Came here expecting a local coffee house - the name is Tribes Coffehouse after all - but it turned out to be more of a restaurant. That is fine just not what I was expecting. I only had coffee so I can only comment on it. It was only fair. Nothing special. Service was somewhat slow considering we were the only ones in there. Can't imagine what a rush would be like here. First time I had ever ventured into this place- and I will NEVER go back. The attendant at register was wonderful...in fact very friendly and attentive, so the review has nothing to do with him. This is one of those places where the owner makes a very grave mistake which affects his long-term business because he thinks people are stupid. I was hungry for a bagel. Yes, a bagel. Most coffee shops have them. Just ordered it to go. Attendant said " $3.79 please" (this was a COLD bagel that had been pulled out of a refrigerator- just an ordinary BAGEL put into a bag) I asked if it were toasted and buttered would it cost the same? "Ah, NO SIR. Then it would be $4.50. (4.86 w/tax) - I gave you a dollar off" Oh..... that was nice. Now peeps- I have been to ALOT of cities and eaten ALOT of different types of food. And I have never seen a 4 dollar and 50 cent toasted and buttered bagel- nor one thrown in a bag with nothing on it for $3.79 ! Check their menu online (it says 3.95, but it is not up to date) or grab a to go menu as I did today (which clearly lists the bagel for $4.50) To show you how ridiculous this pricing is- I looked up the Starbucks on Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California on 9-6-12. The cost for a bagel....$1.25. With Cream Cheese....$1.75 I then contacted 2 high end delis in NEW YORK CITY............ $1.15 and $1.49 respectively for a bagel. What is the point in all this blabber over a bagel? I DO NOT LIKE GETTING RIPPED OFF- and made held hostage when I am hungry. I should have refused the bagel and said I changed my mind. That is rude however, so I did not do that. Instead I have chosen to write this review and will never, ever set foot in this place again- and will advise all my friends that they are much better off going to the other coffee shops in town/delis- because they won't get ripped off there. In fact I can get a bagel with fresh LOX on it and cream cheese for less than this clown place charges for a bagel with butter. Lastly- when I see this type of thing, I question every other single thing that must be going on in an operation if I can't get at least a somewhat fair deal on the basics. People need to make money, but this is legalized robbery! If my girlfriend and I took a couple here, it would be nearly 30 dollars for 4 bagels and 4 (small) cups of coffee !! Awesome find! Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Coffee and espresso drinks were great. Menu was fresh. Loved the quiche, salad and southwest breakfast. Lots of variety. They have a pastry chef that makes fresh pastries daily. Coffee cake and cookies were great! read more

Tables are big enough to get some work done on, art is okay, and it's open later than most coffee shops in santa fe on a Sunday. Those are the only good things I have to say about this place. Coffee is great. Counter personnel has always been abysmal; not friendly, slow moving, and cannot multitask/prioritize. Food is good, but overpriced. REAL maple syrup was seriously watered down. Fresh fruit with Belgium waffle was as New Mexicans say, "pinche." Apples, bananas and oranges...? We were thinking some kind of berries, especially for $8.95. Finally only ONE high chair in the entire place, which was taken. So no place for our two kids. Next time we will pay a lil extra dough for a great meal/atmosphere/comfort/service at Plaza Cafe Southside! read more

I have found this a very pleasant and accommodating place to have lunch or a mocha with cookies or cake any time of day. There is a lovely view of the mountains from the terrace, and the food is very good, especially for those who like to eat gluten and dairy free. Where else can you get a nice pastrami sandwich with gluten free bread and avocado substituted for cheese if you want? Zaina is very kind and accommodating. Do check it out! read more

