I love Tops. We live nearby and can pop over to grab a quick bite to eat any time. They serve breakfast all day, which is the hallmark of any great "diner-like" restaurant. They have a wide variety of food so that there's something for everyone. Breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, Mexican food, soup, salads - you name it, they have it. I'm a big fan of the breakfast platter and breakfast burritos. They're not too expensive (maybe $7-8?) and are great portions. The burgers, fries, and onion rings are also great. Their "small" fries is a few bucks and can easily feed several people. I say that as someone who can breeze through a large order of fries at any fast food place and still want more. In other words, great portion sizes and definitely a bang for your buck. Tops has a parking lot and a drive through. Since social distancing requirements have been implemented, they have limited the number of folks who can be indoors. They have plexi-glass dividers and I have always observed the workers wearing gloves and masks. Their drive-thru tends to be busy, but not unmanageable-busy. Wow what can I say? They do everything well. My favorites are the shrimp tostada salad, ground beef tacos, the double cheeseburger and the California 3 way. The California 3 way is essentially chili cheese spaghetti. Delicious! After coming here and having the shrimp tostada salad about 25 times in a row I decided to try some new things. I liked the lamb greek gyro, the carne asada burrito and the greek salad too. All delicious and reasonably priced. I come here more than any other place in Pasadena for good reason. It had been a while since we've eaten here so we decided to jump in the car and share a sandwich on the evening of 2/4/23. Went there for breakfast because honestly it was almost noon and many places stop breakfast service 10:30-ish. What a great find and value. Ordered bacon and eggs which came with 3 eggs, awesome hash browns, 2 full slices of toast and bacon. I can honestly say it was the most bacon I ever got with eggs. ever since moving to pasadena i've frequented this place more often than i'd care to admit but it's close and super convenient. the portions are decent, the burgers are good, mexican food a little bland but it gets the job done. odds are you're not ordering here expecting fine dining level food. They seem to miss the tiny details more often than other place like when you ask for them to not add onions or any other alterations but that happens when you move as fast as they do. Updated this to 2/5: they don't pay attention at all now to any instructions as simple as "no onion". order constantly comes out wrong when ordered through grubhub, one time I placed a grubhub order- they served me a fish sandwich/burger and I didn't realize until I was home since they place the order in a box and then a bag that they staple. Once I noticed I walked back, let them know what happened and instead of throwing it away they put it back on the line. I would hate to be the person who they served that too read more
