Came sat at 530 easy parking as it was early, free parking which is a nice break from paying in downtown wc. Shared the Brussels, corn, tostadas and Salsa and the chicken mole negro. I liked them all I would those again. I would not get the pisco sour I had, it was too sweet. The service was pretty good, no real issues there. Had a pleasant time and will be back again based on good food and easy parking. Cost was about 115$ for the 2 of us, we got 3 alcohol bevs. Overall good experience! read more

This is the second time we've visited this restaurant, and it was terrible. The service was very cold; the waitress was timid and unprofessional. In our opinion, the welcome you receive should whet your appetite and make you feel truly welcomed! Furthermore, the food was cold--my tacos had tough, cold, and flavorless meat. My partner's dish was all jumbled together; it was supposed to come with guacamole--we asked about it, and it turned out to be buried underneath, but the waitress claimed it was just a sauce. I didn't like it at all, and it is actually quite expensive. I do not recommend this place whatsoever--starting right from the moment of arrival. You really need to find staff members who show enthusiasm, cheerfulness, and a welcoming spirit, because when you go out to spend your hard-earned money, you expect to receive good service. read more

The best Mexican food I've ever had - rated one of the best restaurants in the Bay Area for a reason! They seem to specialize in seafood and mezcal, with good reason. The seafood is very fresh and the flavors, unusual and unique, are perfectly balanced. I found the food here not that expensive for the quality. Coming here for patio vibes is a good enough reason. Though there can be small flies, bees and very large ants, the shaded patio is very relaxing when it's not busy. 3 hours here passed by like it was 1 hour. They have an extensive mezcal menu but no cocktail options outside of mezcal/tequila. However, you can request any kind of mix at the bar. read more

I was with some friends and their family to watch the football game this past Monday. It was my first time here, but they recommended to eat at this place. They have been here before, and they informed me the food here was great. Passion Fruit Margarita. We ordered a pitcher to share with our group of 4. The servings I would say would be about maybe 8, if you pour to the half way margin on the serving glass. Overall, it was a nice refreshing drink. I tried with the spice part of the glass, but I was not a huge fan of it. Still, a delicious drink to complement the meal. Steak Nachos. This was an order that we shared. The chips are really big and you can put a lot of the toppings onto one chip. The beans were good, as well as the steak and cheese. Overall, I like this as a started for any meal. Chicano Burger. This is the only entree item on their special MNF menu. But I will say, it is one delicious burger. It was cooked perfectly for me and the addition of jalapenos in the burger added the kick I wanted. It was not too salty nor was the meat dry. The chips were also delicious and plentiful to go with the burger. They were not too salty either. I highly recommend this burger. Overall, I had a great experience here. Excluding all the acorns that kept falling on top of the metal sheet where we sat outside (numerous times I kept thinking it was a different sound instead), I can see myself coming back here again. Third time visiting and this place is wonderful. Our server each time has been Angel, and he is outstanding. Oysters are always fresh and delicious and the margaritas and cocktails are terrific. Food is great, as is atmosphere. If I had to nitpick I might say a little noisy when it's busy, BUT there is a heated deck area which I am sure is more chill. Will keep returning for sure. read more

This place used to be one of my absolute favorites, but the recent ownership change has completely taken the magic out of it. The Caesar salad used to be incredible -- it had a unique, creamy dressing that tasted like it had avocado blended in, topped with Mexican grated cheese, fresh tomatoes, and tortilla chips. It was flavorful, fresh, and unlike any Caesar salad I've had anywhere else. Now? It's just a basic Caesar salad, with a completely different dressing that tastes generic and flat. Definitely not worth $15. I asked the manager about it, and they told me it had been changed to the Poblano salad -- but when I ordered that, it wasn't the same at all. Totally different taste, and nowhere near as good. They also removed the duck tacos, which were another standout. Rich flavor, perfectly balanced, and one of the main reasons I kept coming back. It's really disappointing to see such a great place lose its charm. I miss the old menu and the creativity that used to set this place apart. read more

