Went here for a quick date night. Ambiance was really nice visually-- music was a little loud for my taste (brunch vibes at 6pm on a Thursday). Staff was kind and helpful-- started with the lollipop wings-- they were okay. Crispy on the outside with some kick to 'em. For entrees, I had the Sautéed Shrimp, which didn't live up to expectations. Risotto was bland and the little flavor on the shrimp wasn't enough to hold up the entree. My lady had the Pear pasta, which she really enjoyed. All in all, I think we would've had better luck with the happy hour menu rather than pay what we did for just okay food. We were invited to a rehearsal dinner at the Town Bar & Kitchen. It is hard to imagine a restaurant today that does not have an elevator to the second floor, but they did not. Being a senior, it was hard for me to do the stairs. However, we were extremely impressed with the drinks, appetizers, salad, dinner and desserts offered. I've dined here a handful of times, and it's usually been a great experience. However, my most recent visit over the weekend was extremely disappointing. I understand that mistakes can happen in the food industry, but food safety should always be a top priority. First impression - this place is way bigger than I expected. I really like the style and structure of the restaurant (has 2 floors and a rooftop area, which I didn't go to). Came with a friend for lunch. We shared the tuna tartar app and the calamari. The calamari was good. I liked the sauce and the caramelized pineapple it was tossed with. The tuna tartar was very bland and totally uninspired. The tuna was mushy and seemed to be missing the sauce and seasoning it was supposed to come with. It was stacked on top of mashed, very cold, unseasoned avocado. Blah. I had the sautéed shrimp with risotto. It tasted good but the portion was small for the price. My friend had the cacio e pepe. She said it was good but that it had a sweetness to it that she didn't seem so sure about. Maybe it was the pear in the pasta. We shared the banoffie pie for desert which was also small and just ok. The interior is cool and rustic with the brick walls and high ceilings. The staff were all fine from the hostess to the waitress to the runner/server. Nobody was particularly warm or pleasant though. Here's the deal ! Great restaurant /bar tucked away on a side street near the Morristown train station. They have a quiet side street for outdoor tables. A 1st level open bar area with TV's high top tables . Upstairs has a nice rooftop area which can also host private events! The menu isn't hugh, but there is a nice variety of items . We had the app of calamari, which was very good. It had a nice balance of sweet & heat. Would definitely recommend for sharing. The tuna tartare (not shown) also very good, a bit small for 2 people. The main dishes we ordered were a special black cod & pork chop . Both were very good and offered a great depth of flavor. I wanted some crostini bread to scoop up the delicious tomato bacon spinach "jam"/ "chutney" under the chop. We were quickly seated. We sat outside. The tables are spread apart nicely. Our waitress was competent and quick. The kitchen seemed a bit slow, but not bad. We ordered Arancini Balls. They are beautifully plated. Their taste was ok. I ate half of one. I didn't want to eat more. It was cooked perfectly though, very crisp. The sauce tasted like Chicken Kitchen sauce from Miami, or Pollo Tropical yellow sauce. But this wasn't as good. It was a bit bland for me and my wife. I'm sure most of the customers in this area would disagree, so take that for what it's worth. We also ordered the empanadas. They were good. They were cooked nicely. I prefer them cooked a tad more, but the kitchen did a great job. I ordered the burger for lunch. It came back cooked to the correct temperature. I ordered medium-rare and it came back a beautiful warm red center. The onions were a little overwhelmingly sweet, but it's easy to scoop some out. The bacon was a little chewy, which is perfect to me. I would ask for it crispy if you like it crispy. The fries can be regular, Old Bay, or truffle. I did not ask if it was truffle oil, because I won't eat that, but I hope it wasn't. Either way, I got the regular fries. It was a great portion. They were just limp. I prefer them crispier. They had a soggy mouthfeel. I would ask for them extra crispy. I respect the menu and the kitchen, thus the rating. But I don't think I'll come back. It would be 3 stars in Manhattan. read more

