Went to go check out Tulum Mexican Kitchen located in San Jose Vietnam Town. Our waiter Sandra was very nice and attentive. We enjoyed the food especially the Chicken tinga and everything is very instagram worthy . Unlike many other trendy Mexican restaurants, the big difference we noticed is they don't have ear-busting music They had traditional Mariachi and trio music playing at a comfortable volume which was nice. The reviews are very mixed on Yelp with a 3.8 average rating. However I did notice some of the low reviews mentioned that they didn't think a Mexican restaurant should be in Vietnam Town so I would discount those sentiments. I thought the service, food and atmosphere were fine although I'm over the fake ivy / flower walls and if they had a neon sign I would've screamed Overall it was good and I would go back again!

First of all, the restaurant is beautiful inside. Definitely has a nice ambiance and appeared to have a second floor I did not get to see. We ordered the Camarones En Chipotle, Green Chicken Enchiladas, The Dinner Molcajete, and Carne Asada Fries. They even made a breakfast dish for my niece. Everything tasted fresh and was delicious. I highly recommend the Camarones, they were delicious! The servers were nice as well and seemed to be a family business. Would definitely recommend for a family, friend outing, work dinner, whatever!

Our reservation to another place didn't work out for us so I called Tulum the afternoon before our holiday outing and the woman on the phone picked up promptly and noted they could accommodate a 12 person group at opening. This made it so seamless to reserve here. Our group got there at opening and our table was ready and most of the group was already seated when we got there. Drink orders were flowing as the waitress caught up to me and I got a cafe de olla. We browsed the menu and the more I looked the harder it was to pick one thing. I ended up choosing chilaquiles with a bandera sauce and carne asada as the added protein. The rest of the table got all different types of dishes from carne en su jugo to birria to omelettes. While we enjoyed each other's company sipping on our cafecito I enjoyed the ambiance of the space. Nicely decorated for the holidays. Since it was opening time it wasn't as loud as I imagine it can get in there. The sun did shine on the faces of those facing the windows which was not enjoyable for them. There was no way to cover the sun either since it was coming in from the top windows with no shade. My food came out along with the rest of the plates and we went right in to enjoy them. My favorite chilaquiles was covered in the white sauce. The red and green were good but the white sauce was my favorite. The carne was cooked well but I could taste it wasn't marinated or lacked flavor. I didn't get a knife to cut the meat so it was very difficult to enjoy a piece with my chilaquiles. It was hard to cut with a butter knife. I thought it would be a piece of steak but it was a piece of carne asada. Eggs were scrambled and cooked well. The whole plate was filling, had flavor, and was a good portion. The cafe de olla had a good flavor but a tad sweet for my preference. The space in here is a vibe. A fun place to enjoy large gatherings. I came for breakfast but will update when I come back to visit for dinner. Bathrooms are clean. Staff was welcoming and efficient in taking care of our group. Hospitality was a 10/10. Parking in the am was a breeze but at prime time I can see it being a complete nightmare so plan accordingly. I enjoyed my visit and will come back to check out the dinner menu.

Tried this place for the first time on a recommendation from a friend. Went early on a Sunday morning and tried multiple items on the menu. Everything that I tried was more delicious then the next and I was pleasantly surprised when the meal (4 plates & 3 drinks) came up to right about $100.00. I have been here multiple times since and I continue to find the food to be amazing! Everything is always delicious. And the price always tends to be right about $100.00. I have only been for breakfast, but will definitely be coming back to try the dinner menu!

Was skeptical of the 3.8 rating at this restaurant but was pleasantly surprised to find the environment authentic and welcoming. It is in a crowded shopping complex, but definitely worth the wait. The staff was friendly and service was fast. We ordered the chips and guacamole, asada plate and chicken and mole, both plates were delicious and the servings sizes were plentiful. We also had ordered some cocktails which came out timely and were savory! Definitely recommend this restaurant if you're looking for some delicious food and great service! Much deserved 5 stars!

Since they didn't do anything to change the interior of this place from the previous business this restaurant looks really nice. Been meaning to try this spot out for a while. The owners of this restaurant is very bold to open a Mexican spot in a more Asian dominant location. The service here is just ok. After I finish my beer it took them a while to ask me for another drink. And it was like only another table dining in. I end up ordering the molcajete dish that came with a variety of meats and also comes with a side of beans, rice and tortillas. The flavor was nothing special but the chicken and beef was extremely dry. You can tell the meat was already cooked and was just reheated. Hope this location do good but I definitely will not be coming back for food that is mid but prices aren't.

