I'm giving the store five stars because the ultimate result from my visit was a five star experience I've been frustrated when I've been walking around at least eight aisles and I couldn't find one employee. I finally went up to the registers and asked for help. I'm guessing they might be shortstaffed, but Camille came over and Camille deserves a raise Unlike at Sephora, where they immediately come up and want to help you because they are required to so that you use their name at the register not so they get commission so that their employer knows they're working, but are they really working? They quickly come up try to shove product at you And walk away. Camille was not such an employee. She spent over 30 minutes with me turning her arm into a pallet, helping me with concealer, tinted, cover up sunscreen and full coverage. I was dressed nicely, carrying a small clutch with a shoulder strap (which was far too small to conceal merchandise and the only reason I bring it up), and wearing nice jewelry after going to brunch. Despite that, one employee with short red hair seemed to follow me around the store while paying far more attention to me than to a group of blonde teenagers who were laughing and hanging around the travel-size section. I was smelling perfumes for an upcoming birthday. While I was still shopping in the isles she immediately offered to ring me up after following me throughout the store right then and there since I had two full size perfumes and a full size face cream...which again wearing what I was there was zero way I could take it, which only reinforced the feeling that I was being watched. To make matters worse, when I pointed out the half-off yellow sticker signage, she dismissed it with "Nope, it's that price," without even taking the time to read the sign, or to check the other prices. I've shopped at the Cupertino, Campbell, and Morgan Hill locations and have never been treated this way. In fact Cupertino is close to a therapy center for special needs children so I have gone there messy bun and eyes red from emotional days and was always treated so kindly and that store carries chanel. The difference in how I was treated at this store left me feeling profiled. Shopping to decompress shouldn't mean being viewed with suspicion and asked to be checked out before you are done shopping. After reading others reviews this seems to be a common issue. This area is pretty heavily POC so if she feels uncomfortable working with diverse looking clients she needs to work at another location or in the back. Reported it to Corporate for training. If someone is clearly there to shop and spend money, they deserve to be treated with the same respect as every other customer. Unfortunately, I won't be returning to this location. read more

I dropped by today around 11 am to pick up some shampoo. There was plenty of parking, and the store was pretty much empty. I only saw one other customer and one staff member at the register. After helping the other customer, the staff member turned away from me. She seemed to be using the mobile check-in device for pick-up. After standing there for a bit, she finally said, "I'll be right with you." She eventually turned around and asked what I needed. I showed her my pick-up barcode, and she asked if I had my ID. I pulled it out. Then she grabbed my shampoo, opened the bag, asked me to double-check everything was there, and I left. I might be a bit spoiled by the friendly service at Cupertino Ulta, but I didn't have a great experience and don't think I'll be back. Customer service is so important! A simple greeting and acknowledgment right away can make a huge difference. read more

I walked in and there was an employee at the front entrance and asked if there was someone who could help me with concealer. The employee asked another employee to help me. I immediately noticed her whole body and face change in dismay. I asked her about Tula concealer. She said she wasn't familiar with it. But she didn't just state this in an informative way, it was with an attitude. It was obvious she was begrudgingly trying to help. She directed me to the Tula concealers and handed me the tester. I asked if she could help me with applying it. I've had nothing but great experiences with employees kindly helping me at other stores. It was my first time at this particular location. She seemed annoyed and took me to a "station" to help me. I decided I didn't want to feel bad about asking for her help anymore because she has plenty of time to change her attitude. I asked her if she could have someone else help me and she immediately asked me "why" with a sarcastic tone. I politely told her I didn't felt like she was not really willing to help me. I felt like we weren't really working well together. My boyfriend was with me and he's not one to say much about these things but he sure did agree about this situation. He was glad to see I wasn't going to stand for this kind of treatment. Her name is Angelina and she finally did go and get someone else. The sales manager, Samara, was so pleasant. She was very friendly and helpful and even offered a different suggestion after having explained what I was looking for in a concealer. I love that. Went back to her (Erica) a couple times because it's so hard for me to find a hairstylist I can trust and that will listen to me. Most recently I could tell she was in a rush because she didn't want to blow out my hair like usual; started to get a bad feeling. Should have trusted it and got up. She completely botched my bangs and had to get them fixed afterward. She cut them terribly short and angles were way crooked, she kept going out it in an attempt to "fix it" sickened me to my stomach. She couldn't even style it in the moment and let me walk out the salon looking crazy. Wanted to cry. will never go back to her. She broke my trust the moment she made me feel like a chore even though she had 2 hours before she "had" to leave. Terrible service read more