Recently tried TBK for a work event last week. The ambiance of this restaurant is very exclusive yet inviting. I will say that this space for a work event is not ideal. The upstairs area was too small to fit our party. We had to stand for most of the night. However, this is the perfect spot for a date night or a night out with friends. While the prices for TBK aren't outrageous, it's definitely a little more upscale than the average restaurant in town (comparing it to The Office or The Frog). It's somewhere to dress up a little and look presentable. Dressy/Casual vibes. Similar to Stirling Tavern, also in Morristown. When it comes to the food here, it's absolutely delicious. Since the party, we've come back twice in a weekend to have lunch here. The Heirloom Tomato Salad is my favorite. It's so simple, yet enough food and the flavors combined are incredible. The Tuna Tartare and Vegetable Arancini are delectable. My mom tried the Cacio e Pepe with pear, which was also exceptional. We sat in their rooftop lounge which was just spectacular. You feel so secluded like you're in another world. As I mentioned above, TBK would be a very romantic place to go for a date. I'd highly recommend taking someone here. Great food and atmosphere. The roof top seating area is super cute. I would come back when it's warmer for drinks only. The food was ok. I ordered the salmon over the chopped salad, which after receiving it l couldn't believe that it is $13($22 with the salmon). I don't mind paying for good food but there's no way that this salad was worth $13. A piece of salmon was also on the smaller side. It was probably just a mishap with my friend ordered the grill shrimp entrée and it tasted like soap. I understand mistakes happen and I'm hoping that this was just one. I also ordered a side of asparagus which was pretty standard but again overpriced. Restaurants are really trying to do their best given the situation so I really don't like to give not such a great review. I live right around the corner from here and I truly want to love this place because it's easy to walk to and they have outdoor sitting. Also good if you are meeting someone that is driving in because there is parking near. The food is mediocre at best and the vegetarian options are extremely limited and not the best. Drinks are okay, but definitely can't compete with other places in Morristown. Every time I end up there I leave disappointed. Conclusion: Don't make this your number one choice for dinner or drinks but a good backup option when you can't get in to the other restaurants or when you want to sit outside and everywhere else is packed. read more

Huge space in Morristown on Elm street. Believe it used to be something else. The restaurant is beautiful. Modern / casual settings. We had a large party today in the semi-private room upstairs that had access to a fireplace outside. Very nice. We all split tons of starters, the chicken lollipop wings are HOT! Manageable, but I wasn't expecting that level of spice. Very good. Grab some bread too once it comes out warm. They have salted butter too. When it came time to order, two of us couldn't figure it out so we just ordered more sides and starters. Short rib starter was fantastic, ceviche was good (but hard to share served in a martini glass), tuna tartare was very good and a generous portion, fish tacos were so-so, and the lobster Mac and cheese was insane. The fish was all cooked perfectly, had a taste of the cedar plank salmon. Nice and juicy. We couldn't pass up desserts, especially the locally made ice cream (peanut butter chocolate, yum). My second time here and nothing but good things to say! To begin the staff is super accommodating, friendly and funny even. The space is elegant and trendy. Variety of unique cocktails, I don't remember the names exactly, but great array of seasonal drinks to pick from. We started with the chicken lollipops, meaty and tasty and all shared the shrimp, swordfish and duck. All cooked to perfection, flavorful and fresh! We finished with the Cookie Monster dessert (treat yourself am I right) which includes local ice cream from Bennies. SO worth the calories. I just love the ambiance and atmosphere at Town Bar and Kitchen! It is such a great vibe and place to bring friends for Happy Hour and family to dinner. The food is also fantastic. I ordered the Arancini, which if you follow my page - you know is one of my favorite dishes, and it is so delicious. Unfortunately it doesn't come with 4 so since my boyfriend and I went with another couple, we couldn't each have our own. For dinner I ordered the Grass Fed Short Rib Garganelli. The pasta was a little mushy so I recommend you ask for the pasta al dente. The only thing I was disappointed in was the cocktails. I ordered the Habanero Pineapple Margarita which wasn't spicy and didn't have a pineapple flavor. All in all I enjoy coming here and will return but be prepared to spend a lot of money. read more

