I got take out for my daughter and me from Hockessin location. My daughter had the roasted chicken but did not eat it all so the next day I heated it up for lunch. I found a small screw in the mashed potatoes. I cannot even fathom how a screw would get in a meal but there it was. Luckily there was no harm to my teeth when I bit into it but it is concerning. I love 2sp, and eat at the Newark location weekly. If this location was my first experience with 2sp, I would never come back. If you would like a "STERILE" family friendly, poorly sized tables and chairs, fewer beers, embracing its StripMallishness, instead of rebelling against it, version of the Awesome Newark location, then This is it. This is an update. I am giving them 5 stars for the beer and 3 for the food after eating at this location several times. The beer needs no explaining. It is all good. They have a nice selection of about 20 beers on tap and all are very good. They keep some all the time and rotate others. They have mostly IPAs but I guess that is what most people want these days. Now the food. They make fancy names for what ends up being overprices bar foods. For example, they have a truffle fry pile which is just regular french fries with a small spoonful of truffle oil infused parmesan cheese and a sprinkling of herbs. They are good, but they hype them up. They do have a specials menu every day and it seems to change daily. That is nice, but like the main menu, the food is not as good as the description. I tried the lamb meatball with arugula special which for $13 was 4 small meatballs on a plate with some kind of special sauce and 4 toasted arugula leaves on top. The meatballs were good, but any Italian restaurant would serve 4 meatballs with a bowl of pasta for the same price. And to use 4 leaves of arugula as a garnish and say with arugula was a bit of an exaggeration. The meatloaf meal was also very good but close to $20. What I am finding is for the small portion of the main meal, it would be nice if they included something with it on the side. The descriptions for each meal all say they include something, but it ends up being a very small quantity of what almost looks like garnish. The food quality is decent, but the quantity of food for the price is just ok. The hummus and pretzels are both consistently very good. Now for the service. As others are saying, I think they need some training. When they first opened they were all friendly and upbeat. After being open only a month, they seem indifferent as a group. There are a few who actually come across as friendly and do their jobs well. But more recently they have been slower to visit the tables and do not seem as interested in customer service as they should be. I can understand when it is busy, but there is no excuse when the restaurant is only half filled. Maybe they were promised more when they first opened and reality is setting in. I don't know what it is, that is not my business, but asking simple things like how the meal was and being knowlegeable on the beers and food goes a long way. Will I be back? Yes, way more often than I should, but more for the beer and less often for a meal. And I will keep updating if anything changes. Hopefully things will change for the better. read more

Took some folks from my office there today. Food was not bad, actually burger was good. Hands down the worst service I have ever had. Somehow in my mind, that makes the food not taste as good! I also ordered the beer cheese cabbage soup. I didn't like it, but that's ok, I ordered it. I tried 2 spoons and placed it in middle of table (where it sat until end of meal) No questions like "you didn't like it? or was it cold?" No drinks were refilled until ours had been empty for a while. We had to request and then the old glasses stayed on table with new drinks! I should have known (but it was my first time there) I asked for specials, at which point we were pointed to "look" at the small piece of paper with specials. Not impressed. read more

We stopped here for late night food because it was the only place open. The service was friendly, the bar was clean, and there were plenty of large screens to watch the game. The food was atrocious. I ordered the hot & spicy fry pile, and it tasted like some kid made it with shredded Kraft cheese, mayonnaise, and Tabasco sauce in his dorm room. I've been to this place twice since they opened. There are Pros and cons as usual. To start, the service was ok, the inside decor was fine, the food was par for the course but not incredible, and the bathrooms were clean. I have several complaints, however. First impressions are everything, and my first impression took place on a brisk clear night. I walked in, and thought, " Why not try out the outdoor seating." So we walked in through the bar and back out to the patio. It was a closed in patio and all the clear rubber windows were down and fastened. Upon entering the defined space, It smelt like someone who was trying to suffocate your face with a plastic grocery bag full of farts and a dirty day old vaginal stank brisket. Instantly my sympathetic nervous system kicked in and I, along with the other members of my party, asked to go back inside. "Phew that was close." Otherwise, the night went well and was pretty low key for a Saturday night. We enjoyed our food but Two Stones needs to wake up and smell the beer as far as outdoor seating goes. All in all, it was ok. But no better way to end the night than by having someone bring out the vacuum right next to your table-- message received. read more

