Honestly wasn't great. My partner got sushi and everything was good except that the wasabi wasn't spicy and it was pretty much just green play dough. My salmon bento was 40% salad, 30% white rice, 15% gyoza and the salmon... oh it might as well have been over cooked fried cat food. It was insanely dry and you could whack it against the table. We also got the vegetable tempura which was okay but once you see the bottom of the container it is literally sitting in a puddle of grease. I was searching around for sushi as one does and found Tokyo. I've passed it a few times here and there and decided to give it a try. I ordered the California roll, two veggie rolls and one chicken teriyaki stick. Both the vegetables rolls and chicken teriyaki were really good and better than other places around my area. One downside was the sushi. Since both of the other two were delicious I had high expectations. The sushi was yes fresh but it didn't taste like the sushi was of high grade as other places in the Tampa area with or closely around the same price. The rolls kept falling, which was kind of frustrating since I was dipping it lightly in soy sauce. Overall I'm willing to give this place another try with their sushi, as for the vegetable rolls and teriyaki I will be coming back for more. read more

It's really bad when you charge extra to substitute a veggie egg roll because you don't eat pork. The food I got was pretty good though. I'm a regular customer. I don't go as often as I used to though. A few members of the staff are a little unpleasant at times. And there always seem to be a ton of folks working each time I visit. This is a completely solid place to get your Chinese food AND sushi. It's the best Chinese I've found in Tampa. Finally, something comparable to Chinese food back home (NY/NJ). Their food has always been ready on time. We usually get the orange chicken with pork fried rice, general tso chicken with white rice, and crab Rangoon. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I don't think there's anything outstanding. It's just good Chinese food. The special part is that I found it in tampa after a year of searching. I live in South Seminole Heights and work in Westchase a few days a week. I drive by this little restaurant every time I go to and from work and have ALMOST stopped several times. I went to the gym after work last week and was driving home from Clearwater STARVING and finally gave in to my craving. I was acknowledged in a friendly manner and offered to choose where I wanted to sit, which was nice since sometimes women alone at dinner time are assumed to be waiting for a man. I chose a seat at the sushi bar and made my choices. I got a triple roll (yellowtail, tuna, salmon), a philly roll (smoked salmon and cream cheese), ika (squid) sashimi, and unagi (eel) nigiri. I don't like cucumber so all items were ordered without and arrived as such...big happy face. For $20 I really enjoyed my food. Everything was fresh and tasty and the rolls were neatly made. The only thing was that the eel pieces kind of fell apart...but that's just because they were large pieces. The pair arrived hot and with plenty of eel sauce (just about my favorite thing). The restaurant is really tiny, about 6 seats at the sushi bar and maybe 10 tables indoors. There's a large outdoor covered patio with a fish pond and fountain. The restrooms are outside. The photos on the Yelp site really don't look like they were taken here. Although the seats at the bar and some of the shelving is the same, the colors and layout of the building don't match up with what I saw. I'm wondering if there's a 2nd location? The Chinese food other people were ordering looked and smelled good and from what they were saying it tasted good too. FORGET ABOUT IT!!! Ordered thru there website (which they later said was a 3rd party vendor). Prepaid by cc and then when picked up they nickel and dimed by teenage son for $1.60 ! I ordered from Tokyo via Uber Eats and figured it'd be safe enough as nothing was super temperature sensitive (like fries). Delivery went smooth enough, asked for a packet of sweet and sour for my egg roll and was charged $2 but Uber Eats was kind enough to remove the unwarranted added charge for me. The egg roll was a pretty standard size, I've had a lot of them over the years and this one had some issues. The inside of the roasted pork egg roll seemed to be all mush, more so than the usual egg roll filling with carrots and cabbage. Not entirely sure what was in it, but I found myself thankful for the still crunchy and somewhat warm wrapper outside to make up for the subpar filling. The California rolls were good, very soft and fresh with the avocado a beautiful shade of green, though the rolls were done a little too loosely so I found a few falling apart as I ate. I can't say I'd order from here again, but the sushi was good enough I'd recommend people give it a shot if you've got a craving to satisfy! read more

Tokyo doesn't really stand out to me, but there's something I like about it anyway. The food is decent -- both the Japanese & the Chinese. We ordered to go but placed our order at the restaurant, so we sat at a table & had a glass of water while waiting. Though it doesn't look like much from the outside, the decor inside is extremely charming IMHO. The pan-fried udon is pretty good -- if you like shiitake mushrooms, the flavor of which is sort of overpowering. I don't like them much, but luckily sweetie does, so he enjoyed his noodles. I don't recall now what I ordered (this was a couple of months ago); one of the spicy Chinese dishes -- kung pao, or mongolian beef, or something like that. I DO recall that it was okay, if a little bit bland and not quite spicy enough for my tastes; but a bit of sriracha sauce at home brought it up a notch to make it quite enjoyable. They have an extensive menu, & everything on it is super cheap. The lunch plates come with pork fried rice or white rice, & egg rolls or soup (wonton, egg drop, or hot & sour). I had the hot & sour soup & I have to say I do NOT recommend it. They deliver within 3 miles for free with a minimum order of $12, or over 3 miles for an additional $3. read more

This place is one of those hidden gems. It's basically a highly rated "diner drive thru and dives". The food is exceptional whether you order in or takeout. The sushi is other worldly. I passed on this place before because it looks small and a little sketchy from the outside, but my dad suggested we come here for dinner. It turned out to be way better than I expected. They have outside indoor and outdoor seating so there is plenty of room to dine in. My mom loved the Spicy Stacey roll, my dad had a sushi combo, and I had a vegetable teriyaki combo that came with soup, salad, vegetable roll, and veggie tempura.
