We were looking for some BBQ close to our house. We had passed by this spot many times and decided to stop in. We ordered the family meal with two lbs of meat, two sides, and a gallon of tea. This meal didn't disappoint!! It is better than lots of other BBQ places we've been to. We had the brisket and turkey. Both were moist and tasty. The sides were yummy:cream corn and Mac and cheese were a hit. If you are looking to feed 3-5 hungry Texans this is your place for a good meal.

I was shocked at how good BBQ could be at a super market of all places. I suppose Texas really does know how to do BBQ right. This pulled pork sandwich was absolutely delicious. I love the flavor options of sweet or spicy bbq sauce. Both were really good. They had a nice selection of beers on tap. I went with the electric jellyfish IPA and enjoyed it.

A bar and BBQ next to a grocery store. YES please!! This is the best idea! Need dinner they have it. Quick drink while your spouse shops, done! It's also kids friendly As for the food. I love the BBQ brisket nachos. The brisket has nice smoke flavor and sits atop a bed of crispy tortilla chips and creamy mild cheese sauce. It is topped with Jalapeños. Careful though. HEB has good peppers. If you don't like spice have them on the side. The rest of the food is normal Texas BBQ. Not my favorite but will do in a pinch. The bar though! Again, great idea! It has happy hour, trivia, live music, and very friendly bartenders. The best part is that the patrons are your neighbors. It's all people from the surrounding neighborhoods. Super fun place to get to know people.

My sisters and I came here after shopping at our local HEB. We've been in before renovations; food is still good. We both got Turkey, sides were the same except my sister got beans (which she enjoyed). Both meals came out to $12.99 I believe, but then again we got Turkey not brisket & no drinks just water cups to save some coins lol. I will most likely come back to try the brisket & other meats since it's right next to HEB Service: 8/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Bathroom clean: 7/10

Decided to try the Too Good To Go Surprise Bag from True Texas BBQ, knowing that I'd just hop back in line and order some extra things based off of what wasn't included in my surprise bags. From the moment I parked in the HEB lot, the sound of live music lifted my spirits and had me excited to finally check this place out (because there isn't one at my usual HEB). Both surprise bags came with pulled pork, baked potato, creamed corn, and strawberry cobbler. Walking in, I was greeted at the ordering counter by Mike, who was very hospitable and kind. After confirming pickup for my TGTG order, I made my way around the corner to the pickup counter, where Jason politely pushed my order through the pass through window. After taking a quick peak into my bags, I knew it was time to hop back in line to order the baby bear some macaroni (medium side) and ordering myself the peach cobbler for research purposes, since I'm a Georgia girl. Mike and Jason continued to be kind the second time through, and Jason even offered a bigger bag to hold all three of my to go orders and the baby bear at the same time. The macaroni was delicious. My little baby bear was laughing out loud and had a jolly good old time eating half of the medium sized side by himself. It's sooooo creamy. The peach cobbler was what you'd expect from a bbq chain- it's clearly made with canned peaches and has inconsistent texture throughout, but it'll do and has decent flavor for being made in Texas. The creamed corn was delicious! It has a nice kick to it and a strong bbq flavor, like they decided to roast it alongside the brisket. I could eat a whole side of that by itself and be perfectly content. Pulled pork - juicy and full of flavor! Honestly, you could eat it plain or put it on a sandwich. It's solid either way! If I had a big enough appetite to eat it all, I'd just load up the baked potato with the creamed corn and pulled pork and have that as a meal! The strawberry cobbler was reminiscent of making a cake in a mug with some canned strawberry pie filling. It tastes good. Obviously not an actual cobbler since it has more of a cake-like flavor and consistency, but it does taste good. Honestly, I think the strawberry dessert tastes better than the peach dessert. You won't be disappointed if you just view them as desserts instead of cobblers. I loved trying something new with the Too Good To Go App and the surprise of not knowing what was in the bag was delightful. I'll definitely order their surprise bag again, but I'll probably just do one next time since it seems like all surprise bags for that time frame receive identical items.

Stopped here while at HEB to get dinner to take home. First time here. Got 1/2 pound of the Lwan Brisket 1/2 pound of the Turkey, Cole Slaw and cream corn for sides along with peach cobbler and a banana pudding. Overall everything was good, nothing really would me. It was good BBQ, but not outstanding.

A BBQ place next to a grocery store? Sounds pretty cool! Had a good experience at True Texas BBQ. They have indoor and outdoor seating and live music is available too which makes the experience so much better. I got the two meat plate. I usually get regular brisket but feel like it can be a little dry, I decided to switch it up and try the chopped brisket and I actually really enjoyed it! Portions for the meat could be a littler better considering the price but overall enjoyed the food. Service was great, the staff were really attentive and friendly.

