Oh Tom's, how it has never disappointed! I have eaten here a few times since my last review and each time it has been delicious (obviously). I had a cheeseburger with fries today, and it was just what the doctor told me not to order (lol). The patty was cooked thoroughly yet not dry, it was thick and not flimsy. The tomato was fresh, lettuce and onions on point and sauce was tangy and tasty as usual. Fries were hot and crispy too, which is always a plus. My only complaint is that my stomach isn't big enough to ingest ALL of it! read more

Came here for lunch one time way back when I was doing ride alongs with the local fire department. This greasy spoon joint does not disappoint. I came here before it wasn't bad but then today I order for my family and the lady on the phone didn't seem like she was listening so I repeated the order.Then I come home to find my 2 sides were wrong my nachos were fries and my drinks were not what I ordered.Thanks now I have to order more food for the kids.very inconvenient read more

It's a diner. That's the main thing. It's not some 5-star restaurant, it's a simple little diner in a commercial/industrial section of Costa Mesa. And it nails diner-type food. My grandfather made real onion rings back in old days at his restaurants, and Tom's are the same way - perfect! The burgers are fantastic!!! Big, juicy tasty and filling. Oh, and you could spend a whole hour ready their board menu, they make EVERYTHING there! ...breakfast too! I love this place. It's where the blue-collar locals go, and that's always the best sign of good food being served. No, the place is not fancy not even big, and parking is very limited, but the food is served hot, fresh and fast, and the people are nice too. Try it! read more

Just paid $10 for a pretty icky meal. I love gyros, and sometimes non-franchise diner type places have decent ones, but it was kinda gross to be honest. It definitely just tasted like they grilled up the meat right on top of all the burger stuff- didn't taste like gyro meat, just kinda like charcoal and burger grease. The cucumber sauce was alright, but the sandwich was so filled with it (which made it pretty soggy) that I had to scrape most of it out. soggy fries to top it all off. super disappointed. I guess it's partly my fault for not just getting a burger at a burger joint- since I just moved about a block away I might consider giving it another shot, could've just been a fluke. Will post a better review if the next time turns out alright. Staff was friendly. read more

Been going here for 3 years now, they probably had one of the best cheeseburgers here in OC. But my recent visit got me really disappointed. I ordered 2 number 2 but they only gave me one. The new cashier is having trouble i guess. So i told them i wanted another order but then the other cashier gave me just a soda with no burgers. Its not even busy.. The breakfast burritos here are simply awesome. I have only been here for breakfast and it is as good as advertised. The burrito comes with choice of meat, cheese, potatoes, and i always get salsa on the side. I also like to go easy on the potatoes so i get more of the meat and eggs. Th salsa is good but i also like to use ketchup. Tjis place is small and kinda has a mom and pop type feel to it. People are friendly and food is good. Plus they have a drive thru! read more

Definitely try Tom's place, you must inhale the pastrami cheeseburger but it is necessary to add bacon avocado and grilled onions for an amazing experience. The side of cow next to the pastrami along with the shredded lettuce and tomato make for a killer burger. Also the french fries and deep-fried sides are worth sharing with her friend everything on the menu seems good along with the fried chicken dinner. But you must speak and clarify your orders because they are known to make many mistakes.. read more

So I come here pretty often for the breakfast burrito because I work down the street. Have to give 2 stars though because every time I've ordered something other than the burrito I've been 100% disappointed...There have been many others but most recently I tried the mahi mahi taco plate, aka 2 little shards of fish drowning in literally 2 lbs of pico de gallo per taco, wrapped in a bastard tortilla which is sure to fall apart before you even pick it up!! So I basically paid $9 for beans and rice, which tasted like taco bell food, and like a sliver of fish that I had to pick out of the heaping mess that was my tacos. No person would ever want that much pico! Its really wasteful. Everytime i order something here its just sloppy and messy and overloaded with the stupid stuff, like tomatoes or something. The girl working the window is almost always in a bad mood. There have also been several times where I got my breakfast burrito and the potatoes weren't even cooked all the way....not sure if I can keep coming here... read more

The bacon avocado burger was so good!! I came in on a whim because I was going to a show at Tiki Bar across the street. I didn't have to wait very long to order even though they also had a drive through going. About 3 minutes after I ordered I realized even though the menu doesn't state the burgers come with mayonnaise I should let them know I needed it without as sometimes I have tongue swelling with mayo. I let the cashier know, who let the cook know and he asked if thousand island was ok. It isn't. They let me know it'd be an additional few minutes. Fine. My mistake for forgetting to specify. I work in food service, I get it. However, when my burger arrived the girl working put the plate down and scolded me for not letting me know when I ordered. She told me they had to throw the burger away as a result. She told me next time I have to tell them. There will not be a next time. As delicious as the burger was, the lesson from the snotty waitress was unnecessary (I knew I was an inconvenience) and unneeded. read more

This is the absolute best burger place around! I have not been anywhere with this good of a deal. A quarter pound burger that is super filling and the best tasting I have every had in my entire life.
