    Mango and pomelo sago
    Cynthia C.

The menu here is incredibly extensive, so there's definitely something for everyone here. The inside of the restaurant is really pretty too, dark and sleek with a lot of spacing between each table which is something I prefer. Their mapo tofu has some serious kick to it. I feel like I have a pretty good spice tolerance and I do enjoy the tongue numbing aspect of mala spices, but I was chugging water omg. The stir fried green beans and eggplants is a must for a side. It's sooo flavorful. Finally for a dessert, I tried the mango pomelo sago and it was maybe the highlight of the whole meal. The only thing that was disappointing was that it was a deceivingly small portion as the bowl was actually quite shallow. I'd love to return to try their peking duck or their little pumpkin balls.

Pork belly 2-/ a little bit on the leaner side but the sauce was good Wood ear mushroom salad - very spicy but good Cucumber salad - crunchy and refreshing Beef and tripe salad was - tender and tasty Mapo tofu was delicious and was heavy with the sichuan peppercorn Whole duck - one of the better versions I've had in NYC with crispy skin and a fair amount of meat. The slices are cut fine which helps to eat it in the wraps The green beans were solid. The only miss was the general tso's which was almost like sweet and sour candy. Extreme sweet and sour

I quite like this place, whenever I have time for a sit down meal or time to wait for takeout and am in the mood for fancier/refined Chinese. I do miss their tomato and egg noodle soup dish though! Overhead lighting for photos was perfect. Service is nice. Weekday lunch - the place was almost empty. No high chairs but you can bring your own seat to attach to their chair. I can't do too spicy. Most recent lunch: - Stir Fried Fatty Beef with Cilantro - this was good without spice. Cilantro was an unique combo. - Eggplant with Garlic Sauce - very spicy to me. - Stir Fried Beef & Smoked Tofu - also good without spice. Loved the tofu. - Dan dan noodle - standard. - Soy Milk with Ice Jelly & Mochi - yum!

I love love the salted egg yolk pumpkin pudding. So yummy and unique. Definitely get it if you love salted egg yolk and a crispy exterior and flowy interior. The rest of the food was standard, a little spicy for someone like me who can't handle much spice . The service and ambiance is impeccable, definitely recommend this place!

The Boneless Pork Trotters were pretty good, however the dish was filled with chilis and there wasn't as much meat as I would like. Service was fast. Inside there's good amount of seating and a modern feel.

Peking duck (small), stir fried cabbage with soy sauce

Came here on a thursday evening around 6:40 PM. Despite not having any reservations, we were seated at a table for 2 relatively quickly. The staff were quick to take our orders and refill our waters, and the restaurant had a very classy feel. We ordered a small portion of the peking duck, stir fried cabbage with soy sauce, and one serving of jasmine rice to share, which came out to be about $40 per person. The peking duck, which is one of their most popular dishes, had great flavors and very crispy skin. However, I found the duck to be a little on the dry side. I also prefer to have my duck with steamed buns rather than thin wrappers. The stir fried cabbage was solid and had great spice, which paired well with rice. Be aware that the dishes do not come with rice though, and that you will need to purchase rice separately. Overall, the meal didn't quite meet my expectations based on what I had heard about the restaurant, and I found the prices to be a little steep.

    Lobster Mapo tofu

Waitress was super friendly and happy to give us her recommendations! The restaurant is super pretty and looks ready to accommodate bigger groups too Osmanthus oolong cocktail - lightly sweet and pretty tea forward! Not too floral! Very good 4/5 Tipsy peach - not too sweet and made very deliciously! 4/5 Lobster mapo tofu - one of the best mapo tofu I've had! Tofu is silky, sauce is savory, spicy and the perfect amount of numbing (perfect for me is just a little tingle), the Sichuan flavor, and matches super well with the sweet lobster! Only thing is the lobster I think is slightly overcooked. Also plate looks way bigger than it actually is since it's very shallow 4.25/5 Xiao long bao - broth is very savory and flavorful! Meat is good too, skin is not too thick 3.75/5 Cucumber salad - the seasoning is actually super yummy but the cucumbers are very fresh and not pickled like at all. Not my complaint but my finance complains they removed all the outer skin which takes away from some of the crunch but like still crunchy 3.5/5

Order anything from the menu, it'll probably be solid. That's how good this place is. If you need specific recommendations, highly recommend the string beans, fish in green peppercorn sauce, and stir fried fatty beef in cilantro. Everything is super flavorful here, come hungry and with a big group. Also, most dishes are gluten free (except for the soy sauce so not advisable for celiacs)

Came at 6pm for dinner on a Thursday night. Wasn't too packed but definitely started to pick up as we were sat. Food was so delicious! What we ordered and what I would recommend: Peking duck, spicy chicken fried rice w/ pepper, sauteed pea shoots and crab tofu. Only thing is the food isn't as spicy as I would've thought / liked, but otherwise authentic. The interior is very well-decorated, although the seats were a little uncomfortable + our chairs were too close to the table behind us without much room. Overall great experience + food!

