Filipino food in the 626! Stopped by AAA to visit their DMV service. Then came into Ranch 99 to check out Tony's BBQ. Picked up some chicken bbq and pork bbq. Then saw they had Taho and halo halo so tried them as well. Pick up a tray to bring to Super Bowl parties or gatherings.. but be sure to order 3 days ahead of time. They have a lot of seafood options which I might try next time. Call ahead of time or order first then go shopping everything is made after you order except for baked goods.

10/19/24 THIS location, hands down, make DA BEST bibingkinitan! I can't believe I haven't dropped a review here! Okay, mainly for their bibingka, they have definitely earned their 5 stars-- based solely for these! This is probably the 5th or 6th time between me & Hubby getting these great tasting treats. One time i brought some for the crew at work & they totally loved the bibingka. I have tasted these at other Tony's locations but it's better here. It's perfectly not too sweet, just the right amount of savory from the salted egg & the consistency of the dough? Fluffy, plump, moist. Brings me back to my childhood. This shop is inside of the 99 Ranch market, they do catering & offer complete meals (fried rice, bbq sticks, pancit, etc). Theres not too many Filipino establishments that I would endorse because most places are inconsistent in their delivery (food, ambience, service). I wouldn't consider Tony's as fast food but they're fairly quick in their prep for your order. If in the area (or not), will surely return, you betcha!

50$ with tax for a dozen skewers (42$ for 12 before tax). The skewers aren't out of this world, but good. Purchased 1/2 pork and 1/2 chicken. I was hesitant about the chicken but they were perfectly juicy for chicken skewers! They also wrapped their dipping sauce in Saran Wrap which I appreciate the thoughtfulness of doing so! I've had plenty of sauces spill at other places due to the cheaply made containers.. Also, first time trying their Bibinka-- like a spongy cake with a slight coconut taste and the inside has a salted yolk (like a moon cake almost!) and a cream filling. Get one!! Located inside 99 Ranch with easy parking. I would come again if there was a skewer craving at home!

I love traditional Filipino food but wanted to try out the BBQ style cooking. I asked the cashier what's the most popular combo meal and she said it was the pork belly, so that's what I ordered. The order came with pork, rice, teriyaki sauce, and an egg soup. The meal cost 17 bucks but it could have included a bit more yummy rice. I forgot how fatty the pork belly is but I enjoyed the meal.

Located inside 99 Ranch. We ordered for 6 and roamed around for about 20ish min inside until the food was all ready. So good!

Tony's barbecue has been on my radar for a while now; never had the chance to try it til now for a friend's birthday. I ordered online for a party of 8-10 people. I will say that the portioning of food is great for the price! Be warned, you'll need at least 30 mins before hand if you dont want to wait for your food for family combos. Here's what I ordered: Family Combo 2: Grilled Liempo / Chicken Inasal thigh and leg / Tuna Collar I do say that the Tuna and the liempo were the highlights of the choices. Tuna collar does not dissappoint as I would liken it to how japanese style yellowtail collar is made, salted and put under a salamander/oven. Liempo had a good fusion of tender juicy meats and slightly chewy skin all marinated and grilled. The Chicken Inasal was tender and juicy too I might've had a bit too much tuna and pork to remember the taste accurately though. It comes with peanut sauce and what I assumed was a soy sauce based Filipino one. They aren't necessary but I would have more of the peanut sauce with the pork! Java rice 8 scoops: It's probably my palette, but I couldn't really taste what made the difference between the java rice and normal white rice. Online google says java rice includes tumeric/annatto. I would definitely need to look more into it the next time I try it! I never knew that Tony's had 3 different locations, made planning for the event very convenient. Alhambra's location is located in a 99 Ranch no less so parking was not an issue. Upon arrival at the restaurant, the staff were courteous on updating me about the status of my order as well as checking to see if I needed cutlery/napkins. Should I have events in the area, I would love to support them again!

I found myself here one day and decided it give it a go. Lots of choices on the menu. I wish they had more combo choices because I would've loved to sample multiple items. I settled on the pork skewer plate. Marinated and grilled, there were three in the order. Good portion. Came with rice, a cup of soup, and some pickled vegetables. Satisfying meal. With a bottle of water, it was like $23.

