At first when my friend mentioned going to Two Boots, I thought she was being funny, implying it was some Canadian place (y'know, aboot, bahgel, etc.). Considering I love the crap out of Canadians, I was game either way (though a tad disappointed it wasn't Canadian). Anyway, I totally dug the quirky, funky decor in the place. They also apply this quirky, funky theme to their pizza as well, with various character-themed offerances of slices with buffalo chicken, pesto, and other pizza topping oddities. The slice was pretty good, even though I don't like mushrooms (got the Tony Clifton--mushrooms, some kind of orange pesto, onions and yum). $3.75 for the slice, not too bad. Cute place to drop it to get a slice before an event/after a night of drinking, etc. Reminds me a lot of Ian's in Chicago, which also has unusual pizzas like taco salad, BLT, tortellini pizza, etc. read more

We made the trek from Hell's Kitchen because this is one of few places that advertises non dairy/vegan daiya cheese. We tried three different pizzas here- two were excellent and one was ok. The ok was from the "jalapeno pesto" which we thought would be (basil) pesto sauce spiced up with jalapeno, but was actually jalapeno sauce. No one loved it. Crust was thin and crispy and the other toppings were good. Service was friendly and attentive to the vegan requests. Wish the shop in Hell's Kitchen was open - we would eat here again. read more

can't...stop...ordering...!!!! Never been into the actual place, but I order delivery from here often..too often... I ALWAYS order the whole wheat crust and it is always delicious and cooked just right. Their pies are a bit on the pricey side but totally worth it, in my opinion. the pizza is fresh and totally not greasy. If you want to get a small pizza, go for the Orchidia so you can choose 5 toppings. so far my fave combo would be the marinated chicken, artichoke, spinach, garlic, and black olive, of course on whole wheat! the small is cut into quarters, 2 pieces is definitely enough to fill you up! I had an AMAZING slice of pizza at Two Boots the other night and I have NO idea what was on it. Here's what it looked like: it had blobs of white cheese (probably ricotta?) then some pieces of a very red meat (not bacon, not sausage, not pepperoni.....prosciutto??) and then some brown crumbly piles of something that tasted good and may or may not have been meat. Does this ring a bell to anyone? Well, it was delicious, whatever it was. Plus the crust was soooo crispy, making this my favorite slice of pizza that I've had in NYC so far!! read more

I got two words for ya: crawfish pizza. Who doesn't love that? The taste not only included the spices of cajun seasoning, it also had a slightly fishy taste given off by the crawfish. If that doesn't sound enjoyable to you then you probably shouldn't get this because it tastes exactly like it sounds. The decor is incredibly colorful and unique. You can't possibly confuse this place with any other pizza chain in town, that's for sure. Overall, this isn't quite a destination but more of a nice place to have near where you live. read more

I think that this is the original Two Boots Pizza location but the others are equally good. They make the best pizza anywhere. They claim a dual ancestry with influences from Louisiana and Italy but their pizza is really unique. Several of their slices incorporate multiple unusual ingredients including pesto as a topping. Their creative ingredients are cooked on top of the best thin crust that I have had, enhanced with corn meal . This restaurant, a humble pizza place, has my highest rating/recommenation of any restaurant in NYC. read more

