It's easy to give a company a good review right after they finish a job. I think you learn a lot more about a company when you call them 12 years later with a problem. Triad Basement Waterproofing originally did work at our Gaithersburg home about 12 years ago. Recently, we discovered that the drain from that original system had clogged and our sump pump had also stopped working. I reached out to Triad and was honestly impressed with how quickly they responded. Within about 12 hours I had heard back from them, and Justin was at our house the following day. He replaced the bad sump pump and made sure everything was working properly. He then returned on Monday to replace the clogged drain. Justin was fantastic. What really stood out was his attention to detail. He was extremely thorough, took pride in what he was doing, and cleaned everything up so well that the area was spotless when he left. But the biggest reason I'm writing this review is that Triad stood behind basement waterproofing work they had done more than a decade ago. Triad Basement Waterproofing recently installed a Basement Relief System to address water pressure and flooding beneath my basement floor and behind walls during heavy rains. Mike DeGirolamo - the owner - during his assessment provided step-by-step explanation of what needed to be done to address this issue. He was very thorough and clear in his explanations. He did not try to 'upsell' or include items that were not necessary. Prior to work starting a timeline was provided. Timeline detailed team arriving over the course of 3 days and what to expect during this time. The Triad team - Michael, Justin and Roberto - arrived as scheduled on their assigned days. Before starting work for that day they again went over every detail of what they would be doing. Master plumber Justin Dorrier was amazing in his handling of the plumbing side of this process. His attention to detail and explanations clearly showed his professionalism and knowledge as a master plumber. I had a very positive experience with this company. I was having a bizarre problem with water coming out the baseboard of the garage that had the first plumber I called stumped. He suggested I call a waterproofing company, and Triad actually does above-ground work, which many of these companies do not. The owner came out the next day and was very professional. He decided to send out his own plumber to find out exactly what the problem was. The plumber then spent hours methodically pinning down the issue, which he then fixed (turns out a random pipe that was in a place a pipe should not be was leaking). It turned out I didn't need a pump or drain at all, likely saving me a lot of money. Very impressed with their work and definitely recommend. read more

Triad is awesome! Mike, Tracey, and Justin were amazing to work with, and Justin did a fantastic job in addressing our foundation cracks and water leaks. Not only did he address the initial crack and water leak beautifully, but he also identified two other foundation cracks with active water leaks that needed to be addressed and we otherwise would have missed. He was very courteous and provided great customer service including explaining and showcasing in-depth the remediation strategy, taking the time to answer my questions, and leaving the place cleaner than he found it. We love Justin and are so impressed with the work he did on our home! The underground drainage pipe from a gutter was clogged, causing water to back up and flow into the basement window well, causing a steady flood into our basement every time we got significant rain. We actually didn't even get estimates from anyone else after he came to look at out problem - the price seemed totally reasonable, Justin was super nice and took the time to fully explain what was going on, and they were able to schedule relatively quickly during August, when lots of people were needing their services. Turned out the pipe from the window well into the sump pump system was also clogged; Triad replaced this pipe, as well as two underground drainage pipes from gutters, and the exit pipe from the sump pump system. After seeing how much work he did (by himself in the middle of August!) I almost think they undercharged us. He got it fixed for us right before Tropical Storm Ida swept through the area, and our basement remained dry (and has ever since). The work also looks great. My newly acquired 10 year old house had a leaky basement. I hired Triad to install a sump pump which required jack hammering a hole in the basement floor, creating a drainage channel, installing a sump basin, and installing an electric pump. They completed the work 1.5 days, were prompt, always courteous, and left my house perfectly clean and restored to its previous condition. Prior to finding Triad I had met with two other vendors who clearly didn't know what they were doing. In one case the guy didn't show-up twice for the appointment to give me an estimate. This company came recommended by two friends who had a "good experience,"and the other who said "they were beyond awesome." It took 3 months just to get an estimate (like a good carpenter/tattoo artist, I take this as a very good thing). Unlike the other two estimates, they were not interested in just throwing a sump pump into the ground (literally what the other companies wanted to do). They explained the importance for a proper drainage system (removal of dirt, old concrete pad, new gravel, drain, tub, sump pump and properly angled concrete pad) needed to be done to support a sump pump. We called Triad and a few other companies to give us estimates on diagnosing and fixing a worsening basement leak. Even though we called during the height of the bad August 2017 rains we had in Maryland, Mike, Triad's estimator (and I believe co-owner), was able to come out to our place within 3 days, fitting flexibly to my work schedule. Even better, Mike gave a quick overview of the likely problems, a clear rundown of the possible solutions and ranges of costs, and rundown of the steps Triad would take to confirm the diagnosis and proceed with the solution. Unlike other companies' estimators, he didn't rush immediately to an expensive basement wide sump pump system, noting the likelihood a simpler crack seal would probably solve the problem. Triad's contractor was back within 3 days to confirm the problem and place the seal. In the latest rain we've had, our basement is bone dry. Mike is the only one who suggested waterproofing from the outside (we live in a townhouse). Bobalu arrived and was super friendly and he worked the entire day in blazing heat alone! Day 2 came and this time he had another person helping him. They both were so friendly, explained everything to us and even dealt with an asshole neighbor of ours. This is by far the worst company I ever dealt with. The workers were late, extremely rude, and messy. The work was of terribly poor quality. For example, they found and used our extension cord, without asking any questions. It is now a part of the wall. Then, they charged us a $50 fee for moving furniture! To finish up, they told the maintenance company that the water source was probably the company's workers tracking in snow. The workers did track in snow. However, this can't possibly the reason why we called a waterproofing company in the first place, can it, genius? read more

