Somewhere between number 25 and 35 for the Great Chicken Fried Steak Trek. What exactly IS the trek? I started the trek about 20 months ago. The purpose is to visit every place in Reno and Sparks that serves it, then assemble lists and rankings for traditional and gourmet. Two Chicks restaurant just opened a 2nd location in South Reno, so 2 birds one stone! I was fumbling through the menu to see if they served it, and luck was on my side. They offer a hand made CFS, somewhere around a pound of meat. The gravy was perfect, with copious amounts of sausage mixed in. Two eggs over easy because I like yolk porn. The Chicken Fried Steak was excellent, so they are the top ten for traditional. Didn't need salt or pepper, perfect on arrival. Tried the sweet potato home fries and while they are very good, I had a second guess and need to do hashbrowns next time. Three visits and I have missed the hashbrowns. The serve the toast with some sort of cream cheese and fruit mixture, and it was killer. Service is perfect, place is brand spanking new and waiting for you. Guess we will show up in person and see how it goes. Food is always good her so let's see where it will take us later today. I know the south reno two chick's has more parking than the midtown area. They might just be overly busy for fathersday, so call if you think it's needed or wait and just make sure your not super hungry when you do so you don't get Hangry. Again food I would rate a 4. Great breakfast and brunch place in Reno. The Decour is eclectic, a little farmhouse, and a little roadhouse. I was alone, so I sat at the bar and ordered a classic American breakfast: two eggs, sunny, side up, hashbrowns, sourdough, toast, and sage sausage. an extra large cup of coffee that kept overflowing, and a little Mamosa to top it off. The sausage was flavorful, the hashbrowns were perfect. And the sourdough absorbed the sunny side up eggs - just like I like it. The waitstaff is very friendly and genuine. I love the rise and shine! I was so excited to go dine in to eat after work with my sister. The wait was only 5 minutes for Thursday brunch which was awesome! We got sat down and waited 15 minutes before our server finally attended us to ask for our order and drinks. After order and drinks were placed, we waited another 10-15 minutes before drinks were brought out. 30 minutes of waiting, not even a water which was super disappointing. Our food came out but was brought out by someone else, all within that time our server did not check up on us at all but was checking up on every table in her section consistently. Called out for our server and asked for buffalo sauce, she proceeded to go behind the bar to put cups away, check on 2-3 tables and brought out the buffalo sauce 10-12 minutes later when we were practically done with our meal and we were still charged for it. TLDR: Sage Maple Sausage is excellent! Loved the cheddar hashbrowns. No to veggie fritter. Reno version of Scrambl'z. This place really reminds me of the Southbay's Scrambl'z. It's got the same vibrant color scheme, and they both go all in on the eggs. My wife really loved the cute logo of the 2 chicks. This place is a quite big, with several dining rooms. It's attached to the hotel, and even uses its restroom. My wife loves to try new types of sausages, so she was really excited to try the Sage Maple Sausage. I didn't get too much of the Maple flavor, but the sage gave it a great herbal taste to it. The coffee was surprisingly good. Most restaurants have weak coffee water, as she calls it. It's not super strong but strong enough. I got one of my favorite breakfast things... the breakfast burrito. I love the eggs, very fluffy. I didn't get too much of a meat or umami taste. Also the taste was a bit bland. For once, I actually was happy for the chipotle cream sauce, adds a bit of kick and flavor to an otherwise bland burrito. The other thing that surprised us was the dishes were a bit on the smaller side. Only one piece of toast, and it wasn't even that big. Looked like the size of a standard supermarket slice. I tried their veggie fritter, just because it's something unique. I didnt care for it at all. But my wife ordered the cheddar hash browns and I liked it. Again, I wish they gave more. We were staying at the newly-remodeled Aiden Hotel in Reno and Two Chicks can be entered from the lobby. We ended up eating here two mornings during our trip. First I'll say that this place gets busy! Reservations are a must, unless you get there on the early side. They do have a great check-in system, where they text you when your table is ready. Staying at the hotel made it easy for us to pop down, get our name on the list, go back to our room and wait for our text. Both days it was about a 40 minute wait, but we were trying to get a table at peak times. The food was really good. The menu has all of the standard breakfast items, but also some creative items as well, including gluten-free and vegetarian dishes. The first morning, we both got the huevos rancheros. It looked a bit, um, like a puddle of sauce and refried beans when it arrived, but we dug in and it tasted pretty darn good. The second morning, my husband ordered the French toast and I ordered a vegan skillet. Both were good (see photos). Their drip coffee is excellent. They were also slinging a lot of booze...mimosas, wine, Bloody Mary's. We are not day drinkers, so didn't indulge, but I did order a glass of their Folk Kombucha on tap and it was good. I recommend Two Chicks and would definitely go back the next time we visit Reno. read more

