I ate the eggplant on the left side of the pan - that's all the sauce that was left after I took out the eggplant.

I ordered the eggplant parmesan and was excited when I saw the packaging - it looked like significant portion. But I cut into it only to find that it was mostly sauce and cheese, followed by breading, and then very little eggplant under it all. To make it worse, the garlic bread was too stale to eat, the fries were either hard or soggy and none worth eating. I requested the house vinaigrette for the salad, and they sent a creamy peppercorn dressing. I also ordered a pizza with mushrooms. The crust was like cardboard and there were hardly any mushrooms.

The customer service was outstanding. I ordered a slice of sausage pizza and enjoyed it but no wow factor. I do plan to go back and try the then crispy crust.

A super heavy box holds the deep dish

I have been a fan of Pequods for a long time, and didn't think there were any other places that could compare. I always hated the wait there, but it was a necessary evil. Boy was I wrong. Browsing Yelp one night for a new pizza joint near my new apartment, I came across Tortorice's and thought the pictures looked good. I typically don't care much for deep dish, but this looked so much like Pequod's I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered a 12" deep dish pie with caramelized crust, and on top got giardiniera and pepperoni. When it arrived I was impressed by how heavy it was. Opening the box revealed a beautiful pizza covered in a protective sheet of paper. The pizza tasted delicious at first bite and the crust was just as good as the other place. In fact, it was so good I finished the whole thing in one sitting! Since this experience, I've been telling all my friends about it and will definitely make this my go-to spot, especially when COVID is gone and I can go in person.

Service: We think this pizza is incredible. In fact, we have posted prior on just that. This post is about customer service and the integrity of leadership. We had an order that was missing an item. It happens, and I can't say the pizza would have been blah without it. I called, and I spoke to the manager, Wyatt. He listened and managed the situation. Within an hour, we had the pizza delivered by a team member. Forever our Business. Shout out, Wyatt!

    Mess of a soggy pizza

Updated review - Management reached out after my prior experience when they did not prepare the pizza correctly. We were happy to give them another try and this time they nailed it. Pizza was delivered as instructed (well done and uncut) and tasted great. It held up MUCH better to delivery this way. We had a crisp and fresh pizza, instead of a soggy mess. Toppings were good as well (pep and garlic on half, sausage and hot peppers on half). Get the burnt cheese crust as well! If you're picky about your pizza preparation the way I am, my only recommendation is to make sure the store repeats your order back to you.

I really enjoy their pizza. Favorite is the thin crust cooked a little extra! Haven't had any issues.

Standard Chicago pizza. Dough was a lil dry. Ask for extra sauce. Cheese was on point.

I ordered for a scheduled pickup time and they hadn't even started making the food when I arrived. Waited a very long time.

Speaking of the bar, I got myself a pint of the Golden Road Mango Cart, which did have a fragrance of mangoes. I was a bit annoyed the bartender asked for my ID thinking I was a high schooler (I guess white people in Chicago generally don't have any meaningful relationship with Asians compared to other major cities because this wasn't a one time thing - and I've been to a lot of cities), but at least he tried to smooth it out with a joke. Fine, moving on. I got myself a personal deep dish pizza, since this joint is known for their caramelized crust, although I did wish I got myself a small instead so I can have it delivered in the pan itself. Maybe next time, but I did eat the whole thing. The sauce was more on the bitter and acidic side. The toppings aren't layered and hiding underneath cheese like some other places, which is fine, but I did think it could've used more mushrooms and a more even distribution of toppings considering how thick the bread is. Overall it was worth going out of my way to try it once, as it was highly recommended to me, I'd say it takes #2 so far of all the pizza places I've tried in Chicago. Granted, I didn't have time or didn't come with anyone to share a bunch of things, but maybe next time.

They push the Mediterranean Bread, and honestly, you should let them. It's enormous, blistered, fragrant, and arrives like a hot air balloon made of carbs. More importantly, it gives you something genuinely delicious to tear into while you wait for the pizza pot pies to emerge from whatever subterranean chamber they're baked in. It's both a starter and a survival tool. A reservation is non‑negotiable unless you enjoy contemplating your own mortality in a weekend crowd. The wait times can stretch so long you could starve to death before your name is called -- and the regulars will nod knowingly as they step around your skeleton. Plan ahead. The salads are comically oversized, the kind of portions that make you wonder if they're meant for a family of four or a single very determined marathon runner. But let's be honest: no one is here for lettuce. We're all here for the pizza pot pie, that molten, bread‑wrapped, cheese‑laden dome of joy that defies every attempt at categorization. It's not deep dish, it's not thin crust -- it's its own thing entirely, and that's the point. This is the place you bring out‑of‑town guests when you want to show them something uniquely Chicago without defaulting to the usual deep‑dish suspects. But it's also the place you come back to on your own, because once you've had that pizza pot pie, it lives rent‑free in your brain until you return.
