I suppose this is a family owned business and I like supporting local businesses so I was happy to find this place. The place looks a little run down, but customer service makes up for it. My husband and I love this hardware store. Every person who works there is so nice and so helpful. Neither of us are 'handy' people but they have helped us many times over the years figure out just what we need. I guess being a hardware store in an affluent beach community kills the concept of customer service. Browsing ACE.com I identified pieces I needed to repair my widget, called ahead, explained in very specific terms what I needed. I was told to come by and order before 3PM and they'd have it by Thursday. Upon arrival, the first person I spoke to stated, we don't carry that, and he clearly didn't want to help me because he immediately went to find somebody different "the order guy" he said. The second person "the order guy" told me they can only order the entire widget not individual pieces. I tried to explain what I'd seen on ACE.com and about my earlier conversation, but he is note "the listening guy" for sure. At this point I asked if there was some else here to whom I may have spoken, and the guy says "that's a pretty broad question". I tried again to explain to him that I looked at the individual pieces on ACE.com, not the entire unit and called to order them etc. Enter person three... evidently this is the guy that I had spoken to, but he says "oh, I thought you wanted to order the whole thing" I'm speechless... "the order guy" chimes back in and says "you must've been looking at widget.com, we can't order the individual pieces". I told him to go to ACE.com and look it up for himself, but in the meantime I'm going to a different store, thank you very much. The people staffing this place are ridiculous. read more

I have lived in the Southbay for 8 years and after Kurt's hardware closed, Triangle has been my go to. I prefer to support a local hardware store rather than box stores whenever possible. Always had good experiences with the helpful and knowledgeable staff. There has always been one employee who seems to be in a fight with a customer most of the times I have been there. Today, that customer was me. He's the scrawny one with the stringy hair and the filthy mask. He was so unhelpful and downright rude and dismissive I am certain I will never set foot in there again. South Bay Hardware on Artesia has a better selection of small screws and hardware, and their staff is attentive and eager to help. Maybe the guy at Triangle is the owner and the joke is on me. If not, ownership needs to know this rude employee is costing them local customers. read more

This place is a gem! I live around the corner and made the mistake of going to Lowe's for lots of things I could have gotten at Triangle. They have a small selection but it's everything you need and perfectly tailored to the neighborhood. I went to 4 places looking for mailboxes and . . . They had the one I chose right there the whole time. When you walk in the door there is literally a guy waiting to "receive" you and help. I almost get sad that I'm in and out of there so fast. As usual, the store staff was helpful when I went in with my sander and no idea of what model it was or what type of sandpaper I needed. The woman helped me figure it out and I was out of the store within minutes of arrival. Note staff wore masks and whole store smelled santitized & looked dust free in every aisle I walked on and on every shelf. Impressive for a hardware store! BTW, if you need a handyman, they will give you the name of several local ones that know how to do whatever project you need help with and they've always been excellent. read more

He came up and said "youd look really good on the back of my motorcycle..." I walked away, my transaction with the lady at the front was fine. I was in Triangle Hardware yesterday looking for a part to repair rollers on a sliding glass door . The gentleman who helped me was taking me to the isle where the rollers were kept . The isle was narrow and another customer was blocking the isle with an electric bike he brought into the store , which was inconsiderate to begin with . When the employee ask the guy if he could move the bike to a wider open area so people could get through , the biker ( Erik V who wrote up a negative review ) starting making foul mouth remarks about the employee and shot him the finger . I made the comment to the guy that his actions were very inappropriate and another employee got involved as well . The first employee then ask the biker to leave the store and he did but all the time yelling foul mouth remarks and giving us all the finger several times . The employees were never rude to the guy who in my opinion was rude , obnoxious, condescending and a total jerk . The employee then continued to help me and apologized to me for the event , which they had nothing to apologize for . I have used this store for years & they have always been helpful and courteous to me as a customer . Any comment from Erik V should be disregarded as having been written by a very rude and self centered person who was acting like a spoiled 2 year old and doesn't deserve the attention . I was in the middle of a conversation with an employee, trying to solve a challenge, when she interrupted and sent him to the cash register leaving me stranded. Always helpful and friendly - my first (and usually only) stop when working on home projects. I've seen some of the one-star reviews here and just can't relate to them. Any time I have been in over the past decade, no matter who is behind the counter, each staff member (male/female, younger, older) has been helpful and friendly. While I do not typically enjoy taking care of my "to do" list, my visits to triangle at least leave me a little more cheerful. read more