This is my favorite place to eat breakfast or lunch in Santa Fe. Everything I have had is really good. The smothered breakfast burrito is the best, and special requests are fine and dandy! The hummus plate is delicious anytime. The wraps are yummy - especially the avocado-pesto-feta wrap - so rich. The migas are really tasty. The fritata is superb, but a lot, so be hungry. The coffee is really good. My partner swears by the tostada. Nice atmosphere too, but it can get crowded in the afternoons and on weekend mornings. Free wifi. Outdoor seating. My only complaint is that their prices are kind of high. $3.75 for toast with butter and jelly? $6.95 for a bagel with avocado, tomato and cream cheese? $8.95 for a caesar salad without chicken? I go anyway because 1) It's Santa Fe, and for some reason this town thinks it is perfectly fine to overcharge for everything - guess we do too, cuz we pay it!! and 2) the food really is that good. I have no idea what David is talking about...The coffee shop is cute and quaint despite the strip mall setting. You can't smoke anywhere near a restaurant in Santa Fe, and they don't burn incense, so perhaps David's lack of caffeine affected his memory. Wow, I just read many reviews while I'm sitting her enjoying my last bit of tea after nearly finishing a delicious frittata. We come here regularly and have never been mistreated or gotten a poor quality drink or food. I am stunned. Part of what I love about this place is the laid back ambience. The rest is delicious breakfast, a good go-to if you don't want green or red for breakfast. I will even drink a latte from here (stealing some of my husband's). He's never had a weak cup of coffee and they have a great selection of teas without being overwhelming. Everything that comes out of the kitchen looks delicious. So you naysayers, stay away. This is one of those places I don't usually review because it will be ruined by too many customers. When it's high coffee time, i.e. mid afternoon, plan on being in line. This place has a lot of bad reviews. Check out the Google Plus reviews... the majority report very unwelcoming service. I agree, many of the staff people here make me feel uncomfortable. While waiting for my coffee the other day, the lady who rang me up (the owner?) just hung out at the register staring at me; I almost wanted to ask if there was a problem. They also really don't make good espresso. Drinks that involve milk and sugar are easy, but if you are going to run a cafe, you should train your staff on how simple espresso drinks are made. Pulling a good shot isn't that difficult. I don't want a weak, watery Americano with no crema; that makes me feel ripped off. Also, everything is overpriced. It's true, this isn't Bev Hills, but if you are going to charge Beverly Hills prices, at least provide the quality that goes with them. I hope more people start avoiding this place, and that it sparks them to make some changes. read more

HORRIBLE! The price of the food is WAAAAAAY too expensive for what it's worth. It's not even organic, but they've certainly got organic prices!! The service is also terrible. I keep trying Tribes and I've never gotten anything good to eat there. I went in last week because I was waiting for a movie and tried again. I ate one bite (after paying over $12) and left. It was inedible. I tried the falafal (big mistake- I know). The rock hard patties were black on the outside and green on the inside, neither of which is what falafal it supposed to look like. I tasted it and it had no seasoning, tasteless except for the burnt taste. The lattee was just so so. All of the tables were dirty, I wiped down one to sit at and it was so hot in there I could bearly stand it. Never again! read more

This is a great place to have mint tea, a hot chi latte, and some curry chicken salad. The atmosphere is very hip and artsy. It makes a good place to study, meet friends or have a casual meal. Plus it's so close to the movie theater it's great for a before or after film snack. read more

I have not had the bad experiences some reviewers seem to have had. The food and drinks have always been tasty, if marked up to Santa Fe prices. This is one of the few coffee shops with wi-fi that is open past 5 every day (including holidays) in town, so that's worth a star right there. Lots of seating, good variety of food, and I am especially a fan of the generous breakfast burrito. read more

I came into this coffee shop for a 4th time over a two year period and this made my final decision for me. I make my own tea blends and generally ask or hot water of which I am willing to pay for and tip at least a dollar a cup. On this trip the service was horrendous, seating was far and few between, I sat at a large table by myself due to this, the owner had the audacity to come over to me and point to a sign that said "no laptop use at these tables" now I see a purpose for this sign, but given the circumstances you would think that the owner would not confront a guest who paid their bill already and not to mention there were 3 other tables open in the group area of which I was sitting. How do you expect myself or others to return after this foul treatment. If I had wanted horrible service like this I would have served myself at home.
