I have gone here for lunch twice since this place is literally around the corner from my office and I have to say that it's way too pricy for what you get. I mean, there is nothing extraordinary about their sandwiches or lunch salads for which I would say it's worth it to pay a bit more for lunch. Dirty martini was the dirtiest I've ever had. But the food was mediocre. Had the braised short-ribs, which the bartender raved about. It was dry and inconsistently cooked. The accompanying root vegetables were pretty awful. Not many good things to say about it. Surprise, it is a hotel bar/rest located in the Westin. It feels more like a pub than a rest with a good selection of drafts on tap, several TV's with a variety of sports, jazz in the background (surprisingly), good service and reasonable prices. I give a 3 overall, but I give a 5 to the chicken I had. They called it a beer can chicken. It was a butterflied chicken and I guess they cook it with a beer can in it to keep moist, or so they said. Everything I have had here was delicious. I am partial to the lobster and crab mac and cheese . Their fried pickles are HUGE and really delicious. They have a GREAT cocktail menu. Really inventive and fun. My favorite is the Old Fashioned. The man I believe to be the bar manager has always been really friendly and makes excellent drinks. A surprise for a restaurant located in a hotel. The brunch prices were decent. $9 to &14. I had the muesli with fresh fruit and walnuts. The portion was pretty big. My date and I shared the crab hash which was loaded with crab meat, potatoes and onions. Ask for hot sauce and they bring mini bottles of tabasco- about the size of your pinky finger. Delicious! The food was terrific, it was reasonably priced for a hotel, and the atmosphere (including the waitress) was wonderful and a nice spot for a professional lunch. Food-wise, I ordered the chopped salad, one colleague (and dining companion) ordered the crabcake sandwich, and a third ordered the hamburger with cheddar. We ordered sweet potato fries to start off the meal. The only food complaint I heard was that the 'medium' burger was a bit overdone. Also, this is not too convenient since I don't have a car so that's another reason for the lost star. read more

Let me start by saying that the atmosphere is really cool. It seems like it would be a great place to grab a drink. However, the food is extremely bland. I ordered the crab cake and it was definitely lacking something. The fries that came out with it were cold so we had to send them back. The best wings in Old Town - they're not buffalo or anything like that, but crispy and grilled. The tarragon dipping sauce that they are served with is also deliciously different. Their mac and cheese is also great. The decor is very classy and understated, and holds to the theme very well. I've had their cobb salad a few times for lunch - I always ask them to hold the hard boiled egg, and every time I end up finding at least a few pieces of it floating around in there. But, it's still very good and served with their tarragon dressing (same as the wings). I always find the artichoke dip wayyy too salty. I wish their non-happy hour drink prices were better - we'd be here all the time. Even the happy hour prices aren't anything special. Service is hit or miss - more than once I've had to walk into the restaurant to find someone to seat me! read more

I just had lunch with friends at the Trademark Bar and we all came away disappointed. I ordered a salad. When I looked to see what went into the salad on the menu, there was no listing of onions. If I see that a salad has onions, I ask to have them left out. When I got the salad, there were diced onions and other ingredients not listed on the description on the menu. I have an allergy to raw onions. Another person ordered a burger with bacon and no onions. The person got a burger with onions and without bacon. Another person ordered a salad with grilled chicken. Very nice restaurant. Noise level is not too high, even during happy hours. The staff is very professional and friendly. I've gone for lunch a few times and I recommend trying the salmon. It's great! I am local and go to the the Trademark quite frequently. I have eaten most of the dishes on the menu. I think all in all this is a great improvement to the Westin. The food is good and the staff is friendly. Drinks: excellent beer selection in both bottles and beers on tap. Mixed drink list is good i recommend the trademark old fashioned. Food: Dinner: everything i have tried is good, i really like the Cuban mac n cheese, and the Salmon is just excellent. Breakfast: this is one of two large disappointments with the new bar. the breakfast menu is not as good at the old jamieson menu, i tried the bacon and eggs, it was good but not worth 12$ and nothing on the menu would convince me to come back for breakfast Staff: I think the staff is excellent. always nice in particular bar tender Wanda is just wonderful, bartender Heather is great. My only complaint is about the new manager, he means well and he is nice to the costumers but he is specifically unkind to the staff and i feel like sometimes it is in an attempt to show off in front of friends he sometimes has show up. Took me writing this review to realize the name is after the US office of trademark and patents is around the corner. Well...this place can trademark their own unique and amazing server Kristi who held the place together on a recent Thursday night. The decor is a little throw back Mad Men meets the industrial and glass look. The menu is heavy on great whiskey and craft beers as well as some good wines by the glass and cocktails. The food is yummy. My friend had the candied bacon which was decadent if not a bit undercooked - would have been better more caramelized. We had the bar snack of the pretzel which also was very good and yeasty - and maybe I was starving. For dinner we had some salads - all fresh and I had crab added to one - huge lump that was fantastic. read more