This is a wonderful neighborhood hardware store with friendly knowledgeable staff. I had 4 large window screens that were in need of new frames & screens. I dropped them off a Thursday afternoon and was surprised to hear that they would be ready for Friday morning. Now that is really quick turn-around time. And the price was so reasonable, that I am now taking my sliding screen doors in for new screens. read more

I honestly think this may be my first Yelp review ever. I've been making it a rule to buy my hardware goods at this place for the last year, since moving to Hermosa. For the sole reason of supporting "local small businesses"....well consider that no longer happening. Probably the most rude act I've ever experienced at any store, small or otherwise. I called and asked if they sold a product, it was 6 min before closing. They said they did, I asked if they could stay open for a minute longer as I lived nearby and was on my way. His response...we close at 5:30. Ok...I'll be right there I say. He hangs up. I arrive, no joke, at 5:29, I run up to the store and it's locked. I look at my phone and it says 5:29...I see an SUV drive off from the back of the store. What a D....lost not just one but every potential customer I come into contact with. read more

I work with individuals with disabilities and one of the walkers had a bolt snap in two. We needed an immediate fix and so ran to this hardware store which was closest to our location. The worker was extremely helpful in finding the correct piece and was able to accommodate the situation. While the second piece was not available as it was specific to a wheel chair, he was able to suggest another business that might be of help. Overall, great experience. read more

I can't get over the bad reviews here! I have not been to Triangle Hardware in many years and today I needed something. Since it is close to my house I figured might as well come here. As soon as I came in, I asked an older gentleman who was behind the desk for something and he pointed me in the right direction. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Everyone was super friendly. We have been in HB since 1981 and found this store early on. They are so helpful, take you to the exact thing you are looking for. So convenient, they seem to have everything you need for almost any part of your house. They are so much closer that the big stores and the customer service is worth the difference, you save more in time and gas than what little bit more things cost. And rather than spending 20 minutes trying to find something or someone to help you find it, you can be home by then. read more