While visiting our daughter in NY, I said I wanted Chinese food and my daughter took me to this restaurant. This one is for mostly young people who don't know what real Cantonese Chinese cuisine is. My daughter's type of crowd and tastes. This place is trendy, the decor is very clean and modern, catering for hip young people who may careless about the tastes. Anyhow, my daughter ordered since she knew what she liked or going to like. This is a very spicy food Chinese restaurant. The spices that make the food so hot that your tongue numbed so you can't taste anything else. Sometimes I wonder how these young people tastes so different. The service is good and attentive, the prices are expensive for little food they serve. The rice is so dry that I had to get a new one because it's like undercooked. So, my daughter ordered the crab tofu, some green beans, eggplant, psycho spicy pepper beef and $17 oolong cocktail. The sauces are actually very tasty but so hot that I couldn't taste anything after the first dish, my daughter started to drink water like crazy, looked like it was her first time here too. All the dishes are very skimpy, small and spicy hot except for the crab tofu which everyone is raving about, eatable nothing to wow about for me. I couldn't wait to go back to the real Chinese restaurant Uncle Lou we had food last time. Different generations, different foods, I just have to be aware about these restaurants, but one thing I know is that if the food burns your tongue, what good is the food since you can't taste the flavors, unless the younger people don't really care about flavors, just hot. Not sure if my daughter would come back here again, for me and my wife, definitely NOT.

We came for dimsum/early lunch on a weekday right when they opened, so there was plenty of seating. We ordered the pumpkin puffs, duck pancake, XLB, dimsum platter, panfried dumplings and a spicy whole fish! Me and my mom can't usually handle spicy but the fish was cooked super well and really tasty. It was less spicy on the underside of the fish for some reason so we were able to enjoy a few bites before it became too hot for us. The rest of our party can handle their spicy and enjoyed it thoroughly! The dimsum was also very good and decently sized. It's definitely not your classic dimsum experience but it was a good "upscale" alternative!

Sichuan Chili fried chicken... Great dish

Was craving Chinese food on a cold April evening and yelped Chinese restaurants when this one popped up. Since I was close to East Village decided to try this highly recommended restaurant. Luckily street parking opened up when I was in that block, parked and walked over to Uluh. This place has a great ambiance. It's dark, romantic and just an overall cool vibe. I was in the mood for something spicy so ordered the Sichuan chili fried chicken along with white rice. The service was prompt and the dish itself was gorgeous, as you can see from the attached picture. The dark lighting probably enhanced the visual and the rest I let it to my taste buds! For those who haven't tried this dish, it's bark is worse than it's bite, so yes it looks super spicy but it really isn't. The chicken was well flavored, crisp yet juicy and the fried chilies added the right warmth to it. The place is much larger than it looks and they do have a private dinning area from larger group, which actually looked like a good place to try. Definitely on my repeat list.

If you don't have a reservation, I'd recommend you come early as there usually seems to be a few tables available for walk ins (weekdays). The ambience is such a vibe, especially during this holiday season where they have a ton of decorations up. But wow am I actually impressed by the food here, the food tasted authentic and supremely spicy. The balance of spices that chef uses here is fantastic and made every dish that we had excellent. Stars of the show for me was the trotters, duck, and mapo tofu. I would highly recommend getting white rice as it pairs perfectly with the numbing and the spice. Service was excellent as they were constantly filling up our waters as we were chugging away due to the spiciness.

I did not expect to find a sit down Cantonese & Sichuan Restaurant in the heart of Herald Square…read more For sure a hidden gem worth trying. Came here with two other friends for dinner and we pigged out. We started off with Scallion Pancake with Shredded Duck ($15), which tasted amazing. The pancake was flaky and not overly soaked in oil, while the duck meat enhanced the taste. I think everything should order this for the table. We also got the Dan Dan Noodles w Minced Pork ($8), which is a staple dish in Sichuan cuisine. Make sure you stir the bowl to mix the sauce and minced pork. For veggies, we got the Sautéed Green Beans With Eggplant ($18), which tasted great. I usually get sautéed pea shoots for a veggie dish, but this was worth ordering as the eggplant tasted great along with the green beans. For entrees, we got the Spicy Green Pepper Fish Filet ($28 for filet). A classic Cantonese dish that comes with bok choy, so it turns out I didn't really need to order a veggie dish. Delicious. We also tried the OOHU Mao Xue Wang ($34), which may be one of the most spiciest dish available on the menu. This dish combines blood curd from a duck, tripe, and chicken gizzards along with other organs into a simmered broth containing chilis and peppercorns. They also use spam, vermicelli noodles, mushroom, and other things. If you're adventurous and you like spicy, I would recommend this. Best eaten with a cup of rice. Service is great as our server made good recommends and was overall friendly. They also have a party room you can book, which sounded pretty affordable.
