During my stay at the hotel I dined here on a Sunday evening. Trade Root is a smaller restaurant/bar that is inside the Whitley hotel. When we got here no one greeted us and we walked around with no one helping us. The person I came with had to approach one of the workers to ask for a table. It was annoying because there's no check in area or nothing. Ghetto. Finally they sat us. We weren't super hungry so we got some wings and crawfish corn chowder. The corn chowder was good and I recommend it. The wings were whatever. I got 12 pieces and got to choose two flavors from the 3 options they had. I got their BBQ and buffalo. Only the BBQ was good to me. Service was slow. They didn't really check on us and we had to look for someone to ask for anything. The check also took a long time. We decided to not get drinks there because of slow service. We had to physically get up from our table to ask for our check and wait for it to come. So no I probably won't be back. We had drinks at the bar, dinner, and breakfast here since we were guests in the hotel. The bar on a Friday night was hopping! I was so surprised with the amount of people out and about. The drinks we ordered were 2 of their specialties: Harvest Old Fashioned-Dehydrated blood oragne infused Basil Hayden Bourbon, Himbeeressing syrup, and Bogart bitters. It was Devine! The garden- St. George Botanivore Gin, St. Germain, Fresh Lime, and Agave. This was good, but the cucumber added to the glass threw the flavor a little bit, but it was enjoyable. For dinner we had: Whitley Greens Salad with grilled peaches, seasonal berries (strawberries and blueberries), caramelized pecans, peach and champagne vinaigrette. This salad was so tasty and the perfect size to share. I would love this at lunch with grilled chicken. 12 Signature wings with wet lemon pepper seasoning. These were some of the best wings we have had in a while. The wings are brined for 12 hours prior to cooking and seasoning which gives the chicken a lovely flavor. Pumpkin ravioli. These were the most beautiful looking raviolis that came with spiced (aka spicy!) pecans, fried sage, browned butter, and shaved parmesan. Definitely a small portion , but with the salad was plenty. Dessert- Key Lime Tart was delicious and tarty, However, the Tuxedo cake which is layers of chocolate cake, vanilla bean cheesecake, and chocolate mousse stole the show! It was the best way to end the meal. Breakfast was alright. We decided not to have the buffet b/c it looks like every other buffet with nothing special. We had: chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon. The Lenox avocado toast. I would not come back for breakfast, but I will definitely be back for dinner. read more

The drinks here are solid across the board. I also had the Cajun mussels (not pictured) which I felt needed more acid, as well as bread. Though I'm certain if I had asked the attentive staff would have obliged. The chicken sandwich hit on all notes, crunchy, spicy, acidic (from the pickled onions), salty and sweet. read more

Wonderful Easter brunch. The holiday brunch was in the ballroom and not in the restaurant. Excellent tasting food. Many options. Definitely over priced for the brunch. Everything was excellent, but the pricing (and large party fee) was a bit much. Not sure about the added large party fee because we only had 3 in our party. Valet was included. However, this was NOT communicated. Better communication would have been appreciated. read more

We stayed at The Whitney, and this is the restaurant in the hotel. We only had breakfast there Friday and Saturday morning. Friday was a la cart from the menu. Regular breakfast and waffles. The menu said the waffles had sugar balls inside and they didnt, so my daughter was seriously disappointed. The waiter was fantastic. He waited on us both days. Never let a piece of trash or 1 dirty dish sit on the table. Also never let the coffee cup or orange juice cups go empty. A little pricey, but probably less than some luxury hotel menu prices. Saturday morning was a Buffet breakfast with all the typical offerings of a luxury hotel minus the omelette station, but I have a feeling they probably would've made the eggs to order if you had asked. I think we spend $140 on Friday and $120 on buffet day for the 3 of us ladies. My daughter didn't have the buffet the 2nd day so it was a little less expensive. She had the pancakes. She said Cracker Barrel's pancakes are better. read more

My friend and I really wanted to try out the high tea experience at Trade Root. So the reservation was booked via Open Table for 12pm Sunday. Well upon arrival, we find out they did not have our reservation and the person who creates the high tea experience wasn't even working Sunday. Complete disappoint. But I give them 3 stars as the waitress that helped us did everything she could to make it right. We were given free mimosas (just one each) and complimentary breakfast (which was the last scraps as breakfast was ending. So it was cold and not fresh). But the chef did cook us up two fresh omelets. Yet they didn't ask what we liked in our omelets. So we ended up with an omelet full of mushrooms that we don't like. So we picked those out. One of the managers did stop by to figure out what happened and was told they don't have visibility to see the Open Table reservations. So if you plan to go there, call to make a reservation as there is definitely some disconnect with their reservation process. I'm glad they did what they could to make things right. But I will not return. read more