I had a very negative experience at this location. I purchased a product that turned out to be defective: the cap melted, and since it's an alcohol-based product, it largely evaporated. When I tried to return it and clearly showed that it was damaged, they refused to accept it. Furthermore, the service from the girl who helped me was appalling: unprofessional, unwilling to help, and rude. Instead of offering a solution, she simply refused to exchange it, showing no empathy or interest in resolving the issue. I will definitely not shop here again and do not recommend this location for its poor customer service and failure to respond appropriately to a damaged product. Since it's alcohol-based, much of it evaporated, and the cap melted. When I tried to return it, they told me they wouldn't accept it because "it wasn't 75% full," which is absurd considering the damage was obvious. The worst thing was the service: the person who helped me had a very negative energy, was despotic and arrogant, with no intention of helping or offering a solution. I wandered for a bit just looking and found they carry a line of lip gloss & lotion I had only seen on line. That was nice. But, not a single employee approached me to offer help or show new products. This is the closest Ulta to me and every time I shop here Im always getting followed by either clearly an employee or some kind of decoy that I eventually see talking with employees or standing behind the register with them. This review is based on our one visit to this location at El Paseo de Saratoga. Our experience during our visit was fine, and certainly nothing like some of the other negative reviews here. We were able to browse at our leisure and play with the testers displayed. We were aware there was a security guy at the store, but he kept his distance and we never felt we were being watched or followed by him. It's possible we were completely oblivious of the security guy while we were browsing through all the aisles. Plus we picked up their shopping basket which held all the little items we wanted to purchase, so it was clear we were making no attempts to surreptitiously pocket anything. They have friendly and helpful staff here. One walked by and asked if we needed help. We were looking for some foundation for my daughter and weren't sure which shade to get. She steered us to a tinted moisturizer that would be a better choice for my daughter and we found a good shade to match my daughter's skin tone. It's fun browsing through the store. I like how they have a wide range of products, from affordable "drug store" brands to more expensive higher end brands. There is something for everyone's budget. Price signage is very good so you won't get sticker shock when you are checking out. However, the many of the shelves weren't well stocked or were completely out of products (empty). This made finding particular colors challenging. Also some displays were messy and not very organized. Part of this could be from other customers not putting back products back in their correct spot. They have a hair salon at the back of the store, but it didn't seem open at the time we were there (or maybe nobody had an appointment at the time). Parking at this location is no problem at all. The payment machines at checkout weren't fully functional. Many of them had a sign taped to them that said "tap to pay" was not working. I've gotten so used to waving my phone over these payment machines, so was a bit annoyed that I had to dig out my physical credit card. read more

This is my preferred location for Ulta. I have always found what I needed/wanted. The store is spacious. Parking is not a problem at all. My order is ready within 2 hrs to pick up, almost always. There were a couple of issues that I faced, once when I bought a product off the shelf which seemed opened and used, however I was able to return it, they were really quick and efficient about it and even suggested something better instead. The other time, I went there to pick up my order but they couldn't locate it and I spent a lot of time waiting for them to figure out what went wrong. The staff genuinely seemed to be trying to help and eventually fixed the issue. I hope that they resolve these internal issues with used products on the shelf and making sure order pick up is smooth. I have always gotten good recommendations from the staff on the floor. read more

1/31/22 I had the worst, most uncomfortable shopping experience of my life here tonight. I won't be returning to this store or any Ulta location for that matter. ULTA. TRAIN YOUR SECURITY TO NOT HARASS YOUR CUSTOMERS! Seriously. This dude was closely following me & my friend the moment we walked in, like damn, are we the only ones in the store orrr? He first came up to us and asked if we needed help from any of the ladies working, we politely said no. (Also, he was talking so loudly on the phone with someone in his earphone, so unprofessional). He proceeds to follow me into the next aisle, watching my every move. Finally as I'm smelling a f*cking candle, dude comes up to me and quietly says, I quote, "Hey homegirl, you didn't take anything right?" ......... Excuse me? I asked "Did it look like I stole something?!!" And emptied my pockets. "Oh sorry just making sure." Believe me when I said I was PISSED. I was ready to drop a bag in this store but that ruined my entire mood. I went straight to the register, paid for my sh*t and got the hell out of there. How unprofessional, rude and embarrassing. I also noticed the last few times I was here that the woman security was also closely keeping an eye on us and following us the entire time. It's seriously so uncomfy. Always like to coming to this ulta. It's very spacious, the amount of brands they have are good, and mainly the lighting in here is perfect so you can shade match yourself and view it in the mirrors with natural lighting from the outside and lighting from the inside. However, the products they have can either be too much or too little. I don't know if Ulta is receiving less supplies from popular brands because every time I go in on different weeks and dates it's the same amount of products they still have. Overall love coming to this location I am not being bothered by anyone and I am able to look at all of the selections they have. read more

