I came in to get my no chip fixed because a week later it was almost all off and my manicures usually last 3 weeks. They fixed with same color for 10 dollars.... 2 peeled completely off 14 hours later.... I came in and The owner insisted on giving me the same polish that was obviously faulty TWICE OR I could pay 20 dollars for a new color/brand. Accusing me of picking it off purposefully as if I have the time and desire to do such a thing. Done with this place.. Pearls is the best. read more

I had the most amazing chair massage by Susan. I felt so relaxed in just 15 short minutes. It was a perfect way to let my nails dry and continue my spa day. As for the nails, everything from the experience, to the selections, to the price is great. They have a large selection of colors and brands and there is no up charge for Vinylux as opposed to a regular manicure. I felt the manicure itself could have been a little better and lasted a little longer but I think it definitely depends who does it. My friend is a big fan of Vicki and/or Stella. Friendly salon, calm and great services. I usually go for the cheap mani/pedi combo for $30 bucks but have to drive fairly far north of the city for it. This was a bit more pricey but it was worth it for me. The massages on the legs, arms and hands and shoulders were an added bonus. i didn't have to wait even though I didn't have a reservation. I was there early, before 10. It gets busy later in the morning with moms dropping off their kids at the Old Town school across the street who try to fit in a mani while they wait. read more

Not sure Susan had any real training. Kept trying to ignore mistakes and I had to repeatedly ask her to fix basic things like not straight edges and getting the polish on my skin not the nail. The end result is my cuticles look no different, and despite the fact it's no-chip, the colour isn't even. After a day of "no-chip" there are small chips appearing on the end of my nails. Wouldn't go back - go to spa spazzio round the corner for technicians with some actual training. read more

Reasonable prices, better than reasonable service. Book an appointment and go during off-hours for the best experience, including mini-massages while your nails dry. The only sub-par experience I've had here was on a Friday afternoon when the place was slammed. The service suffered a little bit because of the rush, but otherwise I've had wonderful service here. DO NOT go here! I've been here before and thought the place was clean and the woman who did my nails was very nice. I took my mom in two days ago and our nails are already chipping. Mine was worse than hers, and although I know manicures chip and wear down (I get them often), this should not happen after two days. So, we went back in and they agreed they should repaint them reluctantly. However, the woman I assume must be the manager (since everyone kept asking her questions) stood over me and argued about every step of the way. When I told her the previous lady did not want to apply the base coat that came with the new nail polish, she said she should and ensured I picked the same polish. I didn't mind, since I liked the polish two days ago and still like it now obviously. When I asked to apply nail glue (like all manicurists do to my one nail that's cracked), the lady threw a fit and threatened to charge me. I have no problem paying but thought they messed it up the first time, they should fix it. She grabbed my hand and repeatedly told me my nail had glue (it didn't- the light line was the crack on the base). She kept arguing with me and I had enough. I will not be back. How cheap can you be? I already spent $45 each for mani and pedi, not including tip. read more

I received a standard pedicure and my first ever gel manicure. Each foot was scrubbed for 7 seconds. Calf was rubbed with a scrub for 4 seconds. And lotion was applied for 2 seconds. The manicure was equally underwhelming with zero salt/sugar scrub and barely any lotion. No shoulder massage. $70 after tip and I left feeling guilty about the money I wasted. I had a terrible experience at Tres Bien Nails on Armitage. I've lived in the area for about 4 years and have never tried it, but despite the mediocre reviews, I gave it a shot. I was in dire need of getting my no-chap mani off and when I sat down in the chair the nail tech looked absolutely shocked to see that I had a no chip on (apparently they are the only salon in the city of Chicago that doesn't offer a no-chip mani). She went on to tell me how horrible they were for my nails and that the acetone they use to remove it (which they also use for several other purposes) caused cancer. She then proceeded to tell me it would be $10 to soak my nails in acetone to get the no-chip off. She clearly had no clue what she was doing because I left the salon (after getting a regular mani) with the no-chip still on my nails. If you are looking for a nail salon that knows what they are doing, then stay clear of Tres Bien! They were also pretty pricey for the bad service you receive. Extremely disappointed, should have left as soon as I sat down. read more

Love this nail salon. They are always friendly and accommodating. I have loved my no-chips and pedicures. I had my wedding party come here to have mani/pedis. There was no problem setting up the appointment and they took care of all of my bridesmaids. They are always busy and you can tell there are plenty of repeat customers. I live right next door and came in for a no-chip manicure over 2 weeks ago. My nails are still perfect and without chips! The nail technician-- I can remember her face but not her name-- really took her time with my nails and did a great job. Most of the employees are Korean (so am I) and I thought they were very hospitable! It seemed quieter and cleaner than typical salons. This is definitely my go-to place. read more

I am not sure why others have had bad experiences! I had a great one. The mani/pedi lasted way longer than most run of the mill places in Chicago. I also nicked a nail on the way to the dryer and another of the staff completely redid it for me since the gal who did my nails was already with a new customer. She totally took off the paint on that nail and re-did it no questions asked. The $35 Wednesdays are were it is at- if you call in advance you can get an appointmentt! I love this place! I have tried many nail places in the city and this is by far my favorite. I always get in right away even without a reservation and they have always taken their time and done an excellent job. What I love most about this place is the waxing service. This is the only place in the city that I will get my eyebrows and lip waxed. They take their time, truly pay attention and do an excellent job. Usually I have experienced people rushing through or the wax being too hot that it rips off my skin- not this place though. I want to give them a great review because their customer service is wonderful but the bottomline is, my no chip manicure does not last when I come here. I went on a Thursday night, my nails chipped by Sunday. I went back the following Friday (hoping the first time was just a fluke) and by Sunday, three nails had chipped. I called and they were very nice/offered to fix the chipped nails. I went in and had the 3 nails chipped at no charge (but of course tipped the nail tech) and by Wednesday, three more nails had chipped. Of the two no chips I have gotten at Tres Bien, neither lasted even close to a week. I am no stranger to manicures/no chips and when I have gone to other salons, my no chip has always looked near perfect well into the 2 week mark and even my regular manicures last longer than 3 days. Won't be going back to Tres Bien and frankly wish I had just requested a refund after the second no-chip. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! The most unprofessional and unsanitary experience I've ever had! My friend and I never get to pamper ourselves because we are in the spa industry and are usually working on pampering others, so it was a treat to finally make time to get our nails done. We asked for mani/pedis and they took us in right away. Besides being rough with the nail tools and continuing after we told them it was uncomfortable, We felt like we were in a car wash. A pedicure took them 20 minutes and I stand on my feet 10 hours a day! It was done poorly and was the most un-relaxing experience I've ever had. We canceled our manicures because the pedicure was so bad, and after sitting at the manicure table we realized the towels had nail gunk all over them. If you want to get a nail fungus, GO HERE! Even after we both expressed our distaste in the experience, we paid full price and were ignored while our nails dried and through the time we walked out the door I have never felt so ripped off. Please save your time and $$ and go somewhere else. I would hate for anyone else to leave feeling the way we did when it should be a positive and relaxing experience!!! read more
