I love Torchy's but don't get here very often! The queso is so delish. It's a little thin but it comes topped with cheese and cilantro and avocado and it has a nice little bite of heat on the back end. They have THE BEST chips! Thin and crispy and salty... They have interesting names for their tacos but they are allllll good! They serve the breakfast variety is available all day! They even sell merch! The Crossroads is my all time fave because BRISKET! Trailer Park is good but you've gotta get it "trashy" (with queso). They have other varieties from Ahi to Salmon!!!! It's loud and very casual. They have varieties of beers and the "good" stuff. Margaritas Re awesome! They have happy hour too! 3-7! Also the fountain drinks are of the Mexican Variety. No Coke or Dr. Pepper but these are the real cane sugar deal!!!!! I stopped for a margarita to go. Great price during Happy Hour HOWEVER it needs adjustments done . I felt I was drinking a slurpee (NON alcoholic drink). The flavor could also be improved!!!!!! Tacos are not great at all. I prefer Velvet tacos waaayyyyy more than Torchys. Torchys is pretty basic tacos. Ive heard the breakfast tacos are good. I heard so many good things about this place that I had to try it. First off, they make their own salsa with limited spices that no over powering. The queso is awesome and just enough spice to make it, oh so good.. This taco place is legit and a little oddly placed on Preston. Kudos because the the patio is awesome and the bar tender was tentative and made great drinks. The trailer park taco extra trashy is awesome.. You must try it! My first time here was a few weeks ago and I have to say this place knows how to make some tacos. I ordered the 'trailer park' - Fried chicken, green chiles, lettuce, pico de gallo and cheese on a flour tortilla with Poblano Sauce. "Get it trashy" - take off the lettuce and add queso. And they have some amazing questions and chips are bottomless. Cannot wait for my next visit and next taco to try. She spoke fast and not loud enough for us to hear over the noisy teens at a nearby table. My friend ordered a couple tacos and chips and salsa. I'm a huge fan of Torchy's. Their tacos are consistently delicious. This trip I had one of their August "super hot tacos." I forget the name. It was the third one - chicken and something and like ghost pepper sauce. Honestly not that hot. It had a pleasant warmth, but the girl at the counter said it was like "you'll cry" which ... definitely wasn't. Aside from not being as spicy as I was led to believe it was an excelent taco. The chicken was cooked excellently, it had a good flavor profile - a fine thing to eat. The employees are nice, place was clean - it's reasonably quick to get in an out of. Came here for lunch because of all the rave reviews. It was pretty good and fresh. I like how they stuff the tacos with meat. The portions are quite large for the price. They also have special taco flavors of the week. I was tempted to try the chicken and waffle taco but opted for just the chicken taco to play it safe. It tasted great and well seasoned. I think next time I'll be more adventurous and try the specialty taco. The service was good pretty straightforward. It was nice they had someone constantly cleaning tables because when we went at noon it was busy, luckily we didn't have trouble finding a table. My dearest Torchy's, I am betrayed. As an 11 year veteran of vegetarian cuisine, your vegetarian taco selection is second to none. Where else can I find a mean, lean, non animal fat, refried bean that I am able to consume? My boyfriend (a diehard carnivore), is a big fan of your political taco diversity, which runs the gamut from the sour, floury democrat to the corny, spicy sausage club tease of the republican. AND YET WE ARE BETRAYED BY THE APPALLING NATURE OF YOUR MARGARITA KIT. Good lord, the value is absurd. We ordered via door dash and were charged $46. The liquid quantities/items included in Rita kit are not listed on the website, but we assumed that for FORTY-SIX dollars, we would be receiving a gallon of margarita mix or somewhere near there. Instead, we received what is pictured below: A 375 milliliter of average brand tequila (retails at total wine for $13.00) A 16 oz cup not even filled all the way to the top with margarita mix A couple containers of salt mixture and one lime FORTY SIX DOLLARS for a $13 bottle of tequila and not even 16 oz of mix??? So, I guess the mix by itself was worth about $33 then? Lol. Come on y'all. Even allowing a margin of profit for the restaurant, the value for what you're paying makes absolutely no sense. Not to mention, neglecting to include the portions of the margarita kit on the company website or on Doordash is incredibly misleading to your customers. It came out to 3 margaritas total, with maybe half a shot of tequila leftover. We called your restaurant to confirm the order we had received was complete and we were informed that it was. As avid fans of this restaurant, we are so incredibly disappointed with the value and misleading nature of your rita kit. Ok so I like their tacos but I DO NOT like how they can never seem to get my order right. I say NO cilantro multiple times on every item and for some reason I get cilantro Every time. SMH. It's very annoying to have to pick off cilantro every time I order. I thought 3rd is a charm but apparently not. My Hillbilly queso once again is missing Chorizo. I had seen these restaurants around town and never made it into one until just the other day. I wished I had been sooner! This place has a wide variety of menu items, mainly tacos. I was hungry for a taco but also the grande burrito, caught my attention. The cashier taking my order was very nice to advise me that the burrito was big-very big. She wasn't lying! I can't even describe how big that thing was, other than big! It could probably last the average human for three meals! I also settled down for the Democrat taco. Now, I don't vote Democrat, but from now on I will definitely eat it. The Democrat was very, very tasty. The restaurant itself was very clean and everyone working was very friendly. I will say that if the place is full it does get very noisy. As far as tacos, there would have to be a least one that would grab everyone's attention. There are definitely two or three that I want to try next time I go and I will stay away from the burrito, not because of its taste, just because of its size! A local colleague told me that he could not let me leave Dallas without taking me to Torchy's at least once. Hearing from him about the magic that is Torchy's, I shrugged and happily drove the both of us over. It's a small and unassuming place, with a nice dark wood interior which we eschewed in favor of the covered "outside" seating in order to enjoy the sunshine coming through the plastic windows. It's not full-service, so we ordered our tacos and drinks (sadly only sodas, as we had to go back to work afterwards) at the counter and grabbed a flag to sit down and wait for our food. In hindsight, we may have gone overboard, but it was so worth it. A chips and queso dip to start was creamy and quick to bite you back with every bite you take out of it. I ordered a Democrat and a Mr. Pink, both of which were fantastic. The Democrat's beef was rich and juicy, and do make use of that lime to give it a little bit of bright spritz to the dish. Mr. Pink's tuna was lightly seared to perfection, making me wonder what sort of chain/fast food place this really was. The quality of the food and delicate balance of the cooking evident in the Mr. Pink would have been far more expected at a restaurant charging $10-$15 more per dish. We shared the street corn and fried avocado sides, which while good I think I'd rather have had an additional taco in their place. I think I'm now very much onboard the Torchy train, and can't wait for the opportunity to come back. read more
