Their food is good and portion is decent. Food came out pretty fast. However, the hostess service was poor . I arrived early and told her my friends have a child. She wouldn't seat us unless we could tell her if we need a high chair. Then later while we wait for my friends to come (they were stuck with traffic), she kept asking and almost wanted to kick us out of the table. People didn't expect to be in traffic, also the restaurant also didn't have any lines. She shouldn't be a hostess with poor service like this and didn't make us feel welcomed. read more

I absolutely love this place! I've been here a few times already but had to come back again :) Came here last week on a Wednesday night around 6:30PM & got seated right away! I love that it's not too loud in the restaurant. At our table, we were able to order on the iPad which made ordering super efficient. Once we ordered, the sides, hot tea, & food came out so fast! Whenever I go here, I always order the tofu soup with beef & the L.A. Galbi. I love that the portions are big and easy to share. This time, I skipped out on the tofu soup & tried the Bibim Naengmyun instead which was so easy to eat, refreshing, & not too spicy I definitely need to come back and try other things on the menu as well read more

Came with a friend for dinner around 7pm on a Monday night and were seated immediately. The restaurant is located in a plaza so there was plenty of parking. Like other similar restaurants, it's super casual, so if you're like me and looking a little haggard after work, you don't have to worry about dressing up lol. Moments after sitting down, two different waitresses came up to ask what we wanted to order. I had not looked at the menu yet so I definitely needed a few more minutes. We both ended up ordering the pork tofu soup, and a few minutes after ordering, all the side dishes came out. A few minutes later our tofu soups were ready! Service was super fast I had never seen such a TINY egg come with tofu soup (it was so adorable). I had opted for mild spice, which was perfect for me as someone who doesn't handle spice super well, and although nothing compares to BCD down in SoCal, this definitely satisfies the tofu soup craving, and I think this is one of the better ones I've had in the bay. Wife and I went to dinner with my ex, her husband, my son and two teenage daughters. Came here on a Sunday at 6pm. They seated us in a 6 person booth plus 2 more at an adjacent table. Average ambiance, a bit noisey. Good service as plates came out quickly. The $25 seafood pancakes were hot, crisp, enough to feed 8, but could have been more tasty, and more shrimp. The $20 seafood beef tofu dish came with too little seafood and beef, and too small a portion of tofu. The shrimp were on the small side, unshelled, with legs and head in the broth. The $35 bulgogi was outstanding, tender and moist, delicious, and went well with the large slices of onions cooking on the hot plate. Not too fond of the $38 beef octopus, but everyone else loved it. Didn't taste any beef. In a spicy tomato sauce. The $32 chicken teriyaki portion size was small, and the sauce had too much sugar, but tasty and tender dark meat. The $24 pork dolsot came in an iron bowl with a thin layer of crusted rice. Not enough pork for the large portion of white rice. The $39 LA galbi tasted like a good steak, but could only feed 3, as portion size on the small size for the price. Came with sissors to cut the meat. Ex went to the bathroom. Tofu Plus has been in San Jose for more than a decade! It's location is conveniently a block across from Apple Park and has plenty of parking in the lots around it. There's also additional restaurants, bakeries, and services in the plaza. Known for it's several plates of banchan, Tofu Plus became extremely popular for its variety in sides. People had previously compared it to a more casual Jang Su Jang. The fish roe tofu soup was a large enough serving and came with an egg and a side of rice. Mild is spicy enough where you can still taste the tofu and soup. There were multiple large sized pieces of fish roe and a large amount of tofu. Overall, it was well balanced with the soup portion. The old style bulgogi is my usual go to, but the price has really skyrocketed. They have risen steadily since the pandemic (25%-30% since 2021)! Meanwhile, the size portions seem to have also increased a bit. The servers were attentive and came to check on us multiple times asking if we needed anything or more barley tea. We were not rushed out the door and it was a pleasant dining experience. For solid Korean food, Tofu Plus is always worth coming back to! read more

this has been my new go-to korean spot for a while now. I think what makes them special in the abundance of Korean spots in the Bay Area is their incredible spread of side dishes. Every single time I die in there they always greet us with 10+ side dishes, and they are very generous with refills for almost all of them except their special of the day. I usually order their BOSSAM and find that this place does a really good job of making sure the pork is very flavorful and tender without being overly chewy or have a weird aftertaste like other places. They taste very fresh and I can tell that they marinate their meat very well. It also usually comes with a side of cabbage, radish, papers, and typical BOSSAM sides. I've also ordered the tofu soup here a couple of times and I think it is a decent option however, definitely not the best in this area. The soup is flavorful, but it's more on the watery side, and I think they sometimes skimp on the proteins. However, it's definitely a solid option when I am here craving a tofu soup. Parking is typically easy to find because it's in a huge lot with a bunch of stores but during peak lunch or dinner hours you might have to park in the garage. Service here is also pretty good. The servers are quite attentive when there's not a huge dinner or lunch rush. They do a great job of refilling our side dishes. read more

