Pick up great Italian meats and cheeses and desserts here. Decent selection, good service, good prices. Sandwiches to go are in generous portions and inexpensive. They sell frozen entrees here also as well as heat-n-eat garlic bread...never bought those but have seen lots of people put them in their basket, must be good. If you feel nostalgic for old-fashioned delis and sandwich places, Trinacria will put you over the moon. If you want Whole Foods-y ambiance, city chic, and young peppy deli servers, this is not your place. Minus one star for no place to sit (usually we pick up sandwiches and sit in St. Mary's Park). And the store can get crowded at lunch hour (you literally must squeeze past people to get by in the aisles on a busy day). read more

I adore Trinacria! First, go first thing in the morning so you can get a fresh loaf hot out of the oven. They have olive and cheese bread piping from the oven. The selection of premade lasagnas are amazing. Don't bother with the wine. It's usually on special and have never found it to be great. The cookies are delish and available by the pound. It's on a block that made me think "no wayyy can the famous Trinacria be here!!" I bought fresh foccacia, a couple bottles of wine, and a delicious cannoli. It was hectic and one of those places I would never go back to if not for its authenticity. The entire time we were there (a Saturday) I felt like I was IN THE WAY... people are constantly dancing around each other to get through or look at things. I liked it, but it's not some place I would want to go to often just because of the crowd. I felt slightly overwhelmed the entire time I was there. (Claustrophobes this is not the place for you.) Seriously, if you live in Baltimore and you've never been here then what is wrong with you (I mean that in the nicest way possible) They have a huge range of fresh cheese, an olive bar, homemade sauses, fresh baked bread (that is usually still warm), not to mention canolis, hot or cold sandwiches and so much more. WoW! Wow! WOW! True authentic Italian Deli! I walked out with a mini box full of stuff and the most wonderful of all - it was oh so affordable. I found this place through my fellow Yelpers when searching for the best sandwich place in Baltimore. And I was not let down! Thank you ... I order two sandwiches - and yes had them both over the course of days though - since they are healthy portions. I got the roast beef and the turkey panini. Ah MAY Zing! the horseradish mayo - YUMMM. I asked for it on the side since I didn't know if I was going to be a fan and then though that worked out for me since I got to spread it on every bite as I ate through it. The turkey sandwich, while different, since I'm used to saltier cheeses was full of flavor. After the first bite I thought it needed something - the mozz was ab it bland but after the second bite I knew they got it just right. I also walked out with cookies - all good - favorite the almond tart cookies and I even came home with frozen chicken pesto raviolis - which were amazing! Real pieces of chicken just the right amount of pesto. And none of the filling came out when cooking. Wish I would have bought more flavors - since there were almost 8 - 10 kinds. A cannoli? A $1.75 cappuccino? Yes, please! I simply cannot rave enough about this place. It has everything! They also make their own prepared filled pastas in a kaleidoscope of fillings and variations, frozen baked pastas for your convenience at home, prepared pizza dough, and on and on! This place is awesome! Went there yesterday and got the Italian Cold Cut sub my fiance got the Roast Beef, Provolone, Horseradish, Mayo, Lettuce, Tomatoes sandwich. So good! The deli/store is in a sketchy neighborhood and they close at 4:30pm. But the food was incredible. The store is a little cramped but the service was very good. Definitely go there! read more

Trinacria is a hidden gem. The paninis are the best I've ever had, and they have many tasty things (like goat cheese stuffed sweet pickled peppers, and pastries) besides that. They also have a good selection of cheap wine, fresh bread, pasta dishes made on site and frozen, etc. I cannot recommend Trinacria enough, except that it's already crowded/busy during lunchtime. They have bulk pasta and olive oil for great prices, too, and lots of treats imported from Italy. One downside: the parking...it's okay if you are willing to park in an alley. We stopped in for lunch just after 12 and we were helped quickly. Staff was courteous and helpful, I asked for a suggestion and she suggested the Mufaletta or coldcut. Trinacria is one of Baltimore's best kept secrets... a dainty little nearly hidden storefront in a less-than-safe neighborhood. If you didn't know about this gen, you would drive by it 1,000 times and never even think about stopping. From the fresh baked breads to the home-made authentically prepared Italian dishes and sandwiches, it's the bomb! Also, DO NOT FORGET to check out the wines! From $4 bottles of wine that are actually quit good to fine vintage Barolo... you never know what you will find on the wine rack. I have purchased $20 restaurant reserve wines here that would cost you $85 in a restaurant. Parking is a bit of a hassle but it's worth it. This place is incredible! I have yet to try the deli food (yes, I know, shame on me) but I have a good reason: the place is insanely packed every time I go. Normally I'd be a little suspicious of long lines, assuming that the staff were slow and inefficient, but having watched food being prepared and talking to the cashier I know these guys are legit. On to the groceries... The selection is slim but everything I've ever purchased there has been of the highest quality- pastas from Italy, homemade sauces (the diavola is fantastic), and freshly baked breads that are still warm when you pick them up. Their frozen pre-made meatballs are huge and