Always good always fresh can never go wrong with their potatoes. The service is always welcoming and friendly it's always clean in there as well

Brisket Birria Ramen

I'm absolutely mortified! I just spent $12 on 1/2 cup of leftover chopped brisket in. Broth and a prepackaged Tapatio ramen birria bowl. Do better HEB! You advertised this "meal" as an east meets west creation, but it was a side of meat with a cheap ramen soup that wasn't even prepared!!! We had to come home and make it before we could pour the meat in. So gross and such a waste of money!!

IMMACULATE. My grandma and sister picked up my girlfriend and I from the airport and pulled up here…read moreright after on 4th July weekend. We arrived around 5pm on a Thursday and got in queue which was out the door and wrapping around the front porch. Their host/doorman was kind, he offered the line water on many occasions and made pleasantries with almost all guests as the line moved. It was a hot day so those waters were clutch. By the time we made it to the front of order line maybe 40 minutes had passed. But ladies and gents the wait is worth it. When we plated our trays on the table my family all had heart eyes, and had equally loved our first bites. Their brisket is extremely tender. It's beautifully sliced and made for an amazing welcome back to the South taste for me. I was in heaven. I particularly enjoyed having the fresh pickled red onion for fresh, zesty cuts through the abundance of other saltier elements on the plate. Their menu is slammin! Their sides, and sausages all had crafty ingredients. I enjoyed their spicy link options and their macaroni was delightful. Their BBQ sauce was a nice 4/5 but certainly did the job. As a native Texan who's had their fair share, this was easily some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Top 5 top 5 top 5. I'm of course coming back and looking forward for more banana cream pudding especially. They were small, slightly sweet, and had great balance with the vanilla wafer ratio. That whip cream on top too had me hooked. I couldn't have asked for a better welcome back meal for the bold Texas cuisine, hospitality, and novelty animal and cowboy decor.

Favorite item was the Alamo huevos rancheros. This was a rare treat to enjoy a dish with brisket, cheese, and salsa without some kind of heartburn afterwards. But this was lighter than expected and tasted amazing! Other dishes we tried: Egg white frittata: very good and a nice touch that it is served in a skillet! Texas waffle: was one of the best waffles either of us has had in a long time Blueberry pancakes: very good. I really enjoyed the stewed blueberry Chilaquiles: this we felt was the only miss. Didn't like that it was prepared with tortilla chips instead of fried tortillas Steak and eggs: ask for extra chimichurri sauce and maybe add some extra salt. Once you do that, this dish is fantastic Avocado toast: this definitely needs smoked salmon or other protein. Otherwise it isn't very substantial. I had it with smoked salmon and it really hit the spot. The service was polite and attentive. We're excited to return for our next visit

I had made reservations to meet some friends here for brunch/lunch 1145 am on a Sunday. This place is bigger than it looks! There's seating at the main building, plus a huge outdoor patio seating area, and an entire other building beautifully decorated. The hostess was welcoming and friendly and our server was excellent. We were seated in the other building near the windows. The menu wasn't huge, but just right with a few lunch and brunch items. After debating for a while of what to order, I decided on the Texas Gulf Shrimp plate. Agua Fresca of the day per our server was strawberry pineapple. Our server was able to water mine down slightly- since it was very sweet, but love knowing that it was freshly made. Complimentary chips and salsa always a plus, and we were able to order some spicy salsa to accompany at no charge. My shrimp plate was delicious! 2 skewers of nicely cooked and seasoned shrimp atop salsa with perfectly cooked cilantro rice and a fresh leaf salad. A half slices avocado accompanied my plate. Oh how I love avocados. I thoroughly enjoyed my plate. The chicken al carbon was also a good choice - half a chicken that was juicy, not dry. The avocado toast was beautiful and the pecan salsa was quite interesting. The female performers during our brunch in the room, made it very hard for all of us to have conversations. The volume echoed loudly in the room, so it was very hard to speak and understand each other. Although a great idea, maybe outdoor patio area might be more suitable. Beautiful space, great service, good food.

It is served over green curry, which also happens to be my favorite! The brisket is served on top of the curry bowl, so I first tried just the meat. It was fall apart tender, perfectly moist, and full of flavor! I would pick their brisket over most other BBQ joints in a heartbeat! Next up was the curry by itself. It was also delicious and filled with potatoes and carrots! I am used to green curry being pretty spicy, but this is definitely a milder green curry. When I mixed the brisket in it was the perfect combination! The smokey meat blended with the curry spices was a delight to the palette, and it was just the right amount of food for a big and hungry guy like me! I can't wait to go back to try some of the other dishes! Great food! Fair and reasonable price! Friendly service! Definitely worth checking out!

I got the brisket smoke show, and the tender brisket paired really well with the green curry. The rice was soft, and all the flavors just melted in your mouth. The service was great and the workers were really helpful in helping me decide what to get. You get to sit wherever you want and you just leave your dishes at the table. Restaurant was decorated in such a homey way. Good bbq and good flavors!
