This place was a fun new find. Found them on @Portland's IG. They seem to have opened end of July 2020. We visited as a party of 3 during August of times of Covid-19. Not sure if there's usually indoor seating There was plenty of outdoor seating available though we could tell we got there at perfect timing because shortly after we sat to wait for our food and drink, the line got long with people waiting to order. Each table had a bottle of Sani Spray which I used on the table when the previous people sitting left and shortly after an employee asked if I just sat and if I would like the table wiped. The customer service was friendly in general. Everything came out quickly and Prices were fair, menu's attached for your reference. The food and drinks were fun. We got some antojitos since we planned to eat elsewhere later but needed an afternoon snack. We got the Guac & Chips and the fried plantains. The plantains were perfectly fried & hot and the sauce it came with was delicious. A little watery texture but flavor was on point. The Guac was delicious as well, I personally think it could've used a little more salt and lime and the menu said it has Chapulines in it but I didn't see or taste them. For drink, we got the whole piña colada with rum in a pineapple. You can tell that's what will be popular because there was employees brining in boxes of Dole pineapples through our visit. The ambience was super cute. Bright colored and tropical vibe for their seating area and the trailer where you order and where they make/you pick up drinks (food is taken to you) is open so you get to see the processes. This place was fun and I look forward to visit on my next trip to Portland! read more

Our group was so excited to go out together for the first time as a vaccinated bunch, and wanted this place with the "cute website," to be our first official gathering spot. Sadly from the beginning the staff was what I hate about Portland "hip" hospitality- cold (Didn't greet us when we walked in stood in front of us on the register for a while with out saying anything or making eye contact), annoyed we asked for a menu ("umm... it's a QR code) and raised eyebrows when we mispronounced a cocktail name. 2 stars for the tasty mezcal drink, food had beautiful presentation but mediocre taste, and tiny portions for price. Mostly it just sucks to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome by a bunch of too cool 4 u staff. I forgot this feeling was a thing when sometimes dining in Portland. At least in the age of covid they can't also glare at you and say "cash only" when you try to pay with a card. It really ruined the entire experience for us :( read more

Honestly the service ruined our experience, and on our anniversary which was a bummer. Came here Thursday around 4:30, walked up to the door, then were promptly scolded for not getting in line. It was an honest mistake, we apologized and hopped in the back of the line, after two other couples waiting. Their line system felt wonky, even after knowing it was there, the signage and layout seemed odd. Once you're at the front of the line, it's one party inside at a time, however no one told us to come in, and after the scolding we felt apprehensive about walking in. Again, we felt like we were inconveniencing them with wanting to order, but we finally did order a pina colada, and a few tacos each. My partner was bummed that no NA beer was on the menu. So again, the interaction felt off. Sat down with our number, waited a few minutes for my drink, which was good, very strong. Our food arrived after 10 minutes or so, my fish tacos were just ok, but I wish there had been different salsa options that were a little more mild. As we people watched we realized how grand of a time all the staff had together inside, laughing loudly and carrying on, but didn't seem to want to be there working. I've talked with a few friends, who have had similar experiences with the service here at other times. It's such a beautiful place aesthetically, and has such potential, but bad service, especially for one of our first post covid dining experiences, isn't something I can come back for. read more

Come early. There's usually always a line and having a buddy with you to snag a spot to eat while you wait to order will work best. Their drinks are tasty and I always get the tequilia sampler to give me that extra kick. I havent branched out much on their menu, but I stick to their tacos. Ive had times of when the chicken was to die for and others when its drier than sand. Otherwise their salsas are amazing and their ceviche is interesting and unlike any ive tried before. Okay, I'm a sucker for a good drink in a pineapple just like all of you all, and, well, this one is GOOD. It is fresh, boozy, and fun to drink. It's almost along the lines of a tropical bloody mary. The service has been good both times I am there, and makes for a fun date spot or meet with friends. I also have tried two drinks off of their cocktail menu which are tasty as well. They have a couple of beers on draft. This is the type of cocktail spot that Portland needs more of. It's definitely a heck-yes-its-sunny-in-Portland kinda location. read more