On a quest to continue to find good Korean food in the Bay, my parents convinced me to try Tofu Plus again. As you can see below, I came five years ago and thought it was okay. Food is still okay, but the service was abysmal on a busy Saturday night. If you must come, come on a weekday to avoid the potential for rude and rushed service. From beginning to end, we spent only around 45 minutes but we felt extremely rushed the entire time. The owner/server dropped off our check without asking us while we were still eating. Subsequently, multiple servers/bus stuff came on 5 separate occasions to take our dishes. Some asked, and some didn't. One came and started taking our dishes (that still had food on it) without asking us. I started moving the dishes that still had food on it away to put in front of me so I could finish eating them, and the server snapped at me as if I was trying to make her life harder. When I told her I was still eating, she seemed extremely displeased and condescendingly said: "well, go ahead then." Food: +/- banchan is decent - you get 12 different dishes. Fish cake is limp and flavorless. Kimchi is good and tastes fresh. - bulgogi: we've gotten this before - it was very bland this time and the meat quality wasn't great. This was disappointing. $35 + bossam (1 serving): pork belly was good (no weird taste), and the oyster radish banchan was a good complement to the pork with the cabbage wraps, shrimp paste/miso paste, etc. $31 +/- tofu soup: we tried both beef and seafood: decent broth, I got extra spicy but it wasn't spicy whatsoever. $20 The food here is not cheap. And it's not the best of the best either. There is no food good enough (even if it was *that* good - which it is not -) to warrant being this rushed while eating. Disappointing experience. Also there was so much pork that we had to request more turnip & lettuce (another indicator that there was a lot of pork). Unfortunately they charged us $3 for the refill The amount of banchan they give at this restaurant is pretty crazy! However, I didn't particularly love any of them. Tofu Plus is a solid spot for Korean food. I've been here many times and usually order the tofu soup. When dining in, there's a wide variety of banchan, and the service is great. Recently, I ordered the seafood kalguksu and yukaejang for takeout, and unfortunately the noodles weren't separated from the soup. This is usually standard practice, and not doing so ruined the noodle texture. By the time I got home, the noodles were soggy from absorbing too much broth. Came to Tofu Plus with the family and we really enjoyed the experience. The meal started with banchan of course and Tofu Plus doesn't skimp - easily 12 different varieties! We opted to share everything so we got a seafood pancake, the bossom for 1, galbitang, and spicy beef kalguksu. Everything was super tasty! The bossom was I dish I had tried in Korea but my family had never tried before so I was glad they got to experience it with the traditional steamed cabbage wraps too! The kalguksu really reminded me of the one in Korea with its strong white peppery broth but I do think I would have enjoyed the non-spicy version more. My mom really enjoyed the galbitang, opting for a third helping at one point! It was also super generous with 4 short ribs! Last but not least, we really liked how crisp and not oily the seafood pancake was. You don't really find this combination often. Plus, it was chocked full of seafood! All in all, solid meal. If you want something or need to complain about something, you need to flag someone down. The food is generally good but not extraordinary. The beef tofu soup was a bit bland and the beef was a bit chewy. The Kalbi was tender but not really marinated, so slightly bland. The side dishes were generally very good and the rice (for mid tier restaurant rice) was actually good quality and well prepared. Hands down one of the best Korean restaurant in the Bay Area!! Complimentary 12 dish banchan is served with every meal - always look forward to this every visit. I have yet to been to another restaurant that serves as many and as delicious as here. Personal favorite is their kimchi and their apple onion salad! I have been here many times now and service has been pretty consistent every trip - it can get really busy and crowded during peak dinner time but the interior is quite spacious with a good amount of seating. They are a bit stingy with refilling side dishes, I've only had one experience where they seemed very reluctant to do so. I would be here everyday but the prices are definitely on the higher side if you compare them with other Korean restaurants and portion sizes are decent. Tofu soup isn't my absolute favorite because of the oils used, but it felt that this location kept to mostly wholesome ingredients. Located in a convenient plaza with 99 Ranch and a ton of milk tea shops and other small shops. I usually come here with a friend when we're in the mood for Korean and want a good variety of side dishes. I love all the different ones they offer here! We usually order the seafood pancake as an appetizer, but have gotten the king dumplings (they're huge!) a few times as well. I prefer the pancake to be crispier, but that's my personal preference. I usually go for either the dumpling tofu soup or the dol sot bi bim bap (rice in stone bowl with veggies/meat). Both have been good and I would go back (obviously) for it, but each could be better. The tofu soup often isn't spicy enough (again, personal preference) and lacks a deeper flavor. The dol sot could come out hotter (temperature wise) as I like my rice crispier and no matter how long I let this sit - it doesn't get crispy. The service has always been quick and relatively friendly. We've never had to wait more than 10 mins for a table, even on weekends. There are corners for bigger groups of people and smaller tables for parties of 4 or less. Music is low enough for good conversation, but loud enough where you can enjoy it if you're not inclined to talk. Parking for this plaza, in general, can get tight, but you can usually find a spot after going around once as the turnover rate is relatively quick. read more
