I don't think the parking lot security is an employee of Trader Joe's, however the security guard followed my boyfriend ALL THE WAY inside to make sure we were parking there and actual Trader Joe's customers lol. It was the same security guard that is usually there. For context, we parked and I walked over to a plaza to drop something off while he went into Trader Joe's for some groceries. From the minute we pulled in, he was staring at us and I felt very uncomfortable. It was very, very weird! He was walking up to peoples cars as they pulled in which i haven't seen before. The interaction left me feeling like I was doing something against the rules when we weren't. It was so bad I told my boyfriend to just leave me behind and go home once he finished shopping and was waiting for me. Today's visit was pretty disappointing. I went in to buy a case (12) of Trader Joe's Sparkling Water. I really wish it was sold just as regular bottled water in cases. Did some last minute shopping today and before checking out, I was looking for some salted caramel chocolates that I like to get. I couldn't find them, but one of the employees, Julio, went out of his way to ask if I needed help looking for something. I mentioned to him what I was looking for and right away he went to check the system if they had any in stock. Great store to get a lot of healthy options for the week or even that day. This is located right next door to Hallmark so parking does get packed. They offer already made meals like salads, wraps, sandwiches, and more. They also have a large selection of nuts and fruits. They have a lot of different healthy options that the normal grocery store wouldn't have. They have fresh riced cauliflower which makes it so easy for the meal preps. They also sell it frozen. There are so many desserts to choose, more than you would expect. Lots of beer and wine and freshly made bread. They also have so many beautiful flowers here. With a much lower price! I've never had a bad experience here at this Trader Joe's location. Honestly, I've always been refreshed by the pleasant people who work at this place. Whether it comes from the smile of the cashiers to the open attitude of the person cooking samples of the product of the day in the corner of the store, each person has given me an experience I can dare say reminds me of Disney's Guest Service. Even the security guard at the door smiles when you walk by. The interior is well designed with an open concept used with ceilings not too tall and not too short, so you don't feel dwarfed or cramped in the space. Aisles are easy to go through and when it comes to the selection of items available there is just enough variety without the mass amounts causing anxiety from ambivalence and indecision. Every Trader Joe's is difficult to walk through with only grabbing one or two items. Every where you turn you see something shiny and it catches your eye and stomach. I am grateful this specific market is next to my work and will be coming back again and again. read more

Sharing a thought. Cashier M, whom I have known thru the years is always courteous, friendly and attentive, asked me how have I been. In my emotional response, I told her that I had recently lost my husband... Then I saw M whispered quietly to an associate nearby, when the associate returned, I saw a beautiful- fresh- cut spring flower bouquet of roses and daisies handed to her. I don't know why it took me soo long to come in here and do a litte grocery shopping. Ive been to trader joes before, normally just to buy a bottle of wine or liquor for a gift. Yesterday was my first time in here actually buying some groceries. I guess because the store is pretty small, compared to a big name grocery store I figured I couldn't get it all done here. I was able to get most of my stuff here. Picked up some frozen veggies, Almond butter and hummus. All at great prices. I skipped the meat this time around, seemed a little pricy but it was good quality. The store was supper clean and the guy at the register as I was leaving told me to have a great day and a better tomorrow. Umm Thank you!! Never been told that before. I walked out with a smile. Spoiled produce - first time and last time shopping at this Whittier location. Three items out of my cart were bad when I got home. Asparagus has a sour and mushy smell, onion was black inside (outside was looking perfectly fine), and the worst is hair found inside the chicken wrap. Never had an issue at other TJ locations before. Still grossed out from the quality of the produce at this store. read more

I do love this place because the crew is so damn friendly. I especially love this place because Dave dresses up as a turkey around Thanksgiving. You have no idea how much he will brighten even the gloomiest of days when you are stressed out and at the market for the millionth time during Thanksgiving. He makes the trip to the market enjoyable! The selection here is great, environment awesome, and service is impeccable. The only downside is the parking. The layout is not good and getting in and out is a hassle. It's not really their fault, so don't let this be a deterrent. I'm definitely a fan. read more

