This is a large store and fully stocked with merchandise. I was looking for the newly released shades of lipstick Most of the stores I went to were sold out. This location did not let me down. I didn't come when they had the sale on all of the other shades of lipstick. I also needed to replace my bottle of WOW hair heat protection. I was able to purchase both items and not stand in a long line nor pay for parking at this location. The parking is free and easy. The coupons are a great savings. Don't forget to use your points.

Souna is the best!!! You can tell she genuinely loves what she does because she's a perfectionist in her art on top of being incredibly kind and thorough. Thankful to have found her @ Ulta, MdR because I can finally count on a hairstylist that listens and makes sure you're happy with your end result.

    The manager

I have truly never had such an upsetting experience at any establishment. I needed to return an online order because the item, which was a gift, arrived broken. Since the store did not have the item in stock, I was told they could not process the return and could only issue a refund to the original purchaser. When I asked to speak to a manager, I later found out that all associates are referred to as "managers." The head manager, Kandy (whose name I only noticed later), told me I was "full of hate" and refused to assist me. I now realize the reason for this reaction was that I mistakenly referred to Kandy as "he." Kandy had a beard, and I had no indication that this was not the correct pronoun. While I understand the importance of respecting everyone's identity, I am disappointed that a large company would allow an employee to speak to a customer in such a manner. I approached the situation with no ill intent, and instead of handling the misunderstanding professionally, I was met with hostility and denied assistance for a legitimate issue. I hope this concern is addressed to ensure that all customers are treated with respect and professionalism in the future.

Popped in to buy some travel-sized skincare products. I feel like their travel sized section which is right by the cashier has grown which is very convenient. I prefer buying the smaller version of new products before investing in a full size. The store is bright, clean and not too crowded. I was able to find most of the things I was looking for but a couple were sold out. The employees were nice to check on inventory for the sold out items.

    Terrible highlight job

I have been going to Ulta salons for over 3 years. This was my first time getting a "partial highlight" done at this location. Beware. You are just a number here. Every stylist here I see is trying to get everyone in and out like an assembly line. Worst part is that my highlight job was awful from the experience to the results. As you can see in the photo, the stylist (Maria C.) left an entire chunk out in the front of my hair! Are you serious? Not to mention at the beginning of the appointment she only pulled back only a mohawk portion to highlight. Never have I ever only had that portion highlighted for a partial highlight with my past experience with Ulta. Descriptions are stated the exact same when booking at other locations. The manager came over and they stated that this is their policy and only framing the face as well. Guess what, Nothing was highlighted around my face either. So now I have a chunk missing highlight in the front, and when I pull my hair up, nothing is lightened on the sides of my face. A partial highlight is for "Coverage for approximately half of the head"-nope not at this location. This was the biggest waste of money. I was never offered any water, and I was uncomfortable in the washing chair. Never offered a stool to support my feet as I was sliding down. As soon as I saw the results post wash, I left. Couldn't stand the results or the terrible customer service any longer. Waste of money and now I have to get it corrected. Did not meet my standards. Absolutely no excuse for this terrible highlight job, the photo speaks for itself. Update: Guest services at this location reached out to me and listened to my concerns. She reassured me that I was in fact correct and the team was educated/corrected. Caesar the district educator ended up fixing my hair. Unfortunate I had to come in and spend more of my time here but at least it was corrected. I truly hope the stylists have learned from this experience. I still will no longer come back to this location due to quality of the stylists and mistrust. Overall unfortunate situation.

The sales associates are very kind and helpful, but the managers are rude, rushed and very self important.

Maneki Neko also operates a sister concept store called CATCH Little Tokyo located on the third floor of Japanese Village Plaza. [Parking]: As long as there are no special events in Little Tokyo, the Aiso Parking Garage (101 Judge John Aiso St) is your best bet. [Selection]: The shop has transitioned from primarily selling traditional decor / ceramics / cosmetics (which the shop still carries but in a smaller section) to focusing mainly on plushies and blind boxes featuring IPs like Sanrio, Pokémon, and other Japanese anime. Even though an officially licensed Sanrio store is located next door, Maneki Neko still has an excellent selection of Sanrio items that you can't find at the next-door licensed Sanrio store. [Conclusion]: This is one of those shops where I can probably find a Sanrio plush that I am willing to buy as a gift. It is a perfect example of a thriving shop that has learned to adapt by keeping up with changing consumer tastes.

