This Mexican restaurant ish place was near the metro station so I took a look and it seemed ok. Some tables were open and the service was alright not the best. And as usual restrooms are closed due to COVID. This was my first time here so I wanted to get a little snack so I got chicken tacos which were $5.60 expensive for tacos I thought so I waited for it to come out. I checked what was inside and it was 1 taco with more toppings than a street taco but I was still disappointed. Tops is pretty much a well-known establishment in Pasadena. From their burgers to their fries to their onion rings, you know you can find a good and perhaps not-so-healthy meal at Tops. Not quite sure how the Original Tops and Tops are different - perhaps different owners? but they both sell similar items in a fast food type of establishment with tons of cars waiting in line at the drive through. I've been to the Original Tops back in the day and really enjoyed the food that I had eaten from there. Decided to give this one's Groupon deal a chance, and ended up bringing my dad and sister for a really unhealthy lunch several weeks ago. Despite the fact that there is a parking lot, with all the cars entering through the drive-through, you're better off finding parking on the residential streets and walking over to the restaurant. It saves you a ton of hassle and time. The interior of the restaurant isn't the cleanest or newest, but with the quickness of the food coming out of the kitchen, you'll be in and out of there in no time. Lots of booths and table seating, as well as several tables outside. Order at the front with the cashier and when the order is ready, they'll holler out your number. We ended up ordering way more than we needed to, simply because we weren't prepared for how big the portion sizes were. Tuna melt sandwich: Lately my sister has been all about the tuna melt sandwich. From SB to LA, she's eating her way through all the sandwiches to find the best one. Tops has a regular tuna sandwich (I guess it comes with lettuce, tomatoes, etc.) while the tuna melt only had tuna and cheese on sourdough bread. For around $6-7, the sandwich was a bit pricier than I'd like, but they did include a ton of tuna. But the overall taste of the tuna melt wasn't the best - it was still a bit fishy and lacked flavor from the cheese and the tuna salad - not the best tuna melt I've ever had (that one still goes to Pickles & Swiss in SB). Portion size was incredibly big though, and my sister and I only ate half of the sandwich and still had another half for later that day. 1/4 lb burger: My dad went with their most simple choice - a burger: lettuce, tomatoes, some sauce. Very safe and pretty good. Nothing wrong with the burger at all, and for the price (around $3) the taste/quality was good. Chili cheese French fries (small): SO glad we went with the small because even that was way more than we could handle. I think the difference between a small and large was only a dollar or so, but there was no way we could have finished a large if we could barely make a dent in the small. When we first got the fries, it was covered in cheese - but only a tiny amount of chili! We asked one of the workers if he could add a bit more chili to the top, and we were so happy he did! With the chili and the cheese all mixed together, it gave each fry that ooey gooey chili cheese fry taste. While this was good, I actually found myself thinking that The Hat's chili cheese fries takes the edge - their fries just have more taste in the chili and the French fries (especially with their thicker cut fries). These were just okay. Nothing bad, but nothing too great either. Zucchini sticks: everybody raved about how good these were, so I decided to give them a shot - meh, they were just okay. I think the smaller pieces tasted better than the bigger ones, just because it was easier for the bigger pieces to get soggy faster due to the zucchini inside. With the ranch sauce, the zucchini sticks tasted pretty good - I don't think I'd order this again though. Onion rings: the best thing that we ordered out of the bunch. My dad claimed that this place served THE best onion rings that he has ever had. Fried to perfection with the outside perfectly fried and the inside not too raw. My sister liked the fact that once she bit into the onion ring, the entire onion strand didn't slide out. It really was fried perfectly, and we were pretty sad to see the last one go. tl;dr - If you're a fan of unhealthy (or healthy) food, definitely give this place a shot! They have almost everything on the menu, so you it'll be hard to NOT find something to order. And the workers here are really friendly. One of them even helped us pack our leftovers to-go! Absolutely and utterly disappointed about Tops Burgers. 1/2 the burger is sitting in a pocket of "who knows what" juice and soggy like someone pours water over it. This Tops Burgers location is located on a corner with a small parking lot. My husband and I decided to stop by here and make a to go order on a Saturday early evening around 6 pm. After browsing the menu board (please note that this restaurant's on line menu on their website does not have correct menu prices), we ended up getting: Greek Salad, $7.39 prior to tax- For the price, this is a really nice large salad. I liked the fresh cut/ chopped tomatoes, bell pepper slices, sliced cucumbers and sliced red onions (although I think there is too many onions, but great for those who do like them) in this salad. I did also like that this salad is made with the healthy dark green leafys, although also made with the cheap iceberg lettuce though. The generous portion size of this salad is more than enough for 2 to share (seems like a lot for 1 person to have as a meal). Pastrami Sandwich, $8.99 prior to tax- My husband liked the pastrami sandwich. The pastrami was tender and flavorful. This sandwich was packed with a good amount of pastrami and the sandwich bread itself was a good vehicle to hold all the meat (nothing worse when the bread not being able to hold all the filling of a sandwich and it just gets all over). Large Fried Zucchini, $4.79 prior to tax- I regretted ordering the large size because this size is way too much and the remaining that my husband and I was not able to use was wasted and thrown away. Anyways, I was really hopping that the fried zucchini would be large thick long cut of fried zucchini, but instead, they are like the size of fries. We all agree that their dishes are remarkably "healthy" tasting for a burger place, meaning everything tastes lighter and cleaner than comprable reataurants. The food looks really good but I thinking to try the chicken Gyro and that's I order my wife order a cheese burger with sweet potato fries and I decided to get zucchini sticks. They call our number then I pick up our meal from counter our smell good including my chicken gyro and I couldn't wait to try the zucchini sticks and sweet potato fries. The chicken gyro was incredible good so much flavors in this gyro they two other meat choices beef and lamb I choice chicken. On the side was sauce company with gyro the cucumber yorgurt sauce.