I was a Sous Chef under Doug Nelson in Reno and I assure you that your cook did NOT fix my chicken fried steak properly. He/she grilled it exactly as I described. I judge the quality of a menu based on a couple of items. Chicken fried steak and corned beef hash being at the top of my list simply because they are so easy to screw up. My recommendation to you is to train your people on what each item is supposed to look like. If my waitress had known what a real chicken fried steak should look like it would have never reached my table. Also, the manager would have seen immediately what the problem was. read more

This was our first time to this one but we have been to their Midtown location a few times. The parking and bathroom situation was a little awkward as there is currently construction going on at the hotel the restaurant is attached to but it didn't damper the experience at all. Much like in Midtown, the customer service here is good. This company is pretty good at finding and retaining friendly and efficient staff. The menu right now (and possibly for good) is digital and can be accessed by using your phone to scan the QR code. While you will place your order with your waiter or waitress, you'll use your phone to pay your bill. The option to use Apple Pay was there which I was happy about. It's just so easy and quick to use. I'm not sure if they're accepting cash, though. You'll have to inquire about that. read more

On this occasion, however, the waitress passed down a comment from the kitchen staff that we thought was a bummer and an incentive to post what happened and to find other options. I ordered a salad and asked for the salad to be tossed with dressing since tossing it by myself doesn't work well usually since the size of the serving bowl doesn't lend well to it. i figured no big deal as with other places I've been. Never had push back . When we received our orders, I was told that my salad was tossed THIS TIME BUT to remember that in the future they will not do it again since they are too busy to do it. I was surprised. I didn't ask for substitutions or try to order off the menu. I'd bet their management might take the opportunity to retrain on that service deficit. This is the place to be! Mother's Day was the morning I ate here, I came with my mom and my youngest daughter, it was her first Mother's Day. Monday morning errands after the time change had me STARVING! I was in S Reno and craving my favorite breakfast - chilaquiles - so Yelp helped steer me to come nearby! 2 Chicks South was my pick, and calling in the order to-go was easy and pleasant. There is some parking lot construction but not too bad, getting access to the business was OK. My order was ready but finding change for a $20 had the staff running around for about 5 minutes, and that seemed a little weird. The chilaquiles were beautifically packaged and garnished with fresh pico de gallo, but overall, the whole dish was pretty dry. Tasty, but dry. I had my phone out to snap a pic of the dish, but somehow I goofed it! It was a nice presentation, I assure you. It had that nice pico on the eggs, and came with 2 small containers of sour cream but some salsa containers would have made them more pleasant to eat. Menu is great. Lots to choose from. Our server was very nice. Her name is Becca. I had the gourmet bene, hubby had the breakfast tacos. The Bene is delicious as are the sweet potato home fries. Hubby's tacos were tasty, but impossible to pick up, soggy mess. Also his veggie hash was kinda bland. When we arrived, the hostess said it would be 10 minutes, almost a half hour later we were still waiting. This is Monday, what do they do when it's busy? Anyway, there were 8 people, 4 parties of 2, waiting in the lobby when two ladies walk in and were immediately seated. My hubby complained and was promptly scolded by the girl who seated them, saying she didn't appreciate him being mean to her, and she claimed she "didn't know". (Hello! Eight people seated in the waiting area? What did she think we were all waiting for?) Instead of owning her mistake, she tried to act as if we were at fault for pointing it out.
