I ordered the minestrone it was by far the best I've ever had. I don't normally order oven pizza because nine times out of 10. The pizza is burnt but here at Tomatina the pizza came out perfect. No burnt marks. The Chicken Marsala was what got me to yelp. Grilled chicken with a side of sautéed spinach and buttered spaghetti. This dish was amazing. My wife ordered the chicken marsala -- the chicken portion was fine, but the amount of pasta was surprisingly small and the plate looked half empty. The flavor was also below average. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine, and they actually forgot to add the shrimp the first time. When they corrected it, the shrimp still had the tails on, which made the dish messy and annoying to eat. For the price they charge, I expected a much better experience. Overall, the food felt overpriced for the quality. Honestly, we could've had a similar or even better meal at Olive Garden for cheaper. (15 min) Pizza were great for the kids and me and my wife had pastas. I tried the pasta trio and it was pretty good if you couldn't figure out what you really wanted. We finally came with friends who have been regulars for years and we were very pleased with everything from the pasta trio to the Caesar salad (I'm very picky with my caesar). We also enjoyed the mamas meat balls and my toddler loved their Mac n cheese and pasta + cream sauce. (Ok maybe I'd hold off on the caprese salad but that one's hard to do unless tomatoes are in season). Everything else was fresh and tasty. Service is efficient and friendly, and the prices are some of the most reasonable you'll find with a very generous happy hour and free kid nights on Thursdays. As for the food though, I feel bad, but the food wasn't great especially for the price. I only ordered the spaghetti meatball for $20, and the sauce was watered down and soupy. The sauce couldn't even cling to the noodles so it was more like eating a plain noodle. The meat used in the meatballs tasted very off and I couldn't put my finger on what it was. They have so many appetizers that are delicious including you're very own pizza with two toppings! When I have out of town guest, that is where I bring them to. We came here on a weekday evening for dinner during happy hour, which takes place from Mondays through Fridays from 3 - 6 PM. There was little wait and we were seated promptly. Food and drinks took a while to come out, but once they did, they all came out together. We ordered the Create Your Own Pizza with Sun Dried Tomatoes & Red Onions. This is the happy hour pizza, which is a personal pizza with 2 toppings of our choice. The taste was okay, and price-wise was pretty reasonable at $7. For drinks, we ordered the Moscow Mule and Gimlet Spritz, which we felt was a bit watered down and very light, especially the Moscow Mule. The Gimlet Spritz was pretty good! We ordered large Garden Pizza online for pickup ( had some issue regarding getting the discount they sorted it out quickly ) . We always drop by this specific location they are very efficient & good customer service. Pizza was ready for pickup in 15-20 mins , it was still hot until we reached home. My favorite was the caprese. The tomatoes were sweet.. the cheese, the fresh lettuce, the pesto sauce .. the crispy tortillas. So yummy. I can eat this everyday :). The Caesar was also good. The salad was fresh and the tortilla is crispy. Came here after seeing that it has a good happy hour menu of $6 drinks and $7 appetizers on weekdays from 3-6pm. It was nice that we were able to sit down quickly and order at our own pace via an online form, but it took a while (~15-20 minutes) before our drinks and appetizer were brought up to us. I got the blood orange manhattan and espresso martini. The manhattan was decent and came with a cherry soaked in the drink, while the espresso martini was weird in that it had a strange after taste. Even though I'm usually a big fan of espresso martinis, I did not like the one here and will probably never get it again. I had been going back and forth for so long about eating at Tomatina. I used to eat the pizza salads at Everybody's Pizza in Atlanta. They were just pizza with a salad on top. And I loved those pizza salads so much. I don't know any place in the Bay Area that serves pizza salads, EXCEPT Tomatina has the Pepperoni Piadine on their menu, which is close enough. Or at least I thought so. So I was excited to try the Pepperoni Piadine. It's essentially a Pepperoni Pizza with a blue cheese salad on top. Or at least that's how the picture looks on the website. The dish is about $22 with tax. And even more with tip. So I hesitated to order the Piadine for so long. We're talking many months. And then finally around Christmas time, after receiving my bonus check and doing a tough work out, I finally splurged on the Piadine. Also, probably important to note: I ordered the Piadine to go. And unfortunately I didn't pick it up until about 30 minutes after I ordered it. So that part was obviously my fault. But also, I need to mention: I don't think the pizza crust part of the pizza was cooked quite long enough. Or maybe it sat in the box too long. I don't know. I was disappointed with the texture. It was soggy but dry at the same time. Not really sure how to describe it but it was not golden brown at all. Like it was just barely cooked. There is an option on the menu when you order to ask for the pizza to be crispy. And now I can see why. Because my crust, while cooked, was just barely cooked and had a lot of dried flour from being tossed. So it was disappointing. Also dissatisfying was the fact that they put the salad in a separate box with the dressing on the side. I get it. They want to keep the lettuce fresh and crispy. However, if you're like me and you love a soggy salad. And you like the idea of a soggy salad to be served warmed up from sitting on top of a crispy pizza, then you're going to have to ask for accommodations on this particular dish. Having said all that, the flavors themselves were superb. I think they put garlic on their pizza. Or maybe it was in the salad. Hard to say but the garlic and seasonings were divine. And the blue cheese dressing was delicious. I ordered it with chicken and was disappointed by the quantity of chicken I received. But again, flavors were delicious! If I ever order again, I will request crispy crust, no pepperoni, just because I don't like pepperoni in general. And I'll ask if they can toss the salad with the dressing and put it on top of the pizza! Would be so yummy that way!!!!! read more

I just got back from San Ramon. I wanted to do Italian this evening. I seen this all the time going towards Santa Clara Square, EdgeCore's Silicon Valley data center, and Moffett Field. Today, I'm at Tomatina. The decor is rustic, slightly charming, warm, and intimate in here. I had to go with the Minestrone Soup. And I had to get, the Bruschetta. And to top it off, this is a Dessert Trio platter with Tiramisu, New York Cheesecake, and a scoop of Spumoni Gelato. I haven't had a Minestrone like that in a very long time, it was bright, scorching hot, the veggies in it were so fresh, and the texture and contrast was awesome. The Bruschetta was Toasted perfectly, it retained it's crunch. The Cheese felt homemade. The Sunkissed Tomato is out of this world. The Basil Pesto is one of the best I ever had. The Dessert Trio was like the ultimate Dessert, it was done in a very different style, wow. I was thinking this was going to be a 4.0-4.3 stars, but I give this 4.3 stars. read more

This review is for the Santa Clara, CA restaurant. AWESOME from the minutes we entered. Greeted by a very happy young lady who seated us at the bar as requested. Immediately presented menus, explained them to us and asked if we wanted drinks. The entire staff is extremely attentive and so very pleasant. Cannot say enough. My husband ordered the minestrone soup and I had the chicken caesar salad with HOMEMADE dressing. The portion was HUGE; only ate half and took the other to go. My husband said his soup was delicious. The garlic rolls we ordered were hot and soft and served with garlic oil for dipping. They were fabulous. The cheesecakes are homemade, including the crust. This month is lemon - my favorite but I skipped because I'm trying to avoid sugar for a bit. They offer many daily specials, half price off certain items and kids eat free on Thursdays. Daily happy hour, including Fridays. Love it! This is a very, very good place with reasonable prices and outstanding service. I was here with my friend to celebrate her birthday. We decided to come here so that after dinner we can go and watch a movie at AMC. We were seated at the booth which we asked for. Since the time was limited we decided to give our order - brussel sprouts, for appetizers, salmon fry as main entree and chocolate tiramisu for dessert. Before all that we ordered red wine. After selecting between two samples the Pinot tasted good. The service is great and I was surprised when the salmon came with fresh cheese grated on top of it. I do not like cheese and hence I had to tell the server. He was nice and took it and got me the order without