If I buy a drink I always get what I want, if someone else orders me a drink, they usually don't get my order right but it's ok, I forgive them because they're buying me a drink and it's pretty nice of them. I want to come back for Beer Bust or Happy Hour :) Bar was chill. I came with my friend around 10pm on a Wednesday night. There was about 5 people inside the bar talking. It a mature crowd. Which I liked. Regular looking people. There was a neon sign with some drinks and the price posted. I also liked that. I don't want to guess how much I'm going to pay. The bartender was nice. Very attractive guy. He wore shorts. I ordered two palomas ($16). Drinks were good. Smooth and refreshing. Bartender recommend their new best selling drink. Its a drink with hypnotic ($10). It felt more expensive, because it came in a glass cup. I didn't like it though. It was strong, but tasted too sweet. The bar is cash only. There is an atm available. The bar decorations were very raunchy. Another thing I liked. Naked men and the tv had a photo gallery showing naked men. The music playing in the background was like 70s/80s. It was at the right volume: loud enough to hear it, but not so loud you can't hear the conversation. There is an outdoor patio/area. There was more people outside. It seemed more livelier there. We have been regulars for almost 2 yrs. In that time, we have seen a lot of changes and out of this world changes and behavior allowed by the bar owner. NYE 2023, our group of 6 - 3 of us were physically assaulted by one of bartenders. We think his name is Tony. And his fellow bartender - Chris (who is very unfriendly, clearly favors Anglos) continued the aggression. We went to leave and the security guard (super sweet man, white beard) said to ignore it and go back inside. Said it's NYE, I'll talk to them. We go back in. Decided not to press assault charges. Went back two nights ago. Same security guard - super awesome. My husband went to Todd and asked for 2 cocktails. Todd is a a total sweetheart. He clearly felt horrible delivering the dirty message (from Chris and Tony) that he was not allowed to serve us. Wow. Chris and Tony assaulted 3 of us physically and we are on a no-serve list. Super nutty. And Robert Cole - the owner turns a blind eye to it. And Larry the bar back singling us out to another security while we were chatting with two other friends is insane. This is not a high-end joint. It used to be a nice place to meet friends. However, Robert, the owner has lost control of reality and is allowing bar tenders that are a legal liability put him and his bar at risk. While I am not currently pursuing to press charges for the assault, two others are not as lenient. The inmates run the gig and emasculated the bar owner.. Better, chill sexy bartenders happy to you as Dick's, Blacbook, Steer Bar, hunters and the barracks. 10 us (and more boycotting) will never go back to Toolshed. There are other places where low-brow bartenders and bar backs are not tuning their lies into issues for members of the gay communities that are the lifeline of their business. read more

Tuesday Tunes Bingo has a great host, DJ, bartenders, and crowd. It starts at 6pm. It's bingo with a twist. Instead of the traditional letters and numbers, the bingo cards have names of songs. The DJ plays the song and the host helps the crowd identify it. Like regular bingo you need to match a pattern (such as two rows) to win a round. Prizes include a black t-shirt with text: I'm the gayest in the room (hahahaha). For some songs, people sing along. Note: There's also a food truck out back providing some excellent pub grub fare. Well now, understanding that this is a Mens Bar...let's start there. My wife and I moved to Cat City in 2018. We met two gentleman at Pinocchio's that said, "Hey, Do you wanna go to Bingo with us at Tool Shed???" We're always down for a good time and a chance to hang with our "brothers." We had a blast...all of the gentleman were friendly and fun. Now, having grown up in Baltimore and hanging out at the best gay bar, "The Hippo", I was always around gay men and drag queens. I am very comfortable around men...period! But, I also know there's a time and place for everything. I know when to go and l know when I don't want to go. Many bars have certain theme nights and you should be aware of those events should you want to patronize this bar. I can only speak from my experience. Getting there: It's about 4 blocks down from Arenas. It's definitely walkable, but in the summer you will not want to walk this in the heat. There's plenty of street parking near the bar. Experience: I came here with a few of my friends that live in the area. This is a fun place to go and if you've ever been there you know why. It's kinda divvy, but I love that. Wow what an impressive new back yard these folks threw together it's definitely a cool spot to hang and meet people. I'm sober but meet friends here and come to activities as well. They are always generous with the non alcoholic drinks knowing I'm a designated driver it helps when bars support you in your sobriety. Bachlorette parties need to avoid this place because its a cruisy GAY mens bar. Furry bears are everywhere! Wednesday night, was slow. Bartender very unfriendly. Looks like a fun place but this bartender is anything but, over pours and dismissive of just casual conversation. If you go here, just don't go to Chris ( bartender). He hates the job and apparently being anywhere halfway polite to customers. I did not feel welcome for one second. Only 2 other customers in the place and he was dismissive of me when I asked general polite questions. Obviously did not want to be there. Looks like it could be a fun place but the bartender made me feel as if I had walked into any homophobic straight bar, i.e. you're not wanted here. If Arenas is the Weho of the Coachella Valley, then Sunny Dunes is the former Silverlake which was a more down home, unpretentious, levi, boots, leather scene. Toolshed takes up two storefronts of a nondescript stripmall. Small & compact, it is a full service bar which pours its liquors but is not into any fancy mixology. In old school terms, it's a basic levi leather cruise bar Bartender was thoughtful, but didn't go out of his way to create a friendly hubbub. Customers on a Wednesday late afternoon were older local men 40's & up, just winding down from tbeir jobs. So atmosphere was subdued w/ the music volume to match the laid back vibe which matched my feelings exactly. Patio looks like a post industrial jail cell w/ precisely fitted metal fasteners & parts. The jail bars faced the outside to allow air to flow for cigar & cigarette smokers. Inside the main bar area there are the obligatory pool table & art of Tom of Finland & the Hun, leather club colors on display to show it is their home bar. In that way Toolshed still has roots in the "Old Guard" ethos. Small space overall so it gets pretty crowded on the weekends. It's a "man's bar", basic & butch, for men who want a retreat to mingle w/ their own. Belching & scratching crotches are not considered bad form. If that is not your thing, better to stay in Arenas with the perfumed, coiffed, designer labeled dandies holding their drinks pinkies out. I may like Barracks Bar a bit better, but Tool Shed also packs a punch for men into men where facial hair, boots, worn levis are standard fare. 3+ Yelp stars. read more