Delivery Review This place was thisclose to a solid 5-star rating. We ordered a large Newman pizza which had sweet sausage, sopressata on a white pizza. We also added fresh basil to the pie and it was delicious. Minus 1 star for when I called the person on the other line told me the pizza would arrive within 30-45 minutes, but we waited an hour. We ordered two orders of spinach artichoke dip. It took over 80 minutes to get here and then when it got here, instead of chips or bread they send us garlic knots. Spinach artichoke dip with garlic knots doesn't taste good... we also got only 6 small knots for two large bowls of spinach dip. The restaurant also should have warned that the servings were huge. 6 knots don't even work for half of 1 dip. We tried calling two boots two times and they hung up. The third time we called they put us on hold for 10 minutes before speaking with us. I haven't the slightest idea why people love this place. I'm all for the whole, "let's try something new" thing, but bad pizza is bad pizza. The crust can rarely hold up to the mountain of toppings that they pile on to cover the awful taste of the sauces that they use. Extremely nice people working there. I came here after leaving a poetry slam and arrived at 12:30 at night. They were closing up but the guy working the cash register said we could stay for atleast 15 minutes. - The flatest crust you will ever get in New York, unburnt and heavenly. I had the vegan slice (I think it's called Mother Earth or something) which can barely be called pizza, but it was tasty and filling. Thick, whole wheat crust, tomato sauce and a ton of grilled veggies on top. It was a good, quick lunch. The guy behind the counter was a little bit strange. Awesome place to go for a slice in Alphabet city. Sauce is tangy and sweet... One of the most unique slices you will have in New York City... Cheese slice was awesome and so was the buffalo chicken. The staff was awesome... Its great when people have a sense of humor and actually enjoy their job, kudos to the employees here. (south eastern US mainly) Both have a cornmeal sprinkled crust (Mellow's is thicker) both have that hippy psychedelic theme going on and both seem to employ people that stick to that theme. There are some good vegan and veggie slices. It's priced comparable to other pizza slice spots with more than the usual generic options. Two Boots is YUM! One of my room mates is Kosher (won't eat meat and cheese together) so we go here for a great veggie pizza. I've had the Earth Mother and Night Tripper. Great pizza! I love how the name their pizzas. The Newman, Mr. Pink, The Dude... only named after some of my favorite TV shows and movies. NBD. I have dined in and picked up food to-go and the service has been great. I am dying to try their newest pizza the Luisaida- which is based on Luis Guzman (How to Make it in America anyone?) and has chorizo, garlic and pickled peppers for the pickle guy. Sounds fantastic. The tastiest pizza in Manhattan, hands down. Not the traditional triangle slice with dripping grease - Two Boots slices have a thick crust with delicious sauce and too many toppings options (I think I counted close to 30 last time I was there) including BBQ shrimp and Crawfish. Seriously who adds that? The pies are named after film and television characters (i.e. 'The Dude' is a cajun,bacon, cheeseburger pie - 'The Newman' is sweet Italian sausage on a white pie - etc ...). I recommend the 'Earth Mother' which has five vegetables on a whole wheat crust. Extra points for naming a pie after Mr. Pink , but take 'em away because it's not vegan. read more

Well I'd love to give them better than 1 star but they couldn't even get their act well enough together to get the pizza the 0.2 miles from their kitchen to my apartment. Hungry and wrangling a couple of hungry teenagers, I called Two Boots. I'm new to the EV and like the Two Boots on W 12th St and figured "what the hell". I place my order. I wait. I wait. I wait. An hour later, I call. I ask where my pizza is and explain that it's been an hour. I am told that "it's on its way already" so, ravenous, I put the phone down and I wait. And wait. And wait. 45 minutes after that, ready to gnaw off my own leg, I call to give them what for and the lady asks what I ordered. I repeat my order and she says "Oh yeah, I remember that order! That was a long time ago!" then puts me down to check on why I haven't seen it yet. When she returned to tell me that she'd lost my order slip, that they hadn't even made it yet, and that if I wanted to wait another 30 minutes they'd make it for me finally I had just about had it but I was feeling kinda all-in at that point. Then came the kicker. After a 2 hour wait, multiple calls, being told it was en route, and then finding out that they hadn't even STARTED, I was not offered a discount of any sort. Hell no. One of my favorite nyc pizza places for sure. The crust is always crispy and never burned, the ingredients are always fresh, the toppings always complement each other, and the spanish guys that work there are always super nice when i stumble in and slur my order at them. Two Boots is definitely my favorite pizza in New York. The have excellent slices at lunchtime and a wonderful variety of eclectic flavors! My favorite is the Larry Tate which has spinach, plum tomatoes and fresh garlic on a white pie. The cornmeal crust is delicious and is the perfect thickness. Not the best but very good and somewhat different from the rest. I love Two Boots as the crust here is a little different and the pizza here has a little bit of a spicy bite to it which is fantastic. When I worked in the city I used to stop in here quite a bit for lunch. Granted there are a plethora of good pizza joints in the city but this is one you should definitely check out. read more

Love this place. They pour their hearts into decorating and their flavor into their food. I've never had a slice I didn't like, especially love their garlic bread too. But the reason I wanna give them love is because of their employees. I had issues with a Groupon from there for issues not even remotely worth explaining. Rather than telling us "oh sorry, we can't take it. Just order like a normal idiot," they gave me a mad deal on a pie and even brought us extra apology garlic bread.
