Happy Mother's Day... It's something we don't usually do as this busy day makes our experience more chaotic and hectic besides I take care of mom on more than just one day but since I didn't have any plans or errands to do I decided to take her out at some places that she's been asking me and decided to do and Totoya was a place she's been asking for as well so checking out their third location in Aiea sounded like the perfect thing to do. We arrived just before they opened and with just a few guests waiting outside I thought that we had a chance for their first seating which we did and it was just nice. Can't really say which location is more spacious as it's all pretty cozy but the staff does work the system well as we sat on the counter hugging the kitchen I sat next to a lady who was very loud and it really destroyed my vibe and talked throughout the whole time is my only complaint but we enjoyed our bowls...Negitoro with crab miso soup for mom and Salmon Ikura for me with Ikura on the side. What makes it nice is the fast service and self service water and ginger they have table side so there's no flagging down anyone as you are able to enjoy your meal at your own pace. If you don't finish their generous portion you can take it home which take out is a new thing that they're doing as well is a nice option since they get so busy and are able to enjoy at your leisure wherever you are but on this Mother's Day it was very nice and happy mom is happy me as well. Thank you!

Went in on Thursday, and no line! was greeted as I walked in and sat down. Served was very friendly and ready to answer any questions I had since it was my first time. Restaurant was very clean and bright! All the condiments located in front of you. Also self serve pitcher of water and glasses. Decided on the Matsu bowl with the egg/shoyu. Wow! It looked so delicious! Followed the instructions on how to eat my negitoro bowl. Everything tasted so fresh! Next time I'll order the ikura shower, I like that salty burst of flavor! I wish I could order more uni too haha! I certainly will be back for more!

We went right when the restaurant opened at 5 pm and were the third party to be greeted and seated. The shop is cozy aka small, but comfortable and not too noisy. The menu is simple but the offerings are tasty. I'm not a huge ikura fan so I settled on a maguro bowl with a side order of snow crab and nori. It was delicious and fresh and I'd definitely order it again. The crab miso soup was tasty but I'd probably get the plain one next time as I was so full after my bowl I could barely finish it

Negitoro (ネギトロ) is a popular Japanese sushi topping made from minced raw tuna mixed with green onions. It traditionally combines fatty tuna (toro) scraps scraped from between the bones with green onions (negi), though modern versions often use minced, blended tuna mixed with oils to create a rich, creamy texture. (Google) Totoya is known for its Negitoro. This is the second location on Oahu. The first Totoya is located in Kaimuki. We stumbled upon this Aiea location when we went to the Roast Duck Kitchen. My daughter, who is visiting from CA, wanted roast duck with cake noodles for lunch. Lo and behold, she saw the Totoya sign and changed her mind, when I said ... my treat. Neither of us had tried Totoya. We both heard about the delicious rice bowls topped with Ikura (salmon roe/fish eggs). The restaurant is small in size. There is counter seating and a few tables against the wall. Clean tables and nice wall decor. I did not check if there was a bathroom. Service was attentive and 5 stars. Water jug provided on the table. Our order came out quickly. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. We each ordered a different bowl. See photos. I really enjoyed my maguro lover bowl that was filled with maguro slices that had been seasoned in a shoyu like sauce. Rice was nicely prepared and I highly recommend getting the nori pieces to wrap some rice and maguro into a hand roll to devour! A happy and delicious meal here at Totoya.

Fresh food? Check! Friendly staff? Check! Cozy space? Check! Are you are hungry for Negitoro, check out this place! Space is limited so expect a line. When we visited, there wasn't a system for waiting customers. We just stood in line and were called in wherever seats were available. Ikura shower comes with a cool performance from the staff~ :) Eat fresh & Have FUN!

The food was delicious, fresh fish and flavorful. The food quality is high. The service was smooth. The ambiance is calm and cozy for a small area. The portion size is decent to the price.

Outside... located next to Ice Garden... go before opening and stand in line!

Lunch in Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i... This third location of Totoya is the best one because of the parking... LOL! There's FREE covered parking at Aiea Shopping Center! This Totoya is on the same level as McDonald's, and is between Ice Garden and Koa Pancake House. I would recommend coming before opening time to stand in line. I arrived after 11am and the first round of customers were already seated inside of the cozy shop. There was a long line to get in and I waited about an hour for my turn. Luckily, it was overcast... or else I would be sunburnt or soaking wet from the recent downpours. The system was very efficient. While we were waiting in line, the staff handed out menus and took our orders. We were seated in an organized manner where our food was brought promptly! I had ordered the Fukuju which had a tower of scallops, uni, salmon, tobiko, red shrimp, snow crab, tuna, and original negitoro. The bowl included two pieces of nori which i used to make loose handrolls. I appreciated the complimentary bowl of seaweed soup that washed everything down. I did grind some sesame seeds over everything, but I actually didn't need more flavoring because I added on the Ikura Shower for $9.80! That was really fun! Everything was delicious, beautiful, and fresh! Staff were friendly, cheerful, and personable! I look forward to returning, especially since I have a Loyalty Card!

Today, Feb 15 is the first day open at Aiea location. There's a sign in sheet and just write your name on the clipboard. They open at 11 am - 2pm for lunch. We came around at 1130 am and got called about 12 noon The food is delicious. Great customer services. And if you get the ikura shower they do a little cheer. So recommend it. At least one of your party should try it. Yes. We will be coming back again. Thanks for reading.

