We got there around 7 ish and the place was pretty busy (when we left at 9:30 it was mobbed with people still coming in) We ordered a few things to start - kibbi, salad and babaganoush. All delicious My main was lamb (mr) with yogurt and butter - not the healthiest but absolutely the tastiest. Everyone else had a chicken dish ... and while quite tasty, all agreed mine was the best. We ordered takeaway from Toros in Clifton for the first time in almost a year and we were so happy we did! We ordered hummus, lebni, babagannush, sigara boregi, stuffed grape leaves and the chicken tavuk kebab. Hummus and lebni were just delicious, grape leaves very yummy and the sigara boregi just fabulous. Their homemade bread is also delicious but to be honest we actually bought pita because we prefer pita to dip into the spreads. The falafel were very tasty. The babagannush was a little bland. And the tavuk kebab was a bit charred but the rice sides were really good. We will definitely order or dine in there again! read more

The interior of the restaurant is so pretty! I will say that covid guidelines are not strictly followed by the staff here specifically with the hostess who chose to not wear a mask. Aside from this, everything else was fine and our waiter provided great recommendations. We ordered a few cold appetizers and one entree and we had enough to share plus leftovers. We've been going here for the past 2 years or so but when we visited yesterday with some friends who had two kids, their service and accommodation was amazing, so I wanted to write a review. Their lunch special is a steal. Their regular menu is also pretty reasonable and their food is very authentic and outstanding even in a neighborhood full of other Turkish restaurants. The decoration is very successful as well and it's full of traditional Turkish items without interrupting the dining experience. The only thing I wish they can fix/improve is their bathroom. I love this place! Great ambience and excellent service. I've been there a few times and never knew there was seating downstairs! I had the Adana kebab which was delicious. Seems like the rice portions were a bit small but that's just as well I suppose since there was pide that came before dinner. The Shepards salad is always good and the small is in fact large enough for two hungry people. I took some home! We will be back! read more

Okay so this is one of my favorite restaurants because they offer an authentic Turkish experience. When you walk inside you will notice so many different decor authentic to Turkey that really is fun to look at. The menu is filled with all types of Turkish cuisine, and if you're nervous about trying something tradition then I'd suggest a kebab, also their French fries are really good too! I usually get a traditional Turkish dish or a kebab of some sort and I've been satisfied each time I have gone. If you come here, you have to leave room for dessert! You must order a traditional Turkish coffee and I usually get the baklava. I love their dessert more than their dinner. The baklava is so good! They also allow you to sit there and enjoy your meal and your company which makes me think this is part of their culture because I feel like in American restaurants, they tend to rush you out. So if you're actually in a rush, I would suggest asking for the bill. read more

I've only had 1 dish at this restaurant but quickly became obsessed. The salmon lunch special with the red lentil soup and hummus. I've gotten that combo several times in the last 4yrs, recently i've noticed the salmon portion getting smaller. My sister was in town so I took her on 7/23 and i was so disappointed. The salmon size was anorexic, like a sliver compared to the nice piece of filet they used to give. The red lentil soup was incredibly salty and the hummus that I rave to everyone about lacked flavor. So sad and unsatisfying. I know times are tough right now but that's not an excuse to lower the quality of your food, you'll just lose customers instead. Do better please. read more

I have been dining at Toros (Clifton) for many years now. Toros prepares the best Turkish cuisine around! I have tried other Turkish restaurants but they are mediocre in comparison. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with many Turkish antiques. The ambience is very captivating, inviting. The food is fresh, flavorful and authentic. My favorite dishes to order are the Coban salad, red lentil soup, humus, fried calamari and the combination platter. I have ordered for pickup during Covid and the food was equally delicious as dining in. They are offering outdoor dining now but can't wait to eat inside the beautiful restaurant again! read more

