Wanted to love this place so bad! The location and atmosphere are great, perfect place to sit and enjoy a drink. Four of us dined in here for the first time. Service took an exceptionally long time. Ordered apps and half of the entrees off of server recommendations and not one person loved their food. Felt like I threw money out the window and left feeling completely unsatisfied. Enjoyed my first visit, will be back. I did a sampling of three beers and enjoyed all three. I'm not a huge beer guy, but I'd have them again. The wings were big and tasty. They must take feedback from yelp or maybe it was just a good day, but I didn't feel like the wings were lacking in size or quantity at all. The pretzel and beercheese app was awesome. We decided to walk around downtown Glen Ellyn on a beautiful Sunday day. We came across this restaurant that recently opened and decided to stop in for lunch. After visiting twice with large groups and having positive experiences both times, 2HR has become our go to restaurant in Glen Ellyn. The space itself is beautiful. Between the large open windows in the front that bring the outside in, the open kitchen along the back wall and small touches like the repurposed ceiling tiles from the building's original existence as a pharmacy, the owners have honored the building's legacy and created an inviting space. The menu is expansive, spanning handhelds, pizzas and brewpub staples, and delicious. Definitely order the brussel sprout chips to start. The pulled pork sandwich was tasty while the white pizza was the surprise star of the show. And the beer... don't forget the beer. While I haven't tried every single style yet, the pilsner and hefeweizen are both solid. While service hiccups/complaints are to be expected a few weeks after any restaurant's opening, we never had any issues during our two visits. Both times during rush periods our order was taken promptly and food was delivered quickly. In fact, they seemed to have an abundance of runners bringing food out given how quickly things came. read more

Food, service, location and space are all superb. We were there on opening night. They were crazy busy, but the service and food were great. I've been back a couple of times since and the place is always busy. It is a great atmosphere to grab a beer with the guys or have dinner with the whole family. Had a surprise birthday party for my husband in their Barrel Room. What a great time! Service/food/ambiance was excellent! We had apps all through the party and there wasn't anything that I wouldn't have again...and again! Planning the party was simple and they really accommodated our gluten free guests from start to finish. From the fried pickles to the BBQ chicken pizza, nothing disappointed. The wait staff was very attentive, and it seemed no one ever waited more than a few minutes for a "refreshment". I would recommend Two Hound Red without hesitation! read more

This is my favorite place to go in Glen Ellyn! Not only is the food very good but also the service is great! Joe (the Manager) makes us feel welcome every time, he sees us! The staff recognizes us and we are considered "regulars"...they remember our drink orders. I have even hosted an event here! As for recommendations, my favorites are cheese curds, baked pretzels, coyote salad with chicken or shrimp, pepperoni pizza, cheese burger and shrimp risotto. read more

Eh, not impressed. Good--margaritas and hummous. Eh--white pizza and edamame Bad-margarita pizza. At 8:40 pm I tried to order a pulled pork sandwich to take home, and my server said the kitchen was closed.... hmmmm. I found out later the kitchen actually closes at 9 pm. We have been to Two Hound Red for dinner and drinks, and decided to host a birthday party in their event space. Highly recommend! You can customize a mix of appetizers and we ordered a mix of pizzas to fit everyone's tastes. It's also great that guests can order a mix or beers or cocktails that fit their taste as well. Food is delicious - favorites include white pizza, any burger, pesto chicken sandwich. Angel of light is a definite crowd pleaser for beer. Love the other unique flavors that Steve the brewer comes out with . Live music twice a month on Fridays is fabulous - great way to kick off the weekend. Lots of indoor space - bar, booths, front windows and private room. Outdoor tables are covered and have heaters for chilly weather and tvs for all the games. Could not say enough great things about our experience at Two Hound Red!! Our party of 10 was quickly seated and served drinks and appetizers. The pork nachos and the fish nachos were AMAZING!! Our party tried a variety of beers and drinks, all were great! I especially loved the mango margarita! Our wonderful experience continued into dinner!! Everyone loved their meals! Not very good. Over priced for portion size. Poor quality. I had the fish tacos. The corn shells were soggy and falling apart. They had one small breaded fish that was also soggy and lacked taste. All this topped by a pile of raw cabbage, which was the only thing you can taste. No sauce, guacamole, cheese, sour cream, nothing, just terrible, I should have sent it back. The beans and rice was just plain white rice. The nacho platter was undersized and mostly just chips. I could talk about the other 3 dinners of my guests being equally as bad but I've spent enough time on this. read more

