Waited 40 minutes for an online order to be ready, 5 minutes longer than it said it would take for my food to be completed. Got there and they said it would be another 20 minutes. Waited another 20 minutes and then they said it would take 5 more minutes. Even more annoying, STOP having your system/employees ask for a signature and tip at pickup. I'd already provided a tip online and completed my order - a signature is not required at this point. My wife went in to pick up our order and despite the less than great experience she still tipped - so now we tipped twice on an already overpriced order that took way too long. read more

This location, sadly like the others, is going downhill fast. I know it'll never be the same as the original location, that's impossible with the growth they've seen. But better is doable. We had three rolls and while they showed up fast (not really a great sign imo for a sushi joint) they lacked any sort of presentation that trappers has shown in the past. More importantly, they didn't taste fresh or good. The smoked salmon was sooo dry. The sauces clearly canned. The rice had crunchy parts (sushi rice....should never be crunchy) and overall just lacked the flavors of the trappers of the past. Next time we'll head to Gari if sushi across Hwy 16 for some legit sushi. Sadly, I think trappers is a thing of the past anymore. read more

The sushi here was actually pretty tasty! I ordered the sounder which was exactly what I was looking for. Not fried and just enough to leave me feeling satisfied. I'm surprised it was spicy because usually when I order 'spicy' sushi, it's not spicy at all haha. I ordered the side salad along with a sake bomb :) Our waitress and the host were both so great! Super friendly and down to earth. They even brought out complimentary mochi plates for our friend's birthday which was super sweet! Sounds like a 5 star for sure, however I had to give 4 due to the restaurant itself and parking. From the outside it looks like a cool place but the inside just reminded me of a cafeteria. An odd thing to say I know, but I didn't feel like I was at a restaurant. Maybe it was the overkill of fluorescent lighting or the way the tables were set up. I know they're not going for a dimmed steakhouse feel - but it was just really really bright lol. I have been disappointed by this place three times now, I think its time to give up on them. They forgot part of my take out order, when I called them they offered no apology for the mistake, I was told by a person on the phone that sounded like they really didn't want to spend any time helping me in the first place, that they would remake the item. I told them I did not want to go back out just to get what they had forgotten to include. No other option was given until I suggested that they just refund my card for the missing item. Again, no sign's whatsoever of concern or actually wanting to help with the problem, but I was told that they would inform their manager (we'll see if I get the refund or not) The second disappointment was the food it's self. It honestly looked like it was thrown into the boxes, a very poor presentation to say the least. The worse part was it wasn't that great at all. The rolls that were supposed to be deep fried tasted soggy, and the lobster roll we bought for like 22.00+ was really thrown together, did not look appetizing in the box, and the lack of flavor lived up to the presentation. We spent over 80.00 on Sushi at this place, and what we got was very poor service, and verry poorly made and poorly displayed food. read more

I'm from Hawaii, so I have some high standards for sushi and I was not disappointed on this visit. I decided to try this location for dinner since my cousin and his wife LOVE this place. I did the all you can which was $35 (for all you can eat!?! What?!?) I loved the pricing. And our server was very friendly and our sushi chef was awesome, what made it even better was that he's from the same island so my cousin and I got to talk story and make jokes about our high schools "rivalry" lol. Now to the food. I love sushi. I love to eat. My favorite thing about their all you can eat is that they give you 1 full plate at a time, that's 8 pieces a plate or more, usually each plate is roughly $15+. That being said all you can eat is the beast pricing option if you're extra hungry and want to try some really good sushi. We stayed for about 2 hours eating and talking story with our chef. I got to try different styles of rolls and mixtures and I couldn't choose a favorite because they were all so delicious. 10/10 recommend read more

First time at Trapper's and first time at this one! A few notes: 1. Service / table management - We arrived around 640 pm on a Friday night. Understandable that this is a busier time to come out to eat. However, we walked in and there was only one other couple waiting, 4 open seats at the sushi bar and were quoted a 45 minute wait. The hostess / to go girl stated it was to allow the servers to catch up on tables. Few issues with this. One, for a Friday night, having only two servers on call is somewhat unacceptable for a restaurant. Second, the bus boy was either incompetent, new, or a combination of both. The poor hostess / to go girl was doing it all -- and bussing tables while having to babysit the bus boy. During service our waiter was so busy between tables she only stopped by once to refill water and check on us. Bus boy never cleared anything from the sushi bar until people left, leading to the bar being cluttered during meal. Overall: understaffed and thus led to high wait time. 2. Atmosphere - Finally got seated about 30-40 minutes later. Sat next to a couple also at the sushi bar -- this man was very drunk and very obnoxious. Rude to his friend / girlfriend whoever she was to him, and made it difficult on the wait staff every time they came by. Husband and I were counting the minutes til they left. Sushi prep cooks were great and very friendly / got our rolls working asap. Didn't have to wait more than 5-10 minutes max between rolls which was perfect. 3. Food - sushi was great. Lots of tempura rolls and rolls in sauces, but we like it. The "spicy" rolls weren't overly spicy that we had. Lots of options on the dinner menu. I hate even giving this place less than 5 stars because the staff doesn't deserve that, but management of this place does -- hire more staff or put more on during busy service times. read more

Trapper's Sushi. Well as a Japanese friend told us it is "white man's sushi" which when you really look at it it's hard to deny that. It's not the most authentic sushi restaurant in town. Nor is it really the freshest. Despite that I have been here several times as it was close to where we lived and was but a lazy jaunt on foot to get to. Just a perk for living close to 6th Ave. I think when it boils down to it it depends what kind of sushi you get off the menu rather than thinking anything will be good. The reason why I say this is I have had meals here where it isn't all that bad but the last time I was here the sushi was terribly salty. Maybe it was the sushi rolls I picked which were spicy rolls but the rolls should be spicy and not salty. So not the best rendition of a Spicy Tuna Roll. When I walked out of here it felt like I had enough salt to last me a life time. Maybe they added the salt to their rolls since the previous times I was here but it definitely wasn't an improvement and all of this was before the soy sauce which made my sushi a saltier dog all the more. read more

TRASH. All around trash. My husband came early to get us a seat, and they said they wouldn't seat him at the bar until his full party arrived. Our party was two people and no one was at the bar so that made no sense, but it was what it was. Our sushi chef was good. But honestly he was really the only one working (place full of children, acting like children and taking no effort or initiative in their work). We had to track down our waitress for beverage refills bc she wasn't attentive. And my husband couldn't even get his last roll bc it was a freakin playground in the kitchen and staff were KICKIN in and NOT working smh. Before we left, there was a lady seated at the bar next two us and was waiting for her other party member to attend. We then asked why she could be seated while waiting for her party to show up but my husband had to wait for me to arrive... This child of a hostess have a BS response and we said we're never coming back and bounced. We even tipped (which wasn't reflective out the garbage experience we had) bc we're classy like that, unlike this place and the people that work there. TRASH. DO NOT GO. This was my boyfriends and I first time at trappers. We read online that we have an all you can eat so that's why went. First of the place was not clean. There was soy sauce everywhere. All over the menu and tables. The biggest complaint I have is the waiter. She was blonde with glasses. She took a long time for check on us it took about 20 minutes for me to order a drink. We waited so long for her to come to order more appetizers that the sushi chef ended up having to bring us more appetizers. She only checked on us once while we were there for 40 minutes. I feel this ruined my all you can eat experience because I didn't get to try some appetizers because of the long wait. The sushi chefs were great and more attentive. That waiter needs to be more consistent. Ruined my first trappers experience. If I do decide to try again I'll be going to a different location. read more
