I went to lunch with some coworkers and went to Seoul Gom Tang, which is located in the Slavich Plaza. The parking in this plaza is pretty bad. Though, with Dollar Tree out of business here, parking was ok. The ambience was casual and quiet. Simple decor. Decent sized restaurant to accommodate 6-8 people. But mostly, 1-4 in your party. The service is friendly and cordial. Banchan - three kinds of kimchi (Napa cabbage, pickled radish, and green onions). Their specialty is Chadolbagi Gomtang: Beef Bone broth served with Brisket and Noodle. Seasonings are DIY. Soothing and comforting broth. Served with white rice. Brown Mixed rice is an additonal charge. Mul Naeng Myun: Cold Noodles topped with radish, cucumber, beef and boiled egg in cold beef broth. Support your local business.

Very authentic, homey Korean food with true if-you-know-you-know vibes. The atmosphere feels warm and familiar, and the side dishes taste homemade. The kimchi especially stood out. I got the dry cold noodles and loved them. The noodles were super chewy, exactly how I like them. The cold noodles are customizable too with vinegar, and they even have mustard horseradish if you want extra kick.

Seoul Gom Tang is one of our go-to places after concerts or events since they're open pretty late and we want something healthy and soupy. My go-to is the #1 which is the chaedol gom tang since it's the most affordable soup on the menu but it's very light and delicious. It comes with a bowl of rice, your choice of white or purple rice. I always go for the purple rice but beware that it does come with beans. I don't mind it but some may. The rice is pretty packed and so paired with the soup, it's very filling. The soup already comes with noodle and meat so it's a lot of food. The different kimchis are also my favorite, not sour at all. Highly recommend this place. The ahjummas speak very minimal English but they're very nice to us. Definitely recommend! It has become our regular spot!

I've been craving oxtail broth soup lately, and Santa Clara is prime territory for authentic Korean food -- so I did some research and found Seoul Gom Tang. Gom Tang is a traditional Korean soup made by simmering beef bones, ribs, and oxtail for hours. The slow cooking creates that signature rich, milky-white broth full of hearty flavor. - Kkori Gom Tang -- Beef bone broth served with oxtail. The oxtail wasn't the most tender and took some effort to chew off the bone. It's on the pricier side at $29.99, but you do get a solid portion of oxtail. Comes with salt, red pepper paste, and green onions so you can season it to your liking - Side Dishes / Banchan -- Spicy marinated cucumbers, baechu kimchi, kkakdugi (cubed kimchi), and jangajji Service was fast and there was no wait to be seated. The dining area is fairly spacious, and a few groups were eating in on a Friday evening. While the oxtail gom tang wasn't my personal favorite, I'm definitely interested in coming back to try their stone pots and Korean stews!

The kimchi (not pictured) was slightly more savory and chunky with cubes of radish, I really liked it. I've had similar soups, but not this specific one, and this one was pretty good. There was some stringy beef and intestines as well as cabbage that was very soft. I thought it would be spicier based on the picture, but that's okay. Dumplings had chicken served with a ponzu like dipping sauce-- I have no complaints.

My BF and I stumbled across this restaurant while looking for Korean cold noodles. It was VERY busy on a Sunday at 9PM. There was a long line with 3-4 parties ahead of us but we got inside pretty fast. We weren't given menus so we had to look on the wall for their items. We ordered the spicy cold noodles and the hot stone bibimbap. The staff mostly spoke Korean, but we didn't really mind . The cold noodles were a huge portion and SO GOOD for my first time trying them! The bibimbap was just ok. Our meal came with 3 different types of kimchi: napa, green onion, and radish. We also got complimentary bone broth and rice to eat with our meal! I'm so glad I found out about this place. Also, most of the people dining here were Korean so you know the food is authentic!

This place was a hole in the wall. I decided to try it since I would get matcha next door. Food was good. Service was good. Ambiance was casual.

First time here was about 3 years ago. Was craving some soup and this place opens until pretty late so came for a late dinner. We got the chadolbagi gomtang (beef bone broth with brisket and noodles) and haejang guk (beef broth and soybean soup with cabbage, bean sprouts, and beef). Both soups came with rice and for banchan, we got kimchi, cucumber kimchi, and radish kimchi. I like their cabbage kimchi the most. They also have condiments like salt and fresh green onions on the side for the beef bone broth.