On 13 Nov, 2 co-workers and I went to the Trademark Restaurant-Bar for lunch. Upon being seated, we promptly gave our order to the waitress and waited. After 20 minutes with no food or sight of our waitress, we tracked her down and asked what the delay was....to which she responded that our food would be out "soon." Another 15 minutes passed and still no food. We again hailed our waitress to inquire as to the status of our order, noting how long we had been waiting for food. She altered her previous narrative and now said there was an "order error" in the kitchen and that our food was coming. At this point, we had no other option for lunch as we were running out of time before we had to return to the office. So, we patiently (and foolishly) waited for another 15 minutes......and still no food. We again had to track down our waitress to tell her that we could not wait any longer, and that if the order was ready, we would take it to go. She said she would check, then disappeared......you guessed it...no food and no waitress. In total we waited over an hour. The party at the table next to us was seated AFTER US and received their food in a timely manner. They were watching our comedy of errors while enjoying their lunch and asked why we had not received our food....apparently only our order had an "error." We finally had enough and asked a different server to call the manager to our table to advise her of our situation, but she did not come to our table. We finally decided to leave, but before we left, one member of our party went to speak to the same waiter to again request to talk to the manager, and finally did. Once advised of our situation, the Manager provided faint concern and supposedly went to the kitchen to check on our order....to never return. We left as we had to get back to the office and could not wait any longer. Later that day around 5:30, I returned with a party of 10 for a business dinner. I had made a reservation in person (and confirmed the number on the receptionists screen) for 10 on Nov 10...3 days before the lunch debacle. When we arrived, I was advised by the receptionist that my reservation was for 2 people, not 10!! That was it.....my tolerance for the Westin Trademark Bar incompetence and arrogance had reached its limit. And to make it worse.....the staff, despite looking at 10 people standing in front of them, were actually trying to make the table for 2 into a table for 10, but I told them that after the lunch fiasco earlier that day, I was not going to waste more time or let them embarrass me further in front of my colleagues......so we left and went elsewhere. The Westin staff, in one day, displayed consistent and complete incompetence and lack of customer service/respect. My company recommends/uses the Westin and Trademark Bar to support a number of our clients for business and personnel use, but that will not be the case after this display of total disregard for their guests. I cannot recall ever experiencing such a thorough and repetitive lack of customer service ever...anywhere. Twice in one day! Although this happened in the restaurant, it reflects on the entire management team of the Westin....they are responsible for everything that happens in their establishment. If the restaurant is this poorly managed, so is the hotel. As a result of these events, I will do everything I can to direct both hotel and restaurant/bar business away from the Westin in Alexandria, VA read more

My husband works in the area and we've always noticed this little restaurant attached to the Westin Hotel. Given the reputation that comes with every hotel restaurant, i.e., not very good food, we were a little hesitant, but the decor and the restaurant's outside aesthetics were pleasing enough. We finally came here on a whim when our intended dinner spot was too indebted in traffic. High ceilings. Industrial looking. Very airy. Quiet. We ordered the mini pretzel burger, pot of mussels, seafood pot pie, fish and chips, bread pudding, and Kahlua coffee. Each were greatly flavorful and completely surprising! Everything was incredibly gourmet. Greatly underestimated restaurant. Total hidden gem. We've been back about five times since and each time we are met with an amazingly helpful and sweet staff.