I tried the sopes and they were pretty good. We went during the week and it was not busy at all. The service was friendly and had great recommendations. It's nicely decorated inside.

My friend took me here after finding this spot on TikTok. This place is very Instagram worthy. Only reason I gave it a 3 star was because we waited quite a bit for our waitress to come back and take our order. We were seconds away from leaving after waiting almost 20 minutes. I ordered the mini birria pambazo, which was pretty good. But the consommé could use more flavor since it was bland. My friend ordered the quesabirria and she really enjoyed it. Honestly, I'd come back.

Came here for the menudo and haven't left lol They serve it daily if you need your fix. I've also tried their al pastor tacos and they were delicious. The staff is incredibly kind and the service is great.

Cafe de la olla con pan

Our family went here for breakfast and we had an amazing meal and experience! Our server, Sandy, was personable, great at making suggestions, and knew the menu to help us make our decisions. We had a little bit of everything: enchiladas, chilaquiles, carne en su jugo, buenos días desayuno, chicken nuggets, and huevos rancheros. The cafe de la olla was pretty good, too sweet for me, but overall good. The abuelita hot chocolate was very delicious! I only took a picture of my plate, but everything else looked and tasted so delicious, and the food came out in a timely manner! The restaurant itself is so beautiful with the Mexican decor, style, and ambient! The music was nostalgic when we heard some old school songs from our childhood! We'll definitely be back and we definitely recommend!!

Not sure why this place has such a bad reviews because we had a great experience. Came in on a Monday night and service, food, and aesthetic were all on point. Everyone in my party seemed to enjoy their food and I did as well. I would definitely come back. I had the tinga enchiladas with green sauce. Which were so good! Shredded chicken was juicy and flavorful, plenty of sauce on the enchilada, and rice/beans were good as well.

The ambiance was mid, bathrooms were dirty with trash overfilling. I have to give it to them the customer service was amazing my server was kind and attentive. The food was ok. My queda birria tacos had a strong cinnamon flavor to it, the meat wasn't tender at all. The rice , beans , guac , and cafe de olla were great. Full of flavor and authentic

Plenty of parking available since the restaurant is in a strip mall. It wasn't too busy when we got there, but then it started picking up. I had the carne asada burrito, it was good but nothing over the top that made it stand out. My friend had enchiladas with mole. We were most excited about dessert and decided to share the churros and Tres leches. It was a nice touch that the churros and Tres leches did not come plain, a little pizzazz since they were both served with berries, whipped cream, and a cajeta style sauce. Both of the desserts were so good and a perfect touch of sweetness.

The staff were attentive, gave great menu recommendations, and constantly came by to refill our water. Very spacious dining room. We started with the Queso Fundido, served on a small hot plate with chilis, garlic, and oil on top. It's basically a block of cheese served with chips. Even with the hot plate, it didn't stay gooey for long, but it was a pretty good starter. The Coconut Campachano was creamy and refreshing. It also came with chips, though ours seemed like crumbs from the bottom of the barrel. We got the Trompo tacos and Sautéed Shrimp tacos. Both were tasty, and the tortillas seemed fresh. My wife is Latina, so we're pretty familiar with authentic Latin/Mexican flavors, and from the moment we walked in, we were a little unsure of what to expect. We completely understand we're in Willow Glen and that Copita is going for a more upscale take, but for us, authenticity and flavor still have to be at the heart of the experience. Our waitress was very friendly and polite, and this review is absolutely not a reflection of her service. However, when we asked about the style of the food, there seemed to be a little hesitation in explaining it, which made us even more uncertain about what we had gotten ourselves into. I don't like bashing restaurants or their food, so I'll simply say that, unfortunately, the highlight of our meal was the chips and salsa. The cocktails, on the other hand, were good and definitely not shy on the alcohol! Also, don't expect large portions. The restaurant is clearly aiming for a more upscale presentation and experience, so the plates reflect that. Overall, Copita just wasn't for us. This was our first visit and unfortunately will probably be our last. I genuinely wish them success, but I think a few changes, especially when it comes to the flavors and authenticity of the food could make a big difference.