Came in around 5pm Saturday. No wait, staff was very very friendly, sat us right away. For starters, this restaurant has old world charm. You feel like your away internationally. Other patrons are sitting, talking, just enjoying themselves. We were served bread that was so delicious with butter. We ordered hummus, calamari, some platters and drinks. We were attended to perfectly. Waiter was cool, understood the assignment. The food, amazing. Good flavors. We enjoyed every second of this dinner. Recommended by a friend and wow, my new favorite Mediterranean restaurant. Toros is a hidden gem in North Jersey! My family and I have been coming here for over 20 years. The food is fantastic! They serve you delicious warm bread, which I have to stop myself from eating. Their lentil soup is always so good. For appetizers, their sigara boregi is my favorite! I also love their babagannush. I always get their doner kebab--always made perfectly with the right amount of saltiness. They also have an amazing lunch special--drink, soup or salad, appetizer and entree for $17.99! This is a wonderful Turkish restaurant located in Clifton NJ which is the original of the three locations where it's beautifully decorated to make you feel like you're in Turkey. Tonight we made a return trip for dinner after a few years with other friends. Our server was Ellie. We started out with the complimentary Turkish pide bread. For appetizers, we ordered Lebni (creamed yogurt, garlic, dill & walnuts) served cold and Sigara Boregi (Pan-fried crispy filo dough filled with feta cheese, parsley & dill) served warm. Both were delicious. Loved the garlic taste of the Lebni and went well as a spread to the pide. The Sigara was amazing and right amount of feta cheese. For entree, we ordered Manti (Turkish style beef ravioli served with yogurt sauce), Mousakka (Eggplant, seasoned ground lamb, fried potatoes cubed, topped with kasseri cheese and béchamel sauce), Pirzola & Tavuk (Lamb Chops & Chicken Kebab), Sis Kebab (tender cubes of lamb marinated in a unique seasoning) and grilled shrimp kebab (grilled jumbo shrimp served with steam vegetables and rice). The food came out warm, just the right portions, tasty and no complaints. Unfortunately we didn't have room for desserts. The price was reasonable. This is a place my gf has been coming to for years. Gladly she decided to share her spot with me. Just like their Paterson location, I have never had a bad meal here. Even though I must admit that when it comes to Toros I am a creature of habit. I ALWAYS get the exact same thing. That is a shepherd salad, humus, and their combination platter. I will eventually venture off that and get something else some day. But those things are so incredibly good that it's hard to deviate. This particular location is a little more intimate and romantic. It makes for a perfect date night. The lighting helps create a great ambiance. This place would also be great for someone who is not much of an adventurous eater because while their food is "ethnic", it is approachable and familiar enough for someone who doesn't like to venture out of their culinary wheelhouse. Service was phenomenal all night long. Prices were perfect I got a $6 glass of wine. We ordered the hummus and large shepards salad with feta(MUST GET)I honestly could eat a ton of that salad. This is my favorite restaurant in New Jersey. Their food is amazing and the service is always warm and fantastic. The restaurant has a bar and they have great deals on wine by the glass and bottle. The portions at Toros are huge so usually we get a few appetizers and split an entree. My recommendations are acılı ezme, mücver and the Adana kebab. I've yet to have a bad dish there. They also have amazing bread and desserts, which I believe come from the equally awesome Taşkın bakery across the street. Toros is absolutely worth the ride to Clifton/Paterson. Toros was in a top-40 list of restaurants we found to visit around the greater Newark-area.... From the first visual impression, this is a uniquely classy and well-decorated restaurant. We stopped in late and felt slightly rushed to order (on a weekday) by our server, but the experience and great food quickly eclipsed that small speed bump. Thai place was really nice. We got to sit inside and there was outdoor seating. We went expecting to pay a lot and I'm shocked at the amazing lunch special. 4 people and our bill was only 60 bucks. The lunch special you get a soup or salad, a appetizer, soda and the entree. I was expecting these tiny little scoop of a salad and hummus and we got literally a regular size plate of each, with plenty of warm pita bread. The dinners plates were pretty good size. All this for 13 dollars. The staff is super friendly and attentive. I'm decorated walls with Turkish history really set the mood for a wonderful time.
