A classic restaurant hidden in plain sight within a shopping center next door to a gym. Great food. Great service. Family friendly environment. Superb gelato! I have become a regular at Tomato Thyme and have even been to their Sunday brunch, which features classic breakfast entrees including chilaquiles. Their dinner dining menu is great. I love the pasta dishes. Their specials change monthly. Last month, it was a fettuccine with avocado and grilled chicken, which was delicious. Went their tonight with my husband and we were seated immediately, given water, and provided with bread and butter. The staff are all friendly and welcoming, with the added bonus that they remember regulars. While the restaurant is close to fine dining, the restaurant welcomes people like me- who come right after yoga in t-shirt and shorts. Highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Wonderful service! Our server was very attentive and was courteous. Upon seating, our table was nicely set, and the restaurant was beautifully decorated; very nice, clean, and gives a warm and cozy feeling. This restaurant is a place where you can take someone out on a date, bring your family, or just come solo and grab a bite to eat. It's very elegant and casual. The atmosphere is a 5/5!! What makes it even more inviting is the staff. Our server was amazing and very attentive. When she brought out the food, we were excited to dig in! Our pastas and one plate of lasagna were delicious! There are different spices, grated cheese and other condiments on the table so that you can add more flavor if you'd like. I ordered the salmon pasta, my sister ordered the angel hair pasta, my friend ordered pesto linguini, and my other friend ordered a lasagna. All delicious. What I also like is that they have small little plates for you. This way, I was able to sample my friends' and sister's food; I liked the different plates, it was yummy. I will be back again! This place is decent. I am not a huge fan, but its locally owned and they do care about their food. This was the first place that I went to that put pineapple in their vegetarian pizza and it revolutionized the way I thought about veggie pizza. It was srsly SO delish! I still remember it. I have had their pasta there too and its also ok. The bread they serve is ok, and the waiters are ok. I think over all, you might get the impression from my review that its really just ok.....and it is. I think for a town overrun with Italian Restaurant options, this might not be my first place to recommend - but its hearty, its tasty, its decent and its local so if you appreciate all those things stop in and check it out. props to you TT, I can't put my finger on why I don't go more often but its just not the first place I think of when I want Italian or Pizza read more

I admit - I started out biased because my sister frequents this place and had talked it up all day. We started off with the bread and followed it with the pear salad - delish!! We shared the rigatoni with bolognese sauce. So good. Perfectly cooked pasta and the bolognese sauce was excellent. I went here with a friend the other day for dinner. It was a Friday night so it was pretty busy. I never noticed this place between Rite Aid and a Gym even though I go to that Safeway a lot. I thought this was different than it was. I figured it was more of a deli quick place to eat. Instead it was pretty nice inside. My friend and I split a pizza. She got a wedge salad. I got minestrone soup. My soup was ok, nothing special though. The wedge looked decent. The pizza was good. It was very garlicy and had a white sauce. I would try a different one next time though. The service however was awful. I don't know if our server was too busy or just gone but he was not attentive. Our water glasses went empty for a long time. We asked for oil for the bread and never got it. Our food took forever to be served. I would come back at the insistence of someone else but I am not dying to return. read more

One of my family's go-to places for dinner. We hit them up about once a week. Family friendly, fast service, and great food. Get the roasted half chicken or the cioppino whenever it's on the menu. The service was good - the food was good... can't say anything was outstanding... not sure if maybe we didn't order the right things as there's always crowded with line out the door sometimes... Beware: When a kid orders their own Cheese Pizza make sure they/you tell the Waiter/Waitress that you want a "Kid's Plain Cheese Pizza" or else you may unknowingly get an adult sized "Indiviual Pizza." The same goes for the "Kid's Soda." This happened when my 9 year old daughter ordered her own food and the waitress didn't bother to make sure if my daughter wanted items from the "Kid's" section of the Menu or the adult sections. One would think that if a 9 year old child is ordering their food, it would be from the "Kid's Menu." I LOVE THIS PLACE. Great food and TONS of great service. The oil and vinegar that comes with the bread is so good that I asked the waiter for the name and he wrote it out for me. Nice friendly service and the food is REAL good. The Calamari isn't overcooked and the clam linguini is REAL good! Their pizzas aren't the best in the world, but pastas are the main attention getters here. The Ravioli are the BEST I have ever eaten (I dare you to find better) I had the fettuccine Chicken Tequila and it is by far the BEST dish on the menu...followed in a close second by DICK'S Burnt Almond Cake. Finally got the chance to review this place after I can't even remember how many months. Oops! My bad. In any case, it's a cute place. A nice place to relax, and that's exactly what we did. We were seated right away after just walking in. The food was delish and portions filled my bff up. We used to love Tomato Thyme; it was "our spot" until we moved around 2018. Last night (NOV 2022) we excited decided to make the trek down again, but things have definitely changed. The food was good (though they understandably pared down the menu, I'm guessing post-pandemic), but what really struck me was the lackluster service/attitude, and lack of beers! Our waitress looked downright depressed, and when I asked the bartender what beer that had on tap, she wryly replied "Not much!"; when I asked if the empty taps had just ran out, she (loudly) replied "Yeah, about 8 months ago, because our owner sucks!". While I usually enjoy straight talk, that was over the top, especially for her to blurt out to a stranger/non-regular, and hints to deeper issues. To my eyes, they have serious management and morale issues. The food is still good though! read more