Really enjoining this new addition to downtown Glen Ellyn. The foods fantastic; not something you always find at a brewery. The crispy Brussels sprout appetizer is fantastic, sweet and salty, extremely addictive. The beers are good. They do a lot of different styles so there's something for everyone. Would love if they started to do guest beers as well on tap from local IL breweries to expand their list even further. Last tip - definitely check out the "beerimisu". It's a take on tiramisu, so so good! read more

This was our second time at Two Hound. Food is pretty good but service was absolutely brutal! There was no process in place, nobody came to our table with water, silverware or drinks. Food came out quickly and we enjoyed it. Our waitress disappeared at the end of the night and I had to ask someone else for the check. I would advise the owners to get serious about training their staff and get this right. The building, layout, etc. is great. I live in Glen Ellyn and welcome another choice for food, watch games, etc. but word on the street is that the service is terrible at Two Hound and this place won't last long if this continues. It's not difficult to fix, just needs to be taken seriously. read more

How do I begin....this place is amazing! The staff here is awesome starting from the bar to the management. I was in tonight with christian as my bartender, he is very attentive and a fun person to talk to. He even cleans your glasses! I had the pizza here and it is amazing! There are a lot of breweries similar to this in the neighboring suburbs, but this is definitely one of the better ones. They have a great wine and beer list, just missing a few more ciders. The food is also very good and they have a lot of options to accommodate for carious dietary restricts. The restaurant side is a bit cramped, but there were a lot of large parties while I was there, so I'm not going to hold that against them too much. The staff was great! They were very friendly and knowledgable about them food and drink menu. read more

Wow! First visit and Can't wait to come back. I love a brewpub that also offers wine and cocktails, though the beers are quite good. The food we had was absolutely wonderful. The cheese curds were light, not overly greasy, bready heavy. The "Piggy Penn" pizza was one of the best unique wood-fired pizzas we've ever had. We would come back just for that, but there were so many things we now want to try. We will be back! read more

The beer is great, food is wonderful paired with attentive service and pleasant. During this COVID I am happy to see that this restaurant has gone above and beyond to not only keep the tables spaced 6 feet apart, but more than six feet, as well as removing extra tables from the floor period. The only thing that would be even better is the chefs in the kitchen preparing the food to wear masks. Under normal circumstances I would rate it a 5 however one star taken off due to the food prep staff in the kitchen are not wearing masks. If the management were to change this, I would give it a 5! read more

Having lived in GE for all my life, it's a must to try newer places or if I've never been (support local!). I've heard of neighbors and parents having pretty good experiences, but unfortunately last week was a little lack luster. We could seat ourselves outside, but it took over 15 minutes for a server to come to our table despite them serving other outside tables. We were about to leave since we were hungry and didn't even have drinks, but an employee then mistook our table with someone else's order. This is how we ended up getting service. The food was good, but with the gluten free buns take a good look at them if you need one, ours came with mold on it. We were too hungry and waiting for too long to send it back, so we just ate the burger with no bun. There was live music and good drinks, we would be willing to try again, but FYI this is not a fast service place. Hopefully next time will be better. read more

a very nice space. it looks just like a brewpub should. everyone who works there is so friendly. i had the burger with pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes. it was just fabulous. they make a nice juicy burger that's delicious. my only complaint is with the tiny amount of wine they pour. other than that, it's a really great place. and the best burgers in glen ellyn. they even beat maize and mash. read more