I typically don't write reviews but I had such a positive experiance with this company and Pete that I had to "vent" about it. It was nice to see that rather then just showing up early he took the time to call and make sure it would be ok if he arrived 15mins or so before schedule. The thing that impressed me the most was his honosty, I had another waterproofing company come over the prior day and they tried to pitch me a almost 6000 sump pump system, but Pete flatly told me you don't need any work done but if you still want stuff done I can do it for you but I can't tell you that you need anything. The sales rep was very good, finding out what I needed and quoting on that, not whole house ventilation upgrades like some other companies Their workmen were technically expert, courteous, and careful with my property. They did a great job. They also showed a serious commitment to customer service, honesty and complete trustworthiness. They saved my house from collapsing, my water problems were so serious. In the middle of the job, we discovered that a third basement wall had problems that could not be seen while our built in shelving was still in place. They had me over a barrel and could have really stuck me with some huge charge. Instead they gave me a fair price for the additional work. I just had Triad complete a job putting in a sump pump and drain tile along one wall of my cellar. I believe the owner was the one who came out to see what I needed to have done and wrote the initial estimate. I was happy to see that his price was in line with what I thought a "good deal" would be for the project. (I'd had some similar work done before in a previous house, and I got a number of quotes back then before going with a small company who had the best price. Triad's price looked really comparable to that offer.) By contrast? I got one other quote from a competitor for this project who was around 2x Triad's price. They were able to get started in about 3-4 weeks after giving me the quote, and an electrician showed up earlier to get an outlet installed for the sump pump to plug in to. The rest of the work was completed in less than a day, and appeared to be of good quality. The only issue I had was that we initially discussed a few details of how I wanted the installation to be done which he neglected to write down on the work order/invoice. So when the crew came to do the job, they weren't aware that we had discussed those items. I wound up having to call Triad back and have them re-schedule to come back out and make those corrections. To their credit though, they did all of that work as originally promised. (I wanted the discharge line to be buried under my sidewalk so it could come out in a "hidden" place behind a row of bushes. Initially, they failed to do that. And there was a "speed drain" we discussed installing at the base of my cellar steps, so water collecting there would go straight into the sump pump.) Ultimately though? They gave me exactly what I asked for, and the system has been keeping all the water from today's rain out of the cellar! (Just as a general comment.... I noticed another reviewer complained about how messy the work was. My experience with these sump pump and interior drain installs is, they're ALWAYS messy. You have to budget to have someone come out after it's finished and put back things like drywall and the bottom part of the wood framing behind it, if you had a finished basement before they started. I had to replace cedar boards in a cedar closet too, in my case, because we decided to put the sump pump in the closet floor to hide it. They couldn't connect it up without ripping a couple of holes in the closet itself. It's just the nature of this type of project.) read more

Like one of the other reviewers, I called and asked to have someone come out for an estiamte. They told me when they could make it and I confirmed the date and time with them. I burned a day's worth of vacation to accomodate the appointment and they never showed up, nor did they ever call to explain why ro to let me know they were going to flake. Also frustrating is that when they call you back, if you return their call to the number shown on caller ID, it is an answering service whose only job it is to take your name and number. They can't tell you who at the company called or why thery were calling. Triad installed an interior french drain in our townhouse basement and I am extremely pleased with the work that they did. Their pricing was very reasonable and the crew was very efficient. They explained everything they were doing and after it was done walked me through everything the did. The crew did a great job to keep the dust down and cleaned everything up when they left, even wiping down the hardwood floors that they had protected with a tarp but a little dirt got on the floor. Just wanted to give a shout out to Triad, they have been very responsive as we continue to try and work through some problems. Always return calls promptly, Pete gave a thorough explanation of the work that he felt we needed to have done, received the contract in a timely fashion. Unfortunately we have continued to have some problems even after the work is done but it's been things that aren't necessarily within the confines of their work, yet they have twice (including yesterday during the pouring rain in an effort to actually see the water seeping in!, driving down to Alexandria the same day I called) come down to see what's going on and try to get to the bottom of it. Have assured me that they will do whatever it takes to get it fixed, have never tried to hit me up for any more $$. Very nice guys, clean up the work site.