We met at T'zunan for happy hour, and it was terrific! Gabriel was behind the bar mixing fantastic drinks and taking excellent care of us. I enjoyed the Pear Pressure, Tequila, Spiced Pear St. George, Lime, and Agave. Courtney loved the tamarind mezcal-rita, and Tom enjoyed two La Granadas. We asked Gabriel to recommend some popular happy hour food choices, and we were not disappointed. The steak nachos were wonderful. The steak was well seasoned, perfect with black beans, cheese, jalapenos, pickled onions, and crema. The Mexican Street corn was so yummy, and the presentation was great. Another great vegetarian option was the potato taquitos; the potato was so creamy it was perfect with the crunch of the corn tortilla. The poblano mac n' cheese was amazing! It was creamy, rich, and delicious! It's only available on Mezcal Mondays. Last but certainly not least were the poblano chorizo mussels; OMG, give me the broth and bread, and I'm in heaven! Everything was delicious, and Gabriel was awesome. I even got to meet his lovely mom, Martha, who is usually in the kitchen chefing up some delicious eats. Happy Hour (M-Th 3-6, Fri 3-5) offers a great way to try many reasonably priced dishes. They also offer Mezcal Mondays from 3-9 with Mezcal drink specials and extended Happy Hour food specials. They have all-day Taco Tuesday specials, too! Did you know they offer brunch on the weekends (menu included)? I'll be returning to try it next. T'zunan offers indoor and outdoor dining (it's a beautiful restaurant with a lovely patio space). The menu has really grown over the last year, and I'm looking forward to working my way around it. We started the meal with roasted Brussels sprouts which were more soggy than roasted and too sweet for our liking. We wanted to like this more but we felt like the food was good, not great and the service was a bit lacking. I ordered the rib eye steak and was hoping for better. The quality of the meat was just average and the avocado mousse sounded better than it actually tasted. The most flavorful part of this dish sadly was the Charro beans. We also ordered the Cochinita Pibil which is pork cooked in banana leaves in an Achiota paste. Salty was what I came away with. The best thing that we ordered was the Mexican cornbread which was shaped like a cake and topped with vanilla ice cream and a fruit compote. The Guava creme brûlée was underwhelming and tasted more line banana. This is such a cool restaurant in such an unexpected location. I went to check out the happy hour menu that has a variety of both drinks and bites. Upon arrival I found out it was Mezcal Monday; an offering of Mezcal cocktails by the pitcher or glass. The bartender was a sweetheart and suggested the Mezcal Paloma which was delicious. I ordered the corn ribs and quesadilla to nibble on. The corn was my favorite. The street style corn was flavorful and charred to perfection. This spot is also influencer friendly with lots of photo opportunities. There is a lovely patio area in back overlooking a creek and an area at the entrance with neon signage. The only place I know that my compete is a little New Mexican restaurant in Albuquerque. I can tell you this is the best Mexican. I don't even know to call it Mexican cause it's it's a step above that this is gourmet Mexican food. I have eaten Spanish Mexican whatever you call it food all over the world and I'm telling you straight up not lying. This is the best food I've ever had. The mole was not like anything I've ever had come here if you're anywhere. For me if you're anywhere near this place, I can tell you every single piece of food comes from grandma's kitchen and Molly was her grandmas kitchen and my mom. My grandma couldn't even touch this if you want the best Mexican food you've ever had come here. In fact, my grandma used to make mole would be jealous. This is the best movie I've ever eaten. But after my recent visit with the new owners, I have to say... we are a little disappointed. First off, the service was noticeably slower. We waited what felt like forever to get our order, and when the food finally arrived, it was wrong. I wasn't in the mood for another round of waiting, so I just kept it--but it wasn't great --- super spicy and lacked flavor. The food was pretty lackluster and didn't have the same taste it used to. And don't even get me started on the drinks. Those Palomas I used to rave about? Yeah, they were nowhere near as good. I'm hoping this is just a temporary as they settle in, but I really miss the old vibe. Definitely not the experience I was used to. I ordered the shrimp ceviche and ahi tuna Agua Chile for appetizers and oh my gosh, they were packed with mouth-watering flavors and had a good kick to it! For entree, I got the duck tacos, the meat was soo tender and juicy and they did not disappoint! For dessert, I got churros which surprised me with a side of chocolate mezcal dipping sauce wow! What a little gem, tucked away in a shopping center. I forgot to photograph the patio, but that's definitely the highlight. We came for weekend bunch and that patio is just the right vibe... surrounded by trees and it's covered so it's shaded and just the perfect temp on a warm sunny day. Birria tacos- 7/10 only 2 per plate, nothing else but the tacos and stew included Posole: 8/10 good taste, was a little lite on the salt but good taste and salsa. The outside deck is really lovely because there are lots of beautiful trees, it's near a creek, and they have a lot of fantastic artwork. The native hummingbirds are a big plus. Everything is presented beautifully, however, the food left me a bit disappointed to be honest. I am planning to go back to try again though. Maybe it was just an off night. I tried 4 different dishes and none stood out. The ceviche was very bland and expensive. I tried everyone's cocktails and they were quite good. A bit too sweet for me, but overall tasty. The lady who seated us was a bit unpleasant, not the end of the world, but definitely not a nice vibe to be spreading (especially when it looked like people were there to celebrate diff things). I think if someone is like that they can do a different job in the restaurant that day (or overall if that's what they are like). The restaurant itself is quite nice and has a cute outdoor patio-2 large TVs for those that like that. It is a pricy place, I just hope they step it up with the food. read more