Came in for a beer on a busy Saturday. Bartenders were attentive despite the crowd and helped me out right away. The people next to me smiled and said "hi". A staff member put a bingo sheet in front of me. It was bingo Saturdays! Had a great time playing bingo, even though I didn't understand all the different names of the games. I checked out the courtyard and it was packed, so if you like bingo get there early. There was no kitchen, but people were eating so I think there was a food truck in the back. This bar is walkable to a lot of motels and a short Lyft ride from others. I visit PS a few times a year and will be back. read more

SEXIST! They literally did not let us in and told us NO WOMEN ALLOWED! We were in town for a hospitality convention so we wanted to spread the wealth around the local bars. After dinner at the Lyon we wanted to enjoy a cocktail at Tool Shed. We were incredibly disappointed by how they treated us. Male members of our group walked in with no problem and when they realized what was going on walked out. We stood outside in disbelief as another group with women was turned away. I am in tears writing this...my friends and I have been coming to the tool shed since it opened and were booted out of the bar last night for simply bringing a woman in. How medieval can you get? I have never felt so personally offended and sadness for my friend.. shame on you, tool men! It also a shame because I adore the owner...but the rest of the staff were extremely rude and didn't have my back last night when I bursted into tears. Fun place! Every time the husband and I attend Palm Springs we go to "Tool Shed". We always have a great time. Mix crowd, always respectful and welcoming ;) Read between the lines (welcoming). I was definitely an outlier at this bar! As a very feminine cowgirl in town for the rodeo, there were only three females in this bar on this night. With that being said, we had a blast! This leather/Levi bar had a dark interior, a partying atmosphere, and was filled to the brim with half naked men. Oddly enough, all of them were very gentlemanly and accommodating to us. Everyone greeted us with a smile and even the bartender made sure that we were well taken care of. I'm giving this place 4 stars for the accommodating owner who I believe is Rob. Minus 1 star for the security guy who made me feel unwelcomed. I was in line for the private bathroom, I told the security that I was pee-shy and needed the door closed for privacy. He told me I needed to wait in line, when I was right behind the guy he allowed in. I told him I was right behind the guy that went in before me and where was this so-called line. He pointed to the wall where a bunch of guys were standing, I asked if they were in line for the private bathroom and they told me "NO". I told the security guard that they were not waiting for the bathroom while he let's a random "white" guy who wasn't in any line into the bathroom when he knew I was waiting and a "fake" line he pointed out to earlier. I called him out on how wrong and how rude he was and he immediately grabs my half empty can of pineapple seltzer, tossed it and tells me I was done when it was barely my first drink. I don't like to bring out the race card but I felt that was part of the reason. The owner, who I assume is the owner came out and asked what was going on. I took him outside so I could clearly explained what happened without the music blasting and he understood. He was nice enough to take me back inside to the bathroom to allow me urinate in privacy. I felt humiliated because a lot of patrons saw part of what happened and automatically sided with the security guard.
