Their fresh tortilla chips are bomb.com all the time because you can tell they're cooked in the kitchen and not bagged! The salsa is really good and flavorful. I appreciate that the salsa isn't hot but packs lots of flavor. If you're a big guac fan like me, the table side experience is a must! The guac man comes around and makes it right in front of you...he asks you which fresh ingredients you would like and violaaaaaa! Fresh guacamole yummm yummmm! My chicken enchiladas were soooo good! My dish was was bomb. I normally get the chicken quesadillas but I wanted to try something new and I was really happy. We had a large family and made reservation for 5:30. Our table was neglected for 20 min at least. We finally flagged someone down and they said they were all confused whose table it was ?? Not one person stopped by. We finally got someone and ordered but waited over 20 min just for a drinks. They brought the food out almost same time and was missing several items. We had to flag down waiter each time he painstakingly brought one item at a time. We never were asked or received drink refills. Never asked if we needed anything. We had ordered more drinks from bar and after never got them. This was by far worst service I have ever encountered and for the money we spent it was a huge disappointment. I dont even know we're to begin. My family decide to come here for a birthday dinner I was really excited because i heard some good things about the restaurant. To start off it was a Friday evening so most restaurants are normally busy around that time. We ordered some margaritas which took 20 minutes to arrive to our table. We received our food 10 minutes after that. Someone in our party took a bite of their enchilada and noticed he was chewing a big chuck of plastic. We called the manager and the waitress and basically everyone was just clueless how it got there. They made him a new dinner and took it off the check. Things like that happening is unacceptable he could of choked. The food was mediocre and the service was just as bad. The menu prices are decent, but I probably would never return due to the incident with the plastic being in the food. This place is massive inside but has a great outdoor patio which is great in the cooler months. We came here hungry and left stuffed to the Max. It's a great location also given it's only a few minutes from the Allen outlets. Shop and eat...winner! I've only been here a few times but have to say the Taco Tuesday's is hands down the best deal around. It's only $10 a person and it's more than enough options to feed an army. Comes with beef and chicken, multiple sauces, plenty of toppings. And we're not talking the default lettuce and cheese, they give you the works to give you countless options to create with delicious sauces, corn pick, pickled onions and more. Great company party of 8; bad service, terrible food, very loud music and to make matters worse, we watched a rat or two scurry across the patio. We had to ask another waiter to get our waiter to order food, drinks and refills. When asked about non alcohol drinks, the waiter stated they didn't have anything like that. Also, when questioned about a drink menu, he stated they did not have one and he couldn't recommend anything other than a mojito. The food was bad across the board. How can you mess up crunchy tacos?!?! I ordered the Bacon Wrapped Camarones. While the menu states this to come grilled and stuffed with cheese & served with guac, pico, rice and beans, I received 6 small overcooked shrimp (no flavor) and raw onions and a pepper. That's all. My hub wanted to give this another chace after years of having a bad meal experience. The wait was 30 min on a Saturday... so made me realize that ppl like it. Were sat in the middle of a busy dining room. Took a while to be greeted my server. She was polite but not much happiness in working and serving tables. Ordered drinks that took a while to come back. Their margarita is super tart...not a fan. That tart taste took me back to the prior year that we went for drinks only. Ordered a long island then that was so tart, it was undrinkable. The menu included a limted offer item: bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp $2 each. We ordered 2 Although the shrimp was the best part of the meal/experience, by no means would I call them jumbo. They were medium at best. Ordered 2 cheese and onion enchiladas as my entree with double beans (no rice). Hub ordered a flank steak with 2 cheese enchilada and asked for no onions in the enchiladas. My meal came out with rice in which I had to send back (I have a poultry allergy and most spanish rice is made with chicken broth/stock). It was rushed back out. My enchiladas were missing onions...which was the main reason I ordered cheese and onion enchiladas. I just went ahead and ate it, not wanting to send it back a second time. I am not one to exaggerate but I believe I have just had the best service in recent history. The General Manager Kevin knows the true meaning of hospitality. Our server Alex gave excellent service and recommendations. The table side guac was delicious. My wife said the Quesa Birria is the best she's ever had and the consommé was so flavorful. I believe her exact words were "welcome to flavor town." The entire staff was extremely welcoming and it is evident they all really enjoy their job. My kids and I used to love this place. Not anymore. They have changed so much. They changed the hot sauce, salsa and it's extremely hot now. We walked in and got seated right away! This was our first time here so we weren't sure what to expect. Our waitress was Kate - solid 10/10. She was informative, attentive, and super pleasant! We started with chips and salsa, queso, and fresh tortillas. I wasn't a huge fan of the queso, but that's personal preference. It's definitely in the top ten list of queso I've had. The chicken enchiladas were delightful!! The hatch green chile sauce was so damn good, I'll go back just to get that! I had lemonade to drink with my meal. Uncle Julio's left a soft spot in heart because it was one