Tomato Thyme has a great menu, excellent wait staff and helpers, and the best bartender in town named Marcy!! We used to be a regular here years ago, and I'm sad to say it's gone down hill substantially. We haven't ordered from there in at least three years because of that, but decided to try again tonight. We ordered take-out and the app said it would be ready at 7:24. We arrived at 7:20 to be there as soon as the food was ready, and the food was already waiting. I had the risotto and scallops, and my wife had the meat lasagna. We live less than 5 min from the restaurant, and plated it the second I got in the door. The food was luke-warm at best. So, it apparently was ready well before my arrival at 7:20. The scallops already had a fishier than usual smell, which was exacerbated by 45 seconds in the microwave. The shrimp on the dish were like chewing on rubber bands. My wife's lasagna wasn't much better... luke warm as well, and she said the sauce wasn't nearly as good as it had been in the past, with too much sausage which was overbearing. Luckily for her, lasagna handles a minute in the microwave much better than my scallops. I feel as if I just flushed $60 down the toilet. It'll be at LEAST another three years before we order from there again. Most likely never. Too bad, it used to be our go-to. read more

My one star rating is based on how we were welcomed upon entering Tomato Thyme by the male server on 09/21/19 at 11:30 a.m. Once a month our family gets together for lunch, and my cousin picked Tomato Thyme. I always look forward to going due to the fact that I do not leave the house much because my son, who is terminal and requires 24/7 care. We are a party of twelve and we make sure to always go out early due to my son's medical schedule. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by a very uptight and extremely unwelcoming waiter. He asked how many and my mother told him. He suddenly responded back "No reservation, you need a reservation, there are only two of us". My mother responded that she did not think it would be a problem and he rudely told her yes it is a problem and it will be a hustle. He walked back to the waitress working and said something and she turned and looked at us. We all felt very uncomfortable with his shocking attitude. I wanted to leave but then Mary, the waitress, approached us, very welcoming, and seated us. Thank goodness she was our server. Mary was very kind and attentive. She even gave our group three separate checks. She certainly made up for the attitude of the male server who obviously did not want to deal with our party. We ended up having a wonderful lunch making memories. Thank you Mary for your kind and amazing service. He asked if we had been helped and said he would find someone to help us. 5 mins later another server came to our table and asked if we had been helped yet. I have had a pizza there (pre-covid) that was pretty good. But the beet salad I ordered was the biggest plate of nothing I have seen lately. A pile of very bad arugula with nothing on it. The beets were two very small slices of a canned yellow and two from a canned red beet. With 3-4 crumbles of a cheesy substance that was supposed to be garganzola. So after reading my review from 2013 I can't help but laugh... I ordered the exact same thing!! Lol! Anyways. This time I got to try a little bit of everyone else's dishes. I started off with a cup of minestrone soup. It wasn't really hot and was pretty average to below average. The general manager walked by and sked if I like tomato basil soup.. I said sure! He ran and got me a cup of it and it was so yum. I should have ordered it! He said they usually have it on Wednesdays. I was unimpressed with my Pear Salad w/ chicken .. the chicken was so flippin dry and flavorless. The pear wasn't completely cut and was really hard to cut into pieces. I wish it was sliced thin. I liked the dressing though. My hubby order the seafood manicotti and it was really good but it seemed like he should've gotten more food. I also tried the mushroom​ raviolis.. I should've ordered that! Ugh it was delicious. For dessert we have the chocolate lava cake, that was the bomb. However our coffee was lukewarm so we had to ask for fresh coffee. I do appreciate them leaving crayons on the the table to draw on the paper table covers... Totes fun. Ok overall I downgraded this place to 3 stars because it's super average and I didn't have the best experience. If you come here you should definitely order pasta. read more

After years and years of being a regular at Tomato Thyme I have just been treated by Jeff the manger like an absolute zero - Food was burnt and inedible and an order was missing completely - he decided he was not going to do anything. How can you charge me for an order I did not even get ? That is actually against the law ??? Amazed beyond belief !! Been going here for years before every sharks game and for family get togethers - in this day and age to be this disappointed is incredulous. The number of people I know and who I take to TT will know how terrible an experience this has been. Very sad !! read more