delicious, their wine selection is impressively inexpensive, and the foccacia will have you in tears. This place is a must-see, no joke. Parking can be a bit sketchy, and I wish they were open longer on the weekends, but otherwise this place is a gem. While waiting in line to check out my first time, I talked to a woman behind me who explained that she lived in Columbia, yet every Saturday she insisted on making a pilgrimage to Trinacria to buy something. Trinacria looks unassuming from the outside but inside, it's a veritable heaven. You're hit with delicious smells as you walk into the door. They have a wonderful selection of sandwiches, warm and cold, desserts, wine, pastas, and various other Italian culinary goods. The place was bustling both times I've been now but the line goes quick. The service was warm and friendly and they were happy to answer my questions. I've tried the Veggie sandwich and the Prosciutto sandwich. Both were incredibly delicious and a terrific deal for the price. Also had the Tiramisu which was a solid buy. If you're put off by the outside, or you think they look closed (during reg hours), then you obviously have never experienced the glory of Trinacria. Yes, Trinacria could be a little rough on the outside, but once you get inside, you'll kick yourself for judging this book by it's cover. Always busy, the space is limited because it is chock full of so many goodies. There is always marked down wine, and by marked down, I mean, cheap enough for you to have an awesome party. In the frozen section in the back is always pasta, lasagna, calzones and other delicious things that are made by them. The bread goes fast, with excellent reason. If you haven't read about their amazing deli, then you need to just go and have a sandwich. And make sure you pick up some cannoli shells with their filling and fill them when you get home. Don't forget to pick up some olives. Basically, it's the most amazing Italian themed night all in a small store. Only downfall, their hours are odd. I've been a huge fan of Trinacria for about 3 years now. Their sandwiches are AMAZING, their deli rocks, and who can resist $4 wine??? My favorite sandwich is the prosciutto and mozzarella sandwich, but you can basically custom-build any type of sandwich you want. Their breads are also delicious, especially the foccacia. The "grocery" is really small but seems pretty authentic. They even have some homemade entrees in the freezer so you can pretend you have an Italian grandma cooking for you even if you're not Italian. They also cater! Unprepossessing as the store front of this institution is, you must ignore it and push past the iron grated windows and door. You'll enter an old-timey Italian deli haven. There is a wall of cookies that would make a great jig-saw puzzle photo. They're not delicious, unfortunately. Go instead, for the cold-cuts, cheap everything and sandwiches. The most disheartening thing about this place is that I have recently turned vegetarian, so no more mouth-watering prosciutto sandwiches, or the incredible and wildly inexpensive cold cut sandwich, or the roast beef sandwich. Trinacria is a hop, skip and a jump from my residence. I had driven and walked past it many times thinking that I should stop in and am glad I finally did. The exterior is lack luster but inside, there is a bustle of people, shelves of fresh breads, bottles of oil and olives, boxes of wines (not to be confused with "boxed wines") and much more. Everything is reasonably priced including their sandwiches. I had the Italian Cold Cut which included spicy Italian meats, lettuce, tomato, oil, spicy peppers and provolone all packed nicely onto a fresh Italian loaf. At $3.99, it's one delicious and affordable lunch I will be purchasing often. For the same price, I sighted a fine bottle of olive oil, and loads of wine, which I now regret not picking up last visit. My only complaint would be that the store is closed Mondays and is only open until 4:30 on days it is open. read more

As I work near here, I've gone a couple of times for lunch. Something that I love about trinacria is that the sandwiches are VERY big. I normally get the roast beef panini which is huge. It is extremely filling. I've also tried their ravioli. They are very good as well but the portions are not that big. It does come with some garlic bread though. My favorite at trinacria is probably the Mediterranean pizza and the cannoli. I don't like vegetables very much but the onions on the Mediterranean pizza were so good that I couldn't stop eating it. I highly suggest this pizza. I also love the cannoli because it is not overly rich. It does get very busy at lunch hours but if you avoid those times, it's usually nice and quick. It is a great place for lunch or for dinner! read more

We drove from NoVa to Trinacria specifically to buy cold cuts to serve during the long Thanksgiving weekend with our family. The idea was that the reviews about Trinacria pointed at a real deli where they know how to slice meats. Well, not so much.... What we brought home was salami, mortadella, cappacola, and prosciutto that was piled into individual heaps and wrapped in newsprint-type paper. No, it wasn't the thick butcher paper. And it made the meats taste weird. People: you slice it THIN, you don't SHRED it. it was that much worse because our family hails from New England, where they actually know how to slice this stuff. Can't believe it took me so long to finally try this place. Trinacria is a Baltimore institution in a rather peculiar location. Can someone fill me in on the history as to why it's located on Paca near Mulberry/Franklin? There's no Italians around there!! Anyways, you walk into this non-descript shop and you are in heaven. Stocked with imported wines, pastas, cheeses, sauces, and more, the customers are cajoling around waiting for their order. You get a ticket as you walk in and then