My sister, in Eveleth, MN, surprised me with a Twisted Pie delivery in Mesa, AZ last evening!  The Internet.  Am I right? Granted, I haven't partaken of any pizzeria lately- existing primarily on Walgreen's frozen food case for pizza sustenance- but the half sausage half pepperoni pie delivered hot to my door last night was one of the best I've enjoyed in suburban PHX for years! The yummy chewy crust won the day, the red sauce was perfectly portioned to be prominent but not drowning, the sausage was spiced delectably and the large pepperoni slices were subtly smokey and authentic. If I must, I'll caution the oven keepers to scrape the stone diligently to keep burnt flour at bay but my crust bottom was perfectly browned and tender. The happy ending is that I've now learned of a new local business I hope to visit regularly and promote when asked. I'd also like to thank the lovely young delivery woman who kindly offered me an eighth of purple kush, off the books, that I politely declined because I'm not a fan of grape flavored soda pop.  The names these kids come up with, am I right? The crust is what makes this pizza - perfect mix of crunchy and chewy. We had the Meatball Parmigiani which was generously covered with sliced meatballs - so much, in fact, that I removed some of them since they were a little overwhelming (but nothing wrong with some meatballs on the side to eat later)! Really wish they had the cannoli on the menu - I saw it when I picked up the order but they didn't have any made and I didn't want to wait for them to do so, although they offered to make some in 5 minutes. It looked really good. Also we got the special that came with cheesy bread and a 2-liter of soda but they forgot the soda and I didn't remember it until I got home. :( read more

Delicious pizza (coming from a pizza junkie.) You definitely can taste fresh ingredients when eating delicious pies like what these guys serve up! If I were to heavily critique the pizza I ate I'd say the grease made the dough (not sure how you'd even prevent this. And this was as this was delivered to us) a little softer than I'd prefer. Unbelievably great pizza. Not consistent but always good. My first one had a bubbly crust with char marks....yummy! Greek salad was fresh, crispy, flavorful and delicious with the dressing provided. Buffalo wings were great too. I drove by the location and it looked like a partially vacant strip mall unit. I was shocked! I didn't stop so I don't know if it's just a takeout kitchen or what. This saddens me to write this review about Twisted Pie. We have been long time customers and USED to tell all our friends about this place. After speaking with Matthew we will never be returning again. Long story short we ordered a pizza thru DoorDash and the delivery driver must've dropped it or something because it was a mangled mess. We complained to door dash about it and sent them a picture and they refunded us the whole amount. I have met the owner on multiple occasions and he has been absolutely amazing. He has excellent customer service and is a huge reason we are such big fans of his pizza. I tried to call over last night to give them a heads up and let them know about what happened to the pizza and give them a heads up if door dash tries to screw the business over let me know I would be on their side and make sure door dash knew that this was the drivers fault and not any fault of Twisted Pie. Well this is where the story gets crazy. When I tried to call Matthew answered the phone hr then put me on hold but never hit the hold button so i waited 6 minutes on the phone listening to their conversation. Finally after they had forgotten about me I tried to call back. Same guy Matthew picks up the phone i said "did you forget about me Matthew?" he said word for word "meh, it happens." I cant lie I i was totally thrown off by his response especially because every other time we have been there the customer service was impeccable. Although every time we've been there the owner himself has taken care of us. Anyway I said "I need to speak with the owner, I have to tell him a story about this door dash order." He said "he will be here tomorrow after 10am" and rudely hung up the phone on me! So just 20 min ago I was sitting on my couch and i wasn't even gonna call back but I thought about it and I want to own a restaurant someday and felt that if this was my business I would hope my customers would tell me when something like this happened so I called back and guess who picked up the phone? Matthew again! So i simply told him the exact same statement from last night and once again asked yo speak with the owner. He got mad and aggressive told me the owner was not in and said he can take a message. I said "Are you serious?" He then once again rudely hung up the phone on me. I was totally shocked and now it's my mission to make sure that the owner knows what Matthew is doing to his business. I called back one more time and said "I'm gonna drive down there and talk to the owner myself!" His response was "Pack a Lunch Buddy" and one more time hung up the phone on me. That was about 20-30 minutes ago. I was only trying to help a small business owner out and now unfortunately because of Matthew we will never be returning to Twisted Pie ever again.... read more

The perfect pepperoni is far from perfect! The crust was absolutely terrible it was way too soggy. This is an honest review and it's actually the first time I reviewed a pizza shop out here. Having visited several times a year, we have yet to find good pizza in Mesa. Coming from the Chicagoland area we have high expectations I went for take out from Twisted Pies and held my breath. It's "Bostonian Style" so I didn't know what to expect. We were finally happy with our order...sweet sausage, mushroom and pepperoni. My only suggestion is a bit longer cook in the middle, but it's far above any we have tried in 11 years without driving far. Thank you We will return next time out. We don't usually dine out in this area, so we used Yelp to find somewhere near my friends home. We were originally looking for a full service restaurant but took a chance on this little place in the back of a strip mall. We were served by Amos, who was very helpful and shared the specials for the evening. When we asked for what we must have, he recommended the Pepperoni special.
