Im happy that I've got to discover this place! I was browsing here at yelp looking for something to eat and I stumbled upon discovering this place! My husband and I went to this place around almost 8pm. We ordered 3 rolls for 20 and my husband ordered unagi bowl. I got alaskan rolls; the salmon, tasted fresh and not soggy. I also got crunchy roll; the shrimp inside is still crispy. You can tell its made to order. And the last roll that i got was the bake salmon; some bake salmon tastes fishy but this one is not. The unagi bowl tastes great too i think because of the sauce that they used that makes so good and includes miso soup and salad. I love how affordable the sushi. Some place they are too expensive. We even went back there 2 days after. And this time my husband got the salmon bento box and as usual it was great and i order my usual ones! In the city of Baldwin Park, unless you're looking for an abundance of Mexican restaurants, variety is rare. I've lived her my entire life and have eaten almost everything this city has to offer, and have only ran into at best, decent Asian cuisine. This restaurant fits into the lower end of that category. Don't get me wrong, anything other than Mexican food here is always a gem (and that's partially why you run into other varitity of restaurants in the area other than Mexican food being rated so high), but if you're looking for high quality Asian food, this restaurant does not fit the bill. I can only speak on the cooked food here, but considering they also serve sushi and sushi being one of the more difficult qualities of food to measure up to, it would be farfetched to assume the sushi is also sub-par. What I had here was the 3 item combo which comes with rice, a salad, and a selection of 3 entrees. My choice for the night was the teriyaki salmon, teriyaki chicken, and sesame chicken. First off, I enjoy a decent salad with my meal, it's probably one of the hardest items a restaurant can mess up. Ready to drench my salad in their house dressing, I opened the container to smell it as the look of the dressing did not help in determining what kind of dressing it was. Examining the dressing, it had a strange smell to it, and definitely not one i've ever associated with a salad dressing. It also has a liquid texture to it almost like it were watered down. After assessing the dressing I decided, "OK, guess it isn't a salad night." I moved on to the entrees. The sesame chicken was basically orange sesame chicken, the type of chicken you get at any hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant. My first thought, "What's Chinese food doing at a Japanese/Sushi restaurant?" Tasted rather bland but was probably the most flavorful item of the dish. The teriyaki chicken and salmon I'll group into the same category, bland tasting. It's pretty hard to mess up salmon, but occassionally you run into a restaurant who succeeds with messing it up, this being one of them. The salmon is flat, dried out, and tasteless. The teriyaki sauce spread liberally around the salmon isn't flavorful either. The chicken, taste like well...chicken. Nothing crazy, doesn't taste very teriyaki flavored, and a little on the dry side. This is the type of chicken you drown in hot sauce to make bring life to it. Saddly, hot sauce barely revives it. Overall, if you want quick, "Japanese" cuisine, this place will only be OK, and make you wish you searched a little more. If you're in the area and want something other than Mexican food, go across the street to the Panda Express, it won't be the most delicious, but then you'll already know what to expect and won't be too disappointed. read more

I was so excited to find this place on Yelp! Japanese food in Baldwin Park at a decent price!!!! That excite fizzled out when I started eating. I ordered the 3 item combo (Teri chicken, Ton Katsu & vegetable tempura) & an order of California Rolls. They actually give a lot of food! The pork they use for the Ton Katsu (pork cutlet) is tough and it was really dry. The chicken tasted pre-cooked and was really dry. However, the California rolls & tempura were fine. The woman at the register was nice and friendly. Would I return? Depends on how badly I want Japanese food. read more

I enjoyed this place so much I signed up for Yelp just so I could leave a glowing review. I ordered two of my favorite rolls, rainbow and spider. Before they arrived (quite promptly!) I was treated to a full course of edamame, salad, and miso. Fresh and filling, the rolls quite hit the spot, especially as garnished with a nasturtium blossom. Final course was another favorite, green tea mochi, sweetly arranged with chocolate sauce and a cherry. I will definitely be back! read more

This place is good for a fast food joint, Im really hoping it doesnt fail, I've seen about 6 businesses fail in that location during the past 5 years, so sad. Anywho, I usually order the veg tempura and rice combo, its comes to about 5 bux and it includes miso soup and a SMALL salad. I find it really hard to dislike japanese food especially tempura and miso....but this miso was extremely salty and all the food is slightly lower quality....but hey, it's a fast food joint, what can you expect? read more

But the menu displayed on the window has lower prices than the actual menu inside. They have another sign that says they have the right to change prices without further notice, which is fair, but it sounds like a lazy excuse to not change the display menu and falsely advertise. 4/5 tempura bowl: 2 pieces of shrimp and 4 vegetables, and a looot of rice. The bentos here are made-to-order, fairly priced, and include the works! Most places slap a salad and a few pieces of California roll next to a teriyaki bowl and call it a Japanese bento. Tokyo Express gives you your choice of protein paired with rice, veggies, tempura, miso soup, salad and edamame! So many things going on that you can't really say no to the value. Their sushi rolls are cheap and super good! Only problem I have is the waiting time. I ordered on Grubhub and had a specific pick time but ended up waiting for like 15 more minutes. One of my favorite sushi spots! My go-to order is the Spider Roll-- I'm a sucker for good soft shell crab. The chef's special, homemade sauce for the edamame, is unlike anything I've tasted before!!! Sushi deals is amazing! I got the 3 sushi's for $19.99. Rainbow, Dragon, and Mexican Roll. With your combo meal it comes with free soup, salad and Edamame. In addition, I bought 2 more Edamame which is $1.50. When I went home, I was disappointed with the portion. The cup is really small but so was the portion, understandable with the free portion but the ones I bought there was only 6 pieces in one cup and 5 in the other. But it's okay. I really liked the customer service and the food. I just felt the the portion was worth what I paid for the edamame. I will come back though! It's really good. read more

This newly owned restaurant is very good. The lunch I had today was fresh and plentiful. Menu items run the array of expected Japanese items from ramen to teriyaki chicken combos but without a doubt the stars of the menu are the sushi choices by Chef Ray.