Love TJ! I always go in to buy something specific and end up walking out of there with always a bunch of new things to try. That's why I love it. Today I came in to get stuff to make pizzas. They have really good pizza sauce and raw pizza dough. I also picked up all the toppings there for the pizzas. I picked up a couple frozen items as well. The orange chicken, hatch chili mac and cheese and the chicken gyoza. I also got the chocolate covered banana and strawberry bites to try out for dessert. This location was nice and clean. They had plenty of cashiers so I did not really have to wait in much of a line. The cashiers are always friendly. Will be back for sure. read more

A neat 'Trader's' in the area. As like the other stores, you walk in and you feel like you're at a different location. Great to know there's a location in Whittier. Don't know exactly how to word it, but quality control might have a hand in this" batch". Not good at all. If you're my friend on yelp or a fan (stalker...don't you hate how yelp informs you that you have a fan, yet you don't know who it is!? It kinda creeps me out) you know that I LOVE TRADER JOE'S...I go to a TJ's at least three times a week...I love getting my groceries from TJ's for many reasons: 1. The service is AMAZING 2. The prices are great 3. The produce is ALWAYS fresh (if you don't like what you see then ask if they have more in the back...they will be happy to look for you and bring you out whatever you need) 4. They have GREAT snacks that won't make you feel like a fatty 5. I can always try new things that make me happy :D (like the spinach kale dip with greek yogurt or the chive cilantro dip with yogurt yes I said cilantro and yes I LOVE THIS DIP even though I have a vendetta against that nasty herb lol) The reason why I'm knocking down a star for this specific location is that it's more crowded here than other locations and I always leave without finding at least 1 or 2 items on my list. It's always sold out or not sold at that specific store...one which means A LOT to me is my Franziskaner beer. I would recommend coming early in the morning or right after lunch because the parking lot is a bit small and like I said earlier there aren't enough cashier lanes open for the amount of people. read more

This is the first Trader Joe's I've ever been to as a kid when my dad took me, and it's where I love to go now (even though there's another one a fraction of a mile closer to me haha). I'm a long time yelp user, first time reviewer because I truly had to come on here and shout out Terry, who was working the door when I went in for groceries last month! He sanitized my hands before I went in (which I just want to add that TJ's was the first chain of grocery stores that I experienced implementing this and other COVID recommendations), and I bought all my stuff and walked out, Terry waving goodbye. As is customary due to coronavirus, we take our groceries out in our shopping basket/cart and load them onto our own cars now. With my butterfingers bringing a few glass bottles into the car, I accidentally dropped one and it was a goner. It was an Organic Sparkling Apple Cider Drinking Vinegar that I was buying for someone who recently learned that he has hypertension, and my googling had told me that apple cider vinegar can help lower cholesterol. I head back towards the store to grab another one real quick, and Terry cheerily asks, "what'd you forget?" I explain my butterfingers and he tells me to skip the cashier and bring it right to him. I was like "omg no I'll pay for it!" but he kindly insisted--all the while greeting and interacting with other customers. He jotted down a number from the bottle, probably for inventory purposes, and sent me on my way after some light small talk about what the drink tasted like. Needless to say, I was very touched by this gesture. I wasn't having a hard day or anything, but people like Terry can be the difference between someone having a good day or a bad one. It makes me happy to think of him spreading positivity to those around him. I'm just really grateful for his consideration and glad TJ's is a leader in essential errand-safety during a pandemic. In general, my experiences here have been good ones from a friendly employee saying hello to everyone to an efficient parking lot cart collector to a cashier recommending me a beer he was passionate about lol! read more

