This is a super cool place for good cheap booze and a good time. They also serve food but I've never gotten it here...yet. I always get Red Trolley, my favorite beer in SD. They have TV's usually showing sports, but it's really more about the games here. Darts, shuffleboard, pool, ping pong, Golden Tee golf...it's a blast to drink and play here. The people are all really cool, and it's not "trendy" or "dirty" or scary or whatever...it's just plain cool to hang out here. There's even a great back patio that's roomy and has a bunch of tables and chairs. Only problem with that is if there's a bunch of people smoking out there it can start to suck if you're like me and HATE cigarette smoke (*hack, cough, choke). Sorry smoker, but gross. read more

I love Triple Crown. There are so many thing to do at this bar! One of the few bars in San Diego that actually has Shuffle Board, Ping Pong and Foosball, along with the regular bar games, pool, darts erotic photo hunt.. . So many options to keep you entertained! I have not had the food here, but assume its just normal bar food, nothing too fancy. They have beer, lots of beer. I love beer, but occasionally I like to mix it up with liquor which is not an option here. If they had a full bar, I may have given 5 stars; but their beer list is quite extensive! Suuuuuper croweded when I went, but still fun! I like this place. I had beer, plus I didn't buy (even better). Gets really busy, so if you're not one for a really busy spot on the weekends, skip it. But other then that, highly recommend. We started here and ended at Bar Pink I think. We went to a few places. This one I would have preferred to stay at, it's not loud like Bar Pink was. Cool little bar in North Park. Lots of games (pool, shuffle board, etc). A good sized bar with friendly staff, an outside patio, and a reasonable amount of places to sit. It's a good, low-key place to head with a group of friends. The one problem with it is that the games make it slightly cramped...my group had to constantly move in order to avoid the billiards players. Otherwise, it was a nice enough joint with friendly people a-plenty. read more

The trip is my favorite normal heights bar. Its just beer and wine but its a great place to hang out. They have darts, billiards, ping pong and TV. They also make food after 6 most nights. I always get the TJ dog, it is delicious. read more

This is one of my favorite bars every (despite the fact that they do not have hard alcohol). I would describe the overall experience as one of going to someone's super awesome house-party where the keg never runs out and they have an extraordinary amount of ping pong tables. I am a sucker for the patio with TVs, darts and the aforementioned ping pong (the also have pool and shuffle board and probably other things I don't know about). It's big enough that it never really gets too crowded even on a weekend night. The crowd is a little strange but hey, I like that too. read more

Finally got someone to try this place out with me and I hope he's as much a fan now as I am. I was definitely siked after reading alot of the other reviews on this site about all there is to do there and I was not let down. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and the drinks are cheap (A+ for that). This is most certainly not like other bars in SD where everyone is looking for the next nightcap. And the food menu though scarce is quite good. I look forward to making this my new favorite hangout. read more

Great mellow place to come relax with friends and meet new ones. Atmosphere is really friendly, you can play pick-up games of ping pong, darts, pool, shuffleboard...so much to do here besides just sit at a table, drink beer, and steer at your date or friend. Playing the various games there makes for good times for both gals and guys. The tournaments they have for ping pong every other Monday are great too (come show us your skills). read more

Love this place! It's wonderful to walk into a down-to-earth type of bar. The clientele is very friendly and a good mix of young and old. Great place to watch a game. I also like the variety of beers available. Another major plus is that they have food! I've had the burgers and TJ hotdogs! They don't have fries and or sides for that matter, but do have a selection of potato chips. The only negatives are parking and the fact that they only have one men and one women's bathroom. This can be an issue one busy evenings on weekends. read more

I've been to this place a few times because they have a pool table. My third visit here I informed the bartender there was a bug on my beer and he said it's a win win because I had my beer and the bug got it's beer. Now, a bug can occasionally get in in any bar I understand that but there bartender looked at the situation and blew me off completely so that's the type of service you might get here. I won't be coming here again, if you're looking for a place to to treat you like your being there matters this is not the place. read more

