It is $68/person and it includes many options of food, but I think it's best to come here just for their seafood. As usual, we made reservations for 9:30am and got seated outside on their balcony with the beautiful ocean view. The weather was perfect when we went. It was slightly chilly and cloudy outside so thankfully we weren't burning under the sun. Tom Ham is the most romantic restaurant on Harbor Island. I definitely recommend having dinner here. The food was fabulous, and the service was impeccable. Ricardo, our server, went above and beyond to make sure we had the best dining experience. I suggest making reservations, as this is a very busy restaurant! My husband and I started off with the shrimp cocktail appetizer. It was very delicious. We asked for bread, but bread service was not offered. We were suggest to order the toasted bread with chive butter. It was amazing! I highly suggest getting a side of that. For entrees, I had the jidori half brick chicken, and my husband had the market fish. Both were excellent choices, but we both voted my dish as the superior option. It was one of the best chicken dishes I've ever had. We also shared a side of fontina polenta, which was yummy. We topped our meal off with a bottle of Rose. My husband and I came to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary and had brunch on Sunday! We were so excited to come, me more so than my husband, I am huge seafood lover, so when I saw that they had peel and eat shrimp and crab legs I was in! We came at 9:30 am right as they were opening, I had made reservations in advance so we were sat right away outside, it was so beautiful and sunny but not too hot thankfully! Our server was Sarah, she was super friendly and always checked to make sure we were doing well and that our hands were overly crabby. I was recovering from a Saturday hangover that lingered just a bit on Sunday so she gave me a soda water with bitters and a lemon! Oh my god that was so refreshing, btw I made my own version when we got home, with flavored lacroix! I pretty much deshelled crabs legs and claws the whole time, I felt like I ate my weight in shrimp and crab, it was so fresh and delicious! The shrimp ceviche was so good, I wish I had eaten more I was just obsessed with the crab and shrimp! Plus, there was a carving station and fried chicken, a pasta station and a build your own omelet! The food was incredible and was $68 per person, it doesn't come with bottomless mimosas but I think that's for the better, don't want drunk people fighting over crab legs! I haven't been here in more than a decade and now I know I've been missing out. We did happy hour at the large bar with plenty of bar seating and tables and even booths. We ordered fresh baja oysters which were $1.50 at happy hour. They were a little too small for our liking and much preferred the fried oysters that weren't oily and came with a siracha dipping mayo along with a bowl of pickled veggies. Would definitely order those again. Also tried the shrimp ceviche which was a large portion and also a winner. Tried the mussels which were in a spanish chorizo broth. The mussels were fine but the broth didn't quite work for us ... something a bit too bitter about it. However the filet mignon bites with polenta were outrageously good. This was a large portion and could easily be a meal in itself with no appetizers. Prices are reasonable and we found out that this bar menu is available on weekends too but without the $2 or $3 off. That is good to know as I think the bar menu is diverse and reasonably priced. Will definitely be bringing out of town guests here in the future. read more

Second time here. The first time I came with a girlfriend and we loved it. Brought my husband back and he loved it too! Our waiter was excellent! I'm a vegetarian and my husband has celiacs disease. Jake was our server this time and he made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant. The food was delicious. We started with the loaded hummus and it was so tasty with the best pita bread. This restraunt is a go to if you're trying to have a great view, and decent priced lunch. This place had such a great vibe. The view from the outside is super nice. Went here for my birthday lunch and the waiter I believe his name was Gilbert was super attentive and even switched us to the table we had requested in our reservation. The host (ruby I think her name was) was super uptight, rude and snobby. She had the worst attitude when we told her this wasn't the table we had requested... the bbq beef sandwich had great flavor, the coleslaw on it was a delicious touch. My girlfriend and I discovered that Tom Ham's is pretty much the ultimate place for a Sunday/Easter/Valentines day brunch. If it's not too cold, try to get a table outside on the deck. Eating over the water provides a good boat show sometimes if there's an event happening. The dining room is nice and classy through if you can't get an outdoor table. Drink service can be slower out on the deck but it's not slow enough to lose a star over. They have some imaginative eats for their brunch. Lemon pancakes, beer braised short rib hash (FAVORITE!!) just to name two. Not to mention the decadent chocolate ganache cups that will completely fill you up after eating just one. Seafood bar, omelet bar, more desserts than you can shake a stick at. If you go here be ready to spend, but it's worth it! read more