After dining at the original location in Kaimuki last year, our friend told us that there are now two additional locations in Ala Moana and Aiea. We loved the kaiseki bowls and had on dining list for this recent visit. We were planning to dine at the Ala Moana location on a Saturday, but it was closed due to the storm. The next day, we were out in the Aiea area, so we stopped by their newest location on the second level in the Aiea Shopping Center. Arriving at 12:15pm, there was only a party of three in front of us. After about 13 minutes wait, the four us were seated at the counter. This location also has two tables for four as well. One friend and I ordered the Miyabi, which as 2 pcs of Tuna, Original Negitoro, Red shrimp. Scallops, Salmon roe, Tobiko over sushi rice and 2 pcs of Nori. Before starting, I used sesame grinder to sprinkle some sesame seeds over the bowl. Then I used the nori to create two handrolls before continuing to eat my Miyabi bowl. All the seafood was so fresh and delicious. You get a bowl of miso soup and I put some Yuzu shichimi in it. It does put a little spice in your soup. Two of my friends had the Rainbow Trio bowl and enjoyed it. The kaisen bowls brought back memories of how good it was the first time. It did not disappoint. So glad the wait was not as long as last year at the original location.

Make sure to mix this and add to your bowl!

Awesome place if you want a piece of Japan. The staff are super friendly and you have to wait a little bit since they do not take reservations but it is worth it! Go early to find free parking in the shopping area. Make sure to get your egg, mix it and pour all your bowl! Great ambiance to enjoy your meal with family or bring your loved ones visiting. Enjoy!

Excited that they started lunch on Wednesdays, arrived shortly after 10:30 and they opened at 11am. Love that they're located closer to home (in Aiea next to ice garden) and the space is bigger than Kaimuki and Ala Moana. There's 8 seats at the counter and two tables that seat 4. Ordered the salad, fukuju bowl with miso soup and egg shoyu. The yuzu dressing for the salad and the yuzu ginger were good. Everything was yummy and filling.

This location is in a convenient area with enough parking in the second floor of Aiea Shopping Center. I've already been to this location twice and I'm sure I'll be coming back many more times. Their Matsu Negitoro bowls are delicious and very filling, and comes with miso soup, but I subbed with their half size udon. The Matsu has original Negitoro with salmon roe and sea urchin and when mixed, is so so good! Trust me! Do check this place out!

Came in at the best time, last seating/call! Didn't realize it but hey, it worked out perfectly. Randomly decided to dine in since it's closer to home now! Love Totoya and have been to all three locations! The server was so helpful in guiding me to the restroom, she walked me all the way to the bathroom. The food is always so oishii, no matter what you end up ordering. To me, I think not adding too much different fish is better...less is more, so that's what I'm ordering the next time! I love that this location has actual tables for families like mine. Can't wait for my next visit!!

For months, people have been telling me about their dried aku, and I kept saying "soon, soon." Well, soon finally happened, and I have nobody to blame but myself for waiting this long. Now, before I go any further -- yes, I forgot to take photos. I know. I know. But here's the thing: the moment that dried aku hit the table, all my food blogger instincts went completely out the window. It was just me and that fish, and nothing else mattered. The dried aku was everything the hype promised -- deeply savory, with that concentrated, almost smoky flavor you only get when something is made with real patience and skill. The kind of dish that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. Absolutely ono. No notes. Next time -- and there will be a next time, probably very soon -- I'm going in for the laulau. There is something deeply confusing about Mitch's Fish Market & Sushi Bar…read more Not bad confusing.Worse. Identity-crisis confusing. Because the fish?Excellent. Cold, clean, glistening with that dangerous little shimmer that tells you somebody in the supply chain actually cared. You can taste the quality immediately. The kind of quality that silences a table for half a second. And credit where it is due: almost everything I tried ranged from very good to genuinely great. But then the room begins speaking. And suddenly the spell breaks. The atmosphere feels like someone took a serious sushi counter, stripped away all sensuality, all elegance, all ritual, then dropped it inside a fluorescent island diner where exhausted civilians came to discuss parking validation and Costco receipts. It is the culinary equivalent of wearing a Rolex with orthopedic sneakers. The contradiction never stops humming beneath the experience. You sit there eating beautiful fish while surrounded by an energy that feels strangely... transactional. Heavy. Casual in the least flattering way. A room with no mystery. No seduction. No gravity. Like Zippy's accidentally wandered into the tuna trade and struck gold. And on an island like Oahu, where atmosphere matters almost as much as the fish itself that becomes a real problem. Because sushi is not merely consumption. It is theater.Restraint.Texture.Whispered precision. The best sushi spots on Oahu understand this instinctively. They understand that exceptional fish alone is not enough. You are paying for transportive experience. For mood. For elegance. For the feeling that the evening exists slightly outside ordinary life. At Mitch's, the fish reaches for Tokyo while the room drags you back toward a tired strip mall off the freeway. And then there's the crowd. Not evil people. Not rude people. Just an oddly low-rent energy orbiting genuinely premium seafood. The kind of room where one table is eating remarkable otoro while another feels one argument away from discussing used-car financing over soy sauce packets. It creates dissonance. Especially considering the prices. Because at those prices, you begin comparing the full experience not merely the fish quality and that is where Mitch's stumbles hard. There are multiple sushi spots across Oahu that equal or surpass the seafood while also delivering beauty, atmosphere, intimacy, and actual emotional texture. So what remains is this strange contradiction: Mitch's serves fish far above the dignity of its own ambience Which almost makes it fascinating. Would I be back - no . You can get same and better quality fish, much better vine, better part of town for the same Price.
