When we can, we have brunch/early lunch in Morristown after church and the Morristown Farmer's Market. Today, we ate at Town Bar and Kitchen, and we were seated at one of their rooftop tables. It was a great experience in every way, and we'll definitely return! The rooftop is a charming setting, with just a few tables, so it wasn't noisy for brunch. Was really looking fwd to this place.... Friday night, no reservation... gave our name, with the expectation of 30 or so minutes for a table for two. Morristown is growing up fast, and this addition is elevating the entire neighborhood. After 20 minutes we were offered a lone hightop far off in no mans land, and were told we could take that one or wait probably another 20 minutes.. We took the gamble and decided to wait, the drink selection had us well entertained for the time being. Another 40 minutes later we approached the podium to check how our table was coming... and were told there was no chance that we would get a table. I am not sure what happened. We were offered little more than a shoulder shrug and "sorry". By this time we were ravenous and a little more than let down. We were not updated accordingly and our expectations were led to have confidence that it was not if we were to get a table but when. We departed to an old favorite across the street. Not a great first time experience here and will be hesitant to return based on the service. The food we had was delicious though. My boyfriend and I had reservations for 6:15pm on a Wednesday night. Our waitress Sandy, was not knowledgeable at all about the wines or in any hurry to serve us. It probably took over 10 minutes for us to get the bottle of wine we asked for. We discovered by calling her over that she was trying to find the manager to get our bottle of wine. We had to call her over again, still waiting for the wine, to put in our order. We ordered the meat and cheese boards with olives. They were delicious! Only downside was the olives were tasteless and had an odd texture. Sandy returned once to ask us if we wanted to order anything else but never asked us how our food was. We had long finished our bottle of wine and decided it was time to leave when we had to wave her down to give her our credit card. It was only when she was dropping off the check that she became interested in the fact that we clearly did not like the olives. She did have them removed from the bill and had to rerun the credit card for the total with the $5 discount. While this was the right thing to do, it was too little too late. While I am not a brunch professional, I do like to treat the experience much as I would a dinner. Appetizer, entree, and dessert. That being said, Town made my brunch dreams come true. My ladies and I started with the French Toast. I love French toast and I generally have high hopes. This did not disappoint. It was the perfect thickness and the perfect amount of syrup. The butter had citrus in it and the flavor blended so well. I would've been happy if that was all I ate. But naturally, there was more. I ordered the smoked salmon bagel and it was delicious. There was the right balance of salmon and cream cheese and capers and onions. Bonus points for being on an everything bagel. And since I had every intention on eating all the carbs, there was potatoes on the side. We finished by splitting the Town waffles. Fluffy warm waffles with some bananas and ice cream and oh my god, I'm not sure I'll find a brunch to compete with this one. Cocktails were great. Service was on point (thanks Chris!) he was knowledgeable, friendly, and pretty hilarious. The ambience of the restaurant is great and I'm really looking forward to the rooftop season. Unfortunately we started with the seafood tower special which was lacking in every manner except the shrimp. For 65$ I really expected fresh seafood and when they served us mushy tuna and canned crabmeat along w no fixings for the oysters, it fell very very short. We even asked our server for sauces for the oysters and we never got them. The wings and truffle French fries were good. I ordered the pasta dish with the short rib as they did not have cacio e Pepe, and it was very bland. Tasted more like pulled pork than short rib, and was lacking a layer I was expecting for a 25$ pasta dish. Overall and for a price point where the food is not on the same level, I hate to say it but I would skip this place. read more

TOWN is a nice restaurant on two levels in Morristown. The interior is very inviting with a cool brick wall decor. There is a bar with televisions that can appeal to the sports fan. My wife and in-laws joined me on a Friday night and the place was hopping. It was louder than most places so table conversation was a bit challenging, but the overall experience was still enjoyable. We started with a salad and empanadas, which were plump and tasty. I substituted a pistachio dressing that I was not a fan of. For the main course, I went with seafood saffron risotto and it was amazing. The portion size was good with chunks of lobster, octopus and shrimp mixed in very well. My wife had the prime rib end it was well done just like she requested. We also ordered fries that were extremely delicious. Our waitress was Taylor, who was bustling with energy and had a smile on her face throughout the evening. Her drink was much more pleasant and a good fall drink with cinnamon and apple flavoring. We ordered the tuna tartare and the sampler. We really enjoyed the tuna tartare. It was tart and the chips were a good combination. The sampler was okay and a tad expensive for what you're