First time at Tony's Barbeque. It was pretty good. I mainly came here to try their bibingka. We ordered a meat platter and chose liempo, teriyaki pork, chicken inasal. The portion was generous. Both The liempo and pork teriyaki was sweet from the marinade as expected. The chicken was moist and flavorful. I also ordered tuna belly and bbq skewers on the side. In the future, I probably will stick to bbq skewers instead of liempo. The bibingka was good and I was order again. I'll stick to the original flavor. I did try one Ube bibingka which was okay, but not worth the upgraded price since it barely had any Ube flavor at all and only had a dollop of Ube filling.

Regular Bibingka (has salted egg /cream cheese middle).

Tony's Barbecue is located inside 99 Ranch Market. They specialize in Filipino style BBQ plates and Coconut-Rice Cake (Bibingka). Service is very welcoming and food is made to order. A small wait time is expected (5mins = 15 - 20mins). Depending on how busy they are, the wait can be longer, I'd avoid this place if your pressed on time. Now on to the food, we ordered: The grilled bbq boneless milkfish was truly delicious! It comes with a side of Java rice, egg drop soup, pickled papaya condiment, and a sauce similar to a lemon soy sauce mix like Japanese ponzu. This was a favorite and I'd get it again. The grilled pork belly is another solid option if your not worried about cholesterol levels; the pork was marinated nicely with a good texture. I saw that the grilled sea bass and giant squid were popular items as well... I will have to try that next time. Coconut-Rice Cake. Now am not an expert on Filipino cuisine, but these Bibingka were GREAT! The smell, flavor, and texture was so good! The middle section of the Bibingka had salted egg and cream cheese; it was the traditional regular one offered. Tony's also makes an Ube and Macapuno version. Overall the bbq plates were great, super affordable, just the wait time needs to be communicated more clearly or directly.

I've tried this place once before and now I remember why I haven't been back. Everything we got was very bland. The beef ribs had no seasoning and it was heavily dependent on the sauce that comes with all orders, I believe. Secondly, the bbq chicken was undercooked. The bibingka, however, was pretty much its saving grace. Not sweet but the filling was good.

We ate at the 99 ranch food court after some grocery shopping. The guy at the front is so polite, and super helpful in giving me recommendations and explaining all the dishes. 5 star for the wonderful service :)! Food took awhile to come out, so next time I will definitely call in and place an order! Overall the flavor was so on point and we really enjoyed everything. They were out of the desserts that night tho, definitely will come back to try the bibingkinitan!

This is a small Market that has a little bit of everything that you're looking for from Southeast Asia. It's like a 7-Eleven, Filipino style. It's fun to look at the various items available here. You will always end up with more than just what you were looking for. I enjoy the cracker nuts, dried mangoes, and specialty dried items. Their selection of items is always changing so I like to look at what's new and on display. I will sometimes ask the front counter what just came in. The Fresh Deli, located up a small incline to the left as you enter the market, is spectacular. The flavor of the food permeates the entrance to the market. They have an incredible selection of fresh made food. It is difficult to make a decision between the different items. I asked for some help from the gentleman behind the counter. I've dealt with Christian, Gabriel and Abraham and all three are knowledgeable and helpful. He was able to explain how some of the food was prepared and the special attention that was given to each individual item. I wanted to limit myself to two items. I decided on the special marinated Beef Caldereta and the Lechon Kawali. On another trip I decided to try the Pork Tochino and the Barbecue Chicken Skewers. I can't tell you how happy I am with the flavors of the food from the deli. Everything was done to perfection. The Chicken skewers were tender and moist with a great barbecue flavor. The Toccino had a nice marinade flavor and was not too sweet. The Lechon was tender and had enough fat to give it a great flavor and texture. I have to admit the Caldereta was my favorite. Great taste, texture, and just the right spices to give it a little kick. The rice and noodles were a perfect accompaniment. All the sauces I was given added to the flavor of all the dishes. At the cash register at the front counter I paid for my items and asked about other items coming in in the near future. I found out that they are not always sure what's going to become available but always looking for something that will make their customers happy. This is truly a family establishment. I found out that everybody there is related. They definitely give exceptional service and quality merchandise, and delicious food. I look forward to coming back and trying many other items both in their market area as well as the Deli.