This is my FAVORITE bar in San Diego!! Everyone here, owners included are so friendly an down to earth. I love to come here when your just looking to relax and have fun playing a game or two. I love love love to play games so please tell where else in San Diego has every game imaginable?? Ping pong, darts, pool, shuffleboard!! Come on!! Not to mention a great juke box. Make sure to get some yummy pretzels and dip! This is place is so low key and has a huge patio to relax and watch football on. The bartender was very nice, attentive, and his beer recommendations were on point; even when it got busy it didn't feel crowded, and we could still have a conversation even when it got louder. Great spot for what it is, it's not trying to pretend it's Gaslamp and it's not portraying an image of El Cajon, it's just a simple, surprisingly large, bar in 92116 that provides a spot to not only drink in good company but play a host of games from shuffleboard to darts, from pool to foosball, from pinball to.....hamburger eating contests. Oh yeah, and for the real ping pong enthusiasts whether you be from China or a motorhome campground in Wyoming, they have tables both inside and outside. Great crowd, friendly and quick service, always good beer on tap and windows that open out onto Adams in the summer or whenever the big bosses feel like. I just started going to this place before/after adult league kickball games (wait... is that a contradiction in terms?!?!) and the TCP is a nice place to get pre/post game drinks. I guess this could be a dive bar but it still seems to have an inflated sense of self. It serves my purpose but I wouldn't adopt it as a home bar. The good: There is a great selection of beers to drink, ping pong/pool/darts, padres game is always on, free pretzels and dip, outdoor patio with seating, decent jukebox The Bad: beer prices are a little steep for the location and ambiance, watch out for ping pong balls as the room is a little cramped, fickle bartenders. This is a pretty cool place. They have a huge beer selection, but ONLY beer, so it's a great place to chill and watch the game, but not great when I feel like drinking something fruity and girly. My boyfriend (who thankfully never feels like girly drinks) always finds a new beer he enjoys here. I haven't gotten to play yet, but they have shuffleboard and ping pong and an entire pool room -- all sorts of stuff. All in all, there's tons of fun stuff to do here, and they always have the game playing, so this is a decent place to go when you need a night out. read more

Triple Crown is my favorite bar in San Diego by far. I wouldn't expect everyone to give it 5 stars but I do based on the following: Bartenders: All the Bartenders are pretty good, but Gus and Ken generally run the show on the nights when Im there and they are awesome. Games: In particular Shuffleboard and foosball. The Shuffleboard table is pretty good, it runs on the dry side but it's in good condition, the only down side is alot of times there will be the drunk ass double date that hold onto it for over an hour but most of the time just calling next generally speeds them along. The foosball is awesome though. The table is one of the better tables in San Diego bars (that Im aware of) and receives regular maintenance by its owner who rents it to the bar. There are enough regulars to keep a sense of order and you don't see anyone holding the table hostage for long periods of time since there are usually challengers lined up waiting. Not that I win often but it sure is fun getting a few free games against challengers rather then paying to play your friend over and over. Seating: Yes it does get crowded on occassion but for one reaon or another I can always find a place to sit when not occupied by foosball/shuffleboard, thats a big plus for me. Patrons: One of my favorite things though is the fact that each week I see a different crowd. Sure their are regulars but by in large you get a different feel pretty often (at least on weekends). I think this has to do with it's proximity to the other bars on Adams and groups doing bar crawls. I obviously understand why its called a sports bar since there are tvs showing sports everywhere but I personally have a hard time calling it a sports bar. Short of a couple of people at the bar watching the playoffs, no one seems to give a damn about the tv's. Lastly I will say that you don't come to the Triple Crown to meet girls. You just don't. Like many before me have said, the ratio is painfully one sided most nights but I see no harm in that. I find hanging out with my friends at a relaxing bar more fun then skeeming on girls. The place is pretty small but the crowd is a good mix of old, young, hip, college, and strange.