of the first Mexican food places around in the early 80's. I had the impression the one in Fairview was closing and kinda sad. When I realized I was mistaken. However, would I go back. No! Uncle Julio's is so loud, you can't even here the person talking to you. You can't hear the staff. You are literally in a room to eat around all of these people then take your leave and go home. It's a great place to go with awkward company like a blind date, post colonoscopy marathon, divorce celebration or disgruntled retirement dinner but not the place to go to enjoy good food and company. TERRIBLE SERVICE! We sat outside at our table for 15 minutes without a single person stopping to say anything much less bring water. The restaurant is clearly understaffed and the servers needed help but the managers were standing at the hostess stand chatting with each other instead of helping to at least start drink orders. We decided to in and sit at the bar instead but stopped by the hostess stand to let them know what was going on and received a very insincere "oh sorry" with no other action. I like the open space of this restaurant and I like the Decor. it's very traditional Spanish looking. Very festive. The wait staff was very friendly and the service was great and prompt . The noise level was mediocre. A little on the pricier side. I would say 2 1/2 stars. We ordered the Bacon Wrapped Camarones, and it was OK. There was nothing special about this dish for the price. We also ordered the Tres Amigos Margaritas. They were very good. Other than the atmosphere, there was nothing that gave me the feeling that I needed to come back for more. I am very disappointed. To give them credit, we had a party of about 40, however, the restaurant knew that in advance and clearly weren't prepared. Didn't have tables set up, countless different servers taking orders, it was evident it was a free for all. My wife got her food which was a veggie quesadilla. One slice just had cheese, the other just a piece of onion. The whole platter was that way. Took forever to get our water, even menus took awhile. My salad was very blah also. We got the small version of the house guacamole which was just right for two people and both salsas that came with the table chips were good, the darker one was my favorite though. I am sitting here not knowing where to start. How about starting with the rating. You know how a lot of people say they wish they can give more stars? Only when I close my eyes as I'm chewing & don't say a word I am one of those people. I have to start with their salsa. My mouth tingled & the party in my mouth began. That 1st bite I get a nice size chunk of avocado & automatically the eyes close. I can't begin to tell you how the flavors so perfectly meld together. The thing that made my eyes close more than once was almost every bite had a chunk of avocado and they don't skimp on the serving size. We didn't think we could finish it but we couldn't stop eating it and well my husband would have licked the mortar and pestle bowl. I need to get me one that size. It was huge. If you are thinking about getting an appetizer trust me when I say get the made to order guacamole. I bet you won't be able to stop either. Next was the main event. The steak fajitas for 2. Let's just say my husband cut his steak with a fork! We poured the Mexican butter over the meat and it flew to the next level. Imagine that 1st bite. Between the meat, onions, red and green bell peppers and the side dish that holds the cheese, sour cream and guacamole whatever you decide my eyes would have stayed closed. I mean come on. Flavortown at its finest. I don't understand how they do it. Could it be that they really do make things from scratch? We talked with the GM Fernando. Came here for my Birthday at 11 and we did not leave until 1 it was pure torture. They did not apologize for taking over an hour to bring our appetizer and forgetting another. We had the worst service ever and when we arrive there was only one other party there and we have two servers . We had to inquire on our food several times and got different answers each times we asked. It was insane. We had plans afterwards and we felt like we were being held hostage. We did not even want our food by the time it arrived and literally just packed it and left. I think I drank like 5 diet cokes while waiting even to point we just turned our chairs to the kitchen and no one cared. The manager who managed to check on the table of two who got their food with no issues, lol. Great customer service just ask the table with no issues and ignore the table who is still waiting on their food. We wanted to do a simple family dinner for a gender reveal instead of a big party. From the moment I called for a reservation, to the end of the gender reveal, the staff was fabulous and the food was awesome. The person taking the reservation asked what they could do to make the gender reveal special. They added pink M&M's to the Chocolate piñata and my other granddaughter hit it to reveal we would have another girl in the family. I brought pink and blue M&M's and the manager took the sealed envelope so we were ALL surprised at the results. It was so special and the Uncle Julio staff handled it all. How is it that you have a table reserved, and it takes 30 minutes (after your reservation time) to finally be seated? A host told us that they only had one bus person there to clean up. Folks at the host stand couldn't be bothered to update us on the situation. I had to go up and ask about our table 3 times and the employees at the host stand hardly made eye contact with me. This almost ruined the birthday celebration that we were having. The food was good, but this issue was a complete management failure. Keep your staff showing up by paying more than the market rate and make sure your people are happy and considerate of customers. Train them to treat EVERY customer with the same amount of consideration and care. WHEN THINGS ARE NOT GOING AS PLANNED, PLEASE TRAIN YOUR PEOPLE TO PROACTIVELY COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS. read more