Every time I walk in, there is someone greeting me and asking what I need! Usually Chuck who is Awesome. Being a girl(myself) or just someone unfamiliar with project needs they have, sometimes its intimidating entering a hardware store and I just want to pretend I know what I need and venture around. They know this and find their way to you again within minutes to offer assistance. I first frequented this place as a single woman in my late 20's and now I in my 40's, married and live within blocks. Everyone is helpful when I go in still, and if something is a little out of their realm, they go to a colleague and figure it out. Chuck has always been a face I am happy to see. He genuinely cares what project you are working on and wants to help you find the right tools to make that happen. Even mixing paint colors! Sure that is not ideal, but I came in wanting a green color I found on one of the color charts, and Chuck said "You got it! Be right back" . (Which by the way they have awesome paints and color charts too in the back!!) Triangle Hardware , including owner Sonny, Chuck, Brian, Michael (and more I don't know names) is exactly what a small community needs! All the employees here are so helpful. Rob Mederios, seems he's always at the store, morning or nightshift, seems like he's been in the hardware business his whole life. Jim Pudwea, you will hear the saying "Oh come off it!!", that's Jim Gary Brooks, works morning shift mostly because he knows the nightshift does all the stocking and inventory. Tony Pimentel, he works like he will someday be a union worker. Robert Mayo, pipe cutting expert. This guy also knows how to mix paint like a pro. Regrettably, even in these difficult circumstances, when people should be supportive of each other, some people choose to stay rude, dismissive, and overwhelmingly arrogant. I can safely say that my experience at the Triangle Hardware today was the worst experience I've ever had as a customer. While I would express my gratitude to the store employees, who are always very friendly and helpful, the owner of the store Sunny is someone who you want to get away from and never see again. He had been rude every time I came. It felt like he was grudgingly doing me a favor when I was buying something. Today, I called to inquire about the thinset and he hung up on me without letting me finish. Finally, I felt that attitude was so unnecessary that I let him know today when I was buying some items. He immediately reacted with such anger that left me aghast. I've never had anyone being so disrespectful. He yelled, left my merchandise and charged by me making me feel unsafe. He kept yelling while he he was running away, saying that he doesn't need my business, that I should take my money and leave, and that I always return something. Does it sound like a good owner of the store? I have done nothing wrong! I do not always return items. Returns are allowed and actually encouraged in the store. I returned the concrete that was given to my friend after I asked him to get me the thinset. Obviously , I cannot use the concrete to install tile so I returned it because it was a mistake. The owner chastised me for it and said that I can't come to the store anymore. It felt like a verbal assault by a person who should be in control and who should treat his customers with respect and dignity. Sunny was completely out of control and out of any decent boundaries. I'm planning to file a complaint with the city of Hermosa Beach. It's not only about me. No one should experience such verbal attacks. We are all tired to leave our bad moods at home prior to coming to work. I am a registered nurse. Just imagine if every nurse brought their bad mood to their patients. I told the woman what I needed and she quickly found it for me. She added some appropriate humor as well. When I asked her for some help with some mirror and glass cutting, she was open and willing to talk with me and give me options both within the store and suggestions from other businesses outside. EXCELLENT SERVICE! GREAT NEIGHBORHOOD STORE! First off, I am not a well skilled handyman. Although, I do consider myself fairly handy around the house and do not shy away from a challenge. For a woman, many of my friends and even landlords have been surprised and impressed at what I've done on my own. This is especially satisfying since my husband is practically useless when anything needs to be fixed. Here's my story...I bought a used portable dishwasher that I found on craigslist in Glendale. The guy who I bought it from said that I would be able to easily hook it to my sink and have it work. Unfortunately, he lied and I ended up making 5 trips to Triangle Hardware. The first two was to find pieces to fit a nozzle that was supposed to just easily hook into my existing faucet. I think that the man that helped me was named Chuck. I'm so thankful for him. He was able to walk me through and disassemble the entire dishwasher, change and re-hose the input/output hoses, route it from an extra sink in my laundry room, and out flow into the washing machine drain pipe. This ended up taking me a full afternoon, but was completely worth it. The shop is so close to my house that I was able to make the necessary trips when I needed extra supplies. Most of the employees that I have dealt with are helpful, patient, and friendly. The only negative thing I could say about the shop, is that sometimes the choices can be limited. Also, the woman that works there laughed at me instead of trying to help...which is discouraging as a woman trying to fix things on her own. So, I just try and steer clear of her. read more

Received a few tools for Christmas that I didn't need. Tried to return them with the receipt and owner accused me of using them and would not accept the return. I'm pretty confident my dad didn't use tools prior to giving them to me as Christmas presents!:). Overall, the rudeness of the owner is my biggest issue; the value was super low. I try to support local but cannot support a business owner with such terrible customer service. Bring cash. I purchased a part that was well over their card minimum, but was hassled because I didn't have cash. I get that there are fees associated with credit card transactions, but I don't think it's fair to make customers feel bad because they don't carry cash, or just increase your card minimum. I love this place. I am not handy so I rely on others to help me. Triangle is a place where I can walk in with a problem and walk out with a solution. Everything I've gotten through them has worked great. I always find the people friendly and helpful, but given the reviews below, it's fair to say that they can be a crusty bunch. I've always come in wanting to learn something, they've always gone out of their way to help me out and so I'm always satisfied. The crustiness is only skin deep -- and it may be the case that people who might come in with a know-it-all attitude or a condescending manner might not get the first rate service I'm used to. I needed a plastic scraper with a large radius on the corners. A helpful attendant showed me the options but they were all sharp cornered. They offered to grind the corners for me at no extra charge.