cheese. Lessons learned, don't assume and call it out at the beginning itself to be safe. We enjoyed our dinner, the brussel sprouts was delicious and with dry fruits and dried cranberries it tasted awesome. The tiramisu cake was so delicious we both finished it quickly in no time. Tasty food and fast service with indoor and outdoor seating. I usually don't come to chain like restaurants but we came last night for dinner and a movie since it's in the same shopping center as the AMC and was pleasantly surprised. Covid safe ordering process. We started with a few non alcoholic drinks. Just wasn't feeling like drinking and wanted something refreshing. The vanilla mint lemonade and cranberry raspberry drinks did just the trick. They were really tasty and perfect level of sweetness for me. Might be too sweet for others but I have a sweet tooth. For entrees, we ordered a margherita pizza and the pasta pomodoro. Both were delicious, nice and hot temperature and good portion size. We took some leftovers home. We ended with two desserts, the affogato and the apple crisp al a mode. Perfect portions and a sweet end to a delicious meal. During COVID the menu is available through a QR code and you can also order and pay through your phone. Although things have gone digital, the wait staff still checks in with you to make sure everything is going ok with your meal. Great option for dinner and a movie. I visited on a Saturday night and was really impressed with the quality of food. The spaghetti and meatballs were tasty and filling, and the carne combo pizza was cooked perfectly with plenty of delicious italian meats, sliced mushrooms, tomato sauce and mozzarella for a perfect tangy and salty mix on a thin crispy crust (doesn't come with a lot of cheese though). The "personal" size was what most places would call a medium (could easily feed two people)... hence leftovers. Ordering was easy... you scan the QR code at the table and view the menu and pay on your phone. Wait time for our food was very quick. Our server was friendly though she seemed a bit frazzled, not knowing which soda she was serving was "diet" (then switching the drinks, giving them to the wrong person), and bringing waters to the wrong table, etc. There was plenty of parking in the plaza, and the restaurant was clean and inviting. We made reservations for 18 people that have traveled from San Francisco and the East Bay to share our son's 13th birthday celebration over the weekend. We were seated promptly and it wasn't family style but worked out for everyone, adults and kids. Everyone ordered their own individual plate. What I love was the wood oven pizzas. Out of this world. I stuck with the chicken alfredo fettuccine and it seem like the popular item was their spaghetti and meatballs. COVID updates * Outside seating, well-spaced out and shaded. * Must wear masks before ordering and inside. * Bathroom is open and clean (one gender-neutral restroom). Food is delicious as always -- my favorite pizza is the chicken pesto and the one with a meat combo (forgot the name). I like eating my pizza with a side of ranch. First, I want to say Tomatina is open for outdoor dining now!! I went this past weekend and really enjoyed myself. In summary, I give this restaurant 5 stars because I have dined here several times over the past couple years and each time, I had a good experience. Delicious, efficient, and good lunch combinations. I remember a couple times having their Italian soda with a soup/salad combo. Another time I had a Diet coke with their salad/pasta combo. Their portions are pretty good and I boxed it up. Another time (last summer), I came here for a Yelp Elite event. Amazing!! So delicious!! Seriously. I forgot to write a Yelp review for that experience, but we had a couple tables in the restaurant and two free drinks per person. Their Yelp community manager (sorry I forgot his name) was there and greeted us. We got to try their pizzas, salads, and famous garlic rolls. Very nice. Most recently, I came here (first time after this craziness of the shelter-in-place and COVID restrictions). It was a Sunday afternoon and at first, I wasn't sure if they were open for on-site dining but i asked and yes, they were! My friends were all busy so I dined on my own. It was fine because the server was very friendly, I am comfortable taking myself out on a date, and also it was Sunday afternoon at around 1:45 pm or so. I ordered the bruschetta and a glass of white wine (see photos). Great service and the nice waiter gave me two mints instead of one. Overall, I recommend Tomatina for fresh Italian food.
