Pros - the lobster roll is loaded, fresh tasting and not overly seasoned. Server was awesome and manager is attentive and cares. Central location and nice view of the lake. Cons - I'm just not a paper plate and paper cup person. It's unappetizing and incredibly wasteful. Other food was okay, Chopped Salad seemed like a "US Foods" or "Cisco" chicken patty. Perfect place to end the day on the beach area with a view of the lake. Very casual laid back atmosphere with picnic tables and beach sand at your feet. even ducks walk around that you're not supposed to feed. Staff was very friendly and nice. Food was decent. I have to admit, our expectations were pretty high. We had heard great things about this local fave, but boy were we disappointed. We had a party of 8 and expected to wait a while for a table, but after about an hour, we have up and split in to two groups of four. We ordered pretty quickly once we sat and the waiter was very pleasant. However, the food took forever to come. Forever. It was sub par at best and we could have gotten a similar lobster roll at any restaurant in Meredith. WOW, where to begin. Entered through the main entrance, was told by the hostess/cashier to proceed outback, across the outdoor seating & get in line on the boardwalk leading up to the seating area. The wait would be approx. 20-30 minutes. I inquired about indoor seating since there were empty tables for maybe 40 people. No problem, only there was no service at the tables. Informed that we could tell the hostess our order, she would place it & my name would be called to come pick it up. Went that route, and ordered a traditional lobster roll w/ fries & a butter poached lobster roll w/ fries. $48.13. Asked for 2 Bud Lites, was told to go outside to the bar at the far end of the seating area. Of course it was packed, & so another cluster, 2 Bud Lites $11.50 Finally after 1/2 an hour we got our food, wife's lobster roll had a good portion but the lobster was rubbery. Mine had a smaller portion with dry lobster. To much time in the pan w/ butter flavored oil. On the positive side the fries were good. Throw in a $7.50 tip to the hostess for taking our order & you end up with money not being well spent. Can't recommend. read more

Where to begin... Do you believe in freedom? Is quality service and human decency important to you? Do you enjoy comfort while you eat? Well, this place is not for you. Conservatives not welcome. I arrived here with 3 friends, as a party of 4. Even though seating is ALL outside, we were told we need to wear mask while walking, but while seated we can remove them. That's ok, I'll respect your guidlines since they were posted at the podium. Here's wher the issue starts, 2 of us arrived with DD hot coffees that we were finishing, clearly visble. We were asked if they contained alcohol, we replied truthfully "no." I asked if there was seating in the shade, and they said yes. We were seated at a small 2 person picnic table directly in the sun while a larger, table sat empty behind us, as well as a larger table with just 2 people seated at it. I assume this is due to my mask that read "This mask is useless." We sat, waited for the waitress then decided to move to the larger, empty table. When the waitress returned she asked if there was a reason we moved, to which I politely pointed out the size of the table and number of people in the party. She then asked if there was alcohol in the coffee to which I answered no to again. Immediately after this, another waitress asked if we were about done with our beverages because we needed to dispose of them for liability reasons. At this point it was pretty obvious we were being discriminated against for being conservatives. Political views aside, all people should be treated equally. Furthermore, considering this establishment is owned by a conservative, I cannot believe the terrible level of service. I am a firm believer in voting with my wallet. I do not write reviews often, but this one is deserved. I have eaten at every Common Man establishment in NH, multiple times, and have never had bad service or bad food. read more

We ordered immediately and sat to wait for the order. The wait for the food was 40 minutes and my food was not good. I ordered fish & chips. I asked to substitute onion rings and was told it couldn't be done so I got a side of them. The seasoning in the batter was too heavy and overpowered the onion taste. The fish was either frozen or just way over cooked. Totally dry. The manager came by and asked how the food was, but did not wait for a reply and was gone before she got one. Went for lunch on a Sunday. We went at the peak lunch hour, so it was pretty busy, but we were able to get an outside picnic table right away. Service was slow, but the last time we were there it was super quick, so no stars off for that. I get the same thing every time - the chicken caesar salad wrap with fries - and it's always delicious. My table also ordered a cheeseburger, steak bomb (special of the day), and a few mixed drinks, and there were zero complaints. Prices are average. Waitstaff ranges from awesome to just kinda meh. It's accessible by boat which is a plus for us. They close for the season after this upcoming Sunday - wish they stayed open later, as we boat well into October. Grabbed an ice cream on our way back to the boat, and I will say, if that was all we went for, I wouldn't be back. The employees in the ice cream stand are rude and impatient, but maybe we can chalk that up to it being the end of the season. The staff were accommodating to our part of 15, which included three babies. I was supposed to pick up birthday candles for the birthday girl, but of course, I forgot. The hostesses snuck me a few so I didn't look like the out-to-lunch hillbilly that I am. They saved the day for sure. But you want to hear about the food, right? I had a 1 1/2 lb. lobster. Usually, I like my lobsters smaller, but this was delicious and cooked perfectly. The steamers were the best I've had so far this summer. I enjoyed my sides and fixings as well. The only negative I can think of is the parking. It's a little tight on spaces so my advice would be to go into it knowing you may have to park and walk a little ways. read more