All great experience. The food was pretty good but not incredible. I definitely go back even though I feel like it's a bit overpriced. They have a beautiful bar with lots of fresh ingredients for the drinks which I like. the mushroom tacos are pretty good overall but I think it would be kind of cool if they used a variety of mushrooms not just the cheapest of them all which is the Cini mushroom. Their corn ribs were perfectly seasoned and flavored. I can't wait to have those again. The corn and cheese empanadas were OK. I would try them again just to make sure it's consistent. Maybe they'd be better a second time around who knows they seemed a little dry and over flowered and somewhat dull flavor could add some spice or something to it. I don't know . And I also mentioned that the menu could need at least one or two more vegetarian options and I'd be coming back a lot more often as vegetarian dishes are kind of taking off . T'zunun was a lovely new restaurant to try in Pleasant Hill! There is not a lot of parking in this area and there are many shops, so arrive a bit early or try to find street parking. This spot is on the corner of a very busy street and close to the Arco gas station. We had no trouble finding it and it is conveniently close to other shops if you are running errands. The decor is beautiful in this restaurant! The outdoor patio is beautiful as well and creates a great ambiance. The only downfall of the inside seating is the unique chairs and tables are not very accessible. The legs of the table make it difficult to sit in as they angle inward as well as the chairs limiting size by having arms that wrap all the way around. Bulky chairs but not enough room for larger sized guests. The food here was very tasty for their weekend brunch. Their chilaquiles was super flavorful and had both roja (red) and verde (green) sauces. It said it would come with beans, but I could not taste or see any beans in this dish. This made it unbalanced as the beans usually help provide foundation for the chilaquiles flavors to all come together and not be overpowering. Needed those frijoles! Otherwise, this was a filling and tasty dish. The tostadas were super crunchy and the side of carne asada was so flavorful and cooked to perfection! I highly suggest ordering some as a side if you are a meat eater. The beans on the tostadas were barely there and got lost in the meal, more frijoles please! Still the flavor was there. The Paloma and mimosas were delicious and their bar skills are excellent! Definitely coming back to try the mezcal flights! The service was excellent on a Saturday late morning and was almost empty. I believe the word is just getting out for this restaurant and we were lucky to have a quieter space for brunch. Overall, T'zunun is new and feels like they are still testing things out and finding their rhythm. Their food is great and just needs some fine tuning as well as the accessibility in their seating. Tzunun is located in the shopping center across from Ming's Chinese restaurant, and the same shopping center where Dickie's BBQ used to be. This location before was a diner of some sort, but I'm blanking on what that is at the moment, but I digress. Tzunun offers a Mexican cuisine gastropub style of experience. It has 3 seating areas that I'll talk about. The bar area which is in the front (very loud when it's packed), the main dining room area (tall ceilings, spreads the sound out better), and then the outdoor patio dining (separated out with windows and such from the main dining room). Depending on the experience you're looking for, certainly have them make a note of where you want to sit when you make reservations, although, they don't take reservations for the patio area, so just a heads up. Pricing wise, it's about on par for other gastropub style places like this. However, the portion wise for some of the stuff is hit or miss, which I'll talk about later. The service here is hit or miss. I've been here when they've been busy, and I've been here when they haven't. When they've been busy, it took awhile for the food to come out, it was hard to flag down waiters as they won't come by the table on their own when they're busy, and overall just wasn't a very warm experience with the service. When they weren't as busy, it was very attentive, servers were great, and food came out in a good time. I'll have to go back again when they're busy to see if it's just when they're busy that the service struggles a bit, but I also don't at the same time, if you know what I mean. Food here is great for the most part. I actually don't like some of their tapas/small eats kinds of dishes as much as I feel they are pandering towards a specific crowd that doesn't appeal to me when I'm there for a nice meal. First, the tacos are so-so. While they taste great, there's just not enough portion of meat on them to justify the cost for what I got. They were good, but compared to their typical dishes, didn't feel as worth it. Some of the actual dishes are quite nice, and well-worth the value. The Arroz a la Tumbada was quite nice. You get a lot of ingredients in there, and not just the flavoring ones, but also the amount of seafood they put in there with the rice, totally makes it worth the value. It can probably feed a couple of people on its own, so something to consider. It is quite spicy though, so keep this in mind for those who can't do spicy as well. The Surf'n'Turf is fantastic. It's a pepper stuffed with crab meat (real crab meat), and slices of steak under it. The pepper wasn't quite as spicy the first time I got it, but was super spicy the second time, so again, spicy eaters just beware. When I say they stuff the pepper with crab, they STUFF the pepper with crab. Other places that offer something similar would certainly pale in comparison, so for crab eaters, you will get your money's worth with this pepper. The steak was also cooked to perfection of how I wanted it. It's so tender and juicy, and that sauce it comes with that you can smear each piece with was wonderful. Not quite the surf'n'turf that most people would be familiar with, but I'm more than happy to go with this version. The appetizers and desserts here are also kind of a let down, especially for the price, so nothing I would necessarily recommend as I've tried several items on this menu already. Tzunun offers a great dining experience most of the time, and the food here from the entree perspective have been delicious. Probably more like 3.5 stars than 4 stars. The pricing isn't too bad compared to other gastropub style places in the areas a bit aways, but still considered in the area. There are lots of hits and misses with everything else that wasn't an actual entree that wasn't just a tapas/street food style of dish. Will be back again in the future to try out some of their other regular dishes. read more