getting, but a good option if you're sharing food wit a group of people. I'd recommend this place solely for drinks because everything else is overpriced. We've been trying to come here for a few weeks however, It can be tough to get a reservation during the weekend if you want to eat at prime time so we made a reservation for one night during the week. We had the pleasure of enjoying the beautiful evening on the rooftop bar. The whole experience made for a pleasant evening. From the top notch service to the amazing food it was a very nice evening. The restaurant understood the value of courses and allowing us to finish appetizers before the entrees. We started out with the tuna avocado app and the sampler and both were delicious. If I could make a suggestion the chips with the tuna dip where very thin and made it difficult to scope the dip but the taste was top notch! Their chicken/rice balls are very unique and a must try item. I enjoyed the chicken entree and it was cooked to perfection. The flavor was great and made for a nice meal. This hot spot by the Morristown train station has been open 9 weeks and has garnered a lot of attention for those seeking a restaurant with a bar scene. It delivers big time on vibe, driven in my opinion, exclusively by the decor, wine, beer and spirit selection and great bartenders! Where it falls short is on the food. Our server was initially a bit aloof, some might say unfriendly. But she warmed up as the night went on. The arugula salad was a highlight in terms of taste but pretty basic. The tuna tartare appetizer was fresh but lacking acid and flavor. The poached shrimp included in the raw trio were a bit chewy. The scallop entree was tasty but the presentation was a bit lackluster. Our friends both ordered the pork chop over lentils. While it was cooked nicely and tasted fine, the plating was very off-putting. It was brown brown and more mucky brown on a plate. The side of Brussels with pancetta was good but not spectacular-I've had better. The asparagus were covered in a hollandaise type sauce and not terribly appealing. The craft beer and wine selections were terrific. Great tequila options too. If there is one reason to go here (aside from the cool bar scene) it is the Cookie Monster dessert-pure heaven. Freshly baked chocolate cookies with ice cream layered with Oreo cookie crunch and whipped cream. Indulgent and totally calorie worthy! This place has potential but I will wait until it refines the food and service a bit. Love the space and Motown could use an establishment like this so fingers crossed that it improves. read more

Went for a late dinner here last night. Very crowded but the management and staff are unbelievably friendly. We had to wait a few minutes for our reserved table to open up but the manager was very apologetic and sat us near the door while we waited. We started with the arancini, highly recommended. Not spicy necessarily but the sauce is very flavorful. For dinner, I had the gnocchi, so unique... definitely not your standard gnocchi, more of a potato pancake with brisket on top. Delicious. My fiancé had the burger - perfect. Tons of bacon and caramelized onions are a favorite of ours. We also may have had a few rounds of drinks. Sue me, We walked there. I had the Honeybee cocktail - good but a bit lemony for me. The Stafford was not my fave but maybe I don't like Mezcal, who knows. The Grapefruit rumble was probably my fave of the three and I don't like grapefruit soooo that's a mystery. This place is a breath of fresh air. Can't wait to come back and try some dessert. I was at TOWN with 3 other people a couple of days ago and in my opinion, this is the best spot in Morristown. I've been here a few times and I love this place. I had a really good habanero pineapple margarita which had an excellent kick to it - not overpowering but still hotter than your typical jalapeno margarita. Refreshing summer drink! The food here is fantastic and you have great variety as well. The oysters, empanada, and arancini apps are so good! When it comes to the entrees, you cannot go wrong with any of the short rib dishes, the seafood risotto or the cacio e pepe fiocchi. Great stuff! The only knock on this place is that seemingly the menu hasn't really changed much. It would be nice to switch up some of the entrees during the different seasons. If they already did, maybe I potentially overlooked it on the menu. Overall, TBK continues to provide excellent service, food and drinks. I always look forward to going here. A decent dinner option in Morristown with a spacious venue and a bar upstairs and downstairs that caters to the local business crowd. It's good for larger groups as they have a decent menu range. Service, although decently friendly, can be slow and it takes well over 20 min to get your food. Portions are also very small and they forgot sides and some apps (eg. brought out 2 orders of fish tacos instead of one each of the fish tacos and calamari). Food is only 2 stars MAX as was service but +1 star for ambiance. A food recap: 1. Duck chips: Hand cut potato chips with tiny pieces of duck breast. Not that great. 2. Charcuterie platter: Pretty standard with a tiny portion of salty prosciutto, soft Brie cheese, and mini popovers. Definitely very small and feeds maybe one. The popovers were the best part and even they were denser than expected. 3. Calamari: Again pretty meh. It was edible but not that great 4. Pork chop: This was edible but very dry. They also forgot my side and I had to ask. Thankfully they did bring as the sausage, kale, tomato, and cheese blend was the highlight - savory, indulgent, and very flavorful. 5. Chopped salad: The lettuce was wilted and there was one tiny piece of feta. Skip. 6. Brussels sprouts with chopped bacon: This was tiny but good - butter-braised shredded Brussels sprout with plenty of chopped crispy bacon. 7. Seafood risotto: Small-ish portion with small pieces of shrimp, calamari, octopus and 1 piece of lobster in a semi-creamy saffron jus. It's a rich dish that was decently flavored but the rice itself was not very tender. read more