Very good local eatery serving up mainly American cuisine in a casual atmosphere. Great variety of cocktails and beer. A nice selection of liquors, and the tablet/touch-screen menu was a nice touch, complete with photos, etc. Wings were not overly spicy, cooked well with a crisp skin. Calamari was not heavily fried, with a spicy sweet sauce. A tasty and different variety. Tuna Tartare was fresh and flavorful. Pretty standard, but properly executed. Were I to return, I don't think I'd reorder the duck. It was a little tough for my liking, and the skin could have been rendered a bit more as it was a touch rubbery. Good, not great. The salmon was properly cooked and was tasty in a nice preparation. They accidentally gave our order of Old Bay fries to another table. They arrived quickly after our entrees, but perhaps a bit too quickly, as they were undercooked to my preference. Fries should be crisp. These were pretty limp. The cookie monster dessert is insane. A tower of chocolate chip cookies and brownies. 2 of each, stacked high with a dollop of whipped cream and drizzled in chocolate sauce. Easily enough for 2-4 people. Wowza! I got a laugh at the end when I perused the check. There was a $2 charge for ice in one of the cocktails. $11 cocktail. Add $2 for ice. Same drink as a double, charge was $5 for a double. The double (same drink) did not have the $2 upcharge. A touch tacky. Be aware, parking is tough. I was able to park a block or so away near the train station. Clearly not the fault of the restaurant, just a heads-up. Our server was friendly, accommodating and well versed on the menu. On Tuesday I made a reservation for 5 people + a baby for Wednesday night. Me and my family were celebrating my sister going away. And what a perfect place to have done it. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were sat promptly. I have never been here before and I wish I was told over the phone that we would be sitting upstairs. Because bringing a baby and stroller up those stairs was definitely a work out. (I did mention I had a stroller on the phone when making the reservation) Our server came and greeted up right away and started us off with waters. After giving us a few minutes my father and husband ordered old fashioneds. Now my only complaint is how my make their old fashioneds. Im a bartender and you never muddle fruit in an old fashioned. Cherry and orange rind are garnish. For myself my waiter recommended a tequila cocktail (I can't remember the name of) that was sweet and spicy and refreshing. That one was perfect. For appetizers we ordered the meat and cheese board, heirloom tomato salad, Thai calamari and oysters. Everything was amazing. Dinner we ordered 2 duck breast, the soy ginger short ribs, the salmon and cacio e pepe. I loved the duck. Over the forbidden rice and beets. Honestly one of the best duck breast I've ever had. And the short rib I could have used a spoon to eat it with. Everyone seems to really enjoy all the food. Dessert was hit or miss. I ordered the brownie. And even served with ice cream it was very dry. Flavor was fine. The Cookie Monster was good. But again even with the ice cream you needed a chisel to break the cookie. We also had the banoffe pie. Those were very tasty. I had dessert envy. Those stole the show. Espresso was good and the pick me up I needed. My brother ordered a cappuccino. Now he can be snobby with his coffee. But he pointed out he was not a fan of the cappuccino glass. It made it impossible to drink. You either just got foam or had to tip the tall skinny glass all the way back to get to the cappuccino. Sounds silly I know. My only other complaint is how extremely warm it was inside. There was even a window open behind us (that was letting in lantern flies all around our table) but we didn't want it closed because it was the only breeze we got. Overall it was a very good night. Beyond disappointed, went here for lunch today (my first time going and will be my last) we stood at the front of the restaurant for 15 minutes waiting for the hostess (and the place was very empty) after chasing down a hostess and being seated we waited 30 minutes for water. Ordered a ton of apps (which did not taste good) than our entrees came and were cold and not very good either. To top it off there was a table of 10 college kids that they sat us next too (WTF) and they were extremeley loud, drunk and obnoxious. Lunch cost me $412 with a tip, total waste of money. Over the summer I visited Town Bar & Kitchen a few times with my boyfriend and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it each time! If you can get seating on the rooftop, I'd definitely recommend trying that. It's a small space, but it's beautiful, especially on a warm summer night. For starters, the lollipop wings are great (spicy), the calamari delicious, the beef empanadas my personal favorite, and the charcuterie board is always a good idea. For entres, I recommend the flank steak which comes with a sambal marinade, fingerling potatoes, and pesto-chimichurri. I also recommend the salmon which is served on a cedar plank, with lemon-scented farro, heirloom tomatoes, brussels sprouts, and baby kale. One thing I really liked about Town Bar and Kitchen was that if there is a wait, there is a great bar that you can hang out at. Second review for this place. After being here again I can see the food will range between a 4 and a 5 star - which is still very good! I will definitely come back to see what else they put on their menu. This time around we had the steak, tuna tartare, Caesar salad, and blueberry cheesecake. Husband really enjoyed the steak - it looked like it was cooked very well. They were also super accommodating to his food allergies, so I appreciate that. The tuna tartare was pretty good. I don't think I would get it again. The flavors weren't my personal favorite. And the taro chips were a bit annoying to use a the chip to pick up the tartare because the chip broke so easily. Presentation was pretty though haha. And the Caesar salad was a bit on the bitter side for me. Perhaps too much lemon juice. The blueberry cake thoughhhhhh!!!! That was fire. It came with a chocolate sauce drizzle. Usually the chocolate sauce drizzle is just for decoration and provides nothing towards the flavor, but this chocolate sauce was decadent and there was something crunchy in there - maybe toffee bits. Make reservations. They're not needed but many restaurants don't have that as an option and TOWN Bar does. There's a beautifully decorated bar area when you first walk in. Dimly lit. Candles on each table. Brick walled. Service was slow, even though it didn't appear to be busy. I ordered the Norwegian Blue Circle Salmon with Heirloom tomatoes, Brussel sprouts, and Baby Kale. I also ordered a side of tricolor cauliflower. All were very good, but I especially enjoyed the cedar plank salmon. Perfectly cooked, which I realize, after many attempts at home, is a skill. I thought the cauliflower could have benefited from a sauté or just some additional seasoning. For dessert, I had the pumpkin spiced waffle which was served with cinnamon flavored ice cream. It's huge, guys, and worthy of a share. The cinnamon ice cream was delicious. I did wish the waffle was served warm and was softer; however, they would then have to change the entire presentation. There was a problem with one of the entrees at my table, but the GM, Todd, acknowledged the issue quickly and without us having to call him over. I must also point out the cleanliness of their bathroom. The complimentary salt scrub, hand cream, and extremely soft hand towels were a nice touch. If the bathroom isn't kept well, you shouldn't trust their kitchen. And their open kitchen was also well managed. On a sour note, I would have loved to sit upstairs and did not realize that was an option until after we were seated in the bar area. I took a quick walk upstairs and thought that floor was more worth the menu prices: less busy, more private, and one could only hope for better/more attentive service. read more

