Came to Arizona for the long holiday weekend and wanted to find AYCE sushi close to where we were staying. Thanks to TikTok we came across Trapper's and knew we had to go. When we got there we were asked if we wanted to sit at the bar or at a table. We chose a table but weren't aware you can't do AYCE at a table until we were already seated and ready to order. I've never been to a sushi restaurant with AYCE that's limited to the bar so I was a little disappointed. Luckily, the Buddhalicious and especially the Skywalker made up for it. So food was for sure amazing and honestly worthy of 5. It was some of the best sushi we have had in a long while. I would venture to say some of the tastiest this side of the ocean. However, service was so slow. My food finally came out after everyone else was completely done. It was staggered. Then the Miso came out last. So it was very odd.I know they were busy so I don't take it personally, but we got just one drink. The mochi flight was more of a duo. Just two flavors when the picture shows four different types. That was a major let down because we would have just ordered the one flavor. Hopefully as they get more staff, the service will be faster. read more

To sum it up, the all you can eat is by far the best value, the sushi bar all you can eat is 5 stars. The sushi chefs make great rolls and definitely worth the cost. If you get regular seats get ready for overpriced rolls, the food there isn't sushi there is nothing to brag about. If they didn't have the all you can eat I probably wouldn't come here. Had a great experience here while celebrating a friend's birthday! There is the option of doing all-you-can-eat at the sushi bar or sitting at a booth for casual eating. Every roll of sushi I tried was delicious; my absolute fave was the Sounder Roll. They have such a variety to choose from and I would love to come back and select more options. Our waiter Dallas was super quick in attending to us and very kind. He even offered the birthday girl a free dessert :) Next time we'll definitely return to choose the all-you-can-eat option, which can be done for lunch or dinner. Had a cool name and decent reviews so I wanted to check it out. I was seated at a table where the bench was dirty and asked if I could move, but the hostess said they aren't allowed to do that. The store was 75% empty so I wasn't sure what the problem was. It was kind of odd, but after waiting a couple minutes we were moved. I didn't get to try the AYCE I can't speak on that. The rolls that I ordered were average, the scallops had an extremely rubbery texture. What I did love about this place was the crispy calamari! Thick pieces to calamari freshly fried with a great aioli sauce. I'm interested to come and try the AYCE though, hopefully my experience is a little better the next time around. read more

The food was delicious but what stood out the most to me was the service. Before we even sat down we knew all the sushi chefs' names and were greeted right away. Our server was awesome- shout out to Whitney! Our 4yo is a typical curious, loud and at times antsy toddler. The way ALL the staff connected with him and included him in our dining experience was so much more appreciated than I'm sure they are aware. They excel in creativity when it comes to their specialty rolls. We eat a lot of sushi and there were many combinations I had never tried. The menu at Trapper's Sushi contains a large selection of appetizers, sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi,and combination plates. There is an all-you-can-eat sushi special for lunch or dinner for a mere $21.00 and the service is as great as the food. On this visit we decided to share edamame appetizers, tempura vegetables,the Seahawk roll, and Mountain roll. It was all fabulous! Everything was very fresh and plentiful. The servers were friendly and accomdating. Will definitely be back to try my other favorites. read more

But I had gotten two vegetarian rolls so thought I would be safe and came off a 12+ hour shift so was famished. When I got home, the "Yuppi" roll was missing the avocado so really was just lettuce and rice. The asparagus roll was ok tasting but both rolls were so poorly rolled they were totally falling apart. Overall a disappointing $26. But mostly I just feel sorry for the poor souls who will be hugging the porcelain thrown tonight after eating the fish that caused the smell in the restaurant. Little to no people in the store, waitress with the glasses was too busy talking to some girls rather than helping us with our 35 min wait time for 3 sushi rolls. Gave us the wrong roll! They had to remake our rolls twice because they kept putting masago on our rolls. Simple task was extremely difficult for them. I usually get full with one roll and can barley finish it. With this i finished a "full" roll and was still super hungry. It would be understandable if there were many people eating here but there were only a few people on the sushi bar , and we were the only ones at a booth. Never got checked up on, waste of time. Throughly disappointed in the customer service provided by the "chef" (Christian) wearing the red shirt. I've been a loyal customer to Trappers for over a decade. My family patiently waited for the all you can eat bar. By the time we were seated at 640pm. The "chef" (Christian) told the staff to clean up the sushi case leaving nobody to tend to our orders being at the end of the bar. The sushi bar is all you can eat and waiting over 15 minutes between rolls when the rest of the restaurant is fairly empty is the worst experience we have had. The interaction at the sushi bar has always been positive and energetic. Today, we felt like we were a burden. The photo paints a clear picture of the service the "chef" (Christian) gave us, an empty case and nobody to interact with. On a good note when we have gotten our few rolls, they were as expected. The consistency and quality is the same in Avondale as it is in Bonney Lake. The servers were very kind and helpful. read more

We tried this new (to us) place in Avondale. We were brought in originally because they offer all you can eat sushi. Turns out they have all you can eat for both lunch and dinner. Dinner all you can eat comes with drinks and salads, I believe. We tried the rainbow roll, new york roll, bonnie lake roll, the bhudda-licious roll, and the phoenix roll. There wasn't a single roll that wasn't delicious. My stand outs though were definitely the bhudda-licious and bonnie lake. Both are fried. Matt was our sushi chef and he was really cool!