Such a random find! This place is so cute and chic. We made reservations for a Friday night and gave us an option for indoor or outdoor dining. It was a chilly day so we stayed indoor however they had about 3-4 igloo with heaters outside. The place was decorated elegantly and seems like a lot of young professionals come for happy hour! We were seated upstairs and the server was attendant at first but towards the end she was MIA and when she was around she wouldn't even acknowledge us. Almost all the time we had to grab any random worker who passed us, a bit disappointing. The food was amazing - we had the short rib garganelli which was so tender and the pasta was perfectly cooked we finished the whole bowl of it. The drinks were all cute and very interesting, we tried 3 different cocktails. Our favorite was the touch of gray, it was a refreshing drink! I used my foot and my elbow to open everything I almost got sick. When I got back to my seat at the bar, my friend had to use the bathroom and I gave her napkins from the bar to open the doors and told her not to touch anything. So, three months ago I came to Town on my first date with the love of my life, we just had our three month anniversary/post Valentines Day dinner at Town and WOW! Service, decour, cleanliness were all amazing, but the food was even better! We shared the cheese board and olive plate, my girlfriend also had the shrimp cocktail, all delicious and beautifully presented. Wine list is stellar. For entrees I had the gnocchi, stupendous, she had the scallops and a side of shredded Brussels sprouts, again, presentation, taste and quality are off the charts. First visit to Town Bar & Kitchen last night. It was early, we had seen an afternoon show at the Mayo and wanted dinner before another event. Place was basically empty except for a group heading upstairs for a party. We were seated close to the kitchen on the first floor, directly under a bright light. Tables were so close together I couldn't get into the banquette without moving it, maybe 6 inches between tables. Ordered sangria which was awful. Some kind of medicine taste that I have never experienced before. Calamari was ok - very spicy which was fine but the crispy fennel was inedible. Calamari is good all on its own - sometimes too much fussing ruins things. I had shrimp saffron risotto and my husband had the flank steak. Neither was very good. Shrimp was very seafood-y, not a good sign with shrimp. Steak was tough and dry. Service only ok - two different waiters. As we sat there we noticed other people arriving and being shown to the seating area upstairs, meanwhile we were still alone near the kitchen. I often wonder if "hip" places like this subtly discriminate against older couples (we are 50 so not old at all but not young either). We didn't feel comfortable or particularly welcome. Won't ever go back. Morristown has way better dining options but what a disappointment. Looks so welcoming and lovely from the outside. read more

The space is really nice, it's a beautiful building. I really appreciate the decor, music and ambiance. I have to try the outdoor rooftop next time we are here, it seemed like the place to be. The food was really good, my wife and I both had the shrimp with risotto. It was superb, highly recommended. The chocolate chip bread pudding was simply delicious, I could eat that all day. We had a few minor issues initially, but the staff were quick to make everything wonderful. Todd was amazing, and ensured that the rest of our experience was one in which it would make us come back for more. I give him back props and hope to see him again soon. We actually found this place on Yelp as we were looking for a new cute place to eat. The look of the restaurant and the the host were on point, we were taken to a cute table on the second floor. Restaurant was empty as it was the beginning of the dinner shift. when it came to our server, she really didnt know what she was doing. We order drinks, and she brought them separate so we had to wait to toast. Then we asked her a question on the menu and she had to ask someone about it. Which already took her ten minutes doing so, as she was kind of socializing with her co workers. When she cameback she still didnt know the informtaion we need, as they had some dinner promo online , but they were from February and they were still on the online menu. She goes downstairs to find out how to price since, they didnt even had the items for it. She never comeback for another 25 minutes, and only came back because as the host was seating another group by our table we told her we been waiting for too long. By now we had already finished our drinks and waiter comesback to say they are still trying to figure out the price. So we ended up leaving. We still got charged for our drinks, there was no attempt to accomodate us or appologies. Waiter just says ok no problem and brings us the bill. I dont ever plan on coming to this restaurant again, and oh by the way, nothing in the menu was impressive and everything was overpriced. read more