I have stayed at the Whitey on several different occasions now and I just love the hotel. I can't wait for all the renovations to be done, but as of this weekend they were done with the bar and lobby. VERY nice! The bar has a very classy vibe. Jazz playing in the background, intimate, quiet, but not to quiet. It is a great place to come have a beer and unwind after a long drive or just before grabbing dinner. The complimentary bar snacks are delicious. An assortment of cheese straws, wasabi peas, cashews, peanuts, spicy pretzels. Warning, they are addictive. The bartenders are very polite. On two separate occasions I have ordered a beer and half way through pouring the keg has blown. Our bartender gave us the two half full beers on the house, you can't beat that. They have a pretty large cocktail menu, as well as bottled beer, draft beer, and a large wine list. The prices are a little steep, but about what you would expect from a hotel bar. read more

2 stars for food at bar, Trade Root. Burrata prosciutto was bad, and should NOT HAVE BEEN SERVED. Chicken wings are huge and hot, heavy on breading. So disappointed with my burrata though. And GOOD LUCK finding a server in open seating at bar. This is my second trip here. Same service each time. Sit at bar, Tony is great. The food service leaves a lot to be desired at this hotel. All of the hotel-provided food and in-room dining were unsatisfactory during my stay. I was seated by the hostess in the restaurant and left after 10 minutes because nobody brought me water or a drink menu or said hello to me in that time (not crowded; Wednesday night). Called here for the Christmas brunch as I thought it was the Ritz Carlton still. Menu sounded good but prices had gone up. I still was willing to try for our large family group for Christmas brunch. It took 3 phone calls to set this up. They then sent me an Open Table reservation and it was incorrect for the number of people despite the 3 calls. I had already given them my credit card number as well. I decided to immediately cancel given the issues and unprepared and undertrained nature of the staff. I called and requested the manager in order to cancel my reservation given they had my credit card number. Despite this they still did not cancel my reservation and I continued to get Open Table notices. I just received a phone call about this and had to tell them to cancel again. Finally they did so and Open Table sent me a cancellation. The Open Table they use does not allow online cancellation for some reason. In conclusion the service, knowledge and attention to detail of the staff is poor at best. Please beware when making your reservations. read more

Ate here on a Thursday night, while staying at the Whitley Hotel. Ordered the chef's special, which was lamb chop with mushroom risotto. Wow, how yummy! The risotto was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The lamb chop was a perfect, tender medium-well. The server recommended the Baklava for dessert, and it was so delightful. I was sad that the entire time I was in the restaurant I was the only patron. The Whitley used to be the Ritz, so maybe that keeps people away. But this was a Fantastic meal, for sure! read more

At noon on a Wednesday in Buckhead, we were the only table. That seemed off. It's a brightly lit place that's awkwardly positioned around the corner from the bar so it felt as if we were in a conference room by ourselves. No music, no atmosphere at all. Service was fine, a bit rushed and a little haphazard, but not unpleasant. The appetizers (boiled peanut hummus with fresh and pickled veggies, rolls with bacon jam and honey butter) were well executed and incredibly tasty. The mains were just okay. I had a spinach salad with strawberries and chicken that wasn't that different in taste or quality than what you could get at the Cheesecake Factory across the street. My co-workers got the Burrata salad and Turkey Burger with sweet potato tots. The tots were very good, the burger was okay and the Burrata would have been great had we not found a hair wrapped up in the prosciutto half way through. Yuck. It happens in restaurants, I know, and they comped it for us, which was awesome. But it just capped off a "meh" experience with even more "meh". For the price, the service and food should be pretty stellar, they were not. read more

Chef Tré and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, taking their time to explain various menu items to my group. Wow! What can I say about The Whitley and Trade Root Restaurant? Outstanding that is what. Gourmet food, excellent service, wonderful music and attentive staff. My friend and I decided to check out Wind-Down Wednesday's at The Whitley Hotel's Trade Root restaurant yesterday and from the time we entered the hotel and were greeted by the valet, to the concierge and our wonderful waiter (hi James!!!) we were wowed. This is definitely a hidden gem - but I bet it won't be for long. We set up our reservations on Open Table and were greeted with our choice of tables when we got there. The food, wow, wow amazing! And the staff is so humble about the gourmet food that they serve. We definitely were not expending a 5-star experience and we were blown out of the water by the wonderful treatment! This is definitely a return to spot. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed. read more

My wife planned an overnight birthday getaway for me at The Whitley. Not wanting to go off property for dinner, we decided to dine at Trade Root. We were blown away by the quality and taste of our appetizers and dinner and were even more pleased by the service we received by our server, James. Visited the Hotel and dined at the Trade Root on February 5, 2018. Our two entrees were sea scallops and lamb shank. Both were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. The server was attentive and helpful. Cocktails were also outstanding, especially the Whitley Cup! No reason to eat anywhere else. read more