Okay Trader Joes is five stars but this one is three because it ishard to get into the lot and then most of the spaces are usually taken. On Monday when I visited there were at least 6 spaces taken up by three suv's and in a parking lot that is already too crowded thats ridiculous- go to sams club where you belong suv. 1.99 bags of Kale washed cut and ready to eat- the best deal. cashier whose breath has that cold vodka feel and his general demeanor screamed out "go try our imported vodka that you've never heard of" not that my lack of knowledge means anything. O-0 prices are a bit on the high end here, like their small portion of pomegranate seeds=$3.99each. their hansen's 6 pack of soda are $2.50+ great convenient parking lot... spacious and near the Hallmark! just no place to park the shopping carts! OMG - where do I even begin with this Trader Joe's? Let me begin by saying that I spent my formative years (ages 12-24) in Wayne County, NY. It's a little place you've never heard of unless you've already been there. The best part of Wayne County is that it is in close proximity to Wegmans - the single greatest grocery store on this planet. If you have been to a Wegmans, you know what I am talking about. NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, has ever come close to Wegmans. The size of them (seriously, some have two floors), the selection, everything is out of this world. But, moving to CA meant no more Wegmans and I have never found something that has come close. Until now. Trader Joe's is amazing. Sure, it is small. But the selection is fantastic. We are vegetarian now (made the change about three weeks ago) so Trader Joe's is now the only grocery store I shop at. Produce: Their produce selection isn't the best, but it has all the essentials plus you always see something that you haven't seen before. Meats: Back when we were eating meat, we would occasionally buy things at TJ's. The selection is good, I've had no complaints. Rest of the store: Everything is great, I can't complain. Their hummus (OH MY GOD SO GOOD) selection is outstanding. If you like hummus (and I have an addiction to it), make sure you check out their roasted garlic hummus - it is the best I have ever had. They also have a lot of dips and sauces in that section. If you like Tahini, try their green tahini sauce. That is particularly delicious. Now, what sets them apart from other stores and puts TJ's in the same league as Wegmans, is their amazing selection of store brand products. Sure, they have a few name brands that you may catch in another store, but just like Wegmans was, TJ's store brand on EVERYTHING is amazing. Their vegetarian and vegan offerings are outstanding. There is so much of a selection to choose from. Some of their vegan/vegetarian offerings lack on flavor a bit, but I'm OK with that. I'd rather season things to my own liking anyhow. Two things I have learned since shopping here regularly: 1) Nothing has preservatives, so things you may normally leave on the shelf (bread, tortillas, etc.....) will mold a LOT quicker than normal. So, I keep that stuff in the fridge now. But that's a good thing. The less chemicals in our food, the better. 2) This place is always packed. If you have social anxiety and freak out in crowds like I do, go first thing in the morning. I usually get there around 7:45 am and wait in the car until the doors open at 8. It's still going to be crowded, even at opening, but it won't be as bad as it would be if you went during the afternoon/evening. Anyway, definitely check TJ's out. The prices are beyond reasonable. Everything is delicious. The workers are all super nice and friendly. It is definitely a fun experience going there, you never know what new things you are going to find.. read more

I love this trader joes, it's neatly organized and all the staff is very friendly. There is a great amount of parking, it's easy access from the road. They always have a beautiful and large display of flowers at a fair price right when you walk in. The fruit selection is well maintained and like all trader joes, the checkout area is perfectly decorated with street signs around whittier. Before I moved to Whittier I had a TJ's out of my way in Brea and I liked it ok. There are staples for me to get at TJ's so I would go out of my way which is definitely saying a lot about TJ's as a whole BUT now I have the luxury of having this TJ's right on Whittier BLVD with easy access and on my way home from work. I just LOVE this store and most of all the people that work here. You tend to run into the same people over and over living in this town so it is super cool when you see the TJ workers out and about and you can really tell that they take pride in their work and job. I am always getting great suggestions from them when I purchase items for example I had this one cashier tell me to check out this other beer based on the beer I was buying at the time. In no way was it an up sale, he basically said, "hey you have good taste in brew and since you know what you are buying... check this one out" It was totally appreciated and he was right, I loved what he suggested. Shopping for yourself here is perfect, I get tons of food that I love for a good amount and it lasts me for awhile. Try the TJ's jasmine green tea, there is not a day that I don't drink a cup and it is super cheap and my new discover La Boca wine from argentina that they just started carrying... 3.99 so just a cut above Charles Shaw. mmmmmm I had a HUGE glass last night when I got home. read more