Just wish the food was more consistent. I normally go to my usual but its never the same whenever we come here. Some dishes are too bold with the flavors and how they are prepared, some of the combination of platters makes my taste buds fight each othet. Our experience has got worse everytime we come in. I will admit I am not a beer drinker, that is ok because I love the food. So when I go to Two Stones I am the DD, not a problem and for the beer drinkers I know they are thrilled to have a Two Stones near us. I love the fish tacos, which they make grilled for me instead of fried at my request. The nachos are great and the salads are creative and fresh. We've been fans since they first opened in Newark and I think this is a great addition to the Hockessin/Pike Creek area. I am not sure what the problem with the service was with some of the reviews, perhaps some new people were training. We have always had excellent service at this location since it opened. read more

First and last visit to this location. Have eaten at other locations and food has always been great. Ordered a large southwestern salad to go and waited at the bar for it. Someone came out from the kitchen with a bag asking who ordered a small southwestern salad. I told them I ordered a large and she asked the bartender if it was a large or small salad in the bag. Without opening the bag the bartender said it was a large. I gave her a $50.00 bill and while she was getting my change everyone at the bar was joking about how the salad suddenly turned into a large from a small. Bartender came back and gave me $12.00 change. Large salad price should've been $11.95. Overcharged by $26.00. She did acknowledge her mistake and have me the correct change when I told her. I put a tip on the bar and left. Needless to say when we opened the salad at home it was not a large salad. It was good but too much drama and overcharged for a wrong size salad. Have gone here several times since they opened. Every time we've had good service! Their staff works as a team and brings your food/drinks out as soon as they are ready instead of letting them sit and wait there until "our" server can serve them to us. I'm not a huge beer drinker but have been trying different things since we've been going and have liked many of them. I also think their menu (while certainly not the healthiest) is interesting and their specials are even more so! I have tried the loaded nachos, roast beef sandwich and mussels and all have been great! So keep up the good work and good luck to you guys! read more

Mehhh. I used to love this place when they had a decent black bean veggie burger, but now it's a carrot beet burger which sounds kinda odd. Their menu is just too small and not very vegetarian friendly (although they do try) I do like the nachos here and fries, but that's about it. The salads seem really boring (the sante fe salad has like 3 things on it.. beans, cheese, tortilla strips) I think if you're going to charge $12 for a salad there should be more things in it.. and also the prices here for things are not justified for the amount or quality of food you get. I like the atmosphere and the location because it's close to home, but I think there are better places around. read more

Woman at next table couldn't eat sandwich because of hot sauce not indicated on menu. I had the fish&chips (which I assumed would be good at a place that specializes in pub food). Lots of fries and very little fish. The fish they did serve was mostly batter and very greasy. We came here with the bf's family for his birthday. This was my first time at the Hockessin location. Love the Newark location and the food so had high hopes. There were 6 adults and 2 kids so they seated us in the patio section was worked out very well. The waiter was very patient and a great one too. First we ordered the blue cheese kettle chips which are one of my fav's at the other location. They were good but cold. No warmness what so over. And they came out fast so don't think they were sitting there long. Thinking maybe the hot table in kitchen was down or something? The bf got tacos. Very expensive for 2 tacos. The tacos themselves were good but once again cold. I ordered the bbq special which was a ton of food and decent. I also tried a bite of the fish and chips which were really good and still hot after they were out for at least 15 minutes. Maybe we were just there on an off night but the best part of this dinner was the waiter and the 1.00 canned beer specials. read more