This place has fallen FAR from the Common Man quality of years past. The building is dirty (the restroom stinks), the service inside versus outside was confusing, and the waitstaff seemed less than thrilled to be there. My buffalo chicken sandwich was mediocre, and I'd definitely avoid the fish tacos...the fish was cooked poorly and smothered in sauce. I know this is on the more casual side of the C'man chain, but casual shouldn't equate to dirty and unappetizing, especially when lunch for four costs $75!! I got a chicken wrap, and every time I tied to bite into it it just completely fell apart. It's like eating a salad with a wrap on the side! I never even got a bite of the wrap. Had good flavor but I couldn't even pick it up, I had to eat it with a fork and a knife! Would never get it again! PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT EAT HERE! I can not even give it a star. I only can hope by writing this that others will not waste their money on this restaurant. My family and I (5 of us) went to eat here after a day of tubing. This restaurant charges top dollar for basic food that kids could make. Then if your order a burger or a sandwich you do not get fries....you have to pay extra for fries. The prices are through the roof for what they serve. My husband got a roast beef sandwich and it was over taken by BBQ sauce on a bun. No lettuce, tomato or fries....just roast beef and BBQ sauce for $12.99. You do not get plates or real silverware. You are served with paper plates, plastic ware and a paper towel roll (the brown roll you find in restrooms) and paper cups. While seating outside on the deck with plastic table cloths and a bucket that sits in the weather on top of the table with your plastic silverware exposed to the elements and bugs. Ours was on the ground next to the table where your feet reside. I had to ask for a plastic knife to cut my meal because we only had 3 forks for the family. The waitress never came back to ask for refill of drinks. I would assume that it was probably because they do not give free refills at this joint. When I heard that the Common Man owned this restaurant, my initial thought was we are not going. We have been to some of the other restaurants that they own and you always pay top dollar and feel like you got screwed when you walk out. We had breakfast at the Common Man in Concord years ago and left with a $100.00 tab after tip....breakfast! The atmosphere made you feel dirty just sitting there. The light that my husband sat under had dead bugs and live ones flying around. I guess we should have been happy because the first table we got was thrown in a corner with no lighting what so ever and the sound of a motor blowing behind us. The ketchup bottles sit on the tables with no cover on them so that they too are fully exposed to the bugs flying around. My entire family was disgusted with the food and atmosphere. My son said it was probably one of the worst places he had eaten at in a long time. In the end this experience cost us $80.00. Then my husband came home and busted through the door to run to the bathroom. The parking lot was busy. So, the only thing I can believe is that it is in the middle of a tourist area and NO ONE knows how awful it is until you waste your money!! For the money we spent and what we experienced, as well as the food we ate I have never felt so screwed by a business. I will never eat at a Common Man Restaurant again! SAVE YOU MONEY! read more

I have liked this place for a long time. Very, very scenic often with live music and the ability to eat outside on the sand. Not many places will offer you this. Prices are fair and the food is largely pretty good. We like the home made ice cream here as well. Parking can be tough both by boat and car at various times, but you can work around that by going on slower days. Definitely worth the trip. read more

Just a few tips if you're planning on visiting: 1) They don't serve breakfast anymore! We found that out this past weekend and are super disappointed. I think I am writing this review to hopefully convince myself not to go back for food. Drinks yes. Our meal took for ever to get, well over 45 minutes and it as only burgers and hot dogs. The burgers were dry and everyone was not as ordered in fact we had to mix and match around the table. we had to send the clam chowder back as it was cold. Tables larger than ours who arrived well after us and ordered after us received their food before ours. The place seems to be semi-organized chaos. The staff is always pleasant as I believe the have had alot of practice. They did take almost 40 off our bill as I noticed it was done to someone yesterday as well. I went down to the Town Docks to have a good meal and hang out with friends. When we got there we got our seats right away. But it took a little while for our waitress to come and order our drinks so we just ordered our drinks and food. The wait for our food took longer then expected and felt extra long in the hot heat of the day as we ate outside. I had ordered the twin hotdogs which came with fries. The fries were delicious but I would not recommend the hot dogs. Those things were bigger then I anticipated and didn't taste so good. In the end I ended up cutting up my hotdog and finished it but I didn't feel very satisfied with it. I was full and all but it just felt like I ate something that I didn't have too. The bun for the hotdogs were amazing by the way. Overall my experience with Town docks was very mediocre. If you really want something to eat go there but there could be something better down the line. Please take this with a grain of salt. I don't hate the place it has a great location! read more

Went to meet friends at the Town Docks restaurant and couldn't have possibly been more disappointed in the food. For $46 we got one mixed drink and 2 draft beers that were maybe 3/4 full. Also an order of buffalo tenders that consisted of 4 small over done pieces of dried out chicken with a drop of sauce on each and 2 "bowls" of clam chowder that tasted as though it had been watered down to last the night. I think there may have been one piece of clam in there, I'm not really sure. $46??!!!! Unbelievable. And for this we waited over an hour after ordering!! This is one of our favorite places on the lake for lunch in the summer. Perfect spot, friendly staff, great drink selection...We come here for the corn fritters and clam chowder because it was seriously some of the best chowder we have ever had. So disappointed this weekend to get the chowder and find it completely different. They changed their recipe and the chowder is now watery and not nearly as tasty as the thick, creamy chowder they have always had. Unfortunately this place is an a poor example of the Common Man, as I've had great experiences at many of their other locations. We sat at the bar outside. Our bartender was a sloppy looking dude who enjoyed flirting with elderly biker chicks more than he liked serving me drinks and getting tips. Everyone has their style I suppose. Drinks were weak, and I agree with others on the Watermelon drink served literally in a half of a watermelon. I'm close to having type-II diabetes from this thing. Poorly blended as well, continually creating painful blockages in my straw. If you're going here for ice cream, or for a simple beer on the water this place can't fail.
