First and foremost let me say that I've tried so hard to like this place. I've tried them 3-4 times (3 times too many) and I've been disappointed every single time. I've tried their Sushi and I've tried their Chinese food and both are MEDIOCRE at best. I truly don't know how anyone could recommend this place. Today I ordered a Vegetable roll, an Avocado Cucumber roll, an Avocado roll and the Vegetable Pan Fried Udon noodles. I had the Vegetable and Avocado rolls tempura (which, btw, is $3 extra for each roll which is super pricy as compared to other restaurants). My avocado roll was pretty disappointing. How do you mess up an AVOCADO roll? It has pretty much a little microscopic piece of BROWN avocado and I added cream cheese, for $6.75 DEFINITELY NOT WORTH IT. The Vegetable roll was fine (according to my significant other because I refused to eat any of them because of the disappointment) and the avocado cucumber roll had the same quality avocado in it. This order totaled in $32.78, AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY. I requested extra ginger for the sushi actually received NO GINGER and no wasabi with any of the sushi orders. Along with the 3 rolls they gave us 4 packets of soy sauce. Can't comment on the udon noodles because, again, didn't even eat it after my disappointment with this place. In my prior orders I have tried their Honey Chicken and the meat was HIGHLY questionable which made me reluctant to order from this place prior to this order. Same goes for their General tso's chicken. So all in all, if you like good quality food, please don't waste your time and subject your body to such mediocrity- you'll thank me later! read more

What's so great about Tokyo that always makes me come back? Hmm. Fresh and delicious sushi, friendly staff, great sake, more affordable than other sushi joints in Tampa, close to where I live...and so much more. Ive been visiting this place since Ive moved to Tampa. At first, my bf always ordered take out and I loved their crab rangoon, until one day my lazy self decided to just go inside and eat there. The customer service won us(bf and I) over, and the sushi made us go back time after time. Ive tried pretty much all the sushi rolls, and have never had any issues with them. They have all been very tasty, and overall just delicious. Their miso soup is still my favorite over all the other sushi restaurants in Tampa, and I know is weird, because soup is just soup, but I really love it here, same with their crab rangoon, it has never failed my taste buds. Tokyo is also way more affordable than other places in Tampa, and trust me, there was a time where I was fighting with my kitchen and decided not to cook, so our mission was to try different sushi joints, and Tokyo still comes at number one when it comes to affordability. So in conclusion, before you get bored with my review, even though you probably already are, go visit Tokyo, eat some sushi rolls, and if you're like me, and can't eat to save your life with chopsticks, just ask for a fork, and you'll feel right at home. I discovered this place when my truck broke down in their driveway. The staff came out and helped me push it out of the way. During my wait for a tow truck the staff brought me ice cold bottles of water, food and continually checked on me. Due to their unexpected kindness I stopped by the next day for some Chinese and sushi. The food was just as awesome as the staff. Simple chicken broccoli with flavorful brown sauce and fried rice (good amount of roast pork and pieces of carrots and peas in the rice, yes the little details count). Last time I ordered the same at New Bamboo restaurant nearby and it was tasteless. I'll definitely come back here. Oh, the place is a little run down, small inside with a little sushi bar. The food was good. The service was horrible. 1 1/2 hrs late because the manager claimed the order was not received. Then "found it" after I called to complain. Yelp charged my credit card at 635p and "order received" 5 mins later. That was the only communication. Manager "apologized" and started my order at about 8pm. Arrived about 835pm. I often like to order from Tokyo for lunch. Their food is decent, not the most amazing but still tasty. The prices and lunch specials they offer are pretty good especially for how much food you get. Genuinely my favorite Chinese/Japanese place in Florida. You can't get Fried Chicken Sushi anywhere else in Tampa as far as I know! And their California roll doesn't taste like Pollock like other California rolls, it tastes like real crab meat! I don't like Octopus at all, but the sauce they have on it makes it totally edible. In the Chinese food area, the portions of fried rice are enormous and fresh, and the meat is tender and completely devoid of fat. The egg rolls and spring rolls are crispy and full, and they do Fried Dumplings right at this place! I've only experienced their delivery and most of the drivers are great but the rolls I get are not tightly rolled. Also, the management staff is VERY MEAN on the phone...they huff and puff if you place multiple orders. There were 2 instances where I called back (2 mins after i originally called) to add an order or side and the woman gave such a dramatic sigh and said, "finnnnnnne!" and instantly hung up!! This is one of my favorite sushi places! The sushi and ginger salad dressing are spectacular! I love the Dragon roll which is pretty much the Mexican roll topped with avocado and eel sauce. It's a small place, but it has a good ambiance. The service is always prompt and attentive and the prices and portions are reasonable. This is the only sushi place I know of that delivers. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, but the food is reliably decent and you can't beat it for the price. The egg drop soup with wontons was pretty good. The texture was a little odd, but the flavor was definitely there. The curry shrimp fried rice was very tasty. It was probably my favorite thing that we got, and there was a lot more shrimp than I was expecting for how little we paid. The sesame chicken was okay. I'm not a fan of the type they have (breaded chicken in red sauce), but that's my fault for not asking. The crispy wontons we got on the side were yummy. My boyfriend says that the chicken wings were pretty good. Not something to write home about, but way better than McDonalds or any other fast food.