Purchased the naengmyeon to try- it was really good! Great portions, very icy and umami broth, and the meat was really yummy too. The interior is very homey and has that traditional Korean vibe without needing to lean into being more updated/trendy. Next time I'd love to try their seollongtang and barbecue plates! The banchan is limited to a few dishes of kimchi, but I thoroughly enjoyed them. I would come back.

My friends and I went here on a Friday night and it was relatively busy. First, 10/10 service. It literally felt like I was at home eating foods my mom makes. We got some fried chicken, bibimbap, and gopchang jungol. The gopchang jungol was the winner of this show. The broth was so warm and soothing I could actually eat that by myself. Ambiance was great; my friends had a great time catching up. Definitely would recommend!

It's hard to find a seolleongtang or gom tang only jip (house) in the Bay but this is the only one I've found. You know, like Han Bat in LA K-town. The place serves its purpose I always get the #1 cha dol (brisket) gom tang. Looks like seolleongtang to me. The kkakdugee (radish kimchi) makes a seolleongtang jip and the ones they have here don't disappoint. It's slathered red and a little sweet the way I like. Glad I don't need to go to LA to get my seolleongtang fix.

Service was good. food was delicious! the bulgogi was generous portions given the $$. The kal bi was delicious. We got the lettuce wrap (aka leaves) glad we got it because it made it feel healthier. banchan: came with: square little rice paper wraps (not as healthy as lettuce but something), kim chee, sprouts, marinated onions with peppers (spicy! but I'm a wimp, any spice is too much for me), jap chae I didn't like the self-order on tablet. (at least it wasn't order off phone, I really hate that) at other restaurants if you order enough, they "service you" free steamed egg. Here I had to buy it myself. negative, there was a dripping pipe on the floor, and we had to point it out for them to wipe it, but then it dripped more. was that water? or grease? who knows. we had to suggest they put a towel so I didn't have to stare at it creeping towards me all night. fun korean pop music in background. cheaper feeling ambiance. definitely coming again for the food and minimal line. didn't like that tip defaulted to 20% minimum (then 23%, 28%) but at least they calculate that pre-tax.

It was actually the perfect group to test it. One of us had marinated crab in Boston and loved it, another tried it in Busan and wasn't a fan, and I was a complete first timer. We ordered the Soy Sauce Marinated Raw Crab, Beef Short Rib Soup, and the summer special Hwe Naengmyeon (Spicy Cold Raw Fish Mixed Noodle). The restaurant is spacious, and seeing that most of the customers were Korean definitely gave us high expectations. Service was friendly and our food came out in about 10-15 minutes. The raw crab came with a bowl of rice, quail egg, fish roe, roasted seaweed, seaweed salad, and pickled daikon. My friend mixed everything together for us like a pro. Soy marinade was well balanced, the crab had a soft, jelly-like texture and tasted really fresh, not gimmicky at all. My friend who didn't enjoy this dish in Korea actually ended up liking this version, and my other friend even said it was better than the one she had in Boston. As for me, I really enjoyed trying it for the first time. That said, it's definitely an acquired taste and probably not for everyone. If you're not ready to eat raw crab, I'd actually recommend trying the soy marinade with soft tofu or boiled eggs first because the sauce itself is delicious. The Beef Short Rib Soup came with tender meat, but the broth was just okay. Not bad, just not something I'd order again. The Hwe Naengmyeon, on the other hand, was really refreshing. It definitely had a spicy kick, the noodles were soft yet chewy, and the raw fish had such a unique texture that I honestly don't know how to describe it. Served cold with fresh veggies and half a boiled egg, it was perfect for a hot day. Also, banchan were delicious and free refill, our favorite was the Konjac noodle mayo salad and Gyeran Mari (Korean Egg Roll). Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try soy marinated raw crab, and I can definitely see myself ordering it again. Such a fun first experience, and I'll be back to explore more of the menu.

The bossam took a while to come out, and by then we were already pretty full off of the pancake, soup and bibimbap. Service sizes are generous, and this definitely would've been enough for 4+ people to share. There was a great assortment of different banchan - my favorite is the jelly! The pancake was nice and crispy, with a good amount of seafood, the bibimbap had a great amount of crispy rice at the bottom and the tofu soup was comforting and exactly what we were looking for. The bossam had a lot of meat - I kind of wished there was more radish and napa to go with the meat, but it was tender, not too fatty, and satisfying. We had plenty of leftovers to take home. Jang su jang is still a classic staple, and has a delicious offering for almost any korean craving you could want. It's a little pricey, but comparable to other options in the area with consistent quality that makes it worth it in my opinion.