The meal portions were lacking. Now I understand it's tough times with Covid, but a half bowl of pasta for $30, and more garnishes where sides are appropriate, kind of makes it a bit of feel bad. If you ask for mid-top dollar go the full mile. I'll go here to celebrate on occasion,definitely. However, not if I'm truly hungry. read more

We come back ever so often because in theory this place should be amazing. A great venue, always good cocktails but the food is so hit and miss. The dishes are well thought out but always lack refinement and execution. Items missing, cold etc. As an example the Calamari started out great as a dish but it's evolved to the point there's barely any Calamari and it's accompanmoments dominate the plate. I will say lunch is always better than dinner....just wish it was more consistent. read more

There's a wheelchair accessible entrance with zero barrier to entry on the left-hand side- you may need to ask them to open it, but they'll be happy to do so. Such a cute find and has pretty lights hanging over it which I'm sure looks nice when it gets darker out. The restaurant itself is really pretty. Food and drinks have always been good. We took over the patio area and had some drinks and appetizers as a company team event one afternoon and the staff, venue, and food were all a great experience. As a group, we had a big variety of food and it was set out for selection, so I can't speak to any dietary modifications, etc. The food was all beautifully presented and tasty, although some things may have been better ordered and brought to the table (rather than our group situation which had a food station area you could just help yourself). Unfortunately, I refrained from drinking, but all those that ordered beverages commented on how tasty the cocktails were (be careful when you order - some were a bit on the sweet side, so ask if that's not your cocktail flavor profile, etc). I'm looking forward to coming back to try a few more of their heartier food options and *finally* indulge in some beverages one day soon! read more

Went here for the second time yesterday and once again it was amazing. The restaurant has a nice aesthetic and atmosphere, as well as a great little outdoor rooftop. The food was great and the service was fast. To start we got the Arancini (amazing), the Meat and Cheese Board, as well as the Beef Empanada. As our main plates, we ordered the Cacio e Pepe Fiocchi which was incredible, the Marinated Flank Steak which tasted great with the chimichurri sauce it came with, and the Grilled Organic Pork Chop which was a little tough but tasted also tasted very good. Like the location and the rooftop bar/seating . Staff is really nice. But value wise I was a bit disappointed. I started with the blue point oysters which were great. I was debating between salmon, swordfish and duck for main entree. Waitress told me her favorite was the salmon but swordfish and duck had just reappeared on the menu and she hadn't the chance to have it yet. I had salmon the night before so opted for duck. For an entree it was very small, more the size of a shareable plate like tapas. I could have still been happy if it was great : but no luck it was over cooked and very dry.
