I'm always looking for good Chicago style thin crust on the north side. I've found good New York and Neapolitan slices but my Chicago experiences have been mostly disappointing. Enter Tortorice's- I ordered a two topping pizza on a gross rainy Sunday for delivery just on a whim and it was AMAZING! The cheese and sauce ratio was perfect, the crust didn't taste like stale cardboard and it tasted just as good heated up later as it did when it arrived. I was super impressed. It seems about on par price wise with other far inferior pizzas I've had in the city. I would love to go in and try it as I'm sure having the pizza fresh would be even more spectacular! My husband got his deep dish pizza and he liked it quite a lot. I got fried chicken and fries and I can't say I loved them. I can't judge the pizza since I didn't even bother eating it. This place though has the worst customer service ever. I came in and there were about 10 people waiting to pick up orders... Some had been waiting over an hour. There's no one at the window to help customers out. I was sitting in my apt the entire time plus if they had followed the instructions in the app, there were explicit instructions on how to contact me and the steps to deliver. This is the best Chicago pizza you will ever eat. I first had pizza then tried the rest of the menu. I can honestly say after my 8 plus years going here I have never had a bad fish. For all of you asking yourselves: Does the caramelized burnt cheese crust pizza at Tortorice's lives up to Peaquods? The answer is: no. Is it good? It's ok. It's just not as good as Peaquods... but will anything ever be as good as Peaquods? Probably not. I ordered my pie with fresh mushrooms, onion and spinach. The toppings were fresh and plentiful. I also enjoyed their sauce. The burnt cheese crust was just not as good as the aforementioned establishment BUT I would order from here again. Tortorice's is my go to place for extra thin cut sausage pizza. Pros - Good quality, well made, and tasty. Service has always been great and consistent. Delivery guys are also pleasant. Cons - They are a little pricey, and extra large one topping was $27 for delivery (not sure if there is a delivery charge, but it isnt listed on their menus). The side salads are ridiculously small. It's listed as for two. the question I asked was, two who? children? It's expensive for what you actually get. I just make my own salads at home while waiting for it to arrive. Lastly, with being a mile down the street, I scratch my head at their delivery time being 45 min+. I know, I know. Why don't I just go get it myself? I'm lazy when I order out pizza, that's why!