you go and wait to be called. The menu is very extensive and almost anything you select, you can guarantee that it will be fresh and delicious. I went with the Italian roast beef sandwich on focaccia bread accompanied with a San Pellegrino Aranciata soda. Absolutely delicious. I was pleasantly surprised. I've been to some classic Italian deli's and shops all over the east coast and in Chicago, and this is by far one of the best ones around. The first time I came here, it was insanely packed in the store even though it wasn't a normal lunch hour but since then I haven't experienced that kind of crowd; usually I call in my order first just in case. I've been meaning to write a review for Trinacria for a while but it seems a bit pointless because of how popular it is but I decided to put my say in anyway. I've been coming here for over three years now (they finally started learning my face/name! :D) and used to get an insatiable craving for the muffaletta. Since then I've moved onto my new regular sandwich: the tuna (with lettuce, tomato, hots, and onion), it is really yummy and all of their sandwiches are big for how cheap they are (for example, the meatball sub is huge and dense). Not really a fun of the mozzarella sandwich or the chicken cutlet because they just don't match up to my favorites. You have to go to Trinacria if you're in Baltimore. Simple as that. I used to work about a block away and would go to Trinacria at least three times a week. Sometimes I wouldn't even buy anything, I would just tag along with a co-worker to talk to the staff and take in the amazing smells. They have the best and biggest sandwiches you'll find for $6 anywhere. Ever. Get the Chicken Parmesan on focaccia and share it with a friend. Mike's Sweet Chicken Salad Sandwich is also a winner when they have it. One downside is that you might be tempted to try dessert. It's so worth it, though. The cannolis are seriously outstanding. No time to make dinner? No problem. They have a wide array of delicious, homemade Italian meals in their freezer that you can take home and bake. Need restock your pantry? Also not a problem. You can buy an enormous jug of quality, imported, olive oil for under $10. You can also buy delicious homemade pasta sauces, imported Italian pastas and condiments, and so much more. Did I mention that they also sell wine? They have a wide array of wines with some priced as low as $3 per bottle (and they don't taste like $3). I frequent this deli several times a week for either fresh meats, produce, sauces, cheap wine ($3.99/bottle) or their unbelievable sandwiches. Every sandwich is handmade and made within minutes. Some favorite include the Turkey Tapenade Sandwhich ($5.99), Prosciutto Sandwich ($6.49) and the Muffaletto Sub ($5.99). The bread is always fresh along with every ingredient. Big portions and great quality cuts. Cannolis are a must as well. Try to avoid around lunchtime because it gets crowded, nonetheless the service is always superb and well worth the wait! Unless you go to NYC on a regular basis and can hit the Arthur avenue authentic Italian neighborhood, then Trinacria is the place to hit! I was amazed at the amount of product packed in this place, my mamma and I were in ode of such abundant authentic product is here. The prices are to die for, unheard of to find Montepulciano d' Abbruzzo or just vino di tavola (table wine) for $2.99! For $6 you can get lunch and dinner in one delicious sandwich. I really like the olive oil spread that has green olives in it. Very flavorful and works well with the meats that come with it. I would skip on the chicken pesto sandwhich though. The pesto is not very flavorful and could use some mayo and bacon. But thats just me... I am totally confused to all the posts here. My co-worker and I went there for lunch one day because of all the outstanding ratings BUT... My co-worker had a pork sub, split pea soup, mozarella & tomatoes... I had the italian sub...WORST subs I have ever had..My italian..extremely hard bread..just you traditional slices of deli meat you could get a your local Giant or Safeway, not even piled high, some shredded lettuce, slice of cheese, light italian dressing. An italian specialty store with a totally failed italian cold cut sub?? My co-worker said the pork sub was not bad but his split pea soup was unedible..like a think coagulated green slopp. One bite and he tossed it. Ridiculous..............ly amazing! Chicken Parmesan $6 - crunchy toasted bread (tasty as Panera's bread) with soft chicken on the inside with some mixture of scrumptious cheese and tomato sauce. No idea what delicious concoction of spices, but the texture of crunchy outside with chewy inside :D Very big, and I could only finish half (pre cut to 2 halves). Bonus points - I brought some friends to show the amazingness the next day, with the other half of my chicken parm to eat. I was just gonna eat it cold, but while chatting with the cashier dude/owner, he was like "Gimme dat sandwich" Returned in 2 minutes, bread toasted, and the same soft inside as if it was freshly made! I was finally able to get here for lunch last week. It was a 10 minute walk from my office so I ventured there. It is funny because the store front makes it look...not so appealing. But when you walk in and the smell of that fresh baked bread punches you in the face, you know that you will be OK. I went with the prosciutto sandwich with fresh mozz, pesto, and tomato on fresh bake focaccia bread. The bread smelled so good, I bought a loaf to take home with me. Only $2!!! I cannot say anything more than what has already been said about this place. My experience was good, the sandwich was huge for the price, and best of all, it was delicious. My only complaint is that it is in such a remote location and it is not closer to my house! I will surely be returning to this place to explore more Italian options!! read more
