I stopped by Mitsuwa and was very hungry. I decided to stop by Tokyo Hanten for the very first time. I passed this place many times and now I just tried one of their hamburger plates. It was number 33 on the menu. Number 33 was a plate of fried rice, hamburger patty with chili sauce, and a cup of soup. They had single and double patty options. I opted for the single patty, which was enough for me. The cashier was very nice and attentive. She processed and circled my order on the menu paper. This place used flash/vibrate key pager system and in no time I got my food. It was neatly place on the tray. This place was very clean and organized when it comes to serving food. The portions were pretty decent. Not too much or little. It was just right for me. The burger patty was very tender. The chili sauce was not spicy at all. I couldn't taste any spice in the sauce. It was sweet with an apple sauce consistency. The grain of the fried rice was very big. I did not expect the grain of the rice to be that big. The fried rice was not fried and tasted like steamed rice with a bunch of ingredients. It tasted very clean and not burnt at all like how it is with every fried rice that I've eaten. I do not like daikon, which is what they had on the side. However, they had mayo sauce with a few strings of seaweed salad to make the daikon good and tasty. Daikon in my opinion smells really bad and is hard to eat. Luckily the daikon was in shredded strings so it looked very appealing to eat otherwise I would not touch it if it was cut or sliced up. So overall, the platter was pretty alright for me. I did kind of wanted the cup of soup to be a big bigger because the cup was so tiny. It did not look like a cup of soup at all. It looked like a small cup of sauce for the food. Hopefully they can increase the size of the cup because I just finished the soup in one gulp.

I love the dumplings here. My family came here on a couple of occasions to shop at Mitsuwa. We have stopped at this vendor each time to pick up dumplings and other things. The ladies working the counter are very patient and nice. If we have leftovers, they have provided containers. The dumplings are solid. You get a lot in an order. They have combination meals and everything we've had here alhas been excellent. They have a wall of fake meals that show you exactly what you're getting. I love the visual menu. It makes it easy to decide. The hamburger steak dish with rice is great. It's a huge serving. Make sure you get your gravy for the meat. The food takes some time which I appreciate because that means they're making everything to order. It's all fresh and really good.

Not sure why they only have a 3 star rating. Their food has always been super solid, from their hamburger Pattie over rice to Gyoza's to mapo tofu and my new found favorite: omelets rice with shrimp and mayo. Everything tastes delicious and is priced accordingly. They are fast, generously portioned and friendly. Solid 4 stars. Deliciousness:

Good milk tea. Unfortunately it's not adjustable at all so it's required sugar. You can remove the boba. Great flavor. $6.

Wanted some Japanese Hambagu and gyoza. Came to Mistuwa to shop at the Bandai store and some groceries. Afterward always a meal in the food court and what's better than hambagu (hamburger patty)? Juicy, tender, soft melt in your mouth beef burger patty over rice. I highly enjoy the chili hambagu while hubby usually enjoy the mapo tofu one. He does change it up to try different flavors- this time with shrimp fried rice. We had started with 1 patty in the past but decided double patty since there is usually so much rice leftover with 1 patty. Yum

Food (5/5): We got the #30 Hamburg Steak with scallions and fried rice. The steak and fried rice were quite good comfort food! Service (4/5): No issues with the service and food came out at reasonable speed. Nothing particularly stood out though about their service. Ambiance (4/5): It's part of the Mitsuwa grocery and food court. There is a good amount of seating but be aware that there are a lot of people. Because of this parking can be difficult to find in the lot and so is seating for eating.

    Crab Omelette Rice

Food came out really quickly. The crab omelet rice was just alright. It was a bit sweeter than I would've liked. Couldn't take more than two bites at once because the slight sweetness from the egg and gravy got to be a bit unpleasant. The rice was also mushier than what I would've preferred. It was nice that it had whole chunks of crab leg though. The dumplings were good, but too salty. I think they're basically frozen Ling Ling dumplings, which are well-loved. Food overall wasn't bad here. Didn't have high expectations.

I can't believe that I've been eating this occasionally for the better part of the last two decades. While portions have gone down a bit, the taste is still the same - delicious! Hamburg patty is always juicy with delicious "chili" sauce (not really a chili but I think they just call it that - it's more like Mapo tofu sauce without spice) and the fried rice is just right - not too dry, not too mushy. The seaweed / radish mayo salad freshens things up just right and the side broth really completes the meal. Do yourself a favor and get this on your next lunch or dinner stop.

Well, to start... 5 stars for the food. Easy to order, love that they have real style displays of the food so you know what you are ordering. Delicious food, and order was done quick. ZERO STARS for Mitsuwa Food Court! Seems if you don't come at an off peak time then it is too crowded and everyone is hovering around to grab a tables to sit. We have been coming here for years, and it's always been liked this. You would think that they would reorganize the table situation to maximize the area for take and chair placement.

##63... Squid and Shrimp Chili Sauce over Rice

After shopping at the Mitsuwa Supermarket and appreciating the marketing and advertising on the grocery items, everything looked delicious and appetizing. I would even consider consuming the actual packaging, not even knowing what was inside. It's the same here - Tokyo Hanten. Even though menu items are represented on the wall - ala carte, when it was ready I was reminded that I was in a food court. It was tasty but felt like I was missing that homemade touch of authentic ingredients.

