Came here for the first time around 7:00 PM? It wasn't that busy inside, but there were a couple of cars lined up for drive thru. They have a private parking lot that doesn't seem too big, but I don't think you'll have a problem since there was still empty spaces. We asked one of the many workers what the top seller was, but we ended up getting neither. We just went with what sounded good to us. Our order came out to be a patty melt, two chili cheeseburgers, and a large chili cheese fries. The patty melt was what I was most exciting about, but ended up being the most disappointing of the three. The chili cheese fries actually scared me. I'm not too big of a cheese person and the top was completely covered with a solid cheese like blanket over the fries. The cheese was a little too much and solid for my liking. The fries seemed a bit on the soggy side. I also would have liked to see more chili in the fries because all I was tasting was soggy fries with solid cheese. Now the chili cheeseburgers was my favorite. There was a good amount of chili that made the whole burger tasty. If I were to go back, I would definitely get the chili cheeseburgers again, and possibly try the onion rings. The total for the order was about $25. read more

They don't offer combos on any burgers, sandwiches, or anything related. $38 for two people without drinks because I refused to spend that much on a burger stand. This pastrami sandwich is only second to a Jewish deli for providing tasty pastrami. I appreciate the fact that the pastrami is less fatty and salty than that other Pasadena pastrami house. As far as the onion rings coming out "dry" (as stated in an earlier review, I LIKE THEM THAT WAY.) They are not dripping with grease, and Tops seems to use a thicker cut of onion with LESS breading. YESSSS. I have already come back twice in two weeks.......you got a Pastrami fan for life....I also have to give Kudos to the soda machine.....perfectly carbonated. Stop by last night, I just don't get why I keep going this location. Drive thru took longer than usual but my Order was the part that get me upset. I ordered chili cheese fries and a drink, they must've been short staffed or something, I got home and as soon as home and opened the box I was disappointed, not the normal chili fries. Once I dug in found out the fries were very hard, crunchy and salty. I ended up throwing away half of the order. Pulled into a small private parking lot. Seems like most people use the drive through, so parking wasn't difficult to find. The inside is spacious and looks clean. The menu is exactly what you expect from a diner. There were a lot of workers. They kind of looked like they were in each other's way, but they were friendly and attentive to customers. I asked one of the guys behind the counter what their popular item was. He mentioned pastrami and the avocado/bacon items. I went with chili cheese items instead. I got the large chili cheese fries (was advised that it's meant for 3-4 people), 2 chili cheeseburgers, and a patty melt to go for only $25. The patty melt was definitely the most disappointing. The bread was almost burnt, and the sandwich was dry. The chilli cheese fries looked good, but could've had more chili and fries. It really felt like I was just eating cheese in the beginning. Stopped by Tops to redeem my Groupon voucher I had purchased. The food is decent here. I usually come here with my sister and we split the pastrami and some variation of chili cheese fries or some other side and that's plenty of food. With the Groupon voucher, no other promos can be used. They have a promo right now where you join their text list and you can get a free drink. They wouldn't let me use my voucher and get a drink. Fair enough. Keep in mind to read the menu boards carefully. I had eyed the Junior sized fried zucchini prices thinking that it was the Small size. I was trying to get my bill over $10 to maximize my voucher since the pastrami I got was a tad under $10. Of course when the guy took my order he asked Small or Large. (This is the ploy some of the really large fast food chains use to get you to upsize when the standard size is the small which for most people is totally fine.) I didn't realize what had happened until I realized I paid more than I had originally calculated in my head since I was still discombobulated when they wouldn't let me redeem the free drink and use my voucher. MUST HAVE!! I have been coming to Tops since I was a teenager! almost 18 years now, and this place has been one of my favorite Places to eat ever! If you have never been here before it is a gem of Pasadena. I strongly recommend trying this place out! Especially the chili cheese fries/Chicken tostada salad/carne Asada burrito, and of course THE BEST PASTRAMI EVER! (Pastrami sandwich/tops special which is a cheeseburger with pastrami!) I even heard that people from around the world come to this restaurant for their pastrami when they visit for the Rose Parade once a year. (Never confirmed it, but still don't hear rumors about other restaurants like that) I'm sure that all foods can't please all people, So there will always be some that won't like it...but I find it very hard to believe this place could ever be less than five stars. Tops contains a lot of nostalgia for me. But it also has some of the best burgers around. Probably top 10 on my own list. My father is a chili fries fan. I personally enjoy their fries (small feeds a family) with salt added. Some crispy some limp. Perfect variety. I love their avocado bacon burger 1/4 lb patty. It's amazing. Huge chunks of avocado. The way EVERY California burger should be. Get a pile of napkins cause you'll need them for this juicy mess. I have to get orange bang with my meal. And it's so worth it. You can get refills too! This location has not changed. Same great food, affordable, but such good quality. Enjoy a variety of Mexican food and Greek food on the menu too. I hadn't been here in about 20 years and it was like stepping back in time to when I was a kid. I looooved the chili cheese fries! They definitely do this right. This should be called chili and cheese with your fries. :) Most places skimp out on ingredients, but Tops really does it right. As far as the cheeseburger I ordered, I wasn't too impressed. The patty was rather dry and thin and it has waaaay to much lettuce. The proportions were off, but no biggie I just took some of the lettuce out. Even with that the patty was thin. Maybe a double cheeseburger next time??? YUM! Anyways I did enjoy my meal just the place was on the disgusting side. The ladies restroom was closed and I washed my hands inside the men's restroom. That whole restroom area reminded me of the nasty truck stop areas we would visit during our family trips driving through Texas. I'm mot sure about the cleanliness here, it's definitely missing a good cleaning. Whenever I'm in Pasadena driving around, I always see Tops Burgers. Years ago I tried them and really enjoyed it. This was my second time coming and was craving a Burger & Fries. Just a heads up guys, they have small parking and drive thru available. When I arrived, I was welcomed by the friendly staff at Tops Burgers. Since I was craving a Burger & Fries, I decided to get a 1/4 pound Cheeseburger and Small Fries. I wait for for a bit and my order was ready. When I received my order, I could smell the freshness. The Cheeseburger had flavor and was perfectly cooked. The French Fries were fresh and seasoned right. As well as the quantity was very generous and it had crunch. My overall experience was great and the customer service was excellent. My order was fresh and had flavor. In my personal opinion I would recommend Tops Burger if you want to try something different than the regular chains. Tops has been around since I can remember and they are famous for their fried zucchini, onion rings and bacon avocado cheese burgers. Even though I grew up not to far away from this place I have only visited less than a handful of times in my life, and I've only ever tried the hand battered zucchini and onion rings. We were passing by the other night after watching a play and I was in the mood for a late night crushed ice and soda since I missed getting one at the theatre during intermission...a quick Yelp search led us to Top's and yup they were opened late (till midnight) and had the crushed ice I was looking for. There is just something about old fashioned crushed ice and soda that just tastes so good. Well, I was shocked at the huge menu they have here, they serve all sorts of food including Mexican fare and who knows what else. When we found out they hand batter their onion rings, we thought we would order a small until we found out it was the size of a small cardboard take out box. When we decided against it, the cashier actually said we could order one half the size and we did. The order was $3 and change and boy were those onion rings good, they were perfectly fried, not too greasy, and they hit the spot. We were in the drive through and I thought we would have to wait long, but they were up in a flash, nice and piping hot. They came with a side of ranch, or maybe we asked for a side of ranch, I can't remember.