The setting of this restaurant was a wonderful finish to our first adventure to San Diego. Positioned well on the harbor, sunset was beautiful and a welcomed compliment to our meal. The atmosphere was fitting for a range of guests, from "just finished a walking tour casual" to evening chic, and everything in between. To start, my wife had a pomegranate martini and I had the negroni, which were both well - made. We then chose the fried oysters appetizer. They were tender, not overly done or greasy, but melted on your mouth. The only drawback is that the sauce was unexpectedly spicy, which didn't work for my wife. For our main course, we chose to share the paella. Every component was well cooked, and that can be difficult with the variety of seafood present. It even had a mild chorizo that added a wonderful contrast to the richness often found in such a seafood-forward dish. All you can eat crab legs by the ocean. We were seated outside with a great view of the bay. We ordered our mimosas and went after the crab legs. There are other offerings such as oysters and scallops, but I would always get more plates of crab. The wait was typically long and parking could be a bear when they're busy. Great service is the proudest ring for Tom's. Food was aggressively mid-tier. Maybe it's my fault for not being a fan of cold cooked seafood, but I was not all over the seafood platter. The oysters were probably my favorite but the ceviche was a little dull and the soup du jour was incredibly disappointing - tasted like they dumped out a can of marinara sauce and called it lobster bisque. Where was the lobster? The margarita was okay, but the bartender was heavy handed. Went here for my sons 30th birthday. They are a sister restaurant to Bali Hai which is located on one of the other San Diego islands. We were a party of six so we're seated inside (they only seat 4 or less outside) . The views of the bay and downtown afar are awesome but they are truly spectacular once the sun has set. Reservation for 13 was made 3 months in advance. When we arrived for Mother's Day Sunday Brunch Buffet @ 12:30pm (2 hour time limit), we were immediately sat with a beautiful water view. The food was delicious and of quality! Seafood Section: Rock Crab & Lobster claws, Snow Crab Legs, Peel & Eat Shrimp, Scallops, Oysters on the Half Shell, Ceviche & lemon wedges. Meat: Roasted Tri Tip & Ham at the Carving Station, tradition breakfast items bacon, sausage (very good and not your typical sausage links), French Toast (very good), Waffles, Eggs Benedict, Mac & Cheese, Chicken, House Potatoes, Bagels & Lox, Greens @ the salad station, Ice Cream Sunday station & desserts and more. After tax, 4% service charge & automatic 18% gratuity, it worked out to be about $85/adult guest. I think it was worth the price. The selection of quality seafood and the taste and preparation of the other offerings were great! They kept the food items filled til the end. Service was also friendly and attentive. This has to be one of my favorite seafood restaurants in San Diego bay. The views of ocean, Coronado and the city skyline are gorgeous. You can actually locate the lighthouse attached to the restaurant on any modern nautical map. They also have a 100% responsibly resourced seafood menu! It's very interesting that the main dining room is purposely shaped as the state of California. We chose to sit at a window table cause it was too cold to be outside. Lunch menu was extensive with an amazing raw bar. I had a red sangria to start, hubby just had a Coca-Cola and hot coffee. We decided on lobster bisque, fish and chips, two kinds of fresh oysters, one clam, one scallop and a whole Dungeness crab from raw bar menu. I was afraid the crab wouldn't be good cause it was not in season. But the chilled Dungeness crab was so fresh and meaty. Other raw was fresh and tasty as well. Hubby liked his fish and chips but couldn't finish them after the soup. I'd help but I had to finish the raw seafood all by myself. Later on I had a very tasty Grey Goose with lemon juice as a light dessert. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, again it was a little slow. I think I am used to the fast pace at restaurants in LA so I wasn't used to slower restaurant services in SD. Nonetheless I really enjoyed our lunch at this lighthouse restaurant with gorgeous views. Brought my wife and daughters here to try out Tom Ham's and enjoy the beautiful scenery. When eating here, you have a choice to sit inside or on the patio. The patio tables are small, either 2-top or 4-top tables. I can't see hosting a larger party out here unless you reserved the entire space. You have the option of sitting on the "inner" part of the patio (against the wall), or on the "outer" (by the water). When we came all of the outer tables were full so we had to sit against the wall. The view is still amazing but it's hard to take pictures for instance, since people will always be in them. Next time, we'll just wait for a table by the water. We ordered the famous "Mai Tai" ($12) which our server Sarah was kind enough to mention was one of the strongest drinks ever made. It's pure alcohol, no juice! It was good but the taste is strong and you might be wobbling a bit when you leave. They also server a Mai Tai with juice (also $12), in a taller glass, skinnier glass. You definitely seem to get a better value with the straight alcohol version (see photos). Our server even later brought me a shot of grape juice to use as a chaser for my Mai Tai ;-) We also ordered: * Ceviche ($14) * Fried Chicken Sando ($15) * Crab BLT ($18) * Beacon Burger #9 ($18) * 4% Surcharge ($3.56) Well, we didn't "order" the surcharge, but it sure was on our bill. The food overall was good, though prices are a bit high. Ceviche was great. I'd get this every time. The burger & chicken sando were very good as well. The crab BLT was not my favorite. I think C Level makes a better version of it if that's what you're going for. The view is just stunning. I mean, come on now. If you just came, sat on the patio, ordered a Mai Tai and watched the sailboats come here and there...you'd be in absolute paradise. Seating is plentiful here. This is a big place. Thanksgiving Buffet: If you eat seafood it's worth it if not look for somewhere else. For adults the price was $68 and for kids (6-12) $20. There is a 4 percent surcharge to each check and My favorite items: Crab Legs (Wish it was served hot) Shrimp Ceviche and Chips There were traditional Thanksgiving food offered such as; turkey, mash potatoes, cranberry, stuffing, etc. Didn't care too much for the dessert spread. The owner of this business is deeply troubled. They add an ambiguous 5% fee which is described as "based on increased costs". Like I'm worried he has zero sense of self because you usually raise prices, not add a hidden fee at the end. They lie to you. They are liars. When our friend told the waiter that he passed the blame to the kitchen saying that was how he wrote the order. You should apologize and take it off the bill. Tom Ham's Lighthouse (THL) gives you a full experience between eating, atmosphere, scenery, and pretty good service. With my boss getting ready to retire, this was our chosen place to have our team meet together in recognition of his tremendous career in service to his country. To start, and let's walk through my journey: I'm not a drinker but this restaurant is filled with full service bars in just about every room. But the next step for me after bypassing offers to drink, I had to step outside and look at our city across the bay and take some pictures. It's an awesome view! It was great to talk to friends at a different venue that had so much wonder to offer! The night view is great, but I have to get out here during the daylight hours someday. When it came time to eat, I watched the servers closely and have to say they were highly professional. I had a mahi mahi plate that included green string beans and baked potato fries that seemed to include a garlic flavor and oil. The dish included a diced tomato garnish on top - all worked very well together! My colleague loved his meal as well. It's hard to describe the meal in full because I pre-ordered this particular meal a week ago, in advance of visiting the restaurant because we all had to do this obtain the venue. So be forgiving if I can't say more! But I will say the the chocolate layer cake we had for dessert was the real deal! I should have found a way to lower my calorie intake by only eating half of it, but I couldn't -- I had to eat the whole thing! Without regrets! Well, I have avoided weighing myself today! As a side note, THL has been the sight of many a wedding! They have a great spot reserved outside for weddings. We started with one of the seafood platters, and it was just okay. For entree, I got the Cioppino per our waiter's strong recommendation. It was solid but nothing special - definitely oversold. My friend's crab BLT was atrocious. It was so bland that we suspected that the kitchen forgot about seasoning. My drink was delicious, though too much ice. If it weren't for the view, our meal would been a complete fiasco. I searched diligently for the perfect waterfront restaurant for my San Diego trip, and had a difficult time deciding between this place, Vistal, and Vessel.