    Very good dumplings.
    Thomas L.

I like their dumplings. I have not tried other food, since there is so many others places which are more traditional Japanese food in the Mitsuwa food court. I recommend trying their dumplings. They are consistently good. I think I been coming to Mitsuwa for over 20 years now and often if I eat here, I usually get order of these.

Fried chicken over egg over rice, all sandwiched together for a unique experience. Price friendly, not overly expensive - came with soup on the side. Restaurant resides inside food court with plenty of seating. Check hours.

The drunken noodles are not spicy in my opinion but i can handle a bit of heat. First, its located off Columbus Ave steps from the corner of a quaint and quiet residential W 82nd St. There are 4 large steps out front, so be mindful if you or a member of your party has mobility issues. The steps feel a bit taller than traditional height but these buildings are over 100 years old so just be mindful when walking. They are navigatable with a cane and someone to assist, as we did for a member of our party. The interior of this location is beautiful. There is a bar area at the front and large hibachi seating just beyond to accommodate large groups. The staff are friendly, professional and personable, with our chef providing his spin on the usual hibachi chef performances. Aside from the standard onion volcano, sake spray, food toss and egg catch trick, our chef did a few gags I'd never seen performed at any hibachi place we've visited. The food was good and the service was great. The lobster tail and scallops I ordered were delicious. The noodle portion, however, was very generous. The appetizers were also quite small, with options for salad, soup, tofu, and/or two potstickers. Food overall was well seasoned. This restaurant sits comfortably on the middle of the block and definitely looks like it's been there for a while. I think for over 30 years? Yes I came for the fried chicken and green sauce. They have a $15.50 lunch special but ended up picking up dinner since I was finally in the area. The #12 Crackling Chicken (white meat) w/ Pork Fried Rice is $26. The portion is Very Generous! Literally 6 large pieces of chicken breast (split open thinly & battered). I made sure to ask for the green sauce & they gave me a little bag of 3 containers. It's a kind of cilantro garlic herby aoli. I always expect a kind of Mama's Empanadas (Colombian) spicy version, but this (maybe Peruvian?) will always be mayo-forward? It's tasty, but nothing *So special - better than the Chino Peruvian place in my Queens neighborhood; but idk it's mayo. For some reason they gave me a House Special Fried Rice instead of the Pork Fried Rice that comes with the order. This was excellent! (Haven't had American-style Chinese Food in years...cuz when you grow up selling quality versions of it...) Had large cubes of seared! ham, char sui (Roast Pork) & bouncy shrimp. Nice umami undertones. About the chicken - it was good, medium crispy, medium juicy, slightly brined & well made. BUT - it's Just Fried Chicken. TBH after a few bites, I wonder if they're inspired by Popeyes. The chicken meat is better than Popeyes, but overall that's what it reminded me of (& Popeyes does a good job btw). IDK - I was influenced to expect some kind of special seasoning with the chicken, maybe a Chinese salt & pepper blend? I wonder if I'd like the bone-in chicken / dark meat option more. I recommend this combo meal, would be interested in seeing how their other dishes are if I had a group to eat with. Happy to support a small business. I froze the other 3 chicken pieces for a future meal. Wonder if one of the little green sauces freezes well too. The restaurant feels really homey and was full on a 6:30 PM on a Sunday. But people didn't seem to have to wait too long. There were a few customers waiting for to-go orders alongside me at the front bar area. It's funny when the young staff acts abruptly rude "How many!", but you know they're 2nd Gen. hope this business sticks around for many more years, very 80's - 90's Chinese American Latin feel!

Conveniently located only a short walk from the 72nd Street station on the 1/2/3, this restaurant follows the same model as La Caridad 72. Chinese/Cuban cuisine, mixed in with other dishes from South America. These are two cuisines that are integral to the human condition. Do not frown upon this combo, or you will instantly regret it. As I got here at the tail end of their lunch rush, I was given a lunch menu, so I ordered a wonton soup, with a chicken lo mein with a side of plantains. Got all that? Unfortunately, the wonton soup lacks a little here. The wontons fall apart and the soup has little character. It does come with several wontons as well as a side of crispy wonton strips, and some duck sauce, but overall it was an underwhelming soup. The duck sauce and wonton strips were a great way to set up the main dish, much like peanuts at a bar. They also allowed my stomach to reset in order to get ready for the heavy stuff. Lo mein is not heavy by any means, but combined with the plantains really created an excellent combination. The noodles are good perfectly, the chicken has tons of flavor, and the plantains are cooked to perfection with an outstanding taste and texture. I will eat these anywhere, anytime. The portion is nice too for a lunch meal. I did not feel shortchanged at all. The menu has other offerings that tried to seduce me into staying longer and having a more expensive bill. Any other time I would have caved like a 18 year old at a strip club. Thankfully I have more restraint than that, so I just asked for the check, paid, and walked out. As I speak some Spanish, I was hoping to use this skill there, but I read the room and saw that this was not the arena to do that. Oh well. There is a time and place for everything. Now I have to make some time for a return visit. If a visit to this restaurant was any indication, I think 2026 is going to be a unique year for me.