The selection was good. Customer Service bad. One of the sales girl was pretty helpful to set up a brand new tester for me when I mentioned other stores had the tester. Unfortunately the other girl who helped me check out even bothered to give me the qualified gifts even though she knew I qualified. Love this place as it had several sales from BOGO to clearance items at a very reasonable price for great label brand items like SheaMoisture, the Body Shop, etc. I didn't really go there for makeup items, but other cosmetics so I didn't need much customer service in making a decision. Even so, I was approached by staff if I needed any support. Definitely appreciated that. One advice is if you have an Ulta account, check for any in-store or online discount code before you shop! ;-) read more

Service here is non-existent. You can be running around the whole store and still not find any employee to help you. And when you do finally find someone, most of them give attitude. Not to mention, this location has awful inventory. A lot of items are out of stock (definitely try calling to see if they have your item before driving there). It sucks because this is the only Ulta in the area, so I'm excited for whenever the Sephora across the street opens. read more

I brought my two young children to Ulta this morning for a kid's haircut ($30). I have only recently started using Ulta salon but this was my first experience at the Westgate/Saratoga location. Upon check in I asked the lead stylist Brittanie (sp?) if she could dye a strip of color into my childrens' hair. She abruptly said that they didn't have time since a cut was only 30 minutes and I didn't say much in response because the reason Brittanie gave me made sense and was fair - I hadn't booked a color so I didn't press the issue - and figured I would book another appointment later. Immediately after that exchange, my kids sat down and the stylists started combing out their hair. At the salon in Campbell Ulta they wash, cut and blow dry the girls hair but when I asked - the stylist said they could not do all of that because it was a 30 min appointment. Brittanie was extremely rude about it and when I asked why it was included at the Campbell Ulta location and not at this salon she kept on saying "because it's only a 30 min appointment". She must have repeated that statement at least five times in the span of a 3 minute discussion and then I finally pushed back firmly and told her that I understood that it was 30 minutes but was just wondering why it was different at two ulta salons. She rudely said she didn't know and that's - just how "they always did it". The rest of the experience was silent and awkward. And I felt really upset because my girls (age 6 and 9) were so excited about getting their hair done. Everyone sat in silence and despite the Brittanie's meager efforts to rectify her absolutely rude behavior by asking short questions, my 9 year old daughter started crying when we left. Their hair looked decent so I still tipped them 20% but I hope Brittanie uses that money to take some training on customer service and how to handle customers. I'm sure that even a $6 class would result in a vast improvement on her person skills. Clearly kindness and decency in working with the general public are not factors in the certificates of excellence that Ulta posted at her station. Ulta has forever lost a customer and I will never recommend them to my family or friends again. read more

Let's just say my purchase today has been disappointing from the beginning. To top it off, I got home, opened up my Benefit Brow Zings to find that someone had used it and returned it. Gross. Don't the cashiers check that when make up is being returned? I have never had this issue with Ulta before today. I've been shopping with Ulta since 2003, that's 16 years now. No longer do the cashiers ask you if you want to use your points or tell you how many points you have. This location store #492 has gone down hill now for the last 7 years I've been shopping there and to make matters worse the aisles are so cluttered you can barely walk they them. Just overall super disappointing in today shopping experience. I will be heading back to this sloppy store on Tuesday when I have time to get a non-used Brow Zings and hope I have better luck and a nicer cashier. read more

Visited this evening to quickly pick up a specific product. We didn't realize the store was closing within 10 minutes- but as soon as I walked in was ambushed by what I suppose was their "security" letting us know to "be quick since they close soon." Then an associate ran over to me and with aggravation demanded I tell her what we need because they close soon. I let her know I knew what I need, I understand you close soon. (I only needed 1 product & knew exactly where to go) But both of their unwelcoming attitude and rudeness left us leaving the store within the minute without getting to pick up my product. They watched/followed us (my husband and daughter) the entire time we walked to pick my product and back out the door. While as a former Beauty Retail Store Manager of 10 years, I 100% understand wanting to shut down and get out as quickly as possible, but at the same time, the store is still open until your doors lock. And customer service should still be a priority until then. As we walked out of the store the entire team was behind the registers watching us walk out. We weren't even the last customers as we saw people still shopping. Again - I can understand the frustration of wanting to close exactly on time - but if your store doesn't close until 8pm then until 8pm your job is to be AT THE LEAST - friendly to customers. read more

I have been to MANY Ultas in my life. Today (4/3/23) I had an incredibly poor experience. I was attempting to purchase a $7 lip gloss when the cashier DENIED me the ability to purchase it. This cashier DEMANDED that I sign up for a rewards program with either my phone number or my email. I did not want to do that so I told her no, and in return she told be to go buy the lip gloss at target. This cashier was a female with NO name tag working at roughly 3:35.
