Heard that this place had amazing donuts, and they are indeed great! But nothing to rave or write home about, in my opinion. Coffee quality is par for the course in Seattle. We got a couple of their unique coffee offerings: Ovaltine latte and Opal Vietnamese style cold brew. Both were pretty tasty, but I think a little bit on the too sweet side. Service was fast though, they got the Vietnamese coffee out shortly after I signed the receipt and the Ovaltine latte out within 5 minutes. They were out of Marionberry fritters (seasonal June offering) even though I went at 10am. I guess they're super popular? Got a half dozen including: maple bar, bavarian cream bismark, apple fritter, lemon glazed old fashioned, valley girl lemon, and salted caramel old fashioned. All were chewy and doughy without a greasy mouthfeel. They also didn't make me feel physically terrible like your standard donuts would, which is a big plus. Loved the interior of the place. This would be a wonderful cafe to sit and work/read in because it feels very homey. I loved the appearance both interior and exterior. Took the donuts to go though because I was in a hurry to the airport. If I were a local Seattleite, I'd probably come here again because their donuts are yummy, the coffee is quality, and the vibes are great. But as it stands as a visitor, I wouldn't say this is a "must go" place to hit up if you're not from the area. read more

Kiddo and I popped in while waiting for friends to meet us at the vintage store across the street. The vibe is very mellow, with low lighting, floor to ceiling bookshelves covered in old encyclopedias and book series, and in mid February, aliens shooting heart lasers at other aliens amid spaceships. I loved it. There was plenty of seating at 4 on a Saturday, even with space between tables. A spectacular London Fog and cinnamon sugar raised ring set me back $7 and change before tip. For the love of doughnuts! I've made it my business to cut out sweets for awhile but I had to make an exception this time around. Parking is a little snugged around this location so be patient and be mindful not to block the driveway of the local residents. Once I was able to park, I walked half a block over this wonderful spot. Not only did I see a mouth watering display of donuts, I also saw decor that included books! (Blerd moment) What is better than doughnuts, books and coffee?! Nothing! (Ok, maybe some things but in this case, nothing!) The gentleman that assisted me that day was so delightful and upbeat (his name escapes me but he wore glasses and super helpful with my selections). It's impossible to walk out of this place without a smile on your face. I wanted only a couple of donuts but it made no sense to get anything less than half a dozen. I have been here about a dozen times. The coffee selection is par for the course in Seattle. The fritters are rather doughty in the center. Thr chocolate frosted cake are tasry. I take off two stars for a very simple reason. I've lived in Seattle in over 25 years. Twenty years back i lived on the hill, queer,young, and thin. I'm older, fatter, and had the temerity to quip, "why not?" In an eager and enhusastic manner when asked if I wanted whip cream. The gentleman at the desk could not help but comment under his breath when he handed my cup to the batista. I did not notice, until the batista asked "what?" and the cashier (quickly and quietly) said "it doesn't matter." It is bad form to mock customers in such a way that they notice. Love a seasonal doughnut - esp blueberry and pumpkin anything - but my real, regular joy is their coffee. Their drip is just so good, and the cold brew is a million times better than other nearby places. I'm mostly a black coffee drinker, but every time I opt for a latte it's delicious. Not just a donut shop! I love this little spot. They have amazing donuts but they also have other tasty bake goods! The location for me is pretty convenient. I come to Swedish hospital weekly, and this is right across from Swedish first hill/ cherry hill campus. Or even Nordstrom tower. There isn't much choices in the area but this is one of the fun one. It's cute. Smell like sugar and butter! And I had my first actual, real donut! I've had mochi donuts before I've tried real donuts which was here. I was today's years old when I tasted my first real donut: 2021 years old. Place itself is cute, small, clean and inviting. Didn't realize how many choices there will be for donuts. But I went with raspberry glaze and chocolate rainbow. Super rich! Both of them. Even the dough itself: it's soft but chewy and sugary. And all the flavor explosion. It's nice, it's bright, it's quiet, it's okay. The coffee is just like warm, the donuts look stale. But nobody comes here for their 4 dollar drip or chocolate glazed. The coffee shop is a lot, facing the monorails. a great place to enjoy the sunset in Seattle while seeing monorails passing through every once in a while in complete quiet. The shop is decorated with 2 floor to ceiling book shelves filled with old dusty random books, it's clearly just the "the vibes", and it's doing that adequately. Bathrooms are locked behind passwords and clean. I don't regret spending a random 15 min of my afternoon looking out of the window sipping coffee but I don't think I can recommend it to anyone. I believe this cap hill location was the original (?). It could be a nice place to work but seats not at the window are a bit lacking in natural light for my tastes. We were headed back from our trip my partner and I wanted something sweet to eat for breakfast we are like why not doughnuts. Fast forward we got to this place love the environment it had a little library area, chairs and tables and the staff was very welcoming mask and all. There display cases looked nice and well stocked most expect for the one doughnut we wanted we settled on close to half of dozen and I will tell you this was the most we ever paid for doughnuts and unfortunately they were wasted because they were way too sweet and I am not saying that as a slash to the store but maybe as a friendly suggestion not to put so much filling in them. This was my first time trying Top Pot, and I normally don't like cake donuts but I can definitely say I've changed my mind. Their cake donuts aren't dry at all, and you can get donuts with traditional glaze on top OR they have some with frosting which I had never seen before. I got an apple fritter which was fruity and delicious, I also tried a chocolate glazed cake donut (one of their best sellers, literally tasted like a brownie) and a "Samoas" donut with caramel frosting. I have been to Top Pot several times and probably had hundreds of their donuts--and was surprised I had not reviewed them yet. Given that they always seem busy they hardly need the review, but figured I should. It starts with their donuts--and I think these are the best in Seattle and perhaps the best I have ever had. My favorite donuts are the Old Fashioned. I tend to rotate between the raspberry, the maple, and the regular glazed. I think I like the maple the most, but this time I had the raspberry. I usually take them to go, but this time I had the raspberry old fashioned with a chai tea. They complement each other perfectly. The atmosphere at the store is nice, with a big bookcase on the wall to make it more comfortable. The only challenge with eating at Top Pot is that it is difficult not to get more donuts. They also sell the donuts at QFC--but nothing like the experience of getting them at shop. Definitely worth checking out. read more