Nestled in the sauce were vibrant, perfectly cooked vegetables: tender bok choy, slightly charred green beans, and slices of eggplant that had soaked up all the savory depth of the stew. At the heart of the dish lay generous chunks of beef -- fork-tender, deeply flavored, with just enough fat to melt into the sauce and give it that rich, silky mouthfeel Kare Kare is known for. Sprinkled over the top were crunchy bits, adding a satisfying contrast to every spoonful. Of course, the small side of bagoong (fermented shrimp paste) was essential -- a modest dollop transformed each bite, balancing the sweetness and creaminess of the peanut sauce with a punch of briny intensity. Paired with steaming garlic rice, every scoop felt like the perfect blend of textures and flavors, a true homage to the Filipino classic. Eating Spoon & Pork's Kare Kare felt both nostalgic and elevated -- the heart and soul of a traditional comfort food presented with an eye for freshness and balance. It's the kind of dish that makes you slow down, savor each bite, and immediately start planning your next visit.

4.5 stars. Sorry,…read moreguys - I'm still catching up on my reviews and am kicking myself for failing to write this before Spoon & Pork permanently shut its doors. This was an unforgettable eatery. During our trip to Los Angeles in May, 2023, Wendell invited Jay, Z and me to meet up with Veda and him for a late lunch at 2 PM at one of their favourite Filipino restaurants, Spoon & Pork, on Sunday, the 7th. Spoon & Pork, which originated as a food truck, was a restaurant that specialized in Filipino comfort food with a contemporary twist. They offered a fresh, inventive fusion of the flavours of the Philippines with modern sophistication. Nestled in the vibrant heart of Los Angeles' Silver Lake neighbourhood, Spoon & Pork was a cozy boutique eatery on bustling Sunset Boulevard that greeted guests with a neon pig sign at their front entrance. No private lot on this busy street, so finding nearby parking was a bit challenging and although the charming spot offered both indoor and al fresco dining, seating was also limited. The tropical-inspired dining room with warm wood accents created an effortlessly cool and relaxed atmosphere that felt both modern and rooted in tradition. Upon entry, guests were welcomed by the aroma of sizzling meats and fragrant spices which alluded to the culinary journeys to come. The food at Spoon & Pork wasn't exactly what one's nanay (mom) or lola (grandma) would cook. Celebrating fresh takes on the richness of Filipino cuisine, the menu was an invitation to indulge in unexpected, compelling twists on a thoughtfully curated selection of traditional dishes, infusing familiar flavours into new forms. Below are what we ordered: beef tapa ($25) - MASARAP (DELICIOUS)! Of all the dishes that we ordered, this was the winner of them all as the succulent meat packed a punch of flavour. adobo tofu ($14) - One of Wendell's regular orders, this notable plant-based option, was a tasty, innovative take on the Philippine classic that balanced tradition with modern creativity. laing ($9) - From their platito, small plates section, this bowl of coconut braised taro leaves was rich and creamy deliciousness, but, yes, mini in portion size. garlic rice ($4/$7) - Ordering the garlic rice over plain jasmine rice was a no brainer. Thoroughly infused with the savouriness of the many bits of garlic, this rice perfectly paired with all of the other dishes. bistek ($28) - The skirt steak was very tender and the sauce perfectly balanced the tanginess from the calamansi juice with the savoury soy sauce. lechon kawali ($23) - Another reimagined classic dish featuring crispy, golden pork belly with crunchy skin and tender, flavourful meat inside. The dish was complemented by a tangy, pickled red cabbage that enhanced the crispy texture and added a refreshing contrast. This mastery of flavour and texture tickled Z's tastebuds and won him over. Before this day, Z was never a fan of Filipino food. Everything tasted boldly rich and every bit intensely intoxicated our taste buds. Service was quick, friendly, and attentive. What a remarkably epicurean feast and delightful experience we enjoyed! We're super bummed that Spoon & Pork permanently closed shoppe. Z and I were hoping to return for another tasty meal. Truly, a worthy spot this place was to hit up for an impressively creative taste of the Philippines in Los Angeles.