The shop itself is on the smaller side, but they really pack a lot into the space. They carry a little bit of everything from snacks and blind boxes to household items and stationery. There's also a huge selection of Sanrio and anime merchandise, so it's a great place to find cute collectibles or small gifts. Whether you're shopping for yourself or looking for something fun for someone else, chances are you'll walk out with something. The staff has always been friendly during my visits, and while the store can get pretty busy at times, the overall experience is still enjoyable. Prices are fairly decent for the area which is definitely a plus. If you happen to be in Little Tokyo and enjoy browsing cute or quirky shops, I'd definitely recommend stopping by--it's worth the visit!

Every time I come here I always end up spending a couple hundred for big hauls because I want everything haha, but prices aren't bad at all. This last time I got a free diffuser as a gift with purchase! They also suggested buying these Japanese cough drops since I was headed to a concert (which - good looking out! was absolutely needed and helpful). They even checked the ingredients in Japanese to make sure that I wouldn't have any allergic reactions which was so sweet! Service has been consistently great every time that I've visited here. This last time I went was super early on a weekday though, so wasn't busy at all. It was shortly after they opened because I happened to have an appointment in the area and needed some beauty products for a trip. They were great with answering all of my beauty questions! The only con may be parking when it's busy or later in the day. I've tried coming here at night before but struggled to find parking when the lot was full and there weren't any spots on the street nearby. So definitely try to plan to come earlier in the day/when it's less busy.

However, I believe there is room for improvement when it comes to customer service. On multiple visits, I've noticed that one employee, who regularly wears a face mask, appears to follow me throughout the store while checking what is in my shopping basket. At first, I assumed it was a coincidence, but during my most recent visit, my friend noticed the same behavior. Being closely watched while shopping creates an uncomfortable experience and makes it difficult to browse at ease. As a person of color, this interaction was particularly unsettling. I hope management takes this feedback into consideration so all customers can feel welcomed and comfortable while shopping.

We were interested in stopping because it was our first time there and wanted to see it, however, we only had approximately one hour to explore. The shopping center wasn't too busy yet since it was so early, but also most all of the stores were closed as well. We did not get the complete experience of everything that this mall offers. A couple of bakeries were open when we visited and I am glad that we stopped! They allowed us to get some sweet treats and pastries, and they actually became one of the highlights of our trip to Little Tokyo! Although some of the stores weren't opened yet, it was great just to explore the area! All of the storefronts at the mall and surrounding Plaza were decorated for the holiday season. This brought an extra layer of charm to the shopping trip and helped create a cozy, festive ambiance! The quietness of the early morning hours created a amazing environment for us to walk through and enjoy our short little excursion to this beautiful shopping center! Although my visit was brief, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I would love to go back again, but next time during afternoon or evening hours when all the shops are open so I can finally see everything the Little Tokyo Mall has to offer!

I've seen Anime Jungle evolve and take over the entirety of the underground mall area. RIP to Fairytale Boutique, Fickle Wish, Xenon, and the day and age where Anime Jungle had their own dedicated shop for visual kei and J-rock. Never forget what you've lost. Other businesses have come and gone, like the mochi ice cream place. If you ever get mochi ice cream at the supermarket, it's likely from them and the macaron place that I loved, but alas, tis the world we live in. Other than the Anime Jungle that I go to and Little Akihabara LA for their pop ups and events, I also go to Monkey Pants, sometimes I swing into the Sanrio shop (they usually do the character meet and greets here, if not at JapanLA or somewhere egregiously far), Tokyo Japanese Lifestyle (they got staff POSTED there due to the thefts I'm sure, but I've gotten my bearded dragon keychain here and now I have them in all sizes), Catch (located on the 3rd floor and is MASSIVE for blind boxes and other goods), Neko Stop (I've gotten better deals here than the location in the Santa Anita Mall), and I've stopped in the Nijiya when I've been trapped there to get snacks or some bottled tea. Love the bakery there and the meat buns that they have (despite prices constantly rising due to the capitalist hellscape we live in) and the cafe to get affordable savory dango and takoyaki. The okonomiyaki place is one of the best, if not only places to get okonomiyaki at a place dedicated to the dish. Once in awhile they do a collab with multiple restaurants, not just at the mall too, such as Silent Hill F, Reincarnated into a Slime, during AX, Arknights, etc. Really drives the crowds and businesses here which is nice. Parking at the structure is a bit pricy and can get super fisted with bad drivers though, so keep that in mind.
