    Tonkatsu ramen spicy miso
    Neha A.

We came here around 7pm on a Friday evening and there was a line outside the restaurant to wait. The place is small and the seating is limited, so keep that in mind if you want a quick bite. We didn't have to wait too long, maybe 10-15 min. The gyoza was good, and enjoyed the tonkatsu spicy miso ramen. I got a level 1 spicy and could taste a hint of the spice so it added a good subtle kick. The chashu was sooo tender and perfect, it just melts in your mouth and was definitely my favorite part of the ramen. The corn definitely adds a sweetness that I personally would have preferred to do without so will probably ask for no corn next time, but that's just a personal preference! All in all, I enjoyed the meal and thought the food was good quality.

Really good ramen, the chashu is so tasty and alfo the gyozas were incredible, definitely coming back, I just wished they closed later, but aside of that everything was perfect with the service and the food.

I think this place is truly a hidden gem in the West End area. I've lost track just how many times I've had this same exact bowl of ramen and it is just as good as the very first time I had it. Consistency is always a great sign. The place is small but service is quick and efficient. The noodles are clearly made fresh, so they have just a bit of bite in them. The meat is slightly Smokey which adds a lot of depth to the bowl. I cannot recommend this place enough!

A friend and I were craving a good bowl of ramen on a typical rainy Sunday in Vancouver and I saw the good reviews of this place and decided to check it out. To be in the safe side, we decided to meet at the restaurant at 5:30pm so we can avoid the line ups. Upon arrival, there was only 2 tables occupied and we decided to sit at the communal table. We ordered a chashu bites, two bowls of the tonkotsu Ramen shoyu, and two orders of the half half gyozas. The beef and gyoza combo for $8.90 is a great deal but neither my friend nor I felt like a beer. The small joint seems to be run by a wife and husband team, which is super cute! Service is quick and the place is cozy and cute. The Chashu bites were tender and delicious! The tonkotsu Ramen shoyu had a nice rice soy broth that wasn't too greasy. Normally, I find a shoyu broth to be too greasy and salty for my liking but the broth here is rich in flavour, light in sodium flavour, and not too oily. I loved the fact that the bowl comes with slices of both the lean and fatty chashu to try. I usually am not a fan of thin Ramen noodles but theirs was a bit on the thicker side and was bouncy with a nice chew and texture. The Ramen was definitely made fresh in-house! I really enjoyed the Ramen and was amazed how much I enjoyed it as usually prefer a lighter chicken broth Ramen with thick noodles. I think this is my new favourite shoyu bowl of ramen in town! The gyozas were solid though I couldn't tell which ones were the spicy ones. By the time we left at 7pm, the restaurant was closing and they started to turn away customers as they had sold out of ramen for the day. This joint doesn't have line ups around the block like neighbouring ramen places do, but it is still saying something about the quality of their food and how seriously they take it when they only make a limited batch everyday and close once they sell out. I can't wait to come back and have another bowl!

I accidentally stumbled upon this place on my way back home. At first, looking at the exterior, I thought it was going to be a hole in the wall, but it turned out to be surprisingly nicer on the inside. I have to say that I was not disappointed at all! The service was good and the ramen was tasty. There were a few items that were unique. The fact that it was specifically a tonkotsu ramen place made it more attractive to me. At the time, there was a grand opening special in which all ramen was the same price. I decided to try the Bamboo Charcoal Dark Miso. It was so unique that I had to! I would definitely recommend this. It is apparently blended with charcoal and 3 different types of miso. The bamboo shoots were nice and this was a good portion size. I would definitely come back again because my first and only experience was so pleasant.

We rented bikes next door and spontaneously stopped here for lunch. Service was fast and server was nice. Food delicious - I really liked the gyoza. Ramen delicious as well. We did extra noodles and corn for the kids on the side which was perfect. I got a local Vancouver beer which was also really good. Ambiance restaurant is small and cozy. Would recommend!

Amazing! I have been looking for ramen as good as Japan for a long time and this place nailed it. The ambience and and set up reminded me of being in Japan. We got the tonkotsu miso ramen, and it was delicious! Broth is really rich and the noodles were the perfect texture. Will absolutely go back again!

Shoyu ramen, with all the typical accoutrements, plus seaweed and bok choy! Interesting choice of spoons too.

Brand new ramen spot that's not easy to find. I happened to spot it while walking down Denman, right next to one of the bike shops. I had the shoyu ramen and really like it, peppery broth and thick chewy noodles, plus sheets of seaweed and a big hunk of bok choy. I also had cha-shu bits, a cheap little side of nothing but prepared cha-shu meat with some scallions. Overall it was solid, definitely a good alternative when Marutama or Santouka is too packed. It's quiet now, but hoping they get an uptick of business so they stick around.

