This is one of the best Italian Restaurant's in Westchester County. The service is amazing and you will never see an empty water glass here. This place was a converted old time diner which they converted and what they did to it gives it a lot of atmosphere . Appetizers , salads, pasta, main courses and desert have all been soooo good. My favorite is the linguine de mare . You won't believe this dish. Have searched for years trying to find one as good as one of my restaurants in the Hampton's and here it is but better because here they throw in lobster along with mussels, clams,calamari and shrimp. Sauce is also delicious . I can't get past ordering this dish but friends along with me have had other dishes and also can't believe how good they are. One of the cutest places we have ever dined in , very romantic and the perfect setting for our anniversary dinner. We arrived early but our "booth" was ready and our waiter, Danny was the best and knew his stuff!! From the outside, the restaurant looks like a converted diner car, but the second you walk in, you can see the dark upholstery, well stocked bar and buzz around the smiling faces. The staff is made up of committed and collegial local folks that take their jobs very seriously. It isn't stuffy and they do everything that they could to make your visit comfortable and friendly. The food was also an unexpectedly pleasant surprise. While the menu wasn't long and disconnected like you get in some Italian restaurants, the selection was just right with old favorites cooked to perfection like chicken milanese, covered in arugala and chopped tomatos to a delicious pasta with salmon, asparagus in a pink sauce. Not to mention the just right cooked risotto! The evening was capped off by two digestif offered by the owner, Dean, who was ominpresent and caring, but very professional and not at all pompous as you get in many better restaurants. This theme permeated the entire evening and it is rare that I can say the atmosphere, food, service, pricing (reasonable considering the portions and quality-fresh, of the food at around $15-20 a main course) and overall experience was excellent. We've brought our kids back and have visited again a number of times. I would very strongly suggest that anyone enjoy the same experience as we have and no doubt will continue to do. read more

Very, very nice Italian restaurant. My family and I were there just last night on the recommendations of several of my co-workers. We didn't have a reservation but they were still able to accommodate us without a wait. First off, the service was really remarkable. The staff were attentive without hovering or being intrusive. The food was really top notch. My husband had the prosciutto to start and one of the specials, the risotto quattro formaggi with spicy sausage, as an entree. He raved about the two different but superb wines that had been recommended by our servers. I had a tasty homemade beef barley soup and a calamari entree while our 3yr old daughter had a fresh pasta dish with marinara. They were able to do 1/2 servings for children and one of the servers brought her over a seafood bib to wear which she loved. All in all, a very enjoyable evening. We loved the authentic food, the attentive service and Vivolo's decor and ambiance. I'll definitely be coming back again soon. read more

Came in on a Saturday night and place was nearly deserted. Hostess gives me seat right next to door and I diplomatically request to be seated a couple of seats back. Hostess states we are fully booked. Amazing, during the one hour that I was there not one dinning party sat in the booths I requested. Food? Must be paying friends to write reviews- clearly was meh- could have gotten better at my local pizza parlor. Ordered 20 pasta dish came with 4 ever so tiny shrimp. We just returned from a really lovely late lunch at Trattoria Vivolo. It was my first time there and I will definitely return! Everything about this restaurant was perfect- the food, the service, the location and the ambiance. It's just very good Italian food without the extra cost or pretentiousness of other restaurants down the road in White Plains. I had a very nice chicken parmigiana with delicious vegetables. My mom had the risotto special which she said was very good. Other good meals were the lasagna and penne alla vodka. We stayed in the restaurant for quite a long time as this was a meeting point for me and my family and the service staff couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. Our waitress was a really wonderful person who just made us feel like we were at home! If I lived close by, I think this would become a regular restaurant for me, but I will definitely be back when I have another family get together. If you want a real Italian restaurant experience you have to go to Vivolo. The service was excellent and it's obviously done by a trained chef. I would usually order take out but ate for the first time a few weeks ago and was blown away. Their seafood tower and lobster ravioli, and seafood risotto are out of this world. Their red wine selection is very reasonably priced as well. If you're into Italian seafood dishes look no further. I can see why they've been in business for a long time. read more

I've been there twice with a friend, and both times received excellent service, and excellent entrees. Their pasta tastes fresh, sauces aren't overly rich, and certainly not bland, and the serving size is large enough to share, or take home later for later if you don't finish. We liked the two appetizers the meatballs and the balsamic mushrooms, two was plenty for four. we each tried a different entree: pasta rustica; pork chop with peppers potatoes, and sausage; branzino sea bass with capers: and chicken Milanese. My pasta dish had very thick though delicious sauce-I think I can add extra pasta to my leftovers; the chicken plate had too much arugula versus chicken for $24. It looks like an old down-and-dirty diner until you enter. The interior is much more upscale with a full bar, booths in the same area (booth seating is a little tight), and a larger "greenhouse" addition -- for my taste, not as much fun as the bar/booth section, which is great for easy conversation. As soon as you're seated (reservation suggested) you're served a complimentary bruschetta topped with fresh chopped tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, seasonings -- and sometimes this may be all the appetizer you need. But then comes fresh warm and crusty bread and butter to accompany a cocktail (there's a good selection of wine, or bring your own and pay a $20 corkage fee). Among the entrees, the salmon steak has always been perfectly cooked with an interesting sauce including artichokes. Prices are reasonable considering the size of the servings. I usually don't leave without enough leftovers for at least one more dinner at home. Or, often, I split salads and entrees with dinner partners. If they're not overly busy, the efficient and friendly waiters will bring you a complimentary after-dinner liqueur. In my experience this is pretty much guaranteed if you eat early, when it's quieter -- although if you're like me, you may by then have had enough sweet stuff from a variety of good desserts, again easily shared. read more

From other reviews I have read I expected a lot from this place. Boy, did this please deliver. I was first of all impressed with the look of the place. It occupies what looks to be an old diner. But that's where everything changes. The long black bar with high black leather stools is lit with a line of beautiful chandeliers giving the space a very warm light. Black accents lent a simple elegance to the room. There's an art deco vibe that somehow also comes across as cozy. A great place to start an evening out. The food was excellent. We had wonderful Caesar salad and Delicious champagne to start. The four entrées that we chose were great choices. Rigatoni with shrimp and spinach, arctic char with roasted tomatoes and scallions and baby clams, chicken scallopini with peppers and artichokes, Grilled octopus with a balsamic reduction sauce and polenta. All were declared to be delicious. Cappuccino rounded out the meal. The service was excellent and the experience was a good value. I am looking forward to returning. I suggest you do the same. Fantastic place! The owner, Dean, and his staff are personable and down to earth. I feel like I am going to visit family when I eat there. It is one of the most comfortable environments.