Stopped by here for dinner with a friend and we sat outside. The ambience in this location is really nice, perfect for a place to meet up with your friends and everything is aesthetically pleasing. The service was really good. The servers were attentive and always checked in with us. I ordered the Cantarito to drink, Pulpo Tostadas for dinner and guac and chips for the table. The guac was okay, I wish there was a bit more flavor to it, was a bit bland. The Cantarito although it's a cute looking drink, it had a very mild citrus taste to it, thought it would be a bit more tangy with the lime, orange and grapefruit in it. We started with appetizers - Tlayuda and Guac & Chips (no photo), I had the Pulpo A Las Brasas (octopus) and she had the Tacos Hongos (wild mushrooms). Everything was really tasty, although the octopus was a little chewier then I like. Service was good if a little slow. My one issue is how noisy it got, really hard to have a conversation at the level it got to, and the restaurant wasn't full. Definitely going back to try other items on the menu, but will ask for a quieter area, if possible. read more

Everything was executed to perfection. This isn't a fast, cheap tacqueria, this is an upscale Mexican restaurant that hits its marks. Super flavorful sauces combined with homemade from scratch tortillas made these the best tacos I've had in 2022. The lobster was cooked perfectly, the duck confit was tender and flavorful. Did I mention the made from scratch tortillas? I haven't had tortillas this good since I was wandering the Yucatan peninsula. They had fresh Kusshi oysters with this super umami chili sauce that brought out the flavor. Variety of Mescal based cocktails. Definitely recommend this spot if you want something different than your typical tacqueria. read more