Great spot for ramen in the west end. The ramen is good and the $8 beer and gyoza combo is amazing. Definitely worth checking out. It's a small ramen shop so expect a potential wait.

Vancouver really has some fantastic Asian food! This place was soooo yummy!!! Definitely a hidden gem. The interior was cute and the service was pretty fast as well! The broth was nice and flavorful and the noodles were the perfect tenderness. The meat was soft and flavorful as well. It was the perfect comforting pick me up after a day out doing activities. It was also pretty cheap for Ramen at 13 CAD which was refreshing after eating at so many much more expensive ramen places. Overall super solid ramen and I would definitely be back here if I lived in the area!!!

Tonkotsu miso ramen is not as good as I expected. I did not really taste the miso. Other than that, everything is ok.

Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen and Daytons hand!

The guy in front of me, Deng, looked at me with such envy as he cut in line. This place is incredibly popular! Every time I pass by, there's a long queue. Even on rainy days, people are willing to get soaked in the rain just to have a bowl of hot tonkotsu ramen. While you're queuing, the staff will hand out menus. The ordering system is similar to Ichiran Ramen; you can choose the noodle firmness, broth consistency, spiciness, green onions, oil level, and MSG amount . The basic ramen is only $13. I added a soft-boiled egg and pickled cabbage for $2 each. Although the pickled cabbage is really expensive , I can't help it, I'm a pickled cabbage addict! The pickled cabbage paired with the rich tonkotsu broth was refreshing. The broth was flavorful but not greasy, the noodles were chewy and springy, and the portion size was just right. Overall, it's incredibly good value for money; no wonder there's always a queue. After eating, you really get that "Ah~ this is the taste of happiness" feeling

This time, still a line, but it went faster. This is definitely not a sit down and enjoy your meal w anyone. Order your food from a slip of paper you're given so that by the time you sit, they collect it and place the order. Seats are hard and it is devised where you and then leave. I had the goma vegetarian and my brother the tonkatsu. We both had thicker noodles. However, one could not tell. The vegetarian was loaded with sesame seeds. Now i love those seeds but it was way too much for my liking. Too much seeds to chew on. They also do not put any vegetables on like Hawaii does. Everything is ala carte and that adds up. I simply chose the ramen version without all the add ons. The broth was yummy but again with the loaded seeds, it made it challenging to just drink the soup. I will say, Hawaii has by far better ramen, but this place was ok too. Pricey for for what you get though.

Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

If you're curious about the rest of their ramen lineup, the ramen flight is a fun way to try them out without committing to just one. Service has been attentive on my visits, and food comes out quickly, which is always appreciated. Last night, I tried their Dine Out Vancouver menu and thought it was excellent value. For $35, it included a Sapporo beer, five pieces of takoyaki, a bowl of Tonkotsu ramen, and mochi ice cream. It also happened to be Sake Friday, so we picked up a bottle at 50% off - hard to complain about that math. The ambience was generally fine, but the staff were doing a photoshoot for their new menu right beside our table. The lighting was extremely bright and the space felt cramped, and since the shoot lasted the entire duration of our meal, it became a bit distracting. The staff was very pleasant and helpful with menu suggestions. I ordered a vegan rice bowl, and my friend and I shared an order of the vegetable gyoza and an aburi cheesecake. The gyoza and rice bowl were great! The gyoza, which we ordered on the recommendation of our waiter when we told them we were looking for a vegetarian appetizer, were made with soy-based imitation meat that had a very meaty texture - simple but very tasty. The rice bowl also had the soy meat, but seasoned differently, with a more intense flavour, along with atsuage tofu and various vegetables. It was delicious and also seemed healthy. We liked the aburi cheesecake, but it was more lemony than we expected. The waiters who brought it out said the lemon was to cut the sweetness, but we actually felt like the lemon competed with the caramel flavour of the bruleed crust. The textures were amazing though. We really enjoyed our meal here and I wish I'd tried them sooner!

We arrived around 2 PM for our reservation and were greeted warmly right away, which made for a great first impression. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The bamboo divider running through the middle of the space gave it a cozy, modern Japanese-inspired feel, and the overall atmosphere was probably my favorite part of the experience. As for the food, unfortunately it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. I ordered the seafood sizzler bowl, and while it wasn't bad by any means, it felt underwhelming for the price. The bowl was mostly rice, with a few small prawns, tiny scallops, a little roe, and some crab mixed in. I was expecting something more seafood-forward, so it ended up feeling more like a deconstructed fried rice than the premium dish I had envisioned. Same with the unagi bowl, couple small pieces of unagi cut up... The appetizers were actually the highlight of the meal and ended up being more memorable than my main course. I kept waiting for a dish to really wow me, but nothing stood out enough to make me crave a return visit. Maybe I just ordered the wrong items, because I know this place has plenty of fans. Overall, I'm glad I tried it, but based on this visit, I don't see myself making a special trip back.
