Just arrived in Largo tonight and for some reason was craving ramen. A quick yelp search brought me to this little place not too far from my hotel. Reviews were great so I decide to try. Ordered the hot saki and a bowl of ramen. I should have asked for no protein but only assumed if I didn't specify that it would come without. Just not a huge fan of pork. Also, asked for chili oil but they didn't have any...only chili powder. Even with those couple of unexpected item, the ramen was very tasty! Broth was rich with a lot of flavor. Ramen egg seemed to be nothing more than a boiled egg (and a little over cooked). Even though my rating is a 3 (really more of a 3.75) the food was good (I'm just very specific on what I like about my ramen) and service was great. I would probably try the sushi next time. My first time here so I took the recommendation of the Mega Lobster Roll. It was great and very filling. My only negative, and why I gave 4 stars, is due to the length of time it took from ordering to receiving food (50 minutes). However the waiter about 10 minutes after ordering brought us complementary edamame and warned us they were backed up. Very nice of him. I recommend not coming here while you're starving on peek hours (I came at 6:45pm on a Friday). Otherwise I highly recommend and I will definitely come back. read more

I wanted to visit this place when the stream came in from Yelp in hot new businesses. I really wanted to go on a date night but was very glad we tried this place first. It didn't live up to expectations it the hype. We got to this place right at opening. We go in and as we understand we were a couple of the only people in there. However there was no atmosphere, no music, but the hostess was nice. Don't get me wrong. It's a nice place and probably better at night, but I believe first impressions speak volumes. Nonetheless we say and gave it a try. The chair and couches are very comfy. I ordered the Hot Sake was way too hot. I've had hot sake plenty of times but this was terribly hot. Almost scalding hot. Not good at all. Then our sushi came out. I ordered the volcano roll and the ladies had a mango avocado roll. The volcano roll which was supposed to be spicy, had 3 flames by it in the menu which indicated a very spicy dish, was not spicy at all. Not in the little bit. And all the sushi broke up when we grabbed it with our chopsticks. I'm not a sushi chef but I eat plenty of sushi to know that it wasn't rolled tight enough. I think this place has potential. Giving them 5stars! First of, they have great customer service. Too bad I didn't get the name of the lady that waited for us. She was very friendly and accommodating. Umai is a fabulous restaurant! My Dad and I ate there earlier this evening, and our food was so amazingly delicious. I've had a lot of sushi from various places over the years, and I daresay that Umai ranks amongst the best. Thomas was our server, and I found him to be quite enpointe, polite, and gracious. (Hope that he will be our server next visit, as well!). We ordered the shumai (pork dumplings) for our appetizer. Dad had never had shumai before, and he really loved them. I warned him that Umai set the bar pretty high for any future tastings of shumai he might have! I had the Rainbow Roll as my entree, exceptionally delightful! Dad had the Volcano Roll, and he felt that it was better than the same dish at other restaurants. As a finale, we ordered the matcha (green tea) mochi. Dad hadn't tried that before and he liked it, as well. He has kind of a finicky palate, so I was surprised he liked it. I found the mochi to be a delectable and refreshing finish to an amazing meal. He staff was friendly, but silently stood near us in an already quiet restaurant which made it a bit awkward. The music was also not good at all--a selection of new and old pop hits that didn't fit the aesthetic in my opinion. I ordered the chicken ramen, but it ended up being extremely bland. Never had ramen that tasteless before honestly. The boiled egg was good, but the chicken was a bit dry and tasteless as well. The noodles were over cooked and too mushy. I wished there was more kimchi but it probably would have thrown the well balanced soup experience I had off. Super fresh sushi. All the sashimi melted in my mouth. Very buttery fish. I had tuna/escolar/albacore/salmon sashimi and they were all exceptionally fresh. Went here for lunch for the first time finally after a year of living 2 blocks down the street from it. This place was awesome! Small little place with delicious sushi and lunch specials. I got 2 rolls and my fiancé got the steak hibachi lunch and we both liked them a lot! And reasonably priced. We were sitting at the small table closest to the back wall and the only thing I didn't like was how close you sat next to people. The couple sitting next to us was probably 3-4 feet away. You could easily hear their entire conversation and vice versa ours. But you gotta work with the space you got so I don't discount the experience because of it. Service was great. Very friendly and always checked up on us with a big smile. Next time we are craving sushi for lunch we will definitely walk down to this place again. read more

It arrived with 3x more plump, delicious salmon than any roll I've had! Way more salmon than rice. Their Ninja Roll was unique because it contained no sauces except pepper crumbs-- Not the best, but the flavors still worked with the tuna, eel, and shrimp. They have a great selection of sushi rolls that aren't drowning in sauces (which I love). It allowed us to taste the simple deliciousness of the fish. Everything we've had from the Hamachi Kama appetizer (broiled and served beautifully) to their Alaskan, or Umai, or Florida roll were on point. AND A VERY COOL STAFF TOO Normally, really good Asian restaurants don't have the best service, but the servers here have been awesome-- prompt and kind. One visit the sushi chef gave us a complimentary cooked mahi-mahi roll. Another visit, we received sliced fruit at dinner's end.