Visited Portland from Seattle and traffic was terrible. Saw this place on Yelp to grab a couple tropical drinks and some chips/salsa/guac. I'd much rather have a piña colada in hand than sit in an extra hour of traffic. Our visit was during the summer so the patio seating was very nice and colorful. I hate leaving bad reviews, but don't go here to eat. I think they're only known for the Instagram worthy cocktails, but that's it. The line was ridiculous and not worth the wait in the end. They kept forgetting parts of our meals and one of our cocktails, that we finally got after we finished our meal already and had to chug. The tacos weren't good and the chicken was super rubbery. Visited based on a list of places to visit in Portland and the pineapple photos (yes I know I'm basic). Loved being able to bring our pup to drink/eat on the patio. The hostess at the front who took our order was very sweet however the lady who brought out our food/was our server was pretty rude, unfortunately. Both the drinks were awesome and the grilled octopus was delicious but small in comparison to other places I've had this dish. Another note is the guacamole was surprisingly bland. If you are looking for a dog-friendly place to have a drink I'd suggest a visit but I'd skip the food. read more

Came here with my partner and two friends. We all had cocktails, I ordered the ceviche, partner had cochinita tacos, the two of us shared another order of tacos and had chips and guacamole. Friends ordered a similar amount of food. Everything tasted pretty good, the ceviche had a nice spice on it and my cocktail was delicious, so much so that I was trying to savor it. We had issue with the service though, we were basically kicked out of our table right after we finished eating. I still had a little bit of cocktail left when the waitress said that if we weren't going to order another round they needed the table back as they had a "waitlist". I looked at the line and there were probably 4 or 5 groups/couples waiting (which was half as long as the line we stood in). We told her we were just finishing up and she then proceeds to grab the rest of my drink, that I had moved away from her when she first started clearing dishes, and walks away! I get that a small place can't have people lingering too long especially if they aren't ordering but this felt very pushy. From the time we got in line to the time we got back to our car only 60 minutes had passed. We spent at least 10-15 minutes waiting to order and the rest of the time was eating, which doesn't seem unreasonably long to me. I would have appreciated being able to finish my $12 cocktail. read more

Stopped by for a quick Pina Colada while i waited for Reservations down the street. The drink was what was to be expected : Fresh fruit blends with your general coconut milk & topped with fresh cherry skewers & dried cocktail citrus. think I payed $9 for a 12oz drink which was very reasonable. It looked like there was plenty more in the menu, however Caribbean & South of the Boarder drinks appear to be their specialty. The staff is fairly young with makes the atmosphere lite & fun, but they seemed more concerned with chatting with friends or locals than promptly taking most orders. Just dont go if your in a rush lol, but they were all good people. id suggest going & giving it a try during a nice sunny afternoon to maximize drinking these drinks. read more

Specifically came here for the pineapple colada. FOMO am I right? For ~$15ish a pop, this better be the best damn pineapple. All I can say, for a sunny and great day, it was a nice drink :) Although it is meant to be shared, you can EASILY finish it on your own. I'm impressed by how well the flavors and alcohol mixed together as one didn't over power the other. Lastly, Tropicale also offers a good selection of food. I'd definitely take my friends back here cause of the yummy goodies around. read more

I love checking out new places, and this one popped up on my feed in Facebook so I went a checked it out. To my surprise there was an extremely long line around the place, and I know this has to be good. The line moves pretty quick took about 20 mins to order the only thing to note it's best to order extra cause getting back in the line is not worth it the line keeps growing, and growing. So when it was time to ordered I made sure to order a little of everything 1 whole pina colda, 1 large spicy mango margarita, 2 shrimp tacos, 2 steak tacos, toastones, and the octopus. The whole pina colda in a pineapple is incredible not to sweet and very fresh, the spicy mango margarita needed more spice, and need more sweet to balance it out. I don't recommend the toastones they were little like hockey pucks which is was sad because traditional ones are my favorite, and these need to be made properly. The tacos where amazing I could eat those everyday especially the shrimp, as for the octopus I thought it was pretty good could be a little more tender. Additionally, I'm very sensitive to alcohol -- it hits me pretty hard. I didn't even get a buzz from the cocktail, which is a first in my entire life. It's a little cart next to other cool food spots with plenty of outdoor seating. They're known for the big pineapple cocktail. A lot of their drinks have fresh pineapple, or grapefruit, or coconut. Sadly I'm allergic to a lot of these but the bartender was able to make something up for me with rum. It was strong, tasty, fruity, and beautiful. I also had the guac and chips.