This may not be the factory store or the shop that President Obama visited, but this is the original Top Pot Doughnut shop that started it all. Here was my experience on a lovely Sunday morning...yes rain was falling too. AMBIANCE: Parking: It is all street parking here generally occupied with residents so good luck with looking for a spot. Seating: There's some covered outside seating 3 small tables and more small tables inside. There's also some nice seats up in front of the window to simply people watch. The place can probably house 40 people total. Feels: The area is surrounded with houses and apartments, it's the less hustle and bustle side of Seattle. People come and go for the most part. The shop itself is lightly dimmed with some nice lite rock playing in the background. The books on the shelf makes me feel pretty studious. Wi-Fi is pretty consistent but there are no outlets. The vibes are mixed with tourists and locals. FOOD: Raspberry (Recommend) They are known for their handmade doughnut and boy it sure did feel soft. Flavor was sweet with a and moist. Classic Glazed (A-Ok) Another delicious donut with sweet simple buttery flavor. Seahawks Donut (A-OK I'm not bashing on this because I'm a Niners fan...(maybe) but this is for the most part an average Top Pot donut with the unique aesthetic Ovaltine Latte (Recommend) It's hard to describe Ovaltine for people that don't know it but it's a different taste to chocolate. This is pleasant to me because it brings nostalgia for me. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Service was excellent. Despite the busy line, we were able to maintain conversation TL; DR OVERALL: 4 Stars. Donuts are delicious, selections are great and the price is about right. I definitely dig the vibes here but if you were to study I would recommend the one in downtown. Made a special trip when someone told us Top Pot Donuts have safe donuts for people with nut allergies. Their website even says they keep nut pastries away from donuts, but we were sad to see the tray of nut pastries above the donuts, with nuts dropped onto the donut trays below. The employee working there offered to use different tongs to pick up donuts. Doesn't matter if the nut pastries crumbs are on top of donuts already. We had a very disappointed daughter as we left with no donuts. Looks like someone who doesn't understand allergies is running that store. read more

Coffee is good! Love the atmosphere! Service and staff are great! But for the main event... I'm sad to report that the donuts I've had here are consistently underwhelming. The best one I've had so far is the old fashioned glazed chocolate doughnut. It is convenient to bring to the office for an event etc. but the freshness and flavor of these doughnuts could use a little boost from the doughnut fairies. I am a fan of their drip coffee and buy it to brew at